They load the toppings on the pizza which is great, but I did not think the crust was thick enough to support everything so it got a little soggy. The worst greasy pizza I've ever had. Margarita had lots of sauce (disgusting) and just a little weird tasting cheese also over salted mushroom pizza. Pasta was over salty and creamy. So an hour later when it showed up but it was a white pizza with funky gross mushrooms and overly garlicky and absolutely no tomato sauce -- and a salad that had the palest tomatoes (it's the end of May in Sac of Tomatoes gimme a FKN break) and a small container of oil--not vinaigrette, I was livid ($64). OK, I'm going to broach the big tables in the room. What was once an epic pizza restaurant has transitioned into a to-go pizza factory. Covid can probably take much of the blame, but it seems One Speed has totally given up on atmosphere and on being a fine-in restaurant. While dining there last time we had a perfect view of an employee folding pizza boxes. Not because we had a view of the back room, but because the middle of the dining room (it is small to begin with) has become a to-go pizza processing plant. Orders being taken loudly over the phone, boxes being packed, and a line of Door Dash drivers cued in the entry way. The pizza is still great, the service near perfect, but if you're hoping for a cool, hip spot for date night this is no longer the place. Been five years since my first review. Thought I would update given we ate dinner there on Tuesday. Was wonderful again. The four of us each ordered a different item, and everyone was very please. For the first time we arrived here for a February 2022 birthday celebration and they didn't have main dishes available like what happened? I guess that particular cook was not present unfortunately:( My wife's favorite was the frito misto & she also had their chopped salad. I had one of their specials which consisted of mirepoix soup with Italian sausage, cannelloni beans, spinach and clams which I totally enjoyed. I wasn't super hungry but I did order the focaccia bread as a decent side though a bit salty at times. We had returned here a couple times later for dinner at the suggestion of one of our close friends. It was hopping & during the week! Luckily we found street parking right away as that can be challenging at times. Hostess seated us right by the door which was chilly for an April spring day! ! So I asked to be seated elsewhere. It worked out bc we were near the bar & not by the drafty door! Yay! We were happy to see specials on the chalkboard when you first walk through the main door. that included choices for dinner. Wifey wanted to eat something different from our first visit that she almost ordered this particular entree that would have been way too spicy for her. It contained Calabrian chili aioli! So her friend had to eat around it as it was like on FIRE for even her girlfriend! Good thing my choice was better & not spicy at all as it was the special pizza containing eggplant (my favorite), summer squash, balsamic onions, fresh mozzarella, capers, tomato sauce and basil. It was amazingly tasty pizza with a thin crust. They obviously do a grand job here with their pizzas as many people order them to go & take it home for a fulfilling meal. What a novel idea! Right? Especially since this restaurant is located around our local East Sacramento fabulous forties neighborhood. Our most recent visit included great service, perfect specials for the day: an entree & cheesy bacon pizza plus the sharing of wifey's favorite appetizer frito misto & awesome company. No doubt we will return here again & again. Just remember they are closed Sundays & Mondays! They do have outdoor seating that is shady in the late afternoon perfect for dinner & for most seasons in Sactown! I came in to order a pizza & salad TO GO, Place is always busy, ordered a beer and then placed my order- 4:30pm about 10 min pass a waiter says did you order a salad? yes. he drops off my salad. The girl running the bar is pretty hard to get her attention, still waiting on pizza, trying to pay her is hard she NEVER looks up, i finish the beer still trying to pay out- 5:15pm no pizza , finally I get the girls attention to pay for the food I ordered, then a waiter says did you order a pizza... I said yes he said oh take your time I said I can take the pizza he said I'll put your name on it, I paid out the pizza is sitting at the end of a table with my name on it I just pick it up and take it to go..., get the pizza home, IT IS COLD AND HARD... like it was sitting the entire time i was there! They use SUCH A LITTLE BIT OF INGREDIENTS THE PIZZA JUST HAS A HARD PLASTIC THING CHEESE SHELL, you cannot pick it off its just hard and cold, it's supposed to be a sausage pizza but there is barely any sausage there is not sausage on every piece there is barely any sauce on the whole pizza but the bottom of the pizza is black so all you can taste is burnt cold hard gross crust! I knew I should've opened it up at the restaurant I don't know why they wouldn't tell me my pizza was ready when it was ready , it's not like the bartender even gives a shit what's going on she just floats around... and the guy bringing me my 10 minutes in I was wondering if my pizza was ready then?! My husband and I decided to go to One Speed again since the first time we went we had such a good time in the cozy little setting and dinner. We got there Saturday around 12 o'clock when they opened for lunch. We were greeted at the door and seated pretty quickly by the window. My husband and I took our time going over the menu, me being the indecisive person I am when it comes to food vacillated back and forth a million time because I just love good food ha ha! So the husband ordered pepperoni and sausage (his go to) and I ordered the Roasted Broccoli & Cauliflower Salad with goat cheese, almonds,arugula and a caramelized onion vinaigrette AND the Pork and Fennel Meatballs with Sweet Potato Puree and Chili Flakes.....my god I don't even know where to begin. The salad arrived and visually it was beautiful. The caramelization on the cauliflower was perfect. Both the broccoli and cauliflower was perfectly cooked, arugula fresh and crisp, and just the right amount of vinaigrette. The little surprise of warm goat cheese thought was just delightful and the flavors melded so well. Now for the meatballs....HEAVEN. The fennel was just the right amount not to over power the pork, the added silky mashed sweet potato puree and the dusting of chili flakes was the perfect accompaniment to the dish. I keep coming back for my favorite- the carnivore calzone. Too large to eat all at once, it is basically a pizza folded in half. Katie and I usually split one. But it is so good. The sausage spices, smoked flavor are a couple things I really enjoy about this dish. First come, first served seating we've been fortunate in never having to wait. Went to this place a few days ago due to our original plans being scrubbed. This place did not disappoint. Onespeed had a very nice ambiance. Outdoor dining, had lights to set the mood. We got their fried Brussels sprouts which were very yum. Their special for the night was the carbonara pizza. Very flavorful, and was delicious. Paired with their cocktail was a must. It was a nice low key place to enjoy some "normalcy". The only thing that gave it a 4 in my book was the location and parking. It was hard to find and parking was hard. Although they have the best pizza in all of Sacramento, don't sleep on the salad! This sardine and beet salad was one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life and I'm not even being hyperbolic. We also had the garden and pepperoni pizzas, olives and hummus to start and banana crème pie to finish. They are always busy and do not take reservations. I almost never review but this really warranted the effort. We had a salade and foccacia to start with. The salade was drenched in so much vinegarette it was so overwhelming. There was shrimps too that tasted very fishy. You really have to go your way to make a terrible salade. The foccacia was clearly reheated and not fresh. It tasted pretty bad as well. They threw some herbs on top and some parmesan cheese and stuck in the oven for a moment to "revive" it I guess. why the hummus? Such an odd choice for a foccacia. The hummus didn't taste good either at all. On with mains. Hands down the worst "pomodoro" I've ever tasted. I should've known better when I saw the description but I thought hey maybe there's a method to their madness. It's like the nightmare version of a puttanesca. It tasted so overwhelmingly fishy, like the anchovies were either of a very bad quality or it had gone bad. Needless to say, one bite was more than I could handle. For sure, worst dish I've had in I don't know long. Youtube is accessible to all and you can simply look up what a pomodoro sauce looks like. Didn't even bother to ask if the food was okay since we left so much of it. Also, we had the margarita pizza which was bad. I don't how they managed to put so much sauce and yet tasted bland? how they managed to get it dry in the bottom and raw in the middle? Final thought: I don't know how dare you put this price tag on such a lackluster and quite frankly inedible food? The whole thing felt like an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. Definitely a contender for best pizza place in Sacramento! Nestled in the little Italy part of East sac, this bustling pizza spot is full of energy and smells great too. The place was pretty packed but we were seated pretty quickly without much of a wait. The service is fantastic, we didn't wait long for food and everybody was very friendly. I ordered a orange cream soda as a treat yoself moment to myself which was delicious! Then I ordered the pepperoni pizza while my partner had the meat lovers calzone. Both were delicious and baked to perfection with a nice char underneath and no burnt sides. The pepperoni had some yummy mushrooms and a garlic oil that added a nice flare to an old classic. We came here for a friend's birthday this past weekend and utilized the banquet room. I believe my friend had to put down a deposit and had pizzas served catering style. There was also salad and white cheddar mac n cheese. Food was pretty good. We've been here before with another friend so we decided this would be a good place for our friend's birthday. The staff was really great about keeping him in suspense and surprised by having us all there and making them wait to come in, thinking they had a reservation for 3 people. The service was pretty on point, but I was surprised that they didn't provide the dessert/cake with the catering services and we had a private room. There was a lot of awesome decor done as well. The reason I docked two stars was because they did not communicate with my friend (who was hosting/paying for the party) that certain beverages weren't included. Fountain drinks such as iced teas and sodas were apparently included and of course, I figured any alcoholic beverages would be an extra charge. The server came around towards the end and asked if anyone would like any hot coffee or tea. So a few of us were like, sure, why not? It was all good until they came around and delivered a surprise bill to each of us. ($4.50+tax for a single tea bag and hot water, folks! Yikes!) Not cool. My friend was also completely unaware that we were charged and had no idea. I just thought it was weird that the staff didn't think to inform our friend (the host) or the guests that hot tea/coffee was not included, but fountain drinks were. OneSpeed is one of the best places to get a pizza (or hamburger) in all of Sacramento. The restaurant is cozy and has a sweet local vibe to it. It is a very popular place to eat, however, so be prepared to wait if you come during a lunch or dinner rush. My favorite thing about OneSpeed is the quality of the food. They use high quality ingredients to prepare the items that they serve you. I've had tons and tons of pizza from chain restaurants (large and small), but OneSpeed pizza is on another level. Everything about it is done perfectly. I am really just a huge fan of the taste and preparation. Though pizza is the star of the show, the other food at OneSpeed is impressive as well. I had the hamburger there and was extremely surprised at how juicy it was. This was also one of the best burgers I have ever had in Sacramento. OneSpeed sure knows how to make it a hard choice as to what to get! If I had to be critical on one thing, it would be that OneSpeed is pricier than your average restaurant, so just don't let there be any sticker shock when you come! Holy Mother of Pizza! Not quite sure why we've never eaten here before, we have definitely been missing out, but not anymore!!! I had heard GREAT things so we were excited to try OneSpeed. We couldn't decide what pizzas to get so we went with three varieties: The Ricks minus Canadian bacon, sub w/ pepperoni - this was a burst of savory flavors, it was truly divine! The Mushroom w/ no mushrooms - I know, I know, I'm just not a shroom person, but OMG, this was sinfully amazing. I honestly could've easily eaten this entire pizza by myself! Plain pepperoni for my 9 year old kiddo. In his own words he said " where have you been all my life" and that this was the best pizza he's ever had. We've been coming to this place for years and it was always perfect. Lately, after Covid, this place has gone downhill. They have messed up a to go orders on a few occasions. Tonight, it was probably the worst. Fritto misto went into the trash because it was burned. The trout and beet salad was missing the sauce, and it was poorly prepared, unlike before. The egg was overcooked, and it just looked like they dumped all of the ingredients carelessly and disproportionately in there. The seafood stew wasn't good either. It's pretty disappointing to get home with a to go order that you waited for over an hour to find out that it's poorly prepared. I'm not even sure if we'll go there again. Have you ever had white Port and tonic? It's a simple combination that is just so damn refreshing and delicious I could've downed it by the pitcher! I have One Speed to thank for introducing me to this lovely libation which I will now make the official drink of summer. Notice that at this point in the review I haven't mentioned food or service. That's because on this visit we didn't have much of an opportunity to experience either due to an infant who couldn't tolerate the busy Friday night environment here. So as quickly as we ordered we had to leave, and took our food to go. The staff was incredibly understanding of our situation and the owner even took my wife and son on a kitchen tour stating his kids were soothed by it in the past. We ordered two of the nightly specials, which are prominently displayed on the board when you walk in. One was a lamb polpetto (meatball) and the other a spring garlic pesto pasta with preserved tomato (tomato confit I think), pine nuts and eggplant. The polpetto was light and juicy, served in a rich, smoky tomato sauce over top white polenta (I think) with roasted fennel. It was intense, and delicious. Extremely well done, but a heavy dish for one to enjoy. The pasta was a bit of a let down. Somewhat one note, and I felt like it needed more of the ingredients to fill it out. I will say the pizza looked phenomenal, and there were several other dishes calling to me on the menu.
