Mediocre at best. I used to live near this spot but never tried it. So today my lunch crew and I all go meals. First off everything arrived covered in wing sauce with holes in the bag. I know you're gonna say it's the drivers fault but if you put it in a container that doesn't close that it's your fault. The wings reminded me of Freddy Kruger's face. Like these were cooked. I even like my wings a little crisp. So it's hard for me to imagine a wing that is too cooked. The salad was weak AF. Lettuce, a tomato and large cubes of fatty chicken. It was literally all the extra toppings left over from the cheesesteaks. Both the blue cheese dressing and the ranch tasted pretty much identical. One was just chunky. It was strange. The actual cheese steaks made me question how they are measuring a lb. Maybe the scale starts at .5. It's not the worst cheesesteak place but I doubt I'll be back.

Actually, pretty good. The bread was nice and soft and steak was only thing I have to say is make sure to add cheese if your GrubHubing it

This 2ft cheesesteak lasted me quite a while! Alright amount of meat, a soft long roll and even though cheese was extra $, they added it anyway which I appreciated! Hamburger roll was also alright, and I enjoyed both.

WHO: party of 3 WHY: hunger WHAT: (Deets) super long Philly cheese steak, provolone cheese onions and peppers. Hold the ketchup! This is a walk-up window business. I am in Philly 1-2 times/ year, and though there are decent spots on South Street, this is my go-to. The meat is flavorful. The toppings are fresh, and ultimately, it's consistently delicious. WHEN: March 31 WHERE: take away HOW: car BATHROOM: n/a WIFI: n/a DRESS CODE: as you like SERVICE: prompt, cordial BOTTOM LINE: treat yourself to THESE fairies. Sooooo worth it! TIP: though it may appear so, it is not likely closed, even very late at night.

The cheesesteak was not horrible but herion has ruined Kensington. 4 different ambulances went by. A group of teenagers harassed a woman panhandling. Another woman was trying to eat a cheesesteak but she just kept rocking and itching herself. I drove down Lehigh Ave to get away from the activity and eat the CS but had to move again because a man was checking cars for an unlocked door.

Green 1 Ft Gr. Pepper Cheese Steak look at the picture with red peppers NOT green unless I am color blind.

Must be just my order this was terrible food. Let me Atari with the unfriendly cashier. The food is mediocre food . No flavor, not 100% sure it's steak. Fries are soggy so I wasted $35.75 here. Looking for a trash can since one isn't located outside the restaurant to dump my food. No I do not recommend this place for food. Positives: drinks were very cold to quench my thirst. And lots of street parking.

I travel through Philadelphia everyday for work. Every time I passed One Pound Cheesesteaks I always wanted to stop, but never did. I happened to be commuting right by one day and stopped. I got there at 11:45am. I then quickly realized that they do not open until 12. I waited until 12 and approached the building. Although they weren't ready, a server came out and took my order. I had a small cheesesteak with American cheese and an order of fries. It took longer than expected, but I realize I was the first order of the day. By the time my food was ready there was a line of customers waiting to order. I estimate it took roughly 20 min. There is no inside seating but there are a few tables outside. I had to order to go, as it was 100 degrees that day. I found the cheesesteak to be average at best. It wasn't overly stuffed with meat as I expected. The fries were good, and the portion was also pretty large. Being from the area; there are plenty of other options that have a tastier cheesesteak. It is also located in a "rough" part of town, so I wouldn't go out of my way to get there.

So, I've been a bit backlogged with my reviews, and its been a while since the visit, but there's only one word to describe One Pound Cheesesteaks when i rolled up on it last week, "Clutch". Originally we tried to go to 3-4 different places all of which wound up closed early, or having shut down their grills and fryers despite being open. Suffice to say we remembered One Pound and their manly hours of operation, 2 AM closing on SUN-THURS, and 4AM on Fridays and Saturdays- that's something we can get down with. Thursday in the late-night we rolled up, buddy grabbed a normal 2-ft steak- that's it. Meanwhile i grabbed a 2-ft steak w/ salt pepper and ketchup, an order of cheese fries, and an order of chicken fingers as well- hadn't eaten all day. Locations nice all things considered, couple of benches nearby, some umbrella's, seats and a counter, tons of photos plastered over the whole thing- its pretty cool.. Foods made fresh to order, gets banged out pretty quick, and its fantastic for the price- i think, i cant even remember how much i payed- all i remember is being A-OKAY with the price. Was a little colder out that day, and the wind was kicking up but the food stayed warm while i went to town on it, steak was fantastic, needed more cheese- but was well seasoned, the ketchup i wound up with was closer to salsa. (No complaints, was FANTASTIC.) Roll was nice and fluffy surprising given the time of day. Fries were nice and crisp the way you'd want them to be before soaking them in wiz, (Not Whiz) which was decent, could have used some salt or seasoning out the fryer before being tossed in for their wiz baptism. Biggest surprise here were the tenders, these aren't any vendor i'm familiar with, so i'm pretty sure they're made in house, some light Italian breading and thin chicken breast, like some homemade-chicken parm- threw me for a loop, really enjoyed it, had some texture issues, but that could be easily fixed by a second wash and breading. Its a nice place to sit down and go ham on some grub, they even accept cards as long as you spend $10 or more, and a charge if you spend less, plus there's an ATM conveniently outside. I'll definitely be back here on the late night again. TL;DR? Thoroughly consistent, dirt cheap, food being served quickly late at night? SIgn me up. Absolutely the star of the show--fresh, soft, and delicious. Unfortunately, that's where the excitement ended for me. The steak itself was surprisingly bland and severely underseasoned, lacking the flavor and punch I was expecting. After just two bites, I was completely done. I came in expecting an iconic food experience and left disappointed. If this is considered one of the best, then Philly cheesesteaks might just not be for me. For my taste buds, this one was a definite bust.

On a recent trip to the Philadelphia area, I visited Angelo's Pizzeria. My fiance is a big fan of…read morethe pizza, and wanted to first try it after hearing Dave Portnoy's rave review from One Bite. Since his first time trying it, we make it a point to stop anytime we are passing through the area. Angelo's is a very popular pizza restaurant located in South Philly, near the corner of South 9th and Fitzwater, and also the Palumbo Playground/Rec Center. For those who are tourists, it is also not far from where Pat's and Geno's are both located. Parking here can be challenging, as it is in the middle of South Philly. Sometimes, I have had to circle around. Other times, I have gotten lucky with a street spot somewhat close by. There is a now closed Rite Aid about a block down, and I have parked in that lot before to go and order/pick up my food. If you have someone with you, it might be easier to drop someone off and circle around until they are done. It will depend on the day and time, but each time I have visited parking has been a little bit of a struggle. The signage, as well as the crowd outside, will let you know exactly where the shop is. It is clearly marked with a black awning. The Pizzeria is a quaint shop, and there is no seating. When you enter, you walk right up to the counter to either order or pick up your food. I visited here on a Saturday in September, when I was in the area for a football game. On this day, I was coming in from Chester. So, I was about 30 minutes away. I thought I would attempt to call ahead, and then hopefully my food would be ready around my arrival. Unfortunately, this did not work out. I am not sure if they just do not answer the phone, or if they will stop answering once they hit a certain threshold of orders. However, I tried calling a plethora of times on my way to the store, but no one ever answered the phone. I understand this and am not necessarily complaining, but I wanted to include this here in case someone else is trying to call in an order and cannot get through. I arrived at the store just before 4:00 PM. I went right in and placed my order with one of the employees. Once you place the order, they take your name and phone number. You will get a text message when the order is done, and they provide an estimated wait time at the counter. This is nice, as you know exactly when to head back and when your order is ready. My order only took about 20 minutes to be prepared. When the order is ready, you come back into the store and get in the line on the right side. They will ask for your name, and you pay at that time. I also visited here last month, on a Sunday evening around 6:00 PM. I had a similar experience with wait time for my pizza on this trip as well - about 20 minutes until it was ready from when we placed the order. After getting the pizza, I decided I wanted to try a Cheesesteak. So, I placed my order for the sandwich and only waited about 15 minutes for it to be ready. We have always enjoyed the food from here. The pizza is hot, fresh, and has just the right amount of crispiness. We have gotten the Pepperoni and Sausage each time, and it does not disappoint. The pizza also reheats well, as we typically eat some and then take the rest home to enjoy over the next few days. The Cheesesteak was amazing. It is definitely better than any of the other tourist-type locations in the area. The bread was toasted well, and the mixture of the meat and cheese just tastes divine. I also added onions to mine, which was a nice variety in terms of texture. I will definitely be ordering this, along with my pizza, on all of my return visits. This place is good quality, and for that reason it is a good value. Our pizza is usually in the $35 range, but as stated it is well-prepared and has a nice amount of toppings. The Cheesesteak was slightly less than $20, which is comparable to other spots in the area. However, the quality on this one is through the roof. So, though it is a little pricey here overall, it is worth it for the product. The staff here are very friendly, quick, and efficient. Though they deal with these large crowds seemingly everyday, they are always pleasant to interact with. My waits for food are always less than they say, and I appreciate their hard work! I would love to see some type of online or phone ordering system for this location, as I know it exists for their other spot about 10 minutes away. As an FYI, they used to be cash-only, but started taking cards sometime in the past few months. This is a must-try spot in South Philly, both for locals and visitors. It is so popular that they are opening another location, as of May 2026. The food is worth the wait, and the sometimes hassle, that comes with ordering here. You can even make some friends while you wait for your order. I highly recommend Angelo's to anyone thinking about giving it a try! I am already looking forward to my next trip here and trying more of their menu.

Being that I'm not from the east coast, and these are known as Philly cheesesteaks, I was super excited to try the food and even more so when I saw that the restaurant was Michelin rated. 100% I would rather have hunger pains than eat another meal here. The meat was bland and mushy. The fried onions were undercarmelized. The peppers were non existent. The sesame bread was tougher than I expected and super heavy on the sesame... which could've been ok, but because of the blandness of the protein... really dominated the taste profile of the hoagie. I feel like west coast people just have different expectations when it comes to what we expect from our food. I am a foodie and we have such a high standard as a baseline and this was not it. Sorry Philly... we got better cheesesteaks out here. You all should come visit.

Well, just for the nostalgia and respect to the originator, I took my wife and unfortunately Pat's was not good at all. Maybe if we were very hungry, stoned or drunk it would justify a visit, but even then I'm not sure it would satisfy. We ordered what they recommended, a cheese steak with onions and wiz. Compared to what we had earlier that day, which was Uncle Gus' at Reading Terminal Market, this sandwich paled in comparison. There's no need to ever come back here.
