Wish I had read the reviews on this company before starting with them 8 years ago. I have my furnace cleaned yearly at my OWN expense to avoid any damage and repairs associated with a dirty furnace. When the technician came out and cleaned furnace he noticed I had a cracked heat exchanger, I had asked him how much the price would be to fix the issue. He quoted me $2,700.00 for labor to replace heat exchanger and the heat exchanger would be free as there was a thirty year warranty from the manufacture or $4,300.00 for a new furnace, his advice was to replace the unit as it was 18 years old, I let him know I had a repair warranty on the furnace and I would have to call Pivotol home solutions to have them give me the go ahead since this was my HVAC contractor. When I called the representative she said as long as they are a licensed HVAC go ahead and use them and you will be reimbursed up to $2,500.00 for repairs, she then sent me a reimbursement form to fill out and return. After further thought I questioned why I'd through $2,700.00 into a 18 year old furnace and called Pivotol to ask them if I can just use that $2,500.00 toward a new furnace and I would put in the difference of $1,800.00 plus taxes. The Pivotol representative said Oh' no! the previous representative should have told you our company provided contractor has to come out to look at furnace to see if it is repairable or if he deems it then we will go that route of giving you $2,500.00 toward a new furnace. HVAC company for Pivotol comes next day and deems furnace saying changing the heat exchanger would take too long to replace as they would have to take apart the whole furnace to replace, hence my contractors $2,700.00 labor charge. I then call Pivotal and get a new representative to start process of my $2,500.00 reimbursement toward new furnace , she proceeds to tell me Pivotal will only be giving you $250.00 as furnace isn't worth anything. I then proceed to tell her my contractor was willing to repair unit and if I have a plan that covers up to $2,500 then the unit should be repaired, I was then told unit has been deemed and we can only give you $250.00 and the other representative for Pivotal gave you misleading information and sent you wrong form anyways for reimbursement. I then ask her to send me my terms and conditions so I can review, about a month and two phone calls later latter I get terms and conditions in the mail, on the bottom of page they say 2018, I called and ask them to send me the terms and conditions from 2014 when I began the service plan. After 45 minutes on the phone a supervisor named Regina gets on the phone and says we do not have terms and conditions from 2014 and $250.00 is all you will be getting, I proceed to tell her that is incorrect as you should have my contract available or send me my $2,500.00 as your representatives told me I'd be receiving, Regina then stated she would have to call be back no latter than the next day to let me know if they can locate the 2014 terms and conditions. Well a week goes by and no call from Regina (No surprise) but I did get a letter with my 2014 Terms and conditions and a settlement offer of $250.00. I then called to cancel plan I'm still being charged for a deemed unit and I'm told you cant cancel before recieving your $250.00 or you will not receive check, then told check can take up to six weeks to receive. In the end I will get $250.00 for paying eight years of service. My advice to anyone would be to stay away from this company and place $20.00 in a jar every month for repairs and you will be better off. Also read the previous reviews and notice how the company representative ask for the reviewer to sent a "personal message" to her so they can help. The Tech called when he was parked in our driveway. He was wearing his mask when he came to the door. I explained what was happening with our Dryer. We had another Service Call for the same issue several months ago. We made the correction, or I thought, that were recommended from the last Service Call. The Tech took a picture behind the Dryer and said again, the Hose is getting kinked and it's blocking the air/moisture from exiting the Dryer. We pulled the Dryer away from the wall so I could get a better look. He shared with me to get a Rigid Pipe and that Should resolve the issue. I said I would do that and also leave the Dryer pulled away from the wall. Later that day I had done a Wash Load and placed everything in the Dryer. I set it for 60 minutes and came back in 45 to check to see if the clothes felt like they were drying. Everything was dry and I turned it off. I had run a similar size load just a few days prior and had to run it for 2 hours. Thanks to the Tech sharing with me again we now will save a lot of Electricity/Money. I'm also going to get the other pipe and continue leaving the Dryer pulled away from the wall. We have Home Solutions on just about EVERYTHING except our Big Box Freezer in the Basement. I didn't even know we could get it covered until about a week ago. We've saved so much Money having the Home Solutions Coverage. We have our 2 Furnaces inspected twice a year which is included in the package. Whatever Subcontractor Nicor uses we've had good luck with their service. I have been with Nicor Home Solutions insurance since 2017, coverage includes my furnace. Last week, in the depth of the frigid winter, my furnace broke totally. Nicor Home Solutions technician Ross came. He diagnosed it promptly and accurately: a cracked heat exchanger. He explained his finding in details and advised me to replace the heat exchanger. The other alternative would not only risk frequent repeat furnace failures, but also carbon monoxide poisoning. The replacement cost would have been huge, in the thousands, but because of my Nicor Home Solutions coverage, I would pay close to nothing. After waiting for a while for the parts (I presumed local supplies were exhausted due the the high demands during the severe winter), Scott and his team came to my home immediately after picking up the parts. They were very courtous and professional, and worked very orderly and efficiently, and gave me great explanation of the work done. Now my furnace runs like new again. I am very satisfied. And best of all, for all of that, everything was covered, I paid absolutely nothing! read more

When I called Nicor I was able to get an appointment within two days. I was told that our coverage was for the pipes; if there was a problem with the faucet then it would not be covered. Our situation was that we had not been getting hot water from the faucet in our shower for quite some time. Recently, the water was only lukewarm, but it was inconsistent-some days , almost hot, other days lukewarm. When Mike and his assistant came from Center Guard Plumbing they were wearing masks and were very polite. When I described our problem, Mike diagnosed it immediately. He said we needed a new cartridge inside the faucet. Unfortunately, this wasn't covered by Nicor, but we had been warned about that possibility before making the appointment. The cost was reasonable and now we can have scalding hot water if we so choose. This is the second time we have had Center Guard come to our house recently. Our former problem was a leaking pipe in our garage. That time Nicor covered the entire cost which was significant. We are very satisfied with Nicor Home Solutions. read more

I've had NICOR HOME SOLUTIONS doing semi-annual clean and checks of my Carrier HE furnace and A/C for 9 years. On the latest visit this month, they found a potentially lethal problem with my furnace that developed during the extreme cold weather we had earlier this year. The secondary heat exchanger was failing causing combustion "back-up" that showed up as scorching (burns) on one of the furnace burners. The tech that initially found the problems did a thorough job cleaning the furnace and diagnosing the issue. He provided clear options for either warrenty repair (at no charge) or replacement of my existing furnace with a brand new, equivalent HE furnace. I chose the warrenty option. Two days later, a tech called to schedule the repairs. This tech completely disassembled the furnace, replaced the primary and (3) secondary heat exchangers and three burners all at no cost to me. I couldn't be happier with the results and the work both tech did to fix a BIG problem. read more

I was happy with it as it came in handy my outside sewer line broke they sent out roto rohoo plumbing idk but first time they didn't fix right spot then came back and fixed break but didn't backfill so broke again house smells like sewer then rates raise and being told I will not be provided with any paperwork to justify their charges. I had a credit on my account they nipsco and owe almost $300 this month gaa furnace has been on 13 days so anyways eotot bills out 10k in work orders to home solutions for nothing this far. I've been billed hundreds of dollars for nothing at an agreement for 5.99 and 1.99 inside and outside line protection. I'm thinking sounds like a racket to me scratch my back . I believe that when I call Nicor Home Solutions with an issue I will receive the service I need promptly and that I can trust the people that Nicor sends to do the work. I think my 14 year old house has pretty typical needs and Nicor Home Solutions has handled all manner of issues quickly and professionally. The phone representatives are always polite and the servicemen they send have been very honest, conscientious and pleasant and have done a professional job and fixed the issue. So far, I have had no issues with Nicor Home Solutions or any of the Companies they have sent to do the work. I have had the service for at least 6 years. Furnace went on the blink last night, was only 66 degrees in the house. Called Nicor Home Solutions, stated they would have someone here between 8 and 12pm. Guy called at 830, said would be here between 9 and 930. Showed up as promised. Currently looking at my furnace. This is the first time I have had to use them. Very nice gentleman. No charge call. Ordered a part to be replaced but furnace is working!! I am glad I purchased the Whole House service product. Hope any additional issues I have are resolved in this efficient manner and not just for my first call. read more

I've been a customer of Nicor home solution for 3 years now . Call them about my dryer not getting hot (Mr. Fix it) send a technician out he would not even look at my dryer, had to call the company to report the technician. (Dyer did get fixed my Mr. Fix it on the second call). Refrigerator was freezing everything freezer, called nicor and A&G was on it the next day. They removed my fixtures when they upgraded my plan. Promised to still fix my issue that had to do with fixtures. Never sent the upgraded claim to the repair company. Never had a manager call me back, never reviewed my recorded call as promised and their call center is in Columbia so good luck getting back to the person that promises you anything. Cannot say enough good things about this service and when my home sold, there were no problems during inspection because of the years having this warranty. New home, brought them with me. I highly recommend Nicor Home Solutions. Since I have had this service I have gotten a new hot water tank, washer, dryer and dishwasher and have had my central air repaired.
