Continue reading if you'd like to know about my experience. Well, one day of my nightmares came true... it was a blazing hot summer day and my AC was no longer blowing cool air. A few days went by having a few contractors come by and give an estimate to replace my unit (I had a leak and my refrigerant phased out). Some companies were able to install the next day but it was so expensive! Or some contractors were cheaper but I had to wait 3-5 days for installation... Soooo being the Goldilocks of this HVAC issue, I went on google and yelp again and found One Hour Heating and Air. I quickly and easily booked an appointment for an estimate. They were able to accommodate me the next morning. They were fantastic! They communicated that JT would be arriving at 9am. JT showed up early! He was very professional and put on those shoe booties, so the floors don't get dirty. (Being an Asian household, we thank you!) JT was knowledgeable of the products and my neighborhood community. This was very comforting. Also, he was really willing to work with us and wasn't pushy at all! A few hours later, we decided to go with One Hour Heating and Air. They were able to schedule the installation for the next day! The day of installation, I received a text that my technician was on his way and sent a picture of what he looked like. (That was amazing! I would like to know who I am letting into my home.) Anyways, Daniel was the main technician, and he was also very professional! I would say all went smoothly! Great service, communication. My previous HVAC maintenance company had just done their seasonal tune-up, made several recommendations and performed a few costly, recommended services. After their visit, we had a problem with the AC for which we utilized our home warranty - enter One Hour as the warranty provided contractor. It was at this time I learned that my previous contractor had not preformed some of the expensive services for which we paid, and the services that they did perform were done poorly. I had a CO Alarm go off in my house and the Fire Department traced it to my HVAC system (original one installed from home builder). We shut off the unit, toward the end of the work day on a very cold day in January, and started to immediately place calls to see which firm could come out and repair the unit (I was not worried about being cold that night but have two young children). One Hour Heating came out that evening around 7pm, identified and fixed the issue sometime around 9pm. Clearly above and beyond what I expected. They informed me of the cause and notified me the problem would eventually come back so of course we ended up replacing the 10 year old unit in the coming weeks. When One Hour was reviewing with me the options, they actually encouraged me to go with a less expensive unit for specific reasons...was surprised (happily) they did not simply push the most expensive unit out there. Strange noises coming from our HVAC system made me turn off the power. One Hour came out the next day and did a thorough check and I've had no further problems. What's even better, though, is the technician offered to do the spring check-up while he was hear. From the appointment specialist to the representative coming to evaluate the cost of an entire system to the trchnitians assigned to compleye the job. The technitians were excellent too. Don't waist your time and money. . Instead of repairing the broken AC unit the technician started to take pictures of the AC system inside the house. I asked him to fix the outdoor unit. Don't need to waste time. I know that my AC isn't new. I also told to Jaime (technician) that the AC CONTACTOR is broken and needs to be replaced. He didn't pay attention and continued to take pictures. Looks like the idea of this visit was to tell me that I need to buy a new AC system from "One Hour HVAC" company. Eventually the $15 contractor was replaced and the unit started to work. This company requested more than $400 for this job. The technician explained it that he has an incredible knowledge and must earn as a doctor or a pilot. WHAT? I wish I knew it before my call to this company. Again, don't waist your time and money. Find another company that is truly customer-centric and loves what they do. read more

My AC decided to stop working this previous Friday afternoon, and the house got to an unbearable temp. I tried a few HVAC companies and the soonest appointment I could find was not until a week later, then I found One Hour Heating & AC, submitted an appt request Saturday around 2am and they called me later that day and scheduled an appt for Sunday morning. The tech (Scott R.) arrived exactly at the start of the scheduled window. Scott was simply amazing. He not only did a thorough inspection of my HVAC system, he also walked me through part by part explaining how it works, how the issues effect my house, and provided recommended steps forward and why they would be beneficial (without being pushy or trying to upcharge me). Not only did I receive great service, but I also learned a lot about HVAC and my house, which is super helpful as a first time home owner. 5 stars for the company, but 10 stars for Scott R. read more

I have been a modern mechanical customer since 2012 which is why I gave 2 stars and not 1. When the service was Modern Mechanical the service was great, but since the change the service is hit or miss. The last service I had has stuck in mind since April/May. The technician was rude and seemed angry. Even my girlfriend noticed his poor demeanor. He rang my doorbell and instantly within 10 seconds started banging on the door. I know the air handler is old and it may have issues, but I am willing to forgo a replacement until necessary. Being the owner of the property that is my right. The tech was reading down the list of recommendations and I told him I understood, but tried to scare me into some of the services. I then asked about the condensate drain. When I made my appointment, I mentioned this and assumed the tech would have the Gallo Drain Gun tool. He said he did not have one, but if he did it wouldn't fit anyways. That's odd since in my community it is mandatory to have the drain cleared yearly and every technician that has performed the service has done so since 2012. The tech was just irritated throughout the whole inspection. When he went outside to inspect the outside unit he had multiple tools and a bag to carry, so I offered to carry something and he seem offended by this. I heard him say under his breath I can carry my own tools... Once he was done inspecting the outside unit, he mentioned the charge was low. I told him I have a home warranty and I'll need to go through them for the recharge. Again, he wasn't happy and aggressive said something along the lines well if it's not cooling in the summer don't call because I wouldn't want another tech from One Hour to waste their time when he could do it now... I should have asked him to leave earlier, but I needed the service done to be compliant with my community bylaws. I cannot stress enough how almost afraid I was to keep this technician in my home since his irritation seemed to get worse as the appointment went on. My girlfriend and infant daughter were in the home so there was heightened anxiety. I don't know this guy personally and so I am technically letting a stranger in my home to perform a service and who knows what is setting him off but it could end up a lot worse. After this I won't be renewing my service contract with this company. read more

5.0 star rating 2/7/2017 Updated review I needed to update this to reflect the wonderful front office person that I speak with on the phone, Caitlin (she is a delight) who when she discovered what had happened with our install and lack of support received from our initial conversation went to work at resolving what had happened. Our ceiling is fixed. Humidifier is running like a champ, and hopefully we will never have a need for the sump pump. We truly adore George our regular HVAC tech. He is knowledgable and takes the time to educate us on our system so we know what is working, what is aging, and how long something has left. You never have to worry about WHO is coming into your house. Since Modern Mechanical is backed by One Hour each tech is drug tested & background checked. In this day and age knowing that HVAC and plumbing is the top trade taught in prisons I am glad to know who is coming into my house and that Modern Mechanical is helping to ensure I do not have to worry who is coming through my door. After a horrible experience with the first company my home warranty company sent out, I learned a valuable lesson and began reading Yelp reviews prior to agreeing to whomever the HW was referring. One Hour was the second on the list of replacement companies (the first being another 1-star review). I scanned the reviews and couldn't believe such service, communication, professionalism, and expertise possible after my experience with the first provider. I can attest to everything other reviewers have said. Their communications team is top notch, leaving you confident and comfortable with the plan going forward. They are superb. The message prior to arrival includes a bio on the technician along with a picture, which is a really nice touch. Covid protocols are followed. The work on our furnace was thoroughly diagnosed, parts ordered and received, and the repair completed within about 4 days, which was great. Our technician was awesome. Very nice guy. Knew his stuff and was willing to teach me a bit about my first gas furnace. Communicated the problems and the remedies clearly and made it happen. Lesson here - check who your home warranty is sending out and ask for someone different if the reviews aren't up to snuff. I will work with this company for my HVAC needs in the future. read more

I signed up for the yearly maintenance check where they come out 2 times a year to make sure that my heatpump is working correctly. I was given an appointment window when they would be there. When the tech was on the way I got a text with a picture of the person that was coming. When he arrived he went to work checking everything out. I got a call from my wife that he reported that the capacitor was bad and needed to be replaced and it usually cost around $300 to replace it. The tech called me to also report it and I told him, that I had one in my garage and I would change it out. The reason I didn't have them replace it is because I felt like that was excessive. Maybe that was the price if they just had to come out for that with a diagnosis, I should of asked the tech myself for the exact price. I felt like the maintenance was worth it and they left me a printout of all the readings that were observed during the visit to have peace of mind. read more

If they truly do then they should be out of business as they weren't on time and refused to provide the service after they were late. The work was through our warranty company and was originally scheduled for Thursday, 6/16/2016 in the 10am-noon time window. They rescheduled for the 2-4pm time window on Friday, 6/17/2016. At 3:30pm they called and said there was a delay and the technician would be coming but no time. At 7:15pm the technician called and said he was on site however he was leaving as the building security told him they would call the police if he drove in without permission. Security was checking their list and hand trouble finding the name since he was five hours late. Once his name was located he was allowed in. However, he called and said he wasn't going to provide service because "security threatened to call the police" which they only threatened to do because he was going to drive on premise without permission. When my daughter got upset with him for not coming in to perform the service call he hung up on her. Yes, she was upset because she'd waited five days and been put off a full day and the guy was five hours late. My sense is it was 7pm and he didn't want to work since it was quitting time and the work is warranty work. The owner subsequently refused us service as well.
