I love it when a guy comes over and talks me out of doing expensive work . He offered a much better solution than plastic paint ("Cool Life" or "Texicote") and explained exactly why. While he was here, he also offered solutions to our old garage that needs to be rebuilt. I never knew you could just rebuild the very top of a structure. I always thought you had to knock the while thing down. He also offered advice on our water drainage from the roof. Then he promised to send me some contacts for people who could do the work if I wanted to, but again told me nothing structural is going on, so we don't have to. He didn't charge a fee. But its my policy that everybody's time is worth money. He refused the amount I was originally going to give him and took a lesser amount. Finally, he said he owns a Dodge Dart!! We also needed someone to paint the entire house, including the eaves, wood windows, trim, and exterior doors. As the project progressed, we also added on removing a window, re-siding the back of our house (a long wall without stucco), installing a new back door, and replacing our old garage door with a brand new one.
