We made a reservation for 5pm and our table was set up and ready before we even got there! The service here was good, where someone was checking in on us throughout the meal and telling us to take our time which was kind. Inside is very clean and modern and there seems to be plenty of seats. There are also outdoor seats, but unsure if they're using the patio or not yet! We got their haemooljang, and the marinated crab and scallops were so flavorful and fresh tasting! Combined with the onion and cilantro, it was such a good bite! We also got the gamjatang (medium size) and the flavor of the soup was the perfect amount of spice! We got the large galbijjim, which was really good. It definitely leans on the sweeter side with their sauce, but inside has yummy rice cakes, mushrooms, potatoes, carrot and daikon! Would definitely come here again and we are already planning what we'll order on our next visit!

was excited to try this new korean place as there's not a lot of korean restaurants in torrance. located in a popular plaza, there's decent amount of parking. there's also ample seating in the establishment. it's clean, spacious, and can seat from solo eaters to big groups. the food was good! we had the hangjung sooyuk, sogomtang, and perila seed kalguksu. the hangjung sooyuk was interesting. not what is super common to the traditional korean palette so was taken aback. felt like a fusion of korean sooyuk with pesto/chimichurri sauce. the sogomtang + perilla seed kalguksu were good! i just think that it didn't have a wow factor or 'i'm definitely coming back' factor to get the full 5 stars.

ONKI in Korean means "warmth," and the word can describe many things. When a restaurant names itself ONKI, you would naturally expect to experience some kind of warmth -- whether from the atmosphere, the employees, or, most importantly, the food. I have been a South Bay resident since the mid-80s. I grew up here and have watched many restaurants open and close over the years. Whenever a new restaurant opens, I always make a point to visit, hoping it will be a good addition to the neighborhood and, ideally, one that stays for the long term. Having a good restaurant in the neighborhood is always a plus, especially a Korean restaurant, since I feel the South Bay is still lacking good Korean dining options. So, when I finally had the opportunity to visit ONKI, I was looking forward to it. It was my uncle's birthday, so we decided to have a nice Korean family lunch at ONKI. We arrived at 11:00 AM sharp, but the OPEN sign was not on. I slowly opened the door and asked one of the employees if they were open. He looked annoyed, showed very little expression, and simply told me, "We open at 11," before walking over to turn on the OPEN sign. I was honestly confused as to whether that meant we were welcome to come in or not. Since he turned on the sign, I assumed it was okay and we went inside. We were the first customers of the day. What we ordered: * Gamjatang Jeongol * Dduk Galbi × 2 Gamjatang Jeongol: The gamjatang was good, but honestly, nothing particularly special or out of the ordinary. I mention this because the restaurant promotes itself with a famous Korean chef, so I expected the gamjatang to be noticeably better than what you might find at an average Korean restaurant. In fact, I would say the gamjatang served at the food court inside Hannam Chain, which is in the same plaza, is comparable. I would rate the gamjatang as average. That said, the fried rice they make afterward was delicious and was probably my favorite part of the meal. Dduk Galbi: Unfortunately, I would not order this again. It was simply way too sweet for my taste. We also asked for some plain rice to have with our meal before the fried rice was prepared. The rice that was served was disappointing. It was not warm at all, and the texture and temperature made it seem like rice that had been sitting in a rice cooker for a very long time -- possibly overnight. I really did not feel that we were served freshly prepared rice. I have actually visited a restaurant owned by Chef Lee Won-il in Korea, which is another reason I had certain expectations coming into ONKI. If this were the level of food and service I experienced in Korea, I would honestly be concerned about how long a restaurant could remain open. I really wanted to like this place. I want ONKI to succeed. I want there to be more good Korean restaurants in the South Bay, and I was genuinely hoping this would become one of my go-to neighborhood restaurants. Unfortunately, the experience left me disappointed. As a restaurant customer, how employees treat and greet customers is very important to me. Food can always be subjective, but the way you make a customer feel when they walk through the door can set the tone for the entire meal. I wish the employee who greeted us had shown just a little more ONKI in him. Instead, he was about as cold as the rice we were served. To be fair, the other employees were nice. But unfortunately, sometimes one employee can negatively affect the entire experience for a customer. I sincerely hope ONKI improves because I really wanted this place to be good. I would love to come back someday and feel the warmth that its name promises.

My friends and I made a special trip out of Los Angeles down to Torrance to try the new & hot Onki! Admittedly we had high expectations with it being Korean celeb chef Won-Il Lee's first American restaurant AND The Infatuation recently saying it's the best gamjatang in all of Los Angeles. Long story short, everything we had was good but I have had better at a few places in terms of gamjatang and the service wasn't very friendly, either. We had a good meal but were honestly a bit disappointed. On your way to Onki, I recommend checking Yelp Waitlist to see if there is a wait and add your name to the list before arriving. My friends and I went on a weekday around 6pm so there was no wait - a nice win! Per all the recommendations, we ordered the gamjatang jeongol and the fried rice which they make with the leftover broth, adding the cheese. I was excited to start with some tasty banchan and had heard the pickled radish in yuzu was good and it was! But overall we found the banchan to be a bit lackluster. The Gamjatang was a large portion and came with a nice presentation. Simmering laced with potato pieces and neckbones, some mushrooms and green onions, the pork swims among the ingredients nicely. However the flavor wasn't packing the punch we are used to in our gamjatang and the meat wasn't juicy. I was thankful that post meal they packed all leftovers nicely for us and with 3 people, we definitely had leftovers for such a big portion. Overall, I'm glad I went to experience the Chef's first adventure into the U.S. but it's not a place I'd head back to in the future.

Onki is a Korean restaurant that specializes in galbi-jjim and gamjatang. We showed up just before the lunch-hour rush and got a table easily; by the time we finished eating, there were a lot of people waiting outside to dine in. We opted for the shareable galbi-jjim and gamjatang. Came with four banchans, which were just-okay. The gamjatang came piled with plenty of tender pork, although it was a bit overly salty. The galbi-jjim was my favorite, as the beef was sweet and savory, pretty tender as well. Overall, decent spot for galbi-jjim, but the flavors could've been punchier. Portions were a bit on the smaller side for the price we paid. It isn't Sun Nong Dan, but for the South Bay, it does the trick. Go early!

Was more impressed by the gamjatang (more adventurous pick for me) than the sogomtang. Get the sogomtang it's very flavorful. I enjoyed the side dishes and dipping sauce for meat.

I highly recommend their soy marinated seafood platter. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious, came with crab shrimp and scallops. The portion was so generous that the two of us couldn't even finish it. We also ordered the gamjatang jeongol which were super flavorful and huge. The service was excellent and very friendly. They open at 11 AM and we arrived right when they opened by the time we left around noon there was already a line outside. This is a new restaurant that I discovered through Instagram even though it's a little far from us, my friend and I both thought it was worth the drive great food, generous portions and wonderful service. Highly recommend.

Checked out a new Korean spot in Torrance and it was a great experience for me. Small menu, big flavor: pork neck soup with tableside fried rice, galbi with mashed potatoes (my pick), pork jowl suyuk, and soy‑marinated seafood. Add‑ons like japchae, pancakes, and corn cheese round things out. The place is modern, clean, and surprisingly stylish. Stainless‑steel bowls, chill atmosphere, and great service thanks to arriving during a slower time. Always stay open‑minded when trying new spots, good energy brings good energy back. Miguel C.

This restaurant is amazing. My friend and I both loved it. We ordered the soy marinated seafood platter and it was so good. It got a lot of crabs, shrimps, and scallops. The pork backbone soup was huge. The soup was good with a little bit spicy. We got the grill pork jowl and the Wagyu patties too. The service was great and good place to hang out with friends.

So this place replaced what used to be Yoritofu which was a jjajangmyun place, Full House, before that.... I've heard good things about how this is a Korean celebrity chef owned spot. The ambiance is sleek and clean and I love all the brass metal bowls and utensils but the menu is VERY limited here. Only come if you're in the mood for gamjatang (spicy pork potato stew), expensive kalbi, pork jowl or spicy marinated raw crab. They also give u only 3 meager side dishes. One of the servers was initially attentive and started to help us cut the pork from the bone but suddenly got busy and said he'll come back to help us but never did. For $58 for a gamjatang plus $5 for noodles, I expected to be blown away but I think the places in ktown are way better & cheaper.

Came with my husband for a quick dinner before our trip to the Korean market. We were quickly greeted and seated. Of course we had to order the gamjatang (pork neck stew - size medium) and the haemuljang (soy marinated raw crab, shrimp & bay scallops). The haemuljang was delicious and very fresh. It did skew a little sweeter than I would normally like but the hints of crushed red pepper along with the sliced onions and cilantro added a nice texture and contrast. The gamjatang was also delicious! The pork was super tender and the broth was slightly spicy...not the usual Szechuan peppercorn tongue-numbing flavor. We were unable to finish both because it was a lot of food but we were told others normally do and get rice dish to finish off the meal. I was really wishing we had more people with us so we could've enjoyed that. Not much in banchan offering. Service was prompt and attentive. We will definitely be returning.

It seems they're still cranking out issues at the restaurant. There were only two wait staff the day I went, and they were rushing around. Upon arriving, I think a clearer explanation of how waiting to be seated works would have been better. We saw a couple come and go twice before deciding to leave, probably thinking they were being turned away. It was a lot more awkward and back-and-forth, but essentially, this was the waiting process with a full house: we were given a menu and asked to wait outside. We noticed the party ahead of us took a seat at one of the outdoor tables, so we followed suit. The waiter took our order, and said he would get us when a table opened up inside. Regardless, the food was amazing. We ordered the pork jowl and braised short ribs (galbijjim). Pork jowl: as someone who loves cilantro, the chimichurri sauce was delicious. I saved the sauce to dip the short ribs in it. Our pork jowl wasn't overly fatty, and melted in our mouth. There was a nice grill taste to the pork as well. Galbijjim: for those who are not familiar with eating braised short ribs, the sauce does get a little rich and overwhelming. Because the carrots, daikon, potatoes, short ribs are all coated in the same sauce, you really rely on the rice or banchan to help break up the flavors of the sauce. The fried rice cakes were a surprising touch to the dish. The short ribs were tender, and the braising sauce was amazingly sweet and savory. Banchan: oh my god their pickled radish with yuzu. It was our first time tasting pickled radish with yuzu and it was amazing. It was a surprising citrusy pop that we really enjoyed. I really hope Onki does well in Torrance

We went there today for the first time. Service was friendly and the place was packed. Turnover was a little slower, but the service was so friendly that we didn't mind and weren't in a rush. The place is clean and bright. Love the gold serving dishes and utensils. Now for the food stuff- the Kalbi was good but a little pricey, my gf loved the chapchae with mushrooms (more of a thicker potato noodle), the kimchee jeon was nice. The pork jowl was a little fattier than I'm used too since I usually cook it to a crisp where the fat turns crispy. All in all a pleasant meal. Will come back for the kamjatang and seafood. Shout out to our cute server and Jay the owner for a nice opening month.

What wasn't fine was being treated as though we weren't there at all, repeatedly, by the owner. It's a small thing to make eye contact and say "we'll be with you shortly," and it's the difference between a customer who waits patiently and one who walks out feeling disrespected. I can't speak to the food, we never got to try it. For example, the 2 rib special looks fantastic but the meat is tough to eat. The noodles are flat, need some flare. The rice bowls lack flavor.
