I wish I could give this place 100 stars. My wife and I got married on November 9, and what should've been the happiest week of our lives turned momentarily chaotic when our original dinner venue canceled on us two days before the wedding. Total panic. We called One Bourbon on a longshot, expecting a "sorry, we're closed." Instead, they did something absolutely unbelievable: they opened their restaurant -- on a day they're normally closed -- just for us. That kind of kindness is almost unheard of. From the moment we walked in, the staff treated us like family. They set up a beautiful, intimate space, took incredible care of our guests, and made sure everything flowed seamlessly. The food was fantastic. The cocktails were perfection. And every single person there felt genuinely invested in making our wedding reception special. Because of them, our day went from almost falling apart to being absolutely unforgettable. Everyone at our reception raved about the experience -- and so are we. If you want a place with incredible food, amazing drinks, and a staff who actually gives a damn about people, go to One Bourbon. They earned customers for life that night. Thank you Meg, Matt, and staff for saving our wedding day and turning it into something magical.

People sleep on this place. One of the best happy hours in Grand Rapids because it's everyday they're open, including Saturdays till 6pm! The cocktails are $2 off and half off wine. Such a good deal. Plus the food is delicious and service is great. We had Matt for my birthday meal and was fantastic! He even recognized us when we came back a week later.

Celiac Foodie; Great experience & the food was so good! We sat out back on the porch, perfect weather, Nate was our top-notch waiter with an easy going personality and cocktails are darn tasty! Celiacs, we have 5 entrees, one appetizer and a flourless brownie. The Mahi-Mahi dish is so delicious with Cajun seasoning & Garlic Grits. Best part, the atmosphere is inviting, laid back and creates a fun-vibe feeling! Check out the drinks, order some food and relax! No illness from consuming GF food. Happy Dining!

I will seriously always give OB a 5/5 rating, even just based off of the whiskey sour ALONE. The service is fabulous, the owner is constantly working the host stand, and they present your check in a nifty contraption that her father woodworked for the restaurant. Anytime I'm feeling down, I pop up to the whiskey lined bar and order a caesar salad, mashed potatoes and one (okay two) whiskey sour. What I appreciate most about OB, is the rotating monthly specials and the classic cocktail menu that is very whiskey/bourbon forward (duh). Truly a gem to the westside, and don't forget the patio!

Alaskan Halibut - March 2025

We had a reservation for 14 on 8/1. Our tables were ready when we arrived and we were greeted fairly promptly. Took a little while to get our drinks ordered. I ordered an extra dirty martini w blue cheese olives. I was told no blue cheese olives, which is fine, NBD. I got a regular martini with regular olives. The second one I ordered she brought me a sidecar of olive juice because the server realized that the drink wasn't cloudy enough to be extra dirty, instead of having them remake it. Also, this one DID have blue cheese olives. For the tables we got the biscuit boards - if you look at my pictures it literally was cold hard biscuits, pre sliced meat and cheese (looked like something you'd get a a grocery store deli), pickles, pickled onions, butter and some bland jam. These were pretty disappointing, especially for almost $30. Two of us got the Alaskan Halibut and were underwhelmed. I had many bones in mine and not a ton of flavor, the wild rice blend and veggies was very sub par and not anything that I couldn't make at home with minimal ingredients. Again, disappointed for $42. The resounding comments were it was just, meh. Okay. Which is pretty disappointing considering our bill was over $150 per couple. I will say our server did a good job of keeping us all straight, as all the couples were sitting at different tables and it got to be confusing for her. She was friendly and did keep glasses full once we got the initial ones. Overall, will not run back. Prices seemed out of line, considering they were on par with higher end restaurants around town.

We visited restaurant week and split the dinner but added an appetizer per their suggestion. It was a bustling Saturday afternoon and we enjoyed the art market going on upstairs which allowed us a peek at their event space which was very impressive and elegant. For dinner, we sat at the bar where we were promptly greeted and served up delicious drinks. I don't remember the name of mine only that it had cranberry in it and you could choose different liquors to complete it. I went with the jalapeño tequila and it was the perfect spicy and sweet tart combination. For our appetizer, we got the Cajun sweet potato fries and oh my goodness they are definitely in my top three sweet potato fries I've ever had perfectly crisp with a nice amount of Cajun seasoning to give it an extra kick. Our dinner was a tremendous success. They went with a New Orleans flair or hush puppies to start were amazing as was are entrée the étouffée I barely had a room for our lemon crème brûlée for dessert. Overall, it was a fantastic visit and we will definitely be back.

Pecan & Peach Old Fashioned - THE BEST!

I can't believe it's taken me this long to rate this amazing place! One Bourbon is my favorite place to get a drink in all of GR. The space is so warm and cozy, it's hard to leave once you've visited. The staff and owner are some of the kindest and most welcoming in all of West MI. I have never felt more at home and taken care of anywhere else when I've gone to get a drink or dinner. I usually come for my favorite cocktail ever, the Pecan & Peach Old Fashioned (pictured), but I also come for the amazing food. My personal favorites are the Southern Chicken Sandwich & Tennessee Chicken! Absolutely phenomenal. I can't stress enough how much you need to come by if you haven't already. It's so imperative to support local, especially when it's THIS good! Love y'all, One Bourbon fam. Can't wait to be back soon!

the butternut squash soup was one of the best I've ever had. Chicken sandwich excellent. The grill cheese was very generous in portion and cheese. I think I don't like the combo of the cheeses that's not on them, I added some of the Nashville hot sauce to give it some extra flavor. It wasn't too loud, no blaring music or echoing sounds. We like places where we can talk. Service was great. You should be able to find something you like when you visit.

Old Forester Single Barrel Rye

Stopped in to grab dessert with the husband. He had the Old Forester Single Barrel Rye (it smelled delicious!), and I got the Bourbon Bread Pudding with ice cream. We sat at the bar and had great conversation about Bourbon with Mitch! Great, chill place to come to if you like Bourbon - we were told that the owner goes to a distillery every few months with some staff to try Bourbon and pick a barrel that they bring home and age with other things!

Atmosphere is always bumping--there's live music and other themed nights and it was jam packed on a Tuesday night. Vibes and beers are unmatched in my opinion. Big fan of the Golden Ticket and the Wilde Irish Red Ale or again, whatever is on cask. As far as the food goes, it's definitely... brown plates all around. Fryz'licious was slightly overpowering with the amount of beer cheese slopped on there, but a good bite with some hot sauce. Big fan of the beer cheese. Those Nantucket Backing pretzels are 10/10. Fish and chips weren't great. Not a lot of fish--two pieces with more batter than cod. Sort of disappointed with that. St. Patrick's Day specialty menu replaced their chicken pot pie with a sheperd's pie and a Bailey's cheesecake. Sheperd's pie was a good bite, exactly what I'd imagine lamb, mashed potatoes, and peas/carrots would taste like. Cheesecake was heavy handed on the booze, but a good palette cleanser after all the fried food.

The locals seems to all know each other -- lots of shouting across the bar and asking what everyone was doing next week or for the current holiday. Really nice vibes. The bartender was attentive too. Really sweet. Honestly, I liked it a lot -- it's a lil' shabby but also two dollar drinks that were hella strong. So come on, be real. In fact, my kids laughed at my wife when she got a salad and wasn't overly impressed "Mom, why would you get a salad at a place with great burgers?!?" My thoughts exactly. The service is decent, the space is comfortable for a downtown spot on Monroe Center. When I visit, I focus solely on the burgers and I've never been disappointed. The 'Meat Wagon', topped with ribeye, ham and bacon just wants to cuddle your belly from the inside. The 'Otto Von Burger' topped with a fried egg and bacon is one of the best examples of its kind. The 'Alabamer' is great when you're craving pulled pork and bacon on your burger. If you just want a traditional burger, you have that option and won't be disappointed. We arrived right at 5 pm on a Friday and the place was almost full already! We were surprised but happy for them, and glad to get a nice cozy two-top in a back corner. We were greeted by our awesome server and ordered some food -- two different mortadella sandwiches and an order of fried pickles to start. Neither of us ordered drinks, but I saw some fun-looking cocktails coming over to nearby tables. The fried pickles came out first and they were perfection. I don't usually get this appetizer because I don't like fried pickle spears, but these were thin chips. The ratio of the fried pickle chip vs. spear is way better. And these came with the best runny ranch. It was a huge portion to split between the two of us, so we had lots left over. Our sandwiches came out shortly after and looked amazing. They were super stacked with tons of meat! I really liked the addition of the grainy mustard which helped cut through the fattiness of the meat. Our server seldom came to our table, we had to flag her down to order more drinks and even then she forgot and we had to remind her we placed another drink order. The restaurant was not very busy and we could see her chatting with a table that seemed like employees or family members of employees as people were coming in and out of the kitchen to sit at the table. We had a table of four (two couples) and the server would not split our bill which was fine but a bit inconveniencing.
