Really want to like this place, but, after several meals, I can't. Today I had a roast beef club sandwich. Dried out roast beef, overcooked bacon, supermarket tomato. Had to ask for mayo. Nice little diner in Whir Plains. Good service and good food. Owner is a fan off The Boss aka Bruce Springsteen. There is a wall with some memorabilia dedicated to him. I had corned-beef hash with rye toast and eggs over easy, my uncle had the best Pattie's melt burger EVER. My hubby had a fried fish sandwich and he wasn't thrilled with it but I wouldn't think that would be the thing to order here anyway... we would all go back. Average diner. Some positive points: + Parking! Driving/parking in White Plains is always such a hassle. This place had a parking lot in the back, which made my experience better. + Their Curly Fries are awesome. My friend recommended this diner for the Curly Fries and she certainly wasn't wrong. Wasn't oily but crunchy, and not too dry. The food was good, very filling. Pretty pricey. When we went around 1:30pm on a Saturday, it was very empty. Have been going there for years. The food is solid - you get what you expect. That said, I'm happy with that. The wait staff are always friendly and welcoming. The setting is nothing to write home about unless you're a Springsteen fan. There's some great Springsteen stuff on the walls. We're actually heading there right after I finish this review. If you're looking for an upscale place with amazing customer service I would not recommend this place. I've been living up the block from Dorys for 7 years and wish i tried this place sooner ! This will definitely be our new spot for breakfast/lunch. Wide variety of options from breakfast (omelettes, pancakes, Benedict's) to burgers, wraps, salads... also have specials. Their lunch meats are made in house too. Staff was super nice, they all have menu options named after them too. I had the corn beef hash which was excellent and my husband has the Balboa which was roast beef with melted mozz served either fries. We were not disappointed and looking forward to trying other menu items. Tribute to Bruce Springsteen which was a unique touch. Definitely recommend checking this place out. read more

I've been passing this place for years but never tried it until friends suggested it for a weekday brunch meetup. Service is great and coffee was unlimited. I had the crab cakes Benedict and it was so good I ordered it again on my second visit. My friends had omelets and they looked equally good. The ambience is pleasant and there's no rush. A diner for deli fans (and Bruce fans). What sets this place apart from others is how much stuff they make in-house. I'm a deli guy, having grown up in Northern NJ with plenty to choose from. If there's one thing I can tell almost immediately it's whether or not somewhere makes their corned beef and pastrami on site. I try to avoid getting sandwiches at diners as I prefer to leave that to my counter guy at the deli. Yet, the deli sandwiches are featured so prominently on the menu I had to give them a shot. Must be up front for a reason, right? And yeah, they are. At first bite it was apparent the pastrami was made on the premises. No rubbery, artificial tasting garbage here. Ditto for the corned beef, slicked with glorious fat. Looking forward to trying the turkey next but the fat deli kid in me has a hard time ordering anything but pastrami or corned beef. Fun staff too. The whole place is a shrine to Springsteen, something the Jersey boy in me appreciates. read more

Dorry's Diner is easy to miss, just one of hundreds of storefronts here on White Plains' 'main drag.' But once you've had a bite of their food, it's the only thing you'll notice when driving by. I believe the words 'hearty' and 'homemade' describe my lunch pretty well. The menu is extensive and reasonably priced. I went with a cup of chicken noodle soup and Michael's Philly Wrap. The soup was chock full of yumminess while the wrap, with its mushrooms and fried onions, was juicy and sooo delish, I thought my eyes were going to role back into my head. Finally, the steak fries, which come with all wraps, were crispy and cooked to perfection, just the way they're supposed to be ... like in a fairy tale. Washed down with a diet Coke, this was a super great meal. I'm sad that, in our 26 years living in White Plains, this is my first visit to Dorry's. Our family has always frequented another diner in town, and now, I'll never be able to return to that 'other' diner as Dorry's food is so much better. I'm also sad at the 'hit & miss' revues I'm seeing here as today's visit was top notch. Highly recommended! My best friend, my neighbor, and I decided to go for lunch today and we decide to go to Dorry's Diner. Dorry herself helped us and gave us good suggestions for lunch. My friend and I both had a cheeseburger with coleslaw and pickle and fries and Coke zero and my neighbor had soup. Nice restaurant that used to be a coffee shop. I'm disappointed in order from this morning. Not only was part of the order incorrect, it was delivered and had been sitting in my building's lobby for an hour before I even knew it was delivered. I only knew because I reached out to GrubHub to find out why there hadn't been any updates and why it hadn't been delivered. There was no call or text regarding the delivery and it was cold by the time I knew it had been delivered. Very disappointed, especially considering we ordered for our toddler and that's the part of the order that was incorrect l. This was the second week that this happened. Tuna wrap was great. House made tuna salad was perefectly seasoned and not too wet. Didn't really feel welcome. Waiter wasn't friendly and seemed put off by my family. (I happen to think we're lovely but know that not everyone will see us that way. :)) i know the place was clean because it smelled very much like clorox. My daughter liked her quesadilla. Owner was around and also seemed unfriendly (strange because I've seen her positively mentioned in previous reviews.) Loved all the springstein memorabilia and the kitschy signs about coffee. Maybe this is the kind of place that caters to and really values its regulars? One blond waitress was actually very friendly to my children but she was a lone wolf in a den of indifference. Hate to write a less than positive review especially when I know a lot of restaurants are struggling right now. Total oldskool traditional diner, with everything your tummy desires, plus great service, and a good sense of humor coming from behind the counter! Warning; eggs Florentine are actually eggs Benedict if your traveling and just use different terminology - And they are Yum!! Outdoor Seating: I sat outside comfortably, on an urban sidewalk, totally undisturbed. I hope this restaurant, and all the others that might be new to outdoor seating since COVID get to keep this benefit. I love eating outdoors and don't always want to go fancy!! I've been to Dorry's Diner six times in 2 years and love it. I've only had omelettes with "burnt" home fries, which are fabulous, and buttered (of course) rye toast. And delicious coffee served in a large mug with real milk. They don't use that horrible milk in plastic cups. I usually bring home half and reheat in toaster oven for dinner. Nice menu and very reasonable prices. Large portions. Great decor filled with music memorabilia, a lot of it Bruce Springsteen. This in itself is worth the price of admission. Plus the music is wonderful. Easy parking on the street. Bring 4 quarters for an hour. Worth it! I did see a sign that there's free parking in the back. I live 25 miles away, and I look forward to my next visit to Dorry's Diner, either twice a year after seeing a White Plains doctor or meeting friends there from all over. Go! read more

I have the crab cake more than once and to my surprise they changed to FAKE crab. What is the point of making a crab cake with fake crab??! Not only the menu did not mention the change, but the price also goes up? One would think using fake crab should at least drop the price in half. ps. I don't know what the heck happened here in the last half year, but the food at Dorry's has gone way down hill. I used to love this diner and the staff has always been really cool, so I overlooked a few bad meals and figured they were off days. But its become increasingly clear that things here are really off, since the crappy meals never stop coming. Take the breakfast for example; whereas you once got crispy bacon, fresh home fries, piping hot buttered toast, and perfectly cooked omelets, you now get drastically undercooked eggs with the wrong/poor quality ingredients, cold home fries, soggy toast, and rubbery bacon. Just awful and very symptomatic of our last 3 morning visits. Western omlettes should be a blindfolded, 360 degree slam dunk for a diner, not a colossal f**k up. What the hell is going on here people?? We lamented the downfall of Dorry's all the way home. Sad day. read more

Would really like to enjoy this place since I live so close. Let me start - I can't stand seeing dirty dishes while I'm eating. There is a dish sink at the counter where people sit and eat. Brilliant design. Over easy eggs were way undercooked, scrambled eggs weren't scrambled, bacon had no flavor and I'm not sure what the deal was with the sausage disk. It had not flavor either. My wife and I met my daughter today at Dorry's to for a curb side breakfast. The food and service was incredible! I ordered an omelette and home fries and it was among the best I ever had. I let the owner know how much we really enjoyed our breakfast and told her we would be back! It was great to see the owner out there greeting and talking to her customers. Between the bad service and the terrible food. There is nothing to redeem this place. My wife ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich on a roll and the butter was rancid. The sandwich was inedible and when we told the owner she was completely unapologetic. She even said that no one else complained. Not only will I never go back.
