Others have said they aren't traditional Aussie pies and I get that if that is your expectation. I always try to appreciate the cafe for their take on the food items. Peaked Pies didn't disappoint. It is a small spot with just a few tables outside and a few tables inside. The eatery gets pretty busy so we felt lucky to get a table inside. They have a lot of choices and we settled on the ones we wanted to try. I went with the veggie pie and added the mushy style peas, mashed potatoes and gravy to the top. Mr. B decided on the Kangaroo pie after talking to the staff. He was a little leary of where the Kangaroo came from, but we were told there is a farm in British Columbia that raises them, so he wanted to try something he had never had. Please see the note below about the kangaroo. There is a correction. The pies came out and were quite large, but we must have been hungry and they were scrumptious we finished them off. Let's start with the veggie pie. It was filled with veggies, carrots, potatoes, onion, corn, celery and yams. The sauce is a coconut milk based sauce and was creamy. The Hopper, with ground kangaroo was lovely. The pie is filled with ground kangaroo, and I mean ground, it was fine meat and stuffed full with a Cabernet Merlot Balsamic Reduction that balanced the sweetness of the meat. The service was great, the staff was nice, and helpful. Great choice. NOTE: I received a correction from the owner of Peaked Pies after posting this review. The Kangaroo is not sourced from British Columbia as we were told. While the food was excellent this was disappointing to hear. Mr. B specifically asked where the kangaroo was sourced as he didn't want frozen and would have ordered something else. I wanted to let you all know I was wrong as we were given inaccurate information from the staff.

We also wanted to try the kangaroo (The Hopper) and spinach & ricotta roll, but will need to return for those. The butter chicken and beef curry looked tempting, too. Extra hungry? Add a topping of mashed potatoes, mushed peas and gravy to your pie! Perfect spot to grab a warm meal after being out in the cold, or even just a quick bite while walking through the village. First, there's plenty of seating. You come in, get a menu, seat yourself, and when you're ready, order at the counter. They will bring your food to you. We got a table outside in the sun. We ordered the Grants Platter for Two and shared it between three hungry adults and we still had a lot of leftovers (which were super tasty later)! My favorites from this platter were the brisket (so tender and just the right amount of smokiness) and the chicken wings with dry rub (fried to crispy perfection). The ribs and pulled pork were also really good, but since I prefer my barbecue without sauce, these didn't appeal to me as much as the brisket. I also liked the fresh and tasty mixed greens salad that we got as one of our sides--very balanced and delicious. The staff are super friendly here. Our waiter checked on us several times and even the chef came out to see if we liked the food. It was a wonderful lunch. Every course came out looking delightful, from the bright, delicate starters to the beautifully cooked mains to desserts that made us slow down just to savor the moment. I didn't want the food to stop flowing. Service was warm without being stuffy, the vibe was lively but still intimate, and the whole night felt like we'd accidentally unlocked a VIP experience. If you've ever walked past Araxi thinking "maybe someday," this is your sign. Go when they're running the special during spring ski season!

Food: - Oysters: island tide and kusshi, served with traditional mignonette and horseradish - Ricotta gnocchi: with wild mushrooms, cheesy lemon fonduta, crispy sage - a smaller portion but good for sharing as an appetizer - Pacific crab and matane shrimp cake: no fillers, perfectly seared, with a great local pear and avocado salsa verde - Seared scallops: perfectly seated, with local sunchokes, crispy prosciutto, grilled bok choy, xharred pepper romesco - Ora king salmon: similar to the kids' one but dressed up, with roasted beats, beet and ginger salsa, goat cheese arancini - House made bucatini: mentaiko style with spicy cod roe, humobldt squid, breadcrumbs. I didn't cry, but I definitely started sniffling and my mouth was on fire when I bit into a pepper. The delicious mango lassi saved me. It had tiny bits of pistachio which was a revelation to me. I loved it and it tasted so fresh, not overly sweet. The chicken tikka masala was less saucy and creamy than I'm used to, instead it had a thick gravy consistency, but it was still very flavorful. I think the chicken tikka under their tandoori grill section might be more like I'm used to, where you can dip the naan in the sauce. The pieces of chicken were pretty big too. The garlic naan was generous and the mushroom pulao rice was delicious. Some reviews say this place is casual but I felt a bit underdressed since they do have white tablecloths/napkins. We tried: Chicken pakora - slightly overcooked but not terrible, too salty fish pakora - nicely cooked fish, moist, firm - but too salty butter chicken - very average. Chicken breast chunks were fine, sauce was not that flavourful chicken tikka masala - a bit too sweet for my taste, and not much chicken, mostly onions garlic naan - fine. Naan had a nice texture, but very little garlic mixed grill platter - had a bit of lamb, chicken, prawns, fish. Everything was overcooked, dry, and just too salty. We are spoiled down in Vancouver with an abundance of excellent authentic Indian restaurants. This place in whistler is really only still standing because it has no real competition. Otherwise, the food is too salty, and frankly below average. Also the pricing is extraordinarily high for very small portions and a very casual dining experience - so why pay fine dining prices? The people running it were nice. That gets them 3 stars instead of 2. I would not recommend or come back here.

The server was prompt and attentive with a sincere, friendly demeanour. They were out of the tomato soup so we got the chowder and some chips and salsa (not pictured). Both were so delicious. The chips were ultra thick and reminded me of eating bugles as a kid, but way higher class. The salmon and chicken were way larger portions than we had expect , and done to perfection. Chicken is a little spicy but this is the type of service and cooking I liiiiive for! If you've ever had any other Earls scratch that out of your mind because when you come here, this is literally the place to be. Sticky toffee pudding also wonderful. It's not like a pudding more like a mini chocolate cake with toffee, vanilla ice cream and this almond florentine style cookie. It was a rather cold April evening, so we asked if there were heaters. We were told that the heaters would be above our seats. We quickly accepted and were taken to our table. It was quite nice because the heather gave off enough heat for it to be enjoyable to sit outside. My friend ordered the 6 oz prime sirloin with the peppercorn sauce. I ordered the 6 oz prime sirloin with truffle butter. Both steaks came out in exceptional time. The service was quite amazing. My only thing was both steaks were overcooked. I ordered medium and it looked almost well done. My friend ordered medium rare and his was almost medium, if not done as well.
