We came here with a group of people on a Saturday night. It was surprisingly crowded, luckily we had made a reservation in advance. We were the youngest folks here, more of an older crowd. One Bistro is located inside the modernly appointed Four Points by Sheraton. While I would not normally consider this a dining destination, I enjoyed my visits while staying at the hotel for a wedding. My first trip consisted of a few rounds of drinks with some friends. I was shocked by the substantial list of unusual beers and interesting cocktails. My girl friend and I were able to coax her boyfriend into ordering a strawberry brew for us to sneak sips of. She doubled up on the sweets with the Carmel Bailey's-infused Snickers Martini for herself. Both drinks were delicious. My vodka and club soda was a bit strong, but at least I got my money's worth! The bartender had been very accommodating and allowed us to linger close to an hour past the last call. My second trip to One Bistro was for the wedding's after-party. My friends and I started the celebration with several cocktails, but were disappointed that shots were not allowed in the classy bar. As time went by, our hunger surprisingly returned, and we ordered some of their bar appetizers. The crowd huddled around crisp Calamari Rings, which were accompanied by a Sweet and Spicy Dipping Sauce. The crunchy snack was perfectly cooked, and the side marinade was a flavorful compliment. The Warm Artichoke Dip, however, was loaded with cream and extremely underdone. I prefer my dip to have more substance and less cheesy goo. The bonus pita chips were stale, and the corn tortillas were an odd addition. We were all happy to partake in the family-style snacking, but were only mildly impressed with the quality. One Bistro is a low-key spot to enjoy drinks and a quick meal, but is only worth visiting if you are a guest at the hotel. read more

I'm usually skeptical of hotel restaurants, but after reading all of the positive reviews on Yelp and seeing that the owner responds to both good and bad reviews, I decided to try this place out (plus I wanted some Open Table points). I brought my wife here for a Sunday brunch to celebrate our ninth wedding anniversary. When we arrived at 11:00 a.m. it was quiet, but by the time we left, it was quite busy. We waited a couple of minutes to be greeted, but the hostess was very nice and seated us quickly. Our server was excellent and patient with our indecisiveness. I also noticed that the staff was excellent with other customers. The complimentary basket of freshly baked breads was one of the highlights of the meal, as was the freshly squeezed OJ ($2.50). I had one of the specials-pulled pork eggs Benedict. While I wish the portion was a little bigger, the quality and flavor of the food was fantastic. My wife has the bistro burger which was equally as delicious (as were the fries). We ordered the Belgian chocolate mousse for dessert. Unfortunately the dessert took longer to come out than our entrees did, but it was not enough of a delay to ruin an amazing dining experience. We hope to return in the near future! read more

A hotel restaurant is supposed to be the last refuge for a weary traveler featuring overpriced and bland food. One Bistro is none of that. The food is carefully crafted by the chef, flavorful and spot on. Even though you have local gems nearby (like Northern Spy), one Bistro is well worth the visit. It's the one restaurant that makes this weary traveler choose the hotel it is attached to. I have only one regret; the Korean ribs are no longer on the menu. read more

I didn't expect to like this place as much as I did! It was attached to the hotel we were staying at, so my mother and I came here for dinner and were pleasantly surprised. They had a great selection of beer, and the cocktails all sounded great. We had the calamari to start, which was delicious and a large portion for an appetizer. For dinner, my mother had the burger and enjoyed it. I had the seared shrimp scampi which was delicious. The shrimp were huge! If this place were closer to me, or I'm in the area again, I would gladly come back. Only downside to our visit -- there must have been a wedding the night we were here. The bar was quiet when we arrived, but by the end of our meal it was packed and impossible to have a conversation. Kind of a bummer, but also not the bar's fault that the wedding didn't have a separate cocktail hour area for their guests. read more

Great food and drinks! One time I ordered a burger well done and it arrived medium rare, but they made me a new one and gave us a dessert on the house. I went to this restaurant for quick snack after arriving late. I ordered the Bruschetta. It was not good at all, they my placed it on SOFT bread. The ingredients were fresh and balsamic dressing was good. The only reason it got more than 1 star was freshness. The bartender was very nice and the place seemed well taken care of, very clean. My guess is this is a typical hotel restaurant...nothing great, but won't hurt you. Dinner prices are a bit high from looking at the menu, and not a kid friendly menu. read more

One Bistro has a nice ambiance about it, but don't let that lull you into ignoring the exorbitant prices. You'll pay a semi-upscale price for food that doesn't quite meet the mark. Not to say that the food is bad. Everything is cooked well, but there's just that little bit missing when it comes to the flavors that entices you to come back for more. Beware of the up-charges also. Want to add steak "medallionS" to your caesar salad? That'll be $12 for ONE small piece of steak. My husband and I decided to try the Bistro last night. I love a good risotto and seeing the Seafood Risotto on the menu drew me in. We arrived early for a couple of drinks at the bar. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the bartenders were nice. It pretty much ended there. We were seated into the dining area, which was nice. I liked the open kitchen. I ordered the risotto and my husband opted for the prime rib special cooked medium rare. The entrees arrived quickly, and while the presentation was nice, the taste was nothing to write home about. For the prices charged here I expected much better. Some of my shrimp were undercooked, and my husband's prime rib was absolutely rare and the mashed potatoes were cold - more like freezing. I asked for some parm to enhance the flavor of the risotto. The waitress came over and grated on the cheese, I asked her to stop and she dumped a good tablespoon, maybe 2, right on top of one of the scallops and just walked away. We did not see her again until it was time for the check. We gave her our credit card, she returned and basically threw the check back down on the table. She's lucky we gave her a tip at all. There are so many great places in the Norwood, Wrentham and Foxboro Area these days. This place is not worth the time or money. Maybe the lunch experience here is better. read more

Twice I visited One Bistro in Norwood. The first time was the most embarrassing -- for the restaurant. We went to celebrate a friend's recent engagement, and were seated early, a bit before our friends arrived. When the waitress handed us our menus, I made the comment casually that we were there probably for the drinks mostly, and maybe would get some appetizers. She took the menus back and went to get a manager, who came over to inform us that these tables were for customers eating full dinners. She suggested the bar (which seats 7 or 8 people and was of course full); It wasn't like they were even at half capacity, but either way, the writing was on the wall: We should leave. The second time was for Mother's Day brunch. My 94-year-old grandmother likes the place, so we tried it again. The food took an hour and was at best adequate. The waitress was inattentive, perhaps because our party was large enough to trigger the automatic tip. My wife's order was wrong and had to be returned. The only difference for me was that the poor service didn't surprise me this time. read more

One Bistro is the standard go-to for my co-workers. Considering our office is across the street and next door, we're always popping in when in town. I am a huge fan of the seafood chowder and the chocolate lava cake (and have been for 6 years now). Whenever I visit I always have to get the chowder at a minimum. The seafood chowder is cream based with a roux, so it's really thick and rich in the mouth. The scallops, shrimp and clam pieces are never chewy, just nicely cooked. The potatoes are also properly soft and melt when pressed against the roof of your mouth. Toss in a couple oyster crackers and you're set. This, a couple of rolls and maybe a salad and you could be full. One Bistro did the chocolate lava cake dessert before it became a trendy dessert option a few years ago. Theirs is always super rich, but how cooked the cake portion is depends on who makes it. I have had it entirely lava with just a crust of cake and then other times entirely cake with a tiny, jiggly center. The vanilla ice cream it's served with it always good. The seafood tower appetizer is really filling. I have ordered just that for dinner in the past. Raw items have been fresh and simply presented. Pizzas are good, espeically if you don't want to dent the wallet. They are large and very tasty. The wood oven cooking is a nice touch. The specials board usually has some creative entrees, but other times it's a standard menu item with mixed up sides or toppings. Bistro, my a$$. I had never heard of One Bistro, but my aunt wanted to go there. I didn't bother checking Yelp because the decision had been made. To say I was non-plussed would be an understatement. "Upscale meets casual" indeed. The prices are upscale and everything else is just a bit familiar. You'd be better off at TGI Friday's or something. This is an example of a place that clearly is trying to be "elevated" but is just nothing more than your standard bar and grill wrapped up in a few half-hearted bistro touches. This place would be a one-star rating aside from two things; my aunt enjoyed her meal for the most part and the waitress, Glenda, was super-pleasant and worked her butt off to make everything OK. But it took forever to get bread (the busboy/breadboy seemed a bit like a hot mess). The manager who ran the food was devoid of personality, and he dragged his cheap, used car salesman sport coat through my aunt's bread and butter and various other plates on the table (seriously dude? Button that ugly thing or don't wear it). The ambiance was a lame attempt at "bistro" but was more a low-budget attempt at dressing up a hotel bar. The french onion soup, or as they call it, Onion Soup Gratinee, wasn't much better than the Lipton stuff from the box. The stock was weak and watered down, the onions really didn't have much going on, they were more flavorless than savory and the crouton in the soup had a rubbery texture of a piece of Wonder Bread that was nuked for too long. Moreover, it was clear the soup sat on the line for a while. Rather than coating the whole top, it was a brown mess with a little cheese island floating in the middle. The rest of the cheese was petrified around the crock. Next up, Parmesan Crusted Chicken with Risotto (along with a vegetable medley). The chicken's breading was burnt and dry without a hint of parmesan to be tasted. The vegetables looked like they'd seen much better days, sort of like they were sitting around drying out under a light. But the worst offense was the risotto. Let me make one thing clear to all the would-be restauranteurs of the world. Risotto is not an easy dish to get right unless you really know what you're doing. If you can't do it, don't put it on the menu. Spare your guests the disappointment of your sad attempts. Risotto should be creamy and soft to gently al dente. One Bistro's looked like a mound of Uncle Ben's on the plate. The seasoning was OK, but it didn't matter because this risotto's consistency was so inconsistent, ranging from gummy to just plain hard, that it was inedible. Suffice to say two hours later, I left hungry. Do yourself a favor. Just stay away. read more

Ok, I'll start with the positive. The service was efficient. Oh, and the bread was good. That's where the good reviews end. We ordered 3 salads. Two "one bistro" salads and only one was supposed to have chicken. Both came out with chicken on them - not good for the vegetarian. Both salads were supposed to have beets and potatoes. Each salad had HALF of a beet and NO potatoes. To finish the meal, we ordered 3 cappuccinos. They were the worst cappuccinos in the history of coffee. No foam on any of them. The two decafs tasted like chemicals and smelled even worse. My regular smelled like cloves (who puts cloves instead of cinnamon on cappuccino?) Not knowing my friend's coffee was gross, I added sugar in and stirred...the liquid underneath was watery white...absolutely no coffee in my cup! The manager came over to ask how everything was and when we filled her in on the salad and coffee mishaps, all she could say was "sorry" - no offer to rectify the situation. This restaurant is a hidden gem. I have been here twice for my company's holiday lunch. Each time everyone has been happy with their meal and impressed with the service. The restaurant is very clean and the decor is nice. The kitchen is open which is kind of cool...seeing the chefs at work. The menu has a good variety to fit everyone's tastes. We went in last Friday night for drinks and apps at the bar. As soon as my wife and I entered we were greeted warmly by the host person. She checked for open seats at the bar and helped us over. As soon as we sat the bartender, Brian, again greeted us and asked if we would like to see the new drink menu. We ordered two drinks off the menu. Both were delicious. He also asked if we would be needing a dinner menu. We ordered a Tenderloin medallion app and a for spring baked Brie app. Both were delicious. The beef medallion melted on your tongue and the Brie was sweet and creamy. I would recommend both. We stayed and ordered a couple more drinks and met some really wonderful people at the bar. The manager Justin even took the time to check on us. A very good experience. We will be there again this weekend. A great find for our neighborhood. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Getting three stars only because the wait staff was excellent, and the food was very good. Otherwise... this is a one-star review for the manager in particular. My children took me to One Bistro yesterday for Fathers Day brunch. Party of six, with a reservation for 11:15. We stood right next to the hostess's podium, and yet she somehow forgot us until 11:22. When she "noticed" six people blocking access, she brought us to a table, but could only find three menus. Several minutes later, she returned with three more menus. Of course by that time, we had already shared among ourselves. Our excellent waitress, Arcely, took orders quickly. And then... the long wait began! The open kitchen was apparently unprepared to provide things as simple as eggs Benedict, waffles, pancakes, in any kind of efficient way. We watched four cooks bump into each other for quite a while. At 12:25 pm, Jemo, who apparently is the manager, came to our table with the most insincere apology I've ever heard. And when asked how much longer, he became somewhat beligerent. When pressed, he mumbled "five or ten minutes," and walked away. A table nearby, who it appeared waited even longer, were told by this alleged manager, "Well, this isn't Denny's." No kidding. Denny's would have had us fed and out the door in less than an hour! We did get our food just short of the promised ten more minutes. Good food, but not worth the wait! Overall, an unfortunate experience. Perhaps if Jemo were more interested in managing, instead of spending all his time leaning over the open wall into the kitchen, apparently contributing nothing, things could have been different. With the number of options in the area, we won't be heading back to One Bistro any time soon. Good all around experience. My girlfriend and I went here around 8pm on a Friday night. We were seated within 5 minutes of arriving. Food: I ordered the NY sirloin, medium rare. The steak came out exactly as ordered and the sides were very good (risotto and broccolini). My girlfriend got the chicken parm which was good. For dessert we ordered the chocolate peanut butter tart (delicious!). Drinks: Drinks were all very good. Gf had the kiwi margarita (really good) and then the sangria. It melted in my mouth. I find One bistro to have good food but this was superb. I had a Manhattan which was pefect and Caesar salad. I also love their Sunday brunch. Vegetarian Benedict is the best. Again, this is a WONDERFUL place for dinner. Been here maybe 10 since my last review. We always do the "Early Bird" special ($16.95 for a 3 course meal) which are all top shelf quality. The service here is ALWAYS AWESOME. ALL of the servers are OUTSTANDING, but Rita and I are particularly fond of Yvonne and Marykate. You won't find better service ANYWHERE. What a nice restaurant is hiding in the Norwood Sheraton! I came here with colleagues during work and was pleased by the upscale atmosphere and great salads. I had the crab salad, while my colleagues really enjoyed the salad of the day creation with huge portions of grilled chicken (an entire chicken breast, it appeared). The service was very good and attentive and well paced. I had no idea this place was that good. I generally shy away from hotel restaurants, but definitely want to go back and try this place for dinner. Nice! read more
