I wanted to give a shoutout to One House Bakery for Yelps #ThankYouThursday I think since the start of Covid till now, they have been a pillar for the Benician community. I feel like in a difficult time they have went above and beyond to create lots of opportunities for people to get amazing and comforting meals at a great price. Not once have I ever had an issue with this place. On top of that the team that works here always maintained a perfect balance of professionalism and kindness. One House Bakery is the business that any business should strive for. And lastly I think its awesome how involved they are with the community. I really look forward to their lifelike creations they make in the fall each year now. Any bakery that makes a life sized Han Solo out of bread is pretty Goated imo. In Benicia for Tuesday night for our anniversary, bakery lovers that we are, we had heard the buzz about One House Bakery and wanted to check it out. Alas, closed Mondays and Tuesdays! So on our way home the next day, we stopped by. This is like no other bakery in the area. On entering it has a converted warehouse vibe, all brick and pipes. And busy: bakery staff are baking as you watch; they didn't finish at 5 AM like many bakeries and when it's gone it's gone. There is just an energy here - customers are seated everywhere enjoying the wares: along one side on the main level, an upper level overlooking the bakery, and two levels of patio garden. We stopped by a little after 11 and there was still a lot to choose from. We had butter and almond croissants, a sticky toffee pudding, and a seasonal fruit danish. All were fabulous! We didn't have much time, alas, but still sat in the patio garden while we sampled our selections. The patio was set amongst native trees and natural vegetation for a charming effect. It looked like numerous locals were here for a regular treat, and we were rather jealous! This is a reason to visit Benicia all by itself! read more

One of our favorite spots! So good, it's one that you want to gatekeep. I love the blueberry scone and chocolate tart (you really can't go wrong with any of the baked goods). My husband and the kiddos are OBSESSED with their chicken pot pie. It is delicious and is super popular. The place itself looks small, but right outside is the cutest 2 floor patio. There's also seating inside both downstairs and upstairs, and by the front entrance. They keep their bathrooms clean too which is great. It's pretty pricey and gets very busy especially on the weekends, but I feel like they have a solid system in place which helps with wait times. Nothing but great experiences. We've came here 3-4 times and we got their vegetarian Thanksgiving meal. The packaging was so gorgeous. (See photos) and the food was delish. I'd heard so much about this place from friends nearby, and I'm so glad I finally stopped in. The vibe is awesome, the menu has great variety, and the seating is super cozy. Everything I tasted was spot-on--especially that bacon-cheddar-chive scone . My only snag was the service: the staff seemed distant, my drink order wasn't right, and even after asking for the scone to be warmed, it still came out cold. Because of that, I'm dropping one star. The food here is simply the best. My favorites are the braised beef over polenta and the chicken pot pies from the savory side. The baked goods are all tasty but the almond croissants and the lemon meringue tarts usually call my name. The people are usually friendly and upbeat and the ambiance is nice-esp on the back patio. So good. This stop was generated yesterday by an on the fly Yelp search. A few filters a this popped up just 6 minutes away. So many delicious baked goods. I landed on the delicious chocolate almond croissant. Washed it down with an iced Vietnamese coffee. The pot pie was a hit at the table. The tables adjacent to us ordered four of them. It's an order at the counter setup. When the food is read your buzzer goes off. Prices were fair. Especially taking into consideration that it's all freshly made. Love love loved One House Bakery for lunch! Yes, they always have a line. Yes, it moves decently fast. Yes, everything is FRESH and delicious. This is an order at counter and seat yourself type of establishment. There is a section for coffees then followed by pasties and breads then the register. You basically order along as you go and tell the cashier any entree and drink you would like as well. Once your order is placed they give you a pager to return to pick up counter. Amble seating outside, few tables inside along the wall or also a few tables inside on the upper mezzanine. The outside seating while mostly covered is not heated but there are blankets thrown across one seat at almost every table if needed. Not sure on the cleanliness however, so use at your own discretion. Today had a BLT and the spicy roasted chicken sandwich. WOW! The spicy roasted chicken sandwich could be spicier as honestly it had zero spice to it at all. But very very flavorful. The aoili, the arugula the giardiniera.....all outstanding. Bread was soft and fresh and held up to the sauce and oil of this sandwich. The BLT has amazing bacon...you can't go wrong with a classic. They also offer alcoholic drinks like mimosas in addition to their coffees etc. Wonderful place to grab food and cannot wait to go back. The raspberry Danish is calling my name soon! read more

It'll keep me up today. This place saved me today. My go-to coffee shop closed early. I knew about One House, but I haven't explored the inside. I didn't know they have lots of seating in the back and upstairs. I had the best seat in my opinion. I watched the bakers cut cake, make custard shells, egg tarts add icing. There is a good selection of baked goods, coffee and tea, and lunch items and some liquor. I recommend this coffee shop. It's spacious, welcoming, have lots of dessert and drink options. We're late in the day kind of people and by the time we get here most of what we'd want is out - we always leave empty handed and end up somewhere else. It's certainly nice and roomy but I feel we get the cold shoulder from the staff working and I can't recall ever getting a smile or a greeting or 'can I help you?". It's an adorable place in downtown Benicia. Great area for walking around by the water and grabbing some snacks. Some locals suggested one house, bakery, and told me to order online instead of waiting in line. I took their recommendation and suggestion, easy to order online. When I went to pick up my almond milk latte, you go to the pick up window, and that is when they will process your order. They will not process it before hand that way it's not waiting around too long. They have a lovely outdoor bench area to sit down Don't be surprised if there's a long line, it's very popular. I've been wanting to come to the bakery for two years now. It's always so crowded. Their closed on Monday and Tuesday. Same as my days off. I hear great things about the treats. Today I had some extra time. I thought what a great day to try them out. I was really disappointed in the customer service. Very unpleasant. I interacted with three young ladies. Not one of them were friendly, ever smiled. Was not welcoming at all. I actually felt like I was annoying them with my presence. I felt like I was rushed. I understand it was crowded and the line did move fast. But I guess at the expense of the lack of great customer service. I would of even settled for decent customer service. It didn't have to be great. On the other hand the pastry that I got was indeed delicious. I also got a little gift box of house made chocolates to gift a friend. Wow, wow, wow. When seeking out good restaurants in Benicia, sad this never popped up as an option. So grateful a local shop person recommended it to us. So glad they were open the day we decided to visit. Be sure and check their website for hours, so you don't miss it. Yummy dessert type pastries beautifully displayed and very enticing. Appreciated the varied sandwich & salad menu. Beautiful space and the outside seating is wonderful with 3 levels of deck, stunning plants everywhere and it's so quiet. Just pulled up their website to find the sandwich and salad we ordered, but their menu does not appear, sad. I will say my "some kind of Chicken sandwich" and my friends Falafel salad were wonderful. Wish the sandwich had come w/a side of salad or chips, but it was quite plentiful. When I'm in the area again (I live in San Francisco), I will be back. If you are in the area, I can't speak highly enough about this FAB eating establishment. Service is super fast as well and you can watch the bakers hard at work. I've been here twice, once using the outside window while having my doggy and one going inside with a friend. Both times I've gotten the baker's breve and I loved it! Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The second time I went I got pastries and asked if certain things had cinnamon and they went above and beyond for me. I ordered the Cuban meat pie and strawberry cream cheese scone whole my friend ordered the strawberry tartlet which all were very tasty. The patio and deck are GORGEOUS. I wondered if what I'd heard about One House Bakery would be true when I visited, and my expectations were exceeded! It was so fun, and worth the bridge toll, to go to One House Bakery, especially as my date and I were able to find two counter seats in the upstairs room that provided a bird's eye view of the entire kitchen. We stayed there watching cinnamon rolls being rolled, pie crusts being pinched, veggies being washed, and all kinds of other cool things while enjoying the energy and food. I personally felt that the pastries at One House were amazing, but the other food was just okay. The chocolate almond croissant is a pastry that I actually dream about! We had chicken pot pie, the ham and cheese croissant, and pesto arugula salad and I was less impressed by the portion size, craftsmanship, and flavor of those items. Parking can be tight so street parking is the way to go, and while there may be a line it moves quickly. One House Bakery.... First time there, it's open and airy with multiple seating options if you want to eat in. I chose to take my goodies togo. I grabbed a couple of their award winning croissants, two bacon cheddar chive scones, and one Cuban meat pie as well as a focaccia salami sandwich (on ciabatta bread as they were out of focaccia) The sandwich was full of meat and other goodies and all the pastries look amazing, but I'll be having them later. One warning, it is not inexpensive so if you are on a budget, probably not your best option. You place your pastry order at the first party case, then continue to the register to get drinks and meals, they provide buzzers to alert you your order is ready. If you are eating in, you have 4 areas to choose from. Two inside ground floor or above and outdoor areas at the front and back of the restaurant. I'm going to be thinking about the porchetta sandwich probably forever. Service was great, the line got long but was handled quickly, and the bakery was clean and well organized. The romesco sandwich is really good and keeps really well for long car rides. But THE PORCHETTA. It's juicy, it's crispy, it's flavorful, the apple fennel slaw is the perfect complement and the bread is pillowy and delightful. I'm already looking for a reason to go back. We first heard of this bakery/restaurant on Check Please Bay Area and we decided to stop here on a day trip near Sacramento. We were not disappointed. We've now come here twice. The first time we had coffee, an almond croissant and a blueberry scone (and one other pastry we can quite remember). The second time we had a vegetable pot pie, chicken pot pie, a chicken pesto sandwich and another blueberry scone. The atmosphere here is busy but friendly. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. Both times we came here there were open tables on the upstairs balcony. There is also seating outside in the front as well as in the back although we've never sat in those locations. Both pastries we've had here have been delicious. The blueberry scone in particular is great even though it's very different than a normal scone. It's almost like a cinnamon roll but with blueberry filling instead and very moist and flavorful. The pot pies were also delicious with a terrific crust. All in all, a solid choice if you are in the area or even just passing by. Worth the stop off the freeway as the surrounding area is cute also. read more

Love myself a baked good and a drink in the morning! You can tell that One House Bakery is a local favorite. I got a hot lavender oat latte with milk as a substitute and an almond croissant. My boyfriend got a Vietnamese coffee and a ham and cheese croissant and a bacon cheddar chive scone. The lavender latte was subtle in both the lavender and espresso, but it was still enjoyable! The almond croissant was a little different than I was used to. It was more on the dense side and not as fluffy and airy, but it was still enjoyable. It was flaky and had great amount of almonds. The Vietnamese coffee was quite disappointing because it was just condensed milk and coffee on top. The condensed milk took a spoon to mix in. I think it is a little misleading and just because there's condensed milk doesn't make it a Vietnamese coffee. It just tasted like an iced coffee. It was a very small cup too. In regards to the ham and cheese croissant, there are no complaints. I think the bacon cheddar chive scone was very tasty! I've never had a savory scone before and I was very pleased. I think it really depends on what you order as there was some hits and misses. Overall, I would still come back and recommend. I ordered about 4 dozens of the chocolate chip cookies for a my brother's babyshower as party favors and they were a hit! It was crispy on the outside and chewy inside! My friends know me as the dessert queen, so it's much appreciated when they bear desserts from places I've never been to. One of my really good friends from Vallejo stopped by One House Bakery and picked up a few items for me including (2) pastels de nata, (2) cinnamon pastels de nata, a passion fruit raspberry tart, and a some type of pastry that looked like a Nutella stuffed cronut. Though I haven't been to the brick and mortar, this place has shot up my list of places to go when I'm in the area. I know the desserts are freshly everyday, so I was especially impressed by how well the desserts stood the test of time because I ate most of them the next day. Let's talk pastel de natas. These didn't make it home since I ate them in my car after my friend handed me all the desserts. Yes, all 4 were gone in one sitting, because that were that good! Flaky, buttery crust. And the custard was amazing. The cinnamon ones were particularly outstanding as the cinnamon sugar added that "Je ne sais quoi." I loved the raspberry passion fruit tart. The custard was sweet and bright, but the star of the show was the crust made with coconut flakes. Lastly, I had a bite of the cronut. Not my favorite of the desserts but still very good. read more

One House Bakery looks cute and quaint from the outside. It may appear small but it's actually quite expansive with dining upstairs and on two levels out back. The menu is simple but filled with yummy things including some specials. They make you walk past the pastry display on your way to ordering. The pastries looked so good that it took everything I had not to buy a bunch of pastries and forgo my lunch. Luckily my will power was strong and I made it to the register. Super friendly staff. I ordered the grilled cheese with ham. And a caramel latte since they make the caramel in house. We wound up sitting out back. It's so peaceful back there and a lovely place to enjoy a meal. The food and latte were delicious. Perfectly crafted and made me very content. Also everything was reasonably priced! I definitely felt I got what I paid for. One House Bakery is amazing. Man, this place is popular on the weekend.! I had swung by for some pastries and it was super busy with the line out the door. It was a little after lunch but being a Weekend, it had a fast moving line. The pastries looked really enticing, but I stuck with the Caramel apple pastries. I had also ordered a Spicy Chicken sandwich. It was served on a ciabatta roll and it was so good and not too spicy. The pastries are always fresh and the service is always friendly. The is always a place to sit or you can head up to the balcony or the patio in the back which is also Dog friendly. Came here for a quick breakfast on a Saturday morning. We both got the all day breakfast sandwich (added bacon for an extra $3). The sparkling guava passionfruit juice was ok and so was the Vietnamese coffee. The pastries we chose were the bread pudding 10/10, pull apart cinnamon roll 7/10, and raspberry cheese danish which was basically inedible when reheated because the middle cheese part just melted all away.
