Yummm. This place is tasty. The owners are great - pretty sure I met them while ordering with my fam - and they give the place such a fun vibe. The fish is amazing. They let you taste if you're not sure what it is you want, and they make sure to sprinkle a little Hawaiian salt on it too so you get the full experience. They give you pretty solid amounts, and the fish is always fresh. You can tell and you can see them cutting it next to where you order it. They also provide sauce on the table which is great if you're more of a saucy gal (/guy) like I am. The onlyyy thing is I wish they had more options for the sides (seaweed salad, edamame, etc.) or let you choose two selections. I know, I know, that's more the California version, but still. I'm telling it how I feel. It was still delicious and filled me up for sure even with a normal size. Definitely would recommend this place and try and get there early enough to get your fav fish poke!! They run out if you're too late! read more

Great Poke spot!! Love it. I've been searching for some on the main land and this is the best I've seen so far without being too high-end expensive or hipster. Great location for dine in or take out. Really friendly, fast service with really reasonable prices and good sized portions. I don't live in the area, but this would be dangerous if I did. Definitely worth checking out! I've never written a yelp review before but felt compelled to after such a positive experience here :) Went to Ono pretty close to closing to grab a quick dinner and the staff were so friendly. While the group of us hung out and ate outside, the owner even came out to greet us and make sure we enjoyed the meal. The poke was delicious (Hawaiian salt mixture was awesome) and they like to mix up the menu as well, so there's different things to try each time. Thanks Ono! read more

I've been hearing the buzz about this place for a while... it seems like forever, but it appears that it has only been open for less than 2 months-ish. We live in South LFP, but the Edmonds PCC is really the most convenient branch of our preferred food purveyor and so we find ourselves here a lot, especially on weekend mornings to do the BIG WEEKLY SHOP. Yesterday (Saturday), I finally got the chance to swing by Ono Poke afterwards to grab take-out lunch for myself and hubby. I walked in and was trying to figure out what was what. The staff greeted me warmly and offered samples of everything in the case- all of which was amazing! (They very craftily/genius-like put a few grains of sea salt onto the samples before they offer it to you.) Yesterday, the options were Ahi Tuna (traditional, spicy, wasabi, and oyster sauce styles), salmon (spicy and shoyu styles), and tako (shoyu and spicy kimchee styles). Note: Shoyu is the Japanese term for traditional soy sauce- but it's a less salty, thicker version than what commonly passes for mass-produced soy sauce nowadays. One of the counter gals (there were two) cheerily told me that the ahi was flown in daily from Hawaii, salmon from Alaska (fresh, never frozen), and tako (octopus) comes from Japan. I've now seen the Yelp pics of the owner breaking down the giant fish, so I believe the freshness (backed up by my taste buds yesterday) would be hard to beat. I decided to forego the Joe's special (a regular-size sample of every poke in the case, but 1.5x the price of just picking one choice) and got 2 regular poke bowls. In the end, I went with the spicy salmon and spicy ahi. Each bowl (sized small, regular, or large) comes on a bed of either sushi rice, salad, or a mix of half & half. Your choice of poke. Then a seaweed salad on top. All the produce is claimed as organic and meticulously sourced. Additionally, the seaweed salad is MSG free. Everything tasted fresh, light, and delicious! If you love (really really good) sushi, like ME ME, then this is your jam. Why? It's basically deconstructed sushi without the high prices of labor-intensive work (at least in terms of actually making the sushi.. recognizing that breaking down a giant fish is quite labor intensive!) My $13 poke bowl flavor bomb would have (in my best estimation) translated to at least 12-15 pieces (maybe more) of sushi at a high end restaurant. You do the math. And by the way... all the mahalo's and "closed when the waves are up" and genuine warmth from the staff/owners/etc really does remind me of golden times in Hawaii. Read all the good reviews and decided to pay a visit. This place surprised me in so many ways how they managed to get such high ratings. When i first walked in the store and view how the fish was showcased. I felt underwhelmed. Dirty dirty dirty. Cleanliness of the store is 0/5. The guy that scooped the fish used the same dirty gloves probably his whole shift. Price tags kept falling down in the marinated fish and he kept digging his hands in there to pull it up multiple times i was there. The whole food prep station is very dirty and sticky. Rice was very dry bc they don't keep it in the rice cooker. It was out in the open and covered by a single piece of plastic wrap. Fishes were over marinated. Over priced for such small portion. If it wasnt my friend who insisted me to buy and give it a try despite all the red flags i saw when first walked in, i would definitely be out after a minute in there. A huge turn off how they handle to serve raw fish. Will not recommend and will never be back! read more

This is the best poke I have had on the mainland - one haoli's opinion. I enjoyed some guava nectar and salmon poke on a hot day and it was absolutely divine. I ordered the regular size with white rice, cucumber kimchi, spicy ahi, and hamachi. Lasted me two meals and was simply divine. They order fish fresh from the Honolulu fish auction and you can really tell by the quality and freshness of the fish. They also don't add unnecessary stuff to the poke so the fresh fish really shines. They make me want to live closer to Edmonds so I could stop by more often. YUM. read more

Best poke in Seattle.. so far at least for me. Service was amazing and friendly, well I came during a really slow hour(3ish pm) but credit where its due anyways. The poke was amazingly good and they are generous and reasonable with the portions. The freshness and quality of the salmon and yellowtail(special of the day) was A+++. Different than any poke places I've been to, they serve their rice cold, colder than sushi rice, and it blends well with the proteins. Another thing is they added sea salt to every poke bowl, i was sceptical at first at what they are adding to my bowl, but damn the sea salt was the icing on the cake. Yum. Poke just like in the islands. Pre-marinated, fresh and super tasty. The service is super warm and selection is good (but get there early - they do run out). They'll give you tastes of anything you want. Got a regular w 2 choices - shoyu ahi and special spicy local albacore. Choice of rice or salad. Choice of seaweed salad or cucumber kimche. I got the cucumber kimche - nice and crunchy, a little spicy. No mix-ins, but that's Hawaii style. They also have boiled peanuts! I ate half the bag with my poke bowl. Also had a great selection of beverages (love that they have lots of unsweetened options, plus beer and Hawaiian sun juices). We'll be back! read more

Ono Authentic Hawaiian Poke is exactly what the name says it is..."Authentic Hawaiian". From the moment you walk in, you can see the freshly made poke. The presentation is the way you would see it back home in Hawaii. It is TRUE authentic style and it is not like what typical "mainlanders" view as poke. Most places here in WA have have a presentation of just plain pre-frozen cube ahi. You make your poke like you would at a salad bar or like a burrito at Chipotle. At Ono Poke, the flavors are mixed in and the different dishes are already made like it would typically be done in Hawaii. Spicy ahi, miso salmon, taco (squid) poke, and Hawaiian style poke with fresh ogo, and inamona (kukui nut) for flavor just to name a few. All his styles are freshly mixed and made and delicious! They also offer cucumber kimchee which is fresh and is its amazing how the flavor sinks in to the cucumbers and is not watery like you would taste at home in Hawaii like Foodland's cucumber Kim chew is. Steve the owner is the friendliest guy as is all of his employees and they are all knowledgeable and more then happy to tell you about each of the dishes they offer in order for you to be familiar with each dish. Steve is very particular in the way the products look, are handled, and are served! They keep the store very clean and they serve the freshest quality fish and products! Excellent Poke. Better than any I've ever had, the freshness is insanely delicious. The quality of ingredients is always consistent and keeps me coming back time and time again. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is very clean and the decor is simple, but perfect. The seaweed salad is my favorite out of their vegetable options. Its excellent and tasty. The ahi (tuna) and salmon are amazingly seasoned. My favorites include: shoyu ahi/salmon, spicy ahi/salmon, & wasabi ahi/salmon (very balanced). I usually get a medium or large poke bowl and have my selections on a bed of salad. The salad dressing is very enjoyable and only adds to the flavor of the poke. Whether I'm dining in or getting it to go, it's always been an enjoyable and delicious experience. I'm looking forward to my next visit soon. *Just recently returned from the Big Island.
