Having gone to Wave Rave for so many decades in Mammoth for snowboard gear and tune ups, it was nice to know they now have an LA shop! I was impressed with how well stocked they are with the latest and greatest gear when I took my bro-in-law to get his 1st snowboard and better fitting boots. A couple days later I ended up going back and got a new board for myself. If you're in the market for new gear, definitely don't snooze on checking Wave Rave LA first! The best part is how friendly and knowledgeable the staff is. While anyone there will be great, ask for Finn. He is the best! He answered all our questions, and patiently took the time to go over all the latest tech details and recommend the right gear for each of us-- and more importantly to get us properly dialed in! Really great service and definitely the biggest selection of snowboard gear I've seen in LA. I came in here because I needed a screw for my binding (not the screw to the board, just one of the random screws holding the strap on) and I also wanted to check out the shop since I love the one in Mammoth. The guy took my board to the workshop area and put the screw in for me. When he was done he didn't charge me anything for it and wished me on my way. While I was there I browsed the shop and really loved the selection. I just bought new gear earlier this season so I wasn't looking to buy anything at the time, but if I do need anything I will definitely come back. Also, just FYI they do hot waxes and tunings here. I'm shocked that there aren't more places in LA that do it, but it's a huge bonus to get that stuff done before heading up the mountain in order to maximize your mountain time. I will say, this place doesn't look as cool as the Mammoth one, it's a big open space that's got more of a warehouse feel to it, but the store is huge and has lots of variety. Oh yea, it's also nice that it's in an industrial office park type area because there's tons of parking in the lot right out front. read more

I haven't always had the best experience at snow gear shops as the service is sometimes lacking and as someone who doesn't know too much about the gear I should bring, coming to Wave Rave was a blessing. The selection is great, sizes are inclusive, the team is friendly and super knowledgeable about the snow gear. At a point in my visit, I was looking for goggles but with such a big selection, I didn't know where to start. Thankfully, one of the employees (forgot the name, sorry!), helped me out and pointed out that I needed to have the foam in the front of my goggles completely touch my nose or else it would affect overall protection and performance. With a lower nose bridge, it was tricky to find one that fit while also being nice on my budget but they managed and it was awesome! I felt like this place really looks out for their customers while also being huge promoters of the sport. Parking is easy and accessible, in front of the shop. Best to come on a weekday noon though. If I ever have a need/want for more snow gear, I'll definitely come here first. read more

Went into the store, one of the girls immediately helped me. I was looking for a more advanced board and she had Mike help me out. Mike helped me with all of my questions. Got me set up with a new board and bindings. He set everything up and waxed my board for me. I went up to Mammoth the next day and it was perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Checked out Wave Rave's new LA location and picked up a Jones board with the help of Anthony! Based on my riding style and what I was looking for, he pulled 5 options and took the time to explain the pros/cons of each board. Once I picked the one, he pulled out a new board from the back and detuned, waxed, and put on the stomp pad for me all the while explaining the waxing process so that I can eventually do it myself. He would have set up the bindings too, but I forgot to bring them with me (to which he said I can drop by anytime if I had any questions about positioning the bindings). Everyone there was super chill and knowledgeable - I'll definitely be coming back in the future for my snowboarding needs! So excited to have a Wave Rave in Socal! Such a great shop with tons of selections to pick from. From apparel, apparel, snowboards, snowboarding accessories, skateboards and skateboard accessories! I have been on a hunt for a new snowboard for the past two years and have not been able to make up my mind aside from wanting a particular brand. The staff here is very patient and knowledgable. They were able to advise me what size board I should choose from and which model based on the type of riding experience I want. They understood my brand preference and did not try to push me on a different brand knowing it may be easier to find the size and stiffness I was looking for. They directed me to a board that I have seen before but never really paid any attention to and explained to me why it would be a good fit. Unfortunately they did not have it in my size. Anthony helped me out and honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience. I came in last month to get new snowboarding boots. Everywhere I'd gone over the years would fit me in a boot 1/2 size smaller than my normal size and they all swore that's how it should fit. After enough frustration in the inability to do toe turns when you can't feel your toes, and just cold feet in general, I decided to get new ones. Enter Anthony the lifesaver! He was extremely knowledgeable and super friendly and put me in the most comfortable boots I've worn in over 3 years. I took the boots to Mammoth a couple times and they fit and function great!! This one star goes to the young man who helped me with the purchase of new snowboard boots. Otherwise it would have been zero stars if it allowed me. He's the person who shined in this dilemma. Slender guy with long hair, sorry I don't remember his name. His customer service was first class. I can't say the same with management. I was completely stoked to try my new boots on a local trip to Bear. Unfortunately, within the first two runs my feet were in so much pain I couldn't continue. I called Alex (GM) when I was coming down the mountain to share my experience about the boots. I drove directly to Wave Rave. They proceeded to let me know that it could have been my bindings being too old. They also gave me some very unorthodox advice. Alex mentioned that Olympian's and X-Game riders would take hot showers in their boots to break them in faster. At first thought, they were crazy. I immediately asked him if I proceeded to heed his advice and if it didn't work, will he still honor some type of exchange. His exact words "yeah I'll honor that". Fast forward to my second trip. Feet still killing me! I returned the next day and spoke to a mgr named Mike. After explaining myself, Mike began to get angry with what I was telling him. He kept saying "I can't sell used boots". Alex, clearly told me he would honor an exchange if it didn't work out. Alex is the GM. Basic customer service turned into a confrontation where I had to tell him to turn it down a couple notches because I wasn't angry. Why should he be. He continued to argue so we decided to call Alex by cell. and he completely denied that he would honor anything. After the second time telling Mike to turn it down a couple notches he ran away like a child and told me to deal with somebody else. I was completely shocked. Having my own business, I could never fathom the idea of walking away from the customer like that. They proceeded to suggest heat molding them and giving the boots another shot. Now why wasn't the heat mold the first suggestion that they made? I have no clue but at this point, I'm only writing this out of principle based on the actions from Mgr Mike and the blatant lie from the GM Alex. And to put this in the context, I bought top-of-the-line 32 boots, almost $500 and this is the way that I was treated. read more

Went into rave wave to get my board fixed/waxed & to get my bindings on. I mentioned I haven't used the board in over 10years and was going to the mountains to go snowboarding. Customer service was great and they were very helpful. However; after getting up to the mountain & pulling out my board, I noticed my bindings were broken. Which meant my board was not able to be used. Yes I should have caught this on pickup but I also did mention if anything was wrong with the board to let me know so I could pay to fix it. In the long run, I paid $65 for a board to get fixed which couldn't be used and had to pay money to rent a whole set of board & boots. read more
