Grand Opening done right! Once Upon a Bagel has officially opened their fourth bagel shop in Arlington Heights. It is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking to accommodate guests. Their menu is expansive with bagels, bialys, deli sandwiches, salads, and more! When entering, grab a number from the counter to save your place in line. One orders at the counter and then pats at the register when the order is completed. The bagel case is behind the register so I recommend taking a look before going to order. I was thoroughly impressed by how many bagel flavors they had to offer! I got a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich on a Garlic Bagel (toasted). I was able to pick my cheese type, egg preparation, and ask for my bacon to be crispy. My sandwich was certainly made fresh and bagels were still fresh at lunchtime when I visited. The sandwich in total was $14 which is a bit steep but the flavor was amazing!! This is certainly a treat and a great bagel option in the Chicagoland area!

The cream cheese here is creamy dreamy and everything is homemade . I had to try the plain , walnut raisin , the flavor of the month with cilantro and the pimento . The bagels were all toasted to perfection. It's clean inside and bright . I might have to try a soup too . The girl who waited on me had a bright smile and was a sweetheart. Ps they also make homemade donuts . I'll be back !

I was looking forward to the opening of this location, unfortunately it was not what I hoped for. It is located in a strip mall in downtown Arlington Heights with limited parking. The store has beverages in a cooler, bakery items and bagels, spreads and salads. There were 4-5 customers standing and it was unclear if they ordered or were waiting for an order. When I placed by order, it was not smooth. I could not see the bagel choices since the worker was standing in front of them. I ordered a Turkey Club and had to ask what was included. Cheese was extra. Not sure what to expect. The sandwich was ok, the bagel was flat on the bottom and top. This is a traditional bagel, but it was dense and was not as flavorful as expected. The sandwich did have a generous amount of turkey, tomato, lettuce and bacon. It seemed it was all jut piled on. Prices are a bit steep for the quality.

service: went in around opening time on friday. technically they open at 8 but they'll open after they're done prepping which could be before 8. the staff was very friendly and gave good recommendations. one had even recommended jalapeño cream cheese on the cinnamon raisin (which we will try next time)! food: ordered the everything bagel with chives cream cheese (my favorite of the two) and the cinnamon raisin bagel with walnut raisin cream cheese. both bagels toasted. love the thick slab of cream cheese on both. they were very tasty. the bagel itself i wish were bigger. not the best bagels i've ever had but they may be the best in the neighborhood. looking forward to trying the breakfast sandwiches and other bakery items!

I got a pretty large order which was the amazing breakfast sandwich egg cheese and bacon. Matzo ball soup. Extra bagels. California chicken salad. Everything was mouthwatering and I will definitely be back!!!

Plain tuna sandwich. 10 bucks. So not worth it.

Paid 10.00 for a tuna sandwich. No lettuce no tomato no pickle no side. So low quality for 10 bucks. The young cashier didn't ask what I wanted on it. He has zero personality. This should have at least had lettuce and tomato or the kids should have asked. He never said thank you!! Won't be back.

Not grilled at all, not hot, not good!!!

Bagels are just fair and the prices really high. Cream cheeses are good but also expensive. Will not go back

Out of curiosity, I decided to check it out. Located across from the railroad tracks and near the Metra station, Dario's is a local institution that serves up tasty sandwiches and more. I liked their sandwiches options on the menu. The variety was good. I ordered their Fiesta Panini that's made with pulled pork, habañero aioli, muenster cheese, red peppers, red onions, and avocado. I wanted something to drink and I saw that they have homemade lemonade with cool, different flavors. I got me a small Guava Lemonade. My panini was freshly prepared. It had a good flavor w/ a nice kick of heat from the habañero aioli (but not spicy in the typical habañero flavor sense). The pulled pork was delicious in taste and texture along with the toppings of muenster cheese, the habañero aioli, red peppers, red onions, and avocado. I should've eaten only one half of the sandwich but I couldn't resist having more, so I finished it. The panini was darn delicious. I liked the restaurant's cozy dining area with outside light coming in. They have a nice patio area as well which would be perfect to sit at on a nice weather day. The staff were friendly and helpful. I liked Dario's a lot and will be going for more. Check them out.

The good about Dario's is the food. I was surprised and thought the sandwich and salad I had was…read morereally good! Haven't had a panini like that in a minute. However, my issue is that I went in with one other person and we ordered two paninis and two cans of sprite (one of each for each of us), with one salad bowl to share. It was $55 dollars after tax. Maybe it's me but it seems like a lot. The service isn't really a question here. It's not bad. They call your name, you grab your food, and bus your own table when you're done. Pretty standard. However, If they did that for you, the price wouldn't bother me as much because thats a proper service. To talk a bit about the restaurant itself, it's small with more space to eat outside than inside, but thats just lovely right now in the summer. The place looks clean too. They had complimentary coffee which was nice. The staff are reasonably young. Probably late high school or freshmen in college but that doesn't mean they can't do a good job. Overall, I don't know if I'd recommend this place to everyone. Im conflicted. I like big portions and quality foods of course, and this was great in flavor, just pricey. To reference the surrounding area, I can go here, or to Emits across the street which is consider the finest dining in downtown Palatine past the Argentinean Bendita and Bella Pizza, and spend around the same amount of money. Still the best panini I've had in a while though.

It says authentic Italian deli all over it. Not in a pretend way, but in an authentic way. The service is warm and welcoming. The list of sandwiches is abundant. There is something for every taste bud. I ordered the Al Pacino and my son a tuna sandwich. The portions are huge, the meat is fresh, thinly sliced and piled high. I smell it through the bag and couldn't wait until I got home to taste it. With the first bite, I was absolutely blown away. There is no comparison because the flavors out performs every sandwich shop in the area. We both enjoyed our sandwiches and I know I will certainly return again and again. What a wonderful gem!

We got in as someone was leaving. We asked how to access the building, and the cashier was really dismissive of our request. We asked for sandwich recs and the cashier was really reluctant and standoffish. After I got my sandwich, my wife said "thank you" and the cashier had zero response. It really must be hard times in the restaurant business to resort to getting help like this. I cannot recommend this play and I will not be going back. Maybe the original shop in the city is better. The sandwich itself won't be reviewed bc of the bitterness and rush in which I came to write this review.
