Bit of a different review from everyone else for Olympus Board Shop: this is for their Onewheel rental and sales! I came across them while looking for a local place to rent a Onewheel, the electric skateboards made by Future Motion. They're an authorized dealer; perfect, I'd rather buy local. I went to their website, and turns out they also rent! $70/day if less than 4 days, $60 for 5+ days. I wanted to try out a Onewheel before dropping $1k, so I texted and set a day to come by. They also require a 30min tutorial if you have no experience: perfect, I have zero experience and it'll be helpful to learn from a human. Tyler helped me do a few laps in the parking lot, let me borrow a helmet, and I went home to practice more. By the end of the rental period, I knew I wanted one of my own. After some back and forth, we got my order figured out and submitted. They applied the money I spent on the rental towards the purchase of a new board, I put down a deposit, and the wait began. Something to note: the owner, Jeremy, let me borrow a shop board until mine arrived. Due to some mix-ups with the delivery address, I ended up holding onto the shop board for weeks. I really appreciated having the extra time with the loaner and all the additional practice hours I got in. By the time my board arrived, I'd gotten a total of 18 miles in. For anyone else in my shoes - zero experience, nervous about spending so much, not sure if Onewheel is for you - this is the place to start. Wow these guys really stand behind their stuff!!! I brought in some flux bindings I had gotten from then on a board a few years ago. A bolt had gotten loose and fallen out while I was boarding last weekend. They took a look at the joint, grabbed another binding, took out the matching bolt and captured nut, and spent 10 min rebuilding the joint, and checking all the other fasteners in the binding. They double checked the whole thing by comparing it to my matching binding from the other side and handed them back to me. I said to them "awesome, what do I owe you?", and they smiled and just said "you're good". Can't speak highly enough about Jeremy and the guys at Olympus. They'll always be my shop. read more

Okay, so first of all... they moved. And I hunted them down like a contestant on Naked and Afraid looking for fresh road kill. That's how important they are to me and our community. Secondly... Jeremy and the team have always been professional, interested in my needs, and super helpful. Most recently, I brought my dog with me and the boys welcomed her like one of their own. They set my daughter up with everything she needs and Kyle took care of us like family. I can see him having his own shop one day, he's that good. This is the best snowboard shop. It is a small hole in the wall with great products, great prices, and even better employees. I went at a time that the store was packed and the employee, who I believe his name was Tyler, was attentive to all of us and was able to get the perfect product for me. I absolutely love Olympus Board Shop! Jeremy helped me with my new setup and was incredibly knowledgeable when it came to picking out the right board for my needs and skill level. I ended up sizing down my board, and he also helped dial in the perfect placement for my bindings. IMPORTANT: Olympus has a rental/tuning shop location (address as posted) located next to Scardino's as well as a SECOND seasonal retail location located next to Shakey's Pizza and Rascal's! I love to see that this small business is growing! They never try to upsell me, everyone is really cool and honest, and the new retail store has awesome gear. Please check the website out for pricing for rentals or tunes. The retail store has a lot of snowboard gear for the space and they plan on adding even more. They said they don't plan on staffing the retail shop in the summer but you can call the rental location if you need something special. Bottom Line: Will be back in October to get my next tune up and probably get a new pair of gloves! Please support this small business! read more

I was so disappointed with owner of this place. I went there to do my son's board for waxing and informed to pick it up next day or ex $10 extra for same day service. so l preferred to get it next day service. When i got home my son found out this place opens at 12 noon which is not workable for my son's trip. I called the shop to check if 12 is their opening time and it was right. So i asked them what time it will be done if i want same day service. Young man who works there kindly said it will be done around 7p. I asked him i will pick it up at 7p. But my son called not to wax it for $20, will do tomm with $10 at elsewhere opens early in the morning. So I called the shop to cancel same day service 2 min later after the 1st call with young guy works their and drove there to pick the board up. The owner said if it is already waxed I have to pay for wax which doesn't make any sense at all. I complained to the owner this board was dropped off 10 min ago for next day service and called to change to same day service then 2 min later called again to cancel it How can it be done when i canceled the service unless the owner wanted money no matter what customer wanted. He even kept me standing there over 5 min to finish up the wax. They could tell me if it was already started for waxing when I called them to cancel. It means he started the job after i called to cancel service, Why??? At the end he said don't pay and never come back to this place again. Of course NOT! I wouldn't go there ever again. What a experience. The owner of this place is so rude and mean also greedy and sarcastic but employee was very kind and friendly. Love this shop!! Ive been snowboarding for thirty years and I have never had as great of an experience in a board shop as this place. Trent spent literally two hours pulling boards alongside Jeremy, the shop owner, while we talked about all things riding. Trent is the real deal, so knowledgeable and ready to help and super patient. One thing I loved while I was there was that there were at least three new people buying their first boards and Trent gave them just as much attention and help as he did me. He was bouncing all over the store and doing an amazing job for everyone there. No vibes at all whatsoever, just great service. Their inventory is INSANE. Literally all the best boards on the market, no exaggeration. If they don't have it you don't want it. My initial experience was at a private event where staff waxed boards for a fee at private winter party. Getting your board waxed at a party just as the resorts opened was the perfect snow stoke! Recently I got my gear ready and needed a special plate to fit Burton bindings on a non-Burton board. After spending an hour trying to fit the bindings I looked up Burton bindings and realized I had the wrong plate. A phone call later I was on my way to Olympus to pick up the proper discs to fit my board. When I showed up they were preparing snow rental gear for customers and were ultra busy. The gentleman outside took a couple minutes to check out my issue and immediately knew what I needed. A couple of minutes later he had the proper hardware I needed including plates, screws and washers to fit my Burton bindings on my Arbor board. (see pic!) While I waited I noticed they have legit looking snow rental gear (Arbor brand boards) for adults and kids at reasonable rental prices. A quick peek at their website and I was impressed to learn they also have snow clothing! Wow! Thank you Olympus Board shop for being more than just snow stoke! read more

TL;DR: Olympus Board Shop has got to be the best kept secret for snowboarding and ski gear in LA. Huge selection of boots and boards from the top-tier manufacturers. The BEST part is the advice and setup you are offered. Olympus absolutely nailed it, and the proof was how perfectly everything worked and rode on a week-long trip. Backstory: needed solid boots for a 5'11 180# improving snowboarder, for trip to Utah. Went through options from Nidecker, Salomon, Nitro and worked through all the pros & cons of each with insights both Jeremy and Brick. Boots & bindings adjusted to function with ease. Ended up buying an incredible pair of Nidecker boots - warm, great fit, stiffness and feel - thanks to the accurate recommendations we received. The minimal d-rubbing was ideal. I recommend my bf rent a board from here to try out snowboarding with me. Olympus Board Shop is THE best place to go with your stand up paddle-board and snowboarding needs. The staff here is very knowledgeable about all the gear that they sell, rent and repair. Ask Jeremy about any snowboard's camber or flex and he will fill your head with so much knowledge about the board you would think he built it himself. There aren't shops like this anymore. Small, cozy, and the service is very good (boss is watching!) which is great. Got a groupon for a tune up of my Capita snowboard and I asked them about a Burton board that has the bottom layer half stripped off. They sent it to the "expert" who called me back saying it would cost $50+ to epoxy/glue it back. I said no and will end up hanging the old board on the wall but the option is there. They might actually be able to fix the unfixable boards. Dropped the boards off and picked them up in a few days. Same day is costlier. The have a good selection of Union bindings (the new models, same price as online) and mostly Salomon boots but i think a few other brands as well. Boots are better tried in store. Tons of boards and a few basic accesories. (no helmets) I would definitely bring my board back here for tuning next time. read more

At a time where there are no board or ski shops in LA Olympus is an oasis and a treasure. Being a skier for over 50 years who used to do his own tuning I can confirm they do a great job. I only wish I was a boarder as their selection of boards is off the charts. The owner Jeremy is a beacon of positivity and knowledge. They have the new cutting edge board bindings. Recently I bought a Black Project paddle for paddleboarding and absolutely love it. He even let me take it for a test spin. I can't recommend this business enough. I've rented snowboard gear from these guys about 3 times and they make the process extremely easy ! Once they have your information down from your first rental, they keep it on file so next time you can just give them a call to reserve and they'll have it ready on your desired pick up date. Just a heads up, you do have to pay over the phone when you make the reservation . The staff there are knowledgeable, helpful, and efficient ! Only thing is if they could update their COVID hours on Yelp, that would be nice. Their updated hours are on their website, but I did check Yelp first and went with that. When I went to pick up and drop off my rentals at around 11:30-11:45 AM, I had to wait a bit until they opened up noon. Not a big deal though! I've never had a problem with them otherwise and would definitely recommend them ! read more
