Dylan tried valiantly to get it out from the top, but it became clear it was going to require cutting open the ceiling of the bathroom below to cut open the pipe. Dylan gave me a clear estimate and came back to do the job, but then it turned out the snake had gone further down than anyone imagined. Rather than bashing out the wall to keep chasing it, Dylan called in reinforcements and Advanced came through with two more guys. They tried every trick and every tool to save that downstairs bathroom from becoming a mandatory re-tile job. Eventually they succeeded! They saved the day, saved the tile, and did it all with courtesy, friendliness, and a good-spirited teamwork attitude. Through no fault of their own, the scope of the problem and number of plumbers and time required ended up going well beyond the initial estimate, but the additional charge was exceptionally reasonable. I was expecting much worse. It was very clear they really wanted to get the job done well and with the least demolition possible. Their attitude was excellent, their skills and creativity exemplary, and their pricing was more than fair in light of the time and effort required. I can't recommend them highly enough!

I was on a tight timeline to get this fixed, and another plumber had already tried, failed, and charged me $900 dollars for the privilege. (Safe to say: do NOT call Magic Plumbing.) Alex came out the very next day, diagnosed the issue quickly, and explained that the toilet and the pipes leading into the wall all needed to be replaced. He handled everything professionally and knew exactly what to do to shut-off water pipes for our old building. A lot of plumbers do not know how to navigate that, and our building is ultra picky.. We subsequently had our line hydro-jetted by another company who provided a quote to repair a partially collapsed section of the line. The quote was high enough to warrant two other quotes, one of which was Advanced Trenchless (AT). I decided to choose AT for several reasons: first, they provided the Goldilocks quote that was not too high but not questionably low like the third quote; second, they narrowed the scope to just the collapsed part, not the whole section of crawl space behind it as the first one quoted; and lastly, I got a call from Ryan, one of the owners, who explained the unknowns and also confirmed that a permit was required, which the last quote omitted. Also, he was willing to accommodate my schedule after the holidays. As others here have noted, AT's team are true professionals. They showed up first thing in the morning, were prepared, polite and zeroed in on the exact location that needed to be addressed. I hovered some to try to understand the mysteries of outdoor plumbing, learning that work done on a past remodel was not done properly. The fix was quicker than I was expecting. Everything went smoothly, including the Central San inspection, before they closed up the space around the new pipe and cleanout, leaving everything tidy, even putting back a section of shrub that needed to be moved. The short review is this: Martin is a wizard! He sucked a 2 lb. Piece of metal out of my main line…read morewith a shop vac, saving me thousands of dollars in repair costs! The details: I called Martin after a clog removal by another company went sideways (probably the topic of a no star review in the future). The first company identified where the problem was, but also caused a spill of sewage inside the house, then quoted me $5k to dig up the pipe and really fix the problem. To no one's surprise, I wasn't happy. So I called AHJ for a second opinion, and Martin answered the call. He spent a good 20 minutes on the phone, asking me detailed questions about the problem, and explaining my options (the other company did none of that). He made no guarantees, but said he thought he could solve the problem, so I asked him to have a look. He was at my house within 3 hours. The line had two objects stuck inside, causing backups. Martin worked to jet out one of the objects out, then used a camera to inspect the entire 80 ft. length of the pipe. The second object was still there, though, and it looked like digging was the only option. However, this is where the real magic happened! The second object was about 12 ft from the clean out, and it was not budging. Martin, however, thinks outside the box. He got out a large shop vac and stuffed the hose down the line. With the help of his camera he aligned the end of the hose with the obstruction and started up the vacuum. It took a while and was not easy work, but Martin eventually pulled out a 8" long, 2 lb. solid steel spring! That's no exaggeration (How that got in there I'll never know). It was Amazing! He also documented everything with his camera and thoroughly explained everything that we could see. So, I now know all about the good, and the bad, of my main sewer line, should any future problem arise. Thank you, Martin, for the exceptional service!
