Omusubi is a relatively new restaurant in the Encore plaza. Their speciality is their rice balls. I actually wasn't hungry but I ordered their matcha ice cream. The matcha ice cream is one of the best I had. Super good! I'll definitely try out their rice balls at another time. They're a bit pricey but it's expected. Love the wooden interior! You get that all natural vibe from the interior. I really like that they have a combo set for $12. I think it's a fantastic deal!

Came on a friday around lunchtime. Located at the Enclave with plenty of parking. This place had nice vibes and great customer service. I bad the special that came with chicken and corn or edamame and a lemonade and choice of which onigiri. I had the salmon mayo which was delicious. The chicken came with 2 small pieces. It was breaded well and cooked fresh but felt like it was missing a sauce or something. The corn was seasoned nicely and cut in half. The lemonade was also amazing. It wasnt too sweet and sour which I liked. Refreshing! They were slow on getting our food and others who were there for awhile. I think it was an off day so Id come back just for the lemonade and onigiri.

I loved the staff there. Friendly and inviting. Knowledgeable about their menu. Definitely felt taken care of. They implement certain Japanese gestures that really take your experience up another notch when you weren't expecting it. Ordered 2 strawberry matchas during their last day of a BOGO. The drinks tasted REALLY good. Nook gets a lot of attention for their coffee but if matcha is what you're in for, I would come to this place. I didn't experience this, but from their signage they apparently do demonstrations of how to make matcha.

Love this place, I work down the street so I get an onigiri and matcha to start my day almost every day. I used to not like matcha before trying this, but you can tell the difference with the quality ingredients they use with their drinks and their food. The service is great, the team is really welcoming and they put a lot of care in their service and product. Love that this spot opened near me, easy grab and go style restaurant- or also great to grab and lounge in the enclave.

Their team (Sharon) was kind enough to reach out to me directly apologizing for the quality of the omusubi and so I came back here again today to try some different flavors of omusubi. Sharon did offer some complimentary food, however I do not take complimentary food from any issues I've received in the past. I ordered two omusubi, a spicy tuna and salmon + salmon roe. There wasn't a long line but I did notice a lot of people waiting for their order by the time I finished ordering. The kitchen seemed backed up and I saw some frustration with the other customers. For the 2 omusubis I ordered I ended up waiting 15 minutes. Edit: Just realized they rushed with my order as well as the packaging is not completed

Had a chance to stop by during their opening week, so a bit of a late review! All 3 flavors I had were recommended as their top picks, and while they were very yummy, I think the rice-filling ratio was a little off. A LOT of rice to what's put inside. Still would definitely try it again, everyone was so nice!

Strawberry Matcha Latte and Yuzu Matcha Latte

The Yuzu Matcha Latte alone will get me to return. I appreciate that they offer almond milk alternatives. https://yelp.to/ChGNOg3Yzz I also tasted the Strawberry Matcha that my sister ordered. Not my thing, but mainly because I don't like those two flavors together. Others might like it. The Avocado and Tofu Omusubi was alright. $7 each but price per item gets cheaper if you order more than one. Freshly made to order and grateful for the vegan option. https://yelp.to/K9VoqQ50t5 Service seemed to move fairly fast for all customers in front of us, but stalled a bit at our order which took longer than anticipated. Regardless, the staff was nice. Also, they did a great job remodeling the space that used to be Irv's Burgers. Although Irv's had yummy tater tots, I'd rather have Omusubi here. Great addition to Enclave.

Im a sucker for a good musubi and was pleasantly surprised with my two musubis today! I tried the beef yakiniku and the avocado and tofu. The beef in particular was so flavorful! Both had a lot of filling and tasted homemade in the best way possible. The wrapping was a little confusing (im used to good old plastic wrap and putting the nori on yourself!) but the directions on the bottom of the package were easy to follow. My only complaint was the wait. We came on a Saturday around 2:30 pm, ordered quickly, and then waited around 15 min for our order which felt long!

    No beef left, just egg...

3.5 stars for the food Got the beef sukiyaki with the egg inside. The beef was seasoned pretty well, rice was nice and warm. However, if you bite into it, the beef was not together with the egg. The egg was off to the side so after two bites the beef was all gone and the rest was the egg and rice. Wish the filling was all together. The crab with tarako was pretty good. Wish there was more filling though. It was nicely seasoned. There isn't a lot of crab. Overall, pretty pricey for what you get... I mean $7 to $7.50 for a rice ball is crazy for me. Probably won't come back. Service was great though, everyone was nice. It looks like they have a pretty spacious kitchen and back of the counter was open and you can see them make drinks. There isn't any seating inside, but you can probably find a table outside since it is pretty nice out at the enclave.

This place is a cut above store bought musibis. It's a good snack, but I would not say it's something to replace a meal. In terms of it's ratio, there is so much rice, the problem is that the rice isn't seasoned well or at all - at least use some mirin or salt! (Sesame seeds and furikake isn't too expensive right?) The salmon roe musibi, most of the musibi had no roe, they place all of it onto one side which did not lead to a balanced bite. As stated earlier, too much rice before you get to the center - the rice needs to be fun to eat too! The crab meat one was nice and balanced, the tarako was evenly spread unlike the salmon roe musibi. Of all three I tried today, the crab meat was most tasty, but again, too much flavorless rice (I give them props for the texture being correct though). The beef sukiyaki musubi is not a trational flavor offering, but it had the same problem as the salmon roe: the egg was off to the side and not mixed/blended well! So you would bite one end and then the other to get the flavors together. Overall better than grocery store musibis, it is just lacking in blending the ingredients and the rice needs flavor!

We came to the plaza on a Sunday afternoon when we were shocked to see that there was a line was out the door. We wanted to try to matcha icecream but when we got to the counter, they said they ran out. This was about 2p in the afternoon. We decided to stick around and try their other stuff. Prices were steep for the omusubi. The yuzu matcha was on the sweeter side and overly priced at 8 dollars!! It was a disappointment and I probably won't go back.

    Beef Sukiyaki omusubi
    Greg T.

Outstanding service. Manager (Sandra) explained that the company originates out of Hong Kong using Japanese rice. Exporting Japanese rice is the best way to support Japanese rice farmers. Matcha soft serve was creamy with good balance of sweet and bitter Beef Sukiyaki Matcha banana protein smoothie with almond milk- Hooray for Dairy Free! - was hearty with the banana and avocado. Packed with protein. Think and tasty. Would be good after a workout. Beef Sukiyaki omusubi was recommended and it hit the mark. Rice was hot and fluffy. Beef was tender and egg made it more moist and good Salmon Mayo omusubi also was very good. Lots of flavor. Yes this is more expensive than buying at a Japanese store but this is high quality rice from Japan, hot, and fresh! Rest of team was friendly and helpful - Pity and Dominic!

Incredible set design and store art sharing the history of the food.

My husband and I visited during the grand opening! (so a delayed post). The event was honestly spectacular with a dj, prizes, and free food. The staff did an incredible job serving everyone and being so caring. We ordered the yakuniku beef and the salmon musubis. The quality of the meat was excellent, but I did notice a lot of rice. I don't know if I would order this over going to the grocery store (even though I can taste a difference in the proteins). What did leave a major impact was the quality of the matcha. I was so surprised by how rich and pure tasting my drink was. It felt like I was back in Japan during a tea ceremony. I would absolutely come back for another matcha. It is a better quality than most drink specific places. The inside of the lobby was a bit tight when ordering. However, the line moved quickly. The decor is minamilistic and beautiful. It's great being able to see the staff prepare the food right in front of you.

Great Demand, But Poor Convenience for Working Customers…read more I've had The Nook's mushroom coffee before. My best friend took me here on a weekend afternoon, and even then there was a line, although it was manageable and mostly stayed inside the shop. Because of that experience, I knew The Nook was popular, but I wasn't prepared for what I encountered on a weekday morning. I wanted to pick up a coffee before work, so I actually planned ahead. Before leaving home, I checked the mobile website expecting that, given the obvious demand, there might be an order-ahead option. Unfortunately, there isn't one. So I gave myself an additional 30 minutes specifically for parking, waiting in line, ordering, and waiting for the drink to be prepared. I figured that should be more than enough for a morning coffee pickup. I arrived around 7:30 AM, and as I walked toward The Nook from the south side of The Enclave, I could already see the line stretching out of the door and into the courtyard. I was honestly shocked. There were easily 15-20 people ahead of me. I decided to give it a fair chance and got in line. After 10 minutes, the line had barely moved. At that point, I walked out. I understand that popular businesses get busy, especially in the morning. But there is a difference between being busy and having a customer wait in a line of 15-20 people with virtually no movement at 7:30 AM, particularly when there is no mobile ordering or order-ahead option. For a coffee shop with this level of demand, I find the lack of an ordering system especially frustrating. If you're going to consistently have lines extending outside the business during the morning rush, there should be some way for customers who are trying to grab a drink on their way to work to order ahead. And that's really my issue: the customer experience doesn't seem designed for people who need coffee efficiently. If you're coming here on a weekend, have nowhere to be, or are willing to dedicate an unpredictable amount of time to waiting, you may have a completely different experience. But if you're trying to get coffee before work, I would strongly recommend accounting for significantly more time than you think you'll need -- or having a backup plan. I no longer work as close to The Nook, and I don't drink coffee after noon, so I don't have much reason to make a special trip. Unless I'm conveniently nearby and see little to no line, I won't be making another attempt anytime soon. The Nook clearly has a loyal following, but popularity shouldn't come at the expense of basic convenience. If the demand is consistently this high, the ordering process needs to catch up with it.

Unfortunately, this visit missed the mark on both. The good news? These issues are fixable. A little more warmth, engagement, and hospitality would go a long way. Until then, we'll continue our search for our next favorite halo-halo spot.
