We recently stopped into our old stomping grounds for dinner because it had been some years since we had been to the original. Our experience was fantastic! The mafia queso was to die for (I love the garlic bread with it), our salads were fresh and fast out, the tortellini and spaghetti with meatballs and sausage hit the spot! All hot and fresh and timely just like we like. Our servers name was Mercedes and she was great and gave us fast and friendly service. We sat in the area behind the bar ,which we never had seen before. That was cool! Everything looked extremely clean and bright. Party of 13 and 7 out of that said the food was not good. For me I had penne with meat sauce the added some parmesan cheese. After taking a piece of pasta and sauce I said HELL NO!!! Tasted like tomato sauce with no taste of herbs. The waitress was nice she did ask me if I wanted anything else I said no, I didn't want to sent something else back. When I got the bill I said I was not paying for my meal I would pay for the salad that I ate. She then told me that I ate it and that I had put cheese on it HELLO WAS SHE GOING TO RESELL IT!!! She came back with my meal taken of that that's not all she slammed the check down on the table and walked away REALLY!!! I can't believe I didn't review this place the last time I was here!!! OMG...the best queso ever! Mafia queso is amazing!!! I haven't been in Lubbock for a few years and when I landed at the airport, this was the place I wanted to come. I started craving queso the minute I landed! I don't remember what I had the last time I was here, but I remember the queso...at the Italian restaurant! We ordered it again and it was just as amazing as the last time I had it! Also ordered the shrimp scampi and it was delicious with the garlic bread! And I was so hungry, I didn't take a picture of the scampi...but trust me...it was AWESOME! When you are served to your table it is clean and so are the seats, no expected crumbs on the table or your seat. The food comes in a perfect time not too long at all, the food is perfect and is not too rich that you'll get full after a few bites and not too dull either. Let me start by saying this is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. We lived in Lubbock for 8 years and we had countless meals here, and I don't recall ever being disappointed. So naturally when we found ourselves back in Lubbock for a weekend recently, Orlando's was a must! We arrived at the one on Ave Q at around 7 on a Friday evening with 7 people and were able to be seated right away. The food was just as good as I remembered and of course I got cheesecake to go. This place is on Ave Q. it's a small building with limited parking. But totally worth trying to maneuver your way in! We came here at about 11, just before the lunch rush. We got seated immediately by the host, who was very polite. Our server was awesome! I got beef ravioli, it comes with a soup or salad, I chose the soup and asked her to surprise me with whatever she thought was good. She brought out their green hatch chili soup, it tasted like their mafia queso, which we already had an order of! But I wasn't complaining! It was all delicious. Came here while visiting my grandmother in hospice, had a break while she napped and doctors/ nurses came by mid afternoon and it was definitely the break I needed!! Had the lasagna and salad, the salad was super fresh and lasagna was hearty and so tasty. I sat at the bar with a young skinny guy and he was super attentive while giving me some place too, the place was clean and the bathrooms were super clean with good music playing the whole time. You guys are pretty rough with the bad reviews here but sitting here for about 45 minutes I can pretty much tell there are some loose ends. Right in front of me a customer came and asked if her server was coming back because he never did come back and at about the same time another customer came up and asked if he could have his check because of a lengthy wait, really not a good thing if you are on the sidelines and on the fence about this establishment but I apparently came on a good night with the right server. As you walk in you are greeted with a comforting interior oh, nothing tacky I'm pretty much well thought of. Another thing I noticed was the clientele here seem to be in their 30s to 40s range which is a good thing since you don't have to worry about the younger generation wanted to take over was boisterous languages and drinking binges to look cool. The price kind of teeters on the medium to little bit on the high side but I am kind of grateful for that since that kind of keeps the lesser count for a more inviting atmosphere of calm clientele that wants to remain here in decent conversation without worrying about loud music and loud people. Only one thing minor about sitting in the booths here is be prepared to play butt wars with the person behind you. Just be prepared to have your cushion pushed back and forth as if you were trying to jockey for sitting space. It's no fun but that's Booth life. The food, the salad came to the table and noticed very minimal brown edges around any of the Leafs. It wasn't perfect but it was not bad. The Canbelloni presented a decent sauce with the right amount of spices in it, nothing disappointing there. When the 10-inch pepperoni pizza came to the table, I was aghast to the resemblance of a DiGiorno pizza which is my favorite frozen pizza. After a few bites into the pizza, I realized it was nothing of that since the quality of whatever cheese they use oh, you could be able to tell the difference that it is a little bit higher in mozzarella. The pepperoni that was on it, they do not skimp here, they must have been about three layers of pepperonis. The crust was thin yet very crispy and no burnt bottoms. Apart from seeing other patrons looking for their servers for checked and not coming back, the experience that we had with Ricky who was our server was nothing short of attentiveness and affirmative that we would have decent service in which he did not disappoint. It's pretty bad the bad reviews on what they say but gladly enough I did not experience this here therefore definitely will be back will most likely I'm going to visit the other location, see y'all over there. read more

I stopped going to Orlando's a couple of years ago because I was tired of burned, dry pizza. I had a few guests in town who wanted to go to Orlando's, so I decided to give it another try. We were all disappointed by the burned pizza (yep, still burning it), the sticky, hard, tasteless spaghetti, and the equally tasteless and terrible spinach tortellini. I don't know how you can mess up spaghetti and tortellini, but both dishes were sticky and hard. The pepperoni bread and the salad that came with one of the dishes were the only highlights. And the staff is really nice. I just wish the food was better. It certainly does not look like the food on their advertisements. My opinion is to save yourself a bunch of money and get a Stouffer's frozen lasagna instead. Much better and cheaper. read more

Tex mex meets Italian. That is the style of the food for this place. The ambience is that of a quaint Italian place. We ordered the mafia queso which was very tasty. It wasn't overly spicey, but still had a nice kick to it. I ordered the meatball sandwich. It tasted good. Be warned though, it is huge and I had to eat it with my fork. The hubby ordered the small side dish of Chicken Alfredo. He said it was a perfect portion size after having the queso. The sauce was the right texture and the chicken was cut into small bites. This is not Italian food. It is not even good fake Italian food. Seriously, you get better Italian food at a church potluck. The garlic bread is like the frozen SureFine brand. Italian sausage is tasteless for the most part except for a hint of salt. The stuffed manicotti came to the table 10 minutes after everyone else's food. It was honestly TV dinner grate. The ricotta was tasteless, sauce was weird and just salty. The two other pasta dishes were basic and bland. She checked back frequently and was attentive! Food - 3 Stars Pesto Bruschetta Appetizer was - Ok, but could have been more flavorful, if my eyes were closed, I wouldn't have know there was Pesto on it. Entree - we had the Spicy Green Chile Chicken Linguine- Again, I'd never know there was green Chile 's, but I saw 2 slices. The chicken was about 6 small pieces. I'd say a bit disappointing. Heavy on the olive oil. Atmosphere: 5 Stars. It's quaint , quiet, we had a nice cozy booth. We'd eat here again ! Management might consider a 20.00 bonus for wait staff mentioned by name in reviews.
