Great find - had their "Eggs in Purgatory" - poached eggs on toasted Tuscan bread with tomato sauce with parmigiana cheese that was absolutely amazing. Ordered a coconut and chocolate scone (usually have low expectations) but it was wonderful, toasted warm oozing with butter. The freshly brewed coffee was exceptional. Service was friendly and very attentive. Off the beaten path but worth the trip. read more

Love, love, love the blueberry pancakes. Aside from my wife's and mom's versions, On the Way's are my favorite of all-time. Whenever we have guests in town, we bring them here on Saturday or Sunday for breakfast. Everyone always seems to get something different, so we all try each other's and it's allllll good. But man, those blueberry pancakes. I always come back to them! The staff and owners are extremely friendly, and it's just a nice place to sit, eat, and relax. The burgers are supposed to be excellent (same beef as that in a Shake Shack burger), but I haven't tried them yet. Soon! Oh, and how could I forget the coffee? It's SUPER. We decided to try On the Way based on the reviews. I was not impressed with their food or their service. My pancakes, which I had high hopes for based on reviews, were served cold. Our eggs were fine, but nothing special. I ordered a double toasted English muffin with my meal and it came out lightly toasted. We weren't brought syrup or the butter on the side that we ordered. We kept having to ask for things that would normally be given to us. The food was a lot more expensive than other comparable breakfast places with similar menus, and the portions are smaller. We will not be going back and still searching for our go-to weekend breakfast place. read more

Found by chance. Nice nestled between a gas station and liquor store. Small venue open only for breakfast and lunch and a real find. Filled with locals which is always a good sign started with the ice coffee and an awesome hot chocolate piled with whipped cream and fudge. The blueberry pancakes popped blueberry and came with rest whipped cream and syrup (extra $3 for the tea syrup) and the pancakes are truly puffy and delicious; the 3 egg omelette was tasty with farm fresh eggs, nicely done potatoes (not greasy) and toasted Tuscan toast which was awesome. The bacons was very good but a tad expensive at $4 for 3 slices. Overall $50 for 2 people plus my son who had 2 orders of the bacon. No credit cards so note that. It's hard to find a locally run business these days that is thriving. I loved discovering On the Way because you feel like you've walked into a cafe that is run with care and passion for its patrons. I enjoyed an organic 3 egg omelette with a great side of hash browns. They have such friendly service and a warm ambience. This was a nice little find! Upscale and delicious. They are known for their pancakes, which I did not have. I had a delicious omelette with tomatoes, asparagus, and goat cheese. A silly excuse for a diner. Comically small portions of normal, average diner food aka food I make at home when I'm lazy and hungover. We are always looking for a cozy place to have a good breakfast, and On The Way Cafe is a true winner! All of the ingredients are fresh and many local. The owners are really friendly and the staff is excellent. It's great to be able to order just what you want and not have to always take the giant portions most diners force on you. There are so many delicious options, but the basics like eggs, over easy with hash browns and bacon is great! Last but not least, the coffee is worth the trip for from anywhere! I don't know where to begin. This place was on my husband and I's list of places to go so we walked in with expectations. The inside is warm and inviting. We got there right before they stop serving breakfast around 11 however they were kind enough to let us know and still offer to put in a breakfast order since we didn't realize. They were prompt and attentive and our orders came out in a very timely manner. We had an omelet and a short stack of pancakes which was all light and amazing. They even put hot sauce on the table along with the other typical condiments without us even asking which we found nice since we usually have to ask and then we typically are given Tabasco. Found this on Yelp while in the area to see Trey Anastasia Band at the Capitol theatre in Port Chester. A bit hard to find via Google, but called and they were super helpful. The service was top notch from the time we sat down until the time we paid the check. We had the coffee cake and pancakes. All breakfast options sounded appealing, and were all reasonably priced. I saw the word "cafe" in the title and stopped in for some iced coffee. It wasn't what I expected since it was more of a eat-in establishment, but it looked very nice and they do takeout. The staff was very pleasant and willing to accommodate my request for an iced coffee to-go. And then came the showstopper: coffee ice cubes (i.e. the ice cubes in the iced coffee are made out of coffee)! I've only been one or two other places that do this and I LOVE IT - the coffee doesn't dilute as the ice melts. So, apologies that this review isn't about the food, but if you are driving through Rye and want a decent iced coffee - I highly recommend! read more

On the Way reopened in April 2010 and my family were eager to get back to their Sunday morning breakfast place. We first went a week after it had reopened and it's fair to say that there were a few problems. Food took too long to make it's way to the tables and when it did arrive it was cold and under seasoned. I decided to give it another try before writing a review and I'm glad I did. We headed there on Father's Day which was a mistake on our part because the place was bursting at the seams. There was a 20 minute wait for a table and then another half hour for the food to arrive. When it did I was pleasantly surprised. Everything had been executed well, it was hot and the seasoning was spot on and. The pancakes and french toast were excellent and my omlett was well done. First of all, I used the reservation booking option right here on Yelp. So glad I did. Two of us showed up for Sunday breakfast. The place was packed with a wait, but lo and behold there was our table for two with a comforting (reserved) sign place on it. The place was packed and the hostess was frazzled. It did take a few minutes for her to catch up and seat us. Once seated, things improved. Fantastic coffee...but what's with the tea cup sized cups? I needed 3 refills...both because ti was delicious and small portions. Luckily, a fresh batch of crumb cakes came out of the oven, and the two of us split a decadent, buttery, melt in your mouth cake that should not be missed. I got an add items omelette. The omelette was good, the home fries were excellent...real potatoes with real spices. She got banana walnut pancakes that were too sweet for me but perfect for her. I would have loved a Bloody Mary, which they don't serve, and our waiter overheard me, and did his best to make me a virgin drink...tomato juice, hot sauce, pepper, etc. A+ for effort.
