All people working here were also super amiable, making it felt like you're just a regular visitor despite it's our first being there. We arrived just slightly before 1pm, which was actually the closing time for their cafe but fortunately we made it just in time to try their coffees. I initially wanna go for their Hojicha Matcha but they're unfortunately out. I then ended up with my second option, the Activated Charcoal latte. The default came unsweetened with whole milk. There were alternative milk with extra $1 charge. The coffee was great and would even be better if it could be tad less milky IMHO. The Okasan was the highlight, which did surprise me as I typically didn't like any drink with zesty twist while this one had Kumquat. I guessed their innovative idea mixing it with chocolate did turn out stellar, delivering the right balance between sweet and refreshing taste, while still let the coffee taste getting the spotlight!

They had a surprisingly lot of options, considering they're doing it all from a window in the restaurant! My friend had the Okasan drink with espresso, coconut milk, chocolate syrup and an orange twist ~ it was very orangey but had a unique taste to it. I had the Activated Charcoal Matcha which I loveeeedddd! I was shocked at the pop of flavor hitting my tastebuds and just melted into it. I I hardly ever crave drinks and this is definitely making my brain go into addiction mode. The Activated Charcoal Matcha is a MUST get! Both House Special drinks were $7.50. They have oat, almond and coconut milk supplements OR you can go fancy and add Kotaji Rice Fermented Oak Milk for an extra dolla ~ so cool! It's one of those spots that's worth the occasional splurge because the quality is just that good. The Spanish Latte is easily one of my favorites and a must-try if you're visiting for the first time. But if you know about the secret menu... sheeeesh. I'll have to gatekeep that one. Let's just say it's hands-down the best latte I've ever had. Perfect balance, amazing flavor notes, and one of those drinks that makes you stop and appreciate how good coffee can actually be. The crowds that I have seen there usually are locals walking their dogs or just having finished a workout etc. I always just get black coffee on my hunt for undiscovered beans and the coffee was pretty good. Love Coffee Bar is a small charming locally owned coffee shop in Ocean Park, Santa Monica. They primarily serve Counter Culture as their coffee roaster. And on their menu they have modest selection of coffee, tea and specialty drinks. Similarly, they have mugs, tote bags and merch for sale. This coffee shop has spacious interior layout and minimalist artful design. And have dog-friendly policy which was definitely a plus. In addition, they have free wifi and abundant of natural light which makes this shop a good spot to hangout. They have rear outdoor patio for customers that crave fresh air and sun. I perused their menu and ordered a hot Flat White and Iced Coffee. Both drinks were splendid! Smooth and rich in coffee bean aroma. Staff were affable and highly competent. Prices were slightly higher to similar drinks. Street parking only. Collectively, this is a good coffee shop. Overall, I highly recommend LCB if you're in the area.

Inside is very well decorated with all different kinds of seating, perfect for catching up with friends or working! Service was so quick and so kind. They'll greet me, take my order, I'll be friendly and tip regardless, but it's like a switch flips the second we're halfway through the transaction. They suddenly treat you like you don't exist. They call out my drink, i grab it and say thank you right to their face, and they ignore me. It's a huge pet peeve of mine. It's rude to just ignore someone thanking you when there's nothing else going on.. like you don't have to say "you're welcome," but at least acknowledge with a look or smile? Then the second it's just the baristas back there, they're chit chatting and laughing and smiling it up like normal people do. Not a fan of this type of service and after this visit, I've officially decided I won't be returning. The espresso I had wasn't very good, so I resorted to getting a tea. The tea is good, hard to go wrong there. Overall, the espresso isn't good enough to comeback for, and the service is keeping me away. I've experienced this is many other coffee shops as well, so maybe it's an LA thing. Idk if I get treated this way because I'm a woman, or maybe because I'm a person of color, or what. It doesn't make sense to me since I'm a rather warm person. Service is more important to me than the actual product offered. It was so unexpected and unapologetically different that I felt like I'd stepped back into the 80s, when people actually engaged in analog life. Handwritten notes, journaling, people-watching, real conversations... and just being present. I kept it simple and ordered the coffee of the day from Ecuador, and it completely delivered. I've never described coffee this way before, but it was smooth, balanced, and completely unoffensive in the best possible sense- no bitterness, no harsh acidity, just easy and enjoyable from start to finish. The vibe leans almost speakeasy. Intentionally undigital, very human, with music spinning from a record player in the corner. It's the kind of place that quietly forces you to slow down without telling you to. Safe to say, I'll be back. I can easily see this becoming a regular spot for me.
