Very interesting diner and worth the stop if this is on your route. I was headed to San Diego coming out of Sonoita and needed some lunch. I didnt want to venture too far off I-10 and this place looked intriguing so I stopped. This place is like a flashback in time, looks like the place is quite old but its still running very well. Two ladies both with white hair were running the show and doing g a great job! As soon as I walked in, one of the ladies says to me, "anywhere you like." And since I like sitting at the bar, thats where I sat down. Waitress immediately carded me which always makes my day haha. She took my drink order and my food order and got working on it. Very fast and efficient and everything worked out nicely. I needed some real food after a weekend of intense caving so dont judge me as I opted for some protein and fries. The chicken fried steak came out hot, juicy, and absolutely delicious. The gravy had great flavor, though it leaned a bit heavy on the pepper. The three scrambled eggs were slightly on the dry side, but the hash browns made up for it with a perfectly crispy texture. Service was excellent--our waitress was friendly, attentive, and the food came out impressively fast. Stopped by Omar Highway Chef Restaurant with my parents and it was such a cute little diner. It honestly feels like a little blast from the past when you walk in. The vibe is cozy and welcoming and the food was really good. We had the chicken club sandwich, the steak with some sides, and the chicken soup Stephanie recommended. Everything was delicious. Better off stopping at McDonald's. This place was disgusting. The tables were presented like they were clean but had crumbs and cup residue on just about all of them. The waitress seemed off (like tired of the every day, uninterested). She didn't allow my 12 year old to order from the children's menu, 10 and under is apparently enforced. The $14 chicken tender basket I ordered for him was 4 chicken fingers with processed chicken. My brisket sandwich was horrendous, the beef? Was questionable. The greenbeans were total mush, I had to spit out the bite I took. The lava cake also tasted like low grade/fake chocolate. read more

Good food, decent prices. Hubby had the steak and fries with corn he loved it. I eat primarily vegetarian and there are no real options but I pieced together a couple of eggs over medium that were a bit undercooked :-( with runny whites. Potatoes (I requested fried potatoes and I think they gave me the fried cubes,'which were very good and a bagel with butter. We did try the jalapeño poppers and they were okay. Frozen variety and a little cold in the middle. I'm torn between 3/4 stars. I'd give it 3.5 if I could. I do wish they offered more vegetarian options. The food was good! High quality and prepared well. We had the prime rib French dip with cole slaw and a TTT omelette, and both were yummy. Prices were a bit on the high side but it's common nowadays. Service was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed our lunch here. read more

I will always scream from the rooftops that a good diner and a good truckstop has a bomb patty melt. And this place definitely does! Service was fantastic and quick. The parking lot definitely leave something to be desired but again it's by the freeway and a truckstop you'll be safe and fine. Everybody is nice and the place is clean. I have brought people here and they have had different items. I didn't care for their food, but I always love the patty me here with grilled onions and pickles and some french fries. read more

I must have come on an off day as the experience I had here was really bad. We got there around 5:45pm and didn't leave until around 7:30pm. The service was so incredibly slow. There were only two waitresses on the floor and the place was only half full. It took almost 30 minutes before our order was finally taken. Then it took another almost 40 minutes to get our food. I ordered the classic breakfast with eggs over easy, sausage patties, hashbrowns and a side of country gravy. The entire meal was flavorless except for the sausage patties. The gravy tasted like flour and looked like it had lumps of flour in it. The eggs and hashbrowns had no flavor and adding the gravy on top made it worse. I actually added salt to my food which I never usually do. I can say the place is clean but that's about it. There were no apologies for the long wait times or anything else. HUGE PORTIONS! I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Their menu is huge and has a bit of everything. I was craving Mexican food, so of course I got some. It was very Americanized, I could tell the taco shells were from the store and the refried beans were from a can. It was all still very good! I had no complaints. Others at my table got breakfast food, sandwiches, and chicken tenders. Everything turned out good and was large. Dessert was huge and delicious! Big enough for 3 people. Located inside the iconic TTT Truck Stop (sign easily seen from I-10), this restaurant has surprisingly good food. They serve large portions of comfort food and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day (and they have alcoholic drinks too). They have cute diner booths and a little candy counter with some nostalgic candy bars which you can add to your bill. You seat yourself and server comes over and takes care of you. The bill is brought out and you can use the QR code to pay your bill. The bill was a bit of a sticker shock for four people eating at a truck stop which added up to $90 for lunch!! read more

I love this place, the food is decent and comforting, some items are especially good! This is a truck stop but I think the food is a bit better than most other truck stops I've eaten at! The bar is a nice addition and the remodel is awesome, very nice atmosphere now! Staff is friendly and helpful, and are hard working people! Pitchers of beer are only $12.00, not bad and that includes Dragoon IPA! They have a great deal at happy hour on a pitcher and a large pizza, for $22.00! Been here twice so far and each time I am I have left happy and full. Breakfast is fresh and on point.

Lots of parking and easy to be in and out of. Plenty of seating inside, but many tables are located under the air vents and you get cold pretty quickly. Breakfast is served all day and we both went with Chile Relleño and Eggs. Mine came with beans and rice and two small flour tortillas. He had Hash Browns instead of Rice. The Peppers had a good flavor, but were tough and stringy, like they had been frozen and then reheated. It's a truck stop, and they have a variety of items on the menu, including breakfast served all day. Our waitress, Cheryl, was very pleasant and did a good job. Just not sure $42.00 for two meals and 2 iced teas is worth the price. read more

The restaurant was clean, all the TVs were working. The restaurant offered adult beverages if that's thing . The prices were reasonable about the same prices as Denny's. The restaurant did not stink. There was no smell. It was clean. It made me happy. The Reuben was a grilled brisket with sauerkraut, toasted, buttered marble rye and some sauce. I would give it a nine out of 10. It was excellent oh and melted cheese. It was it was just excellent. My standards is pretty high on Ruben though. The coleslaw did not have sugar in it or goop or any of that garbage day slop into it in trailer, park stores and trash restaurants. It was excellent and fresh. The staff was friendly, and I actually left a tip and I never tip I would come back, and I highly recommend it to bring your family. Don't worry about the outside of the place since it's a trucker stop there's plenty of parking. read more

Sad to say something has gone terribly wrong over there. They did away with the cute decor and vintage candy counter. It's back to a dive. The cook is off their game too. The food was awful the last time I went (Oct 2024) lumpy flour chunks in the gravy, no meat in the gravy, stale biscuits, undercooked hash browns and thin bacon. Most importantly the stench. You have been warned. I am convinced they were having some kind of sewer problem when I was there. I hope they come back but I won't be going. read more

After hearing and reading all the publicity around Omar's Hi-Way Chef, I decided to pop in there one day in my way back into Tucson. We didn't dine in for a meal. We picked up a couple slices of pie to go. As others have mentioned, you're basically greeted at the door by a revolving pie display. We grabbed a banana cream pie and a Boston cream pie. I was underwhelmed by the pie. They were loosely wrapped with Saran plastic wrap. Something about it felt a little unsanitary to me. Perhaps the pie that is the best to try is the big baked pie topped with whipped cream. The diner itself is your classic old diner vibe. I do t think I'll be racing to come back here anytime soon. But it does make for an interesting truck stop. read more

I went to this location because it was listed as top truck stop restaurant in Arizona. Well, I was surely disappointed everything I got from the chicken fried steak to the eggs was over cooked and a hot mess. The chicken fried steak is some frozen garbage you could get anywhere. The hash browns crispy on the outside under cooked in the inside. It was like eating a potato right after it had been peeled. Ewww over priced garbage is what I paid for $18 for a chicken fried steak black bear makes better and I drove 10 miles to get it! Either whoever rated this top truck stop eatery in Arizona is crazy or I need to avoid truck stop restaurant's for the rest of my life.. this ain't shiiii.. Four of us came for breakfast yesterday and we all left stuffed. Bottom line: extensive breakfast menu, huge portions, friendly diner service, perfectly cooked eggs. I had Omar's favorite. I am a big eater, but I still left behind two tortillas and some beans. I have never had over easy eggs so perfectly cooked (see photo) - they were light and fluffy almost. The enchiladas were good and the shredded beef went well with everything. I like their beans too. The two ladies with us had the half-O, and the portions were perfect for them. The other fellow had the belly buster, and couldn't come close to finishing it. He left behind the sausage patty, half the pancakes and some egg whites that he just could not shovel in. We love the waitresses here. They are the archetypal diner waitresses, and do a great job. Good place to go if you are *really* starving with the huge portions. The food was good, but not spectacular - I'd put it in the "comfort food" category. read more

Lunchtime on a Sunday. 4 waitresses attending several tables and a few singles at the counter. Ordered a cup of chicken noodles soup and meatloaf with shoestring fries as my side option. My soup was served in about 3 minutes and was really good, with plenty of chicken and I would guess house made. My main course was out in 8 minutes. Tasted and the thin French fries were crisp and not greasy. Despite the reputation of old time truck stop diners, none of the items had excess salt, in fact , perhaps too light on the salt and you add your own. (over salty food is a dead give away of long shelf life canned foods). The ketchup was the version with no High Fructose Corn Syrup. Yes - healthy truck stop food. They had 6 beers on tap, 3 national brands , 3 more local, specialty brews. With tip lunch was $30 - while it seems high, is probably fair. Attention Tucson Airport hotel people, it's only 3 miles east on Valencia , about 10 minutes. This 24/7 restaurant is my new late night/early morning spot when staying near the airport. read more
