For the past year, it was not working efficiently, and several times it needed to be serviced because it just, well, shut-off. Its retirement was at-hand. Due to Southern California Edison's power surge resulting from their faulty equipment, I was unable to turn on my A/C because the thermostat was blank. I couldn't do anything with it!! It had to happen during our recent heat wave!! I stepped out on the wrong foot and called the company who installed my Forced Air and A/C Units for a service call. The guy was gave me an outrageous quote of $1,500 to fix it and that was just for starters. He wasn't entirely sure what the issue was. So, since I was leery of paying that much money and still wasn't sure if it would be fixed, I searched for another company. There was no appointment available until Sept. 8, so I took it. Justin showed up within the specified time frame. He first introduced himself, then brought in his ladder and tool belt. He was respectful & professional. Within less than 10 minutes, he discovered the transformer had blown and we discussed the price and he replaced it. He then proceeded to tell me he was done. I was incredulous that it was really all repaired and functioning! He assured me it was good to go! The work was completed for $200, which included the $82.50 service call fee! One Way was one of 5 companies I called for a quote to install a new central air conditioning system in our home. Randy's quote was by far the lowest price, in addition to being the clearest and most complete, including five different options in terms of features and equipment used. One requirement we had was to provide two different temperature control zones, one for upstairs, one for downstairs. Two of the companies would not even quote this aspects of the job. Randy not only happily included it, his price was lower than the companies that only quoted a single zone. I had initially asked Randy to include the cost of also replacing our 23 year old gas furnace. After inspecting it, he advised that our existing furnace would give us many more years of service, and advised that we save the money and not replace it. Pretty solid proof that Randy is a very honest businessman. Installation went on schedule, and we couldn't be happier with the performance of the system. Their level of expertise and experience was signicantly higher than the other firms I got estimates and recomendations from. They demonstrated a strong understanding of building science and applied it to my specific situation. Being Torrance based, they understand the climate zone as well. In the process, they otimized/right-sized both the efficiency of the unit and the ducting system, As a result, they didn't oversell me on the unit to be installed either. Could not have asked for better service. Justin was an absolute lifesaver!! This hot time of year, HVAC companies are overwhelmed with hot, anxious customers. I was given a service call date about a week away - no problem. I was told my repair person would be Justin. A few days before the scheduled date, Justin called and said he was in the neighborhood and he could stop by if I wanted him to. Heck, yes! He not only quickly diagnosed the situation, he spent about 20 minutes on the phone with me explaining everything. I had a new furnace and ducting installed and asbestos removed. Randy was very thorough and very knowledgeable. And the price was right. They subcontract with an asbestos removal company, which is great because it was difficult to find someone willing to remove asbestos. The reason for four stars instead of five is because they could use improvement in the area of communication. All questions must go through Malisa, whether phone or email. Then she asks Randy and gets back to you. Then if you have a follow-up question you have to repeat the whole process, which can be very slow at times. There were also a couple of times where there was miscommunication. All that said. I would work with them again. read more

We had Justin come out a couple of times to fix the AC unit. He seems like a really nice and polite guy, but we did not appreciate his lack of communication with the status of our work order (he admitted to dropping a ball on researching a part we needed). In addition, he broke MULTIPLE promises to relay his professional opinion about financial responsibility to a realtor. Although I can understand he did not want to get caught between the realtor and customer, then he should NOT have committed to speaking to the realtor when he was going to ignore the promises he made with us any way. We felt betrayed by his severe lack of regard for customer service despite his nice demeanor in person. Melissa, the receptionist, was pretty good about relaying the messages between us and Justin since he never wanted to speak to us directly any more. He was not timely with the report which delayed our work order and, in the end, he did not help with our AC unit getting fixed. Bottom line to the business: Make sure the employees do not disappoint the customers with false promises that they cannot deliver. read more

Tried for 2 weeks get this company to provide estimate. Twice for 2 weeks scheduled appointment on my days off and both time they canceled. It was only available time between 1-4pm. if I worked and how could I possibly accommodate this time frame? I asked to provide ate least 30 min head-ups call so I could get to my house and they refused. Tech will not call. I had at least 3 another companies were happy to accommodate my schedule, but not this place I do not know nothing about quality of these folks work, but how could trust these company with such poor customer service. Here's why: I recently purchased a house requiring a complete replacement and modernization of both a gas furnace and central air conditioning system, including relocating the furnace from a closet to the attic, installing a return, replacement of ducts and registers, and putting the house on two thermostat zones. Not only an important piece of equipment to the house, but a major financial outlay, as well. I'm a commercial property manager by profession, so I take contracting work to outside parties very seriously (having seem far too many problems) and have a very high standard. I considered four different firms for this work and One Way met every requirement - from licensing; to insurance; to information-gathering through the job-site walk-through; and subsequent questions about the equipment and work - all before I contracted with them. The work was done when promised, as promised, on schedule, and without additional charges. -- The workers were not only knowledgeable and proficient, but were exceptionally courteous and nice, too. -- I asked for a change while they were working (adding about 15 minutes of extra work), and they not only made the change, but did so gladly and were very pleasant about it. (And if you know contractors, you know that's unusual.) -- They went out of their way to try to keep the house as clean as possible during the extensive work. -- One man even took an extra precaution to keep my cats safe for the time AFTER they left, making a special protective cardboard wall plate to cover where they removed some equipment (or it would have been open to the cats). read more

I had three other companies come out to see what was wrong with my air conditioning unit- it's was one of those hott days a while back- they came out and very quickly fixed it. I plan to only use this company. The other companies wanted to not only make up what was wrong withy the unit and over charge me- one wanted to have me but a whole new unit- I own a flower shop and I like honest and real business. He could easily upcharge the bill and repairs due to my lack of knowledge but when he feels it's just a cleaning and general service that's all he does. They are busy as are most Companies in the area. So it took awhile to get them here. Once here they were fast and efficient took the time do do a thorough job cleaning the condensers and finishing a DYI repair I didn't have time to complete. They were excellent at communicating. Great customer service, with cost-effective efforts to resolve HVAC-service needs instead of needlessly gouging customers for diagnostic services. My former HVAC service provider gave me three estimates totaling over $3,000 to address the loss of refrigerant in my line, which appeared to be caused by the coil assembly in the attic fan judging by the light mix of oil and refrigerant that were visible. Justin and Owen came to my house today, quickly checked-out my system and literally fixed the issue by simply taking apart the assembly and tightening a nut at the thermal extension valve.
