Nobody greeted you in this store. I was a bit confused as there were so many things in boxes in the front of the store that I wasn't sure if they were items of sale of things that just hadn't gotten stocked yet. There weren't a ton of things in the store and there seemed to be a lot of space behind the counter with things that hadn't gotten out on the shelves yet. I was grateful that I as able to find a few items. When checking out the woman wasn't friendly and really didn't say anything to me other than the total. Also kind of tucked away and hard to find. For a consignment shop, it was really well organized. Some of the clothing gets mixed together (probably from customers putting things back) so it's worth it to dig around if you are really looking for something. The clothing is well kept and I even found a few items NWT. The people were pleasant as well. I'll definitely be going back especially when looking for special occasion items. read more

I love buying second hand. This location and store always disappoints though. The employees always seem unhappy and rude, like the work environments is not a nice place to work. I'm sure it's not the people themself as much as management, it's always a trickle down. The toys they WONT buy in the reject area are always the ones my kids want and the "To Sell" items are always minimal and slim pickins. Shame on me! Bought a Catapillar plastic front loader for my grandchild. I asked the sales person if all the pieces were there and she said yes. I asked if it was put together to make sure it was correct. Yes was the answer. Grandchild just opened it up, and none of the pieces fit the toy. I had such a wonderful experience here! The ladies who run this shop are SO nice and they really know what they're doing. Expect to drop off your items and hear back from them about 5 days later to pick up your cash and leftover items......but if things are in good condition and relatively current they tend to accept things from all seasons! I was happy with the cash offer for about 100 toddler girl items ranging from boots to pajamas and clothing basics / jackets. Give it a try! I brought some clothes in to this location to sell. I received some clothing in good condition from a friend which included some holiday and seasonal outfits that wouldn't fit my son. Since they were from brands like Baby Gap, I brought them here. The items filled a large gift bag (onesies, shorts, pajamas, and a Pottery Barn crib skirt), and I was paid around $10. Of course that is nowhere near retail value, but they have to make some money off of what they buy from you. Considering I had no use for the items, $10 was better than nothing. The items they didn't purchase I took to Goodwill. They typically won't buy items like a vest, that goes with a matching set, unless you are selling the whole set. The selling process is easy. You fill out a form and leave your stuff. I was surprised by the lengthy turnaround here though. I dropped off on Sunday afternoon, and my items weren't ready until the next day. I had no other reason to drive across town, so this was slightly inconvenient. I haven't done any shopping here but from what I could tell the store was clean and well organized. read more

I went in here a few months ago selling a mamaroo and a big jumper both basically brand new. My LO didn't care for them. Very expensive very heavy items. They for sure took my mamaroo (got $20) that's a $200 item but whatever. About to cash out & the manager goes oh sorry we can't take the jumper it's missing (this tiny tiny toy) that goes on top which does absolutely nothing lol. I said okay I have it can I run back down the street & grab it? "UMMM NO BC YOU PROBABLY WONT COME BACK FOR IT" excuse me? I listed it on fb for $50 in which I was only going to get $15 for it there so why the heck would I leave it? So with my small baby I had to lug that thing back in the car just to go back home to get the toy. I didn't sell it to them. Rude as all hell I miss the old owners. read more

This location is a hit or miss but mostly a miss. Sometimes I find good shoes and polos for my son and other times there is literally nothing worth touching in the shoe bins. The staff is neither pleasant or attentive, the internet is always down so you can never keep up with how many reward points you have and someone has to be an idiot to write large numbers on the bottom of kids shoes with a permanent marker. I found some brand new Natives and was excited to give them as a gift but who can gift something with silver permanent marker large and sloppily written across the entire width of the shoe? The bathroom always smells like cigarettes, the cashiers are always snacking while working and touching peoples clothes... Highly disappointed, this location is definitely not worth the drive or hassle. read more

Went in on Saturday to sell some items, when asked about when it would be done was told maybe today if not tomorrow (Sunday). If your that far behind with buys, maybe not take anymore?!? At least until you can catch up. Didn't hear anything back and called on Monday to get a status. Basically was told if I didn't get my stuff my items would just be donated! EXCUSE ME?!?! I've been shopping at Once Upon a Child since before my baby was even born. We chose to have the sex of our baby be a suprise, so instead of invest a lot of money in yellow, orange, and light green baby clothes I decided to shop at once upon a child and have been shopping there ever since. It is very organized by sizes and sex and offers a large selection. You can expect to pay about 1/4-1/2 of what the item would cost brand new. Occasionally they have sales that offer even deeper discounts. You can sign up for their mailing list and they will send you alerts. The last one I received was for a 30% off Mothers day sale that lasted for a week. My favorite thing to get there are pants for my little boy. I prefer utility and cargo type pants for him and they have a good selection. I've also found Ralph Lauren brand sweaters that are so cute on him. I'm pretty picky when it comes to tops, because I'm not into shirts with sayings or characters on them so that limits my selection quite a bit, but I've found a few polo type shirts there too. This is definitely a smart solution for those that want to save some money on clothing for their child, and in my opinion it's better than going to garage sales where your limited to a smaller selection of whatever style of clothing the seller has and the condition of the clothes may be good or may not. read more

3 stars is about right. I'm not going to trash the staff because like anywhere else I've had really good experiences and some not so good experiences. For the most part selection is decent, clothes are in good shape, and face facts that's the main part right there. It does seem to me like they have very high turn over because I seem to see new faces whenever we pop in there. At the end of the day you're in a 2nd hand place, so naturally they're going to buy your stuff at maximum 1/4 of the price if you're lucky, and sometimes it's worth it, that or donate it. The store definitely needs some updating to make it a bit more modern and flow better, but that's just me. If you're in the market for 2nd hand clothes, it is what it is. read more

First off I have to preface this with the most obvious reason I like this place. I hate,hate,hate buying children's clothing new. I am a new mom, and I went through the phase of buying new clothes and quickly realized that there is no way that a pair of jeans for a 9 month old is worth 20 bucks. Okay, on with the review. The Good: Well organized, friendly staff, very good condition clothing, almost everything is sized properly, they carry things other than clothing like baby carriers, bassinets, strollers, and un-used zippy cups, pacifiers, etc. The Bad: I'm a mother of a boy, two thirds of the clothes are for girls, the onesies are not organized by gender and most of them are newborn- 6 months. They only sell the seasonal clothes, so you can't "upsize" for the next year unless you really want to take a gamble. They have a ton of somethings (like baby carriers, highchairs,strollers, and playsets) out in plain sight. but relegate the things I would probably consider a find (crib sheets, bibs, shoes, blankets) to big bins that are inconvenient to sort through. I know it's a kid store but there is always some random kid running around seemingly unaccompanied (dude I get it, but there is an actual play area for them to go crazy in). The aisles are very narrow for a stroller so when you are shopping you usually have to shove your stroller into the clothes to have somebody pass. And back to the boys clothes, some of the stuff that is labeled 12-18 months is only in 18 months, while some of it is in 12 months, it just grinds my gears that I have to search through A TON OF 18 months jeans to find a pair of 12-18, why not have a 12-18 month section? Overall, I would highly recommend this store to mothers of girls, and sort of recommend it to mothers of boys. I have found some good things here like high end items (Janie and Jack, Hanna Anderson, and Calvin Klien) I don't come here as often as I would if they carried out of season things. Garage sale clothes priced much higher than you'd find at a garage sale. There were rows of girls' shirts that looked like they were made in the late 90s selling for $4.50. There was a nice selection of strollers and baby toys, but I was disappointed in the clothes, and felt that they weren't priced very well. When I tried to sell clothes and a double stroller, I didn't feel I got a fair price, and so sold nearly everything on Craigslist--making $40 more on what Once Upond a Child had offered me for my nearly new double stroller. My advice is to sell your items on Craigslist, or in an old-fashioned garage sale. read more

Organized, Organized, Organized. Just what I like to see!! We no long have a OUAC in Streamwood, so this is probably the closest one to us, unfortunately. My son and I came shopping here one day after a special lunch out. Everything here is well-labeled, of higher quality than I am used to seeing, and it is really well-priced. Pricier for name-brand stuff (like Gap, Justice, Gymboree), but that's to be expected! Lots of toys and baby equipment (although we are SO not in the market for that stuff anymore) but there was a lot to choose from there, so that is good! read more

They have gently used and new children's items. Basically it reminds me of a Goodwill, but specifically for babies. This location is very clean and organized compared to others that I have been to. The clothing prices seem to be much cheaper and I've found a much better selection of clothing at this store, but less furniture, car seats, and strollers. Overall I have no complaints. Much like with any other thrifting it is better to go early and to go often, so just keep that in mind. read more

Gently-used children's stuff. They wear their clothes such a short time, it's easy to find good quality used clothes here, plus winter coats, toys, and the bigger equipment. The shoes are usually worn, I pass on them. It's a good place to sell the brand-name things you no longer use. read more

I'm a new mom on a budget which means I need stuff on the cheap. I scored a 10.00 Halloween costume and some super cute clothes with tags still attached, also cheap. I got a Baby Einstein DVD for 8.00 which seemed a little high but it's supposed to guarantee a super smart baby, right? The store was crowded and the aisles are narrow so probably best to hit it on a week day. Also, very organized and pretty clean. I'm impressed and plan to go back for more baby stuff. read more

Horrid customer service!!!! I have never been treated so poorly in my life! I called to ask a simple question, and the woman (who claimed to be an owner), acted as if I were asking her for an organ! When I told her how horrible she was treating me, she said, "well, whatever, we have 60-80 donations a day, is there anything else?!!?" I have shopped and donated at the Crest Hill and Orland Park locations both have had extremely good service. Maybe that's why they have the gold star rating! I would never shop here, nor donate anything to this horrible place. Which, according to the woman I spoke to, "doesn't matter", because they are extremely busy. She also informed me that each OUAC are independently owned, and when I commented that I can see why her franchise didn't receive the gold star, she hung up on me! Awful, awful place!!!! read more

Every time I come here the employees are grumpy and rude. They don't give fair prices on the items they do purchase, I heard an employee tell a woman that they would sell her item for $30 so they wanted to offer $12 to buy it from her. If I could give this place no stars I would. I have been here multiple times. They have a bell that dings when you walk in yet they NEVER greet anyone with a hello. The employees there don't seem to like to work! There were McDonald's bags placed all over the place and they all acted like they were on break. Every time I go in there all I hear about are there personal conversations. You walk up to the counter and stand there for a while and they just look at you! Evidently they are "too busy" to take your money! Awful customer service. They really should hire people that care, because they have definitely lost my business! read more

Worst staff at all the stores I've been to! I dropped off before 11 and they told me it would be a couple hours so I just browsed around the areas, at 2:30 I called them and they told me they were still working on yesterday's drop off and it would still be a few more hours- I live 30 mins away from the store so I didn't want to drive home and have to drive back- they finally called at 4:30 and told me it was ready. I go back and my basket is a mess, they had separated outfits -which I told them not to do, and we're extremely rude and talking about previous customers negatively the entire time I was there. After all the negative- for two outfits and two onesies, out of an entire basket full of clothes my son wore maybe once with no stains and still in date appearance, I got a whopping $2.15! I have been to this store on two occasions and the experience is poor simply due to lack of communication with the customers. They don't seem to have an effective way to communicate their store policy for taking and reviewing items. This store does not operate like most of the others. You are required to bring your items in an 18 gallon Rubbermaid tote. If you bring the items in a larger tote they will refuse and they do not take clothes in bags. I think you may be able to bring items in a laundry basket as well but am not sure. I spoke to the owner Becky and she was understanding about it being frustrating for a customer since the "rules" for drop off are not what is posted on the main corporate website and had apparently been removed from the Naperville locations specific website. She said she would repost them on the Naperville locations specific site since all stores are franchised and individually owned. The store is clean and organized and I appreciate that she is running a business however due to the poor communication of additional regulations and attitude of staff we will no longer be going to the Naperville location. When I spoke of the reviews on Google, yelp etc... and how maybe posting requirements in a more creative ways may help the owner seemed to be too busy to communicate effectively with her customers. Something as simple as collecting email addresses and sending out blanket emails with updated requirements to you customers, keeping your website up to date and being respectful to your customers instead of rude will go a lot further than what is currently experienced in this store. It is unfortunate that the customer service is way below acceptable at the Naperville location and because of this it appears many people have made the choice to not go back. read more

This place is awful. I went there to sell a few things and after I loaded everything into the store. They said they wouldn't be taking any of my big items, ie: train table, etc. Then I had to re-load my whole car back up. These items were in excellent condition too, I was so confused. When I asked them how long it would take to look through my 2 bins of clothes, they told me it would probably take all day and I should come back tomorrow, I thought that was a joke. I had probably 40 pieces of Boden clothes so it was their loss, I went straight to goodwill and donated. I would never go there again. This place is ridiculous. read more

Their national website says that this is just fine but they wouldn't budge. I go to the one in oak brook terrace, and I love that store. However I like it a lot better with the older staff! This new one is very lazy, and bad customer service. I take items in and the ones the girl pulls out that are good the other girl who is pricing them just takes them all out. I asked her to show me what's wrong with them and I get attitude and she just throws them back in the bin and says fine I'll take them. Terrible service, I drive to naperville from now on.
