So I guess this is a place where locals just feel comfortable going for conversation, because they certainly did not have good drinks or food. The drinks were watered down and the food was all pre-packaged food cooked in old grease. A group of friends and I went for their Thursday seafood night. The shrimp that were supposed to be steamed were grilled which wasn't the problem. The problem was that they were so over cooked that they were dry. The popcorn shrimp was just crunchy breading, crab cake sandwich tasted like burnt tuna patties, catfish and flounder nuggets I just spit out that's how bad they were. On a decent note the wings, splash roll and coconut shrimp were just ok. Let's just say I see why I am the first person to post and review the menu. But hey I gave it a try and don't see me coming back.

Should've known I was in trouble when the salt shaker looked this crusty.

We ended up at the Salty Siren for two reasons, one, it was recommended by one of the guides at the Henricus Historical Park as being near the Farrar's Island historical marker (ancestors) and it was on the river. The view was gorgeous. We were promptly seated at an outdoor table overlooking the water. Our server, Jodi H., greeted us with a smile and offered to get our drinks and our calamari appetizer. It was excellent. Light, crispy, fresh with a few fried jalapeños for zing. The dip served with them was really good. I ordered fried oysters, which came with authentic hush puppies (which for this southerner means no sugar!) and I ordered the vegetable of the day (steamed broccoli) to sort of make up for the "fried". My husband ordered the grilled salmon. His salad was huge and the vegetables were so fresh that I filched some of his cucumbers. His salmon was amazing. It was perfectly cooked and it was so moist and tender. We will try to return if we are ever travelling this way again. Try The Salty Siren. Even if you don't go looking for the mile maker afterwards.

What a great place to get a great view of the river at sunset in a wonderful open air restaurant…read more The restaurant is shaped like a giant yurt with giant windows that open to the beautiful deck and water. Crab cake sandwich, fresh oysters and cheesesteak were our choices and were definitely good choices. The service could not have been better. Prompt service and cheerful smiles. We will definitely be back. Thank you Salty Siren.

It was industrial and sturdy looking. She loved the orange color in the ceiling. We ordered the ribs with mac and cheese and a kale salad as sides, the pulled chicken kids meal, and the Moonfry dessert. I thoroughly enjoyed my food. The portion size in the kids meal was satisfying and could honestly feed an adult. I wouldn't mind giving this place another try.

It sounded like a dream for any BBQ lover, and in terms of portion size and presentation, it definitely delivered. The ribs were bite-off-the-bone tender, the chicken was cooked just right, and the brisket sliders had great texture. You can tell the meat is treated with care and cooked low and slow. But the seasoning? That's where things went off the rails. Everything -- and I mean everything -- was buried under an avalanche of black pepper. The ribs were so heavily dusted it distracted from the smoky flavor. The chicken leg quarter had potential, but each bite felt like a challenge to get past the burn. And the brisket sliders? Great meat, but lost under that same peppery overkill. I'm not against spice, but this wasn't "well-seasoned" -- it was just over-seasoned. When every item on the plate tastes more like black pepper than meat, it's hard to enjoy the variety. Service was quick, and the staff was friendly. The concept is solid, and the value is definitely there. I'd go back but be hesitant -- but I'll be asking them to hold back on the pepper next time so I can actually taste the BBQ or try another location. The restaurant was clean and updated real nice.
