I place a to go order in person I did order two coconuts with my order, I had to ask for a coconut carrier and on top of that when I got to the place I was going with the food I realized that the were no straws or spoon for the coconuts, which is something they always give you in order to drink de coconut water and pull the coconut meat from the inside of the coconut. I ordered a family meal (3 large portions of meat, rice, mac salad, and veggies), added one more meat to the family meal and an order of 2 spam misubis in app for takeout. I arrived 5 minutes past pick up time and the food still was not ready (mind you this is around 4pm in the afternoon so it's not even busy). After waiting another 10 minutes, the food was finally ready. I was staying about 10 minutes away at a hotel with the family and realized after we got to the hotel that they left out our spam misubi order! I immediately called the store and they insisted that the order was in the "smaller bag with the plates" while I argued that the only thing in that bag was sauces. I hear an "Oh" over the phone suddenly and then they said you can come back and we'll remake it for you free of charge (he probably noticed the order on the counter or something). Let me just say how is it free of charge when I already paid for the item and you're the one who forgot to give it to me? They didn't even offer my money back for the misubi or give me any extra misubis for my troubles. So after a 20 minute round trip, I finally have my misubi (no compensation or anything). The food itself tasted OK, wasn't anything super special but there wasn't anything wrong with it- it was what I would expect at Hawaiian bbq to taste like. Wow, it has been a really long time since I last visited this place. My recent return was during July covid 19 times. I called my order in and picked it up in within 10-15mins. No line. They are pre packaging the sauce for sanitary purposes which is great. Customer service was great. When I got home, I was utterly disappointed in reduction in portion size. They must have changed their container size to make sure they don't over portion like they did before. Called to adjust my order via phone considering they don't have the option to customize certain things on Uber eats. The woman that answered the phone was extremely rude to me and before I was even done making my corrections she hung up the phone on me. This is completely rude and unacceptable. I go to that location all the time and the staff have very poor attitudes. I don't understand why people have to be so rude. If you don't like your job then find another one. I'm a little disappointed with my catering order for Saturday, June 30th. I placed the order online and paid for it. It was to be picked up at 12:15, when my husband arrived it was not ready. Oh, no! Ono Hawaiian BBQ in Downey was not quite the Bookmark Monday experience I was seeking. The place was mostly clean when I walked in today (4/27/15), but I chose to take my order to go. The service was nice, but it took a while to get my food and the place was hardly busy. Curry was on my mind when I stopped here. I love spicy. The spicier the better, but I was largely disappointed... I ordered the Island Curry Chicken ($7.49). It's one of "Aloha plates." With that and the purchase of a large fountain drink ($2.19), I used a coupon for a free crab rangoon appetizer (normally they are 6 for $4.19). The chicken was surprisingly good and moist except a few fatty pieces. The curry, on the other hand, was not spicy at all! The rice that came with this plate was a little sticky yet edible. I did not like the "house made dressing" on the salad at all. I should have asked for it on the side or not at all. The dressing tasted... sour. I have no words for it really. I took one bite and quit because it saturated all of the veggies. Other than that, it was a fresh salad. The (faux) crab (meat) rangoon was not in any stretch of the imagination flavorful, but it did have nice crispy edges. All I could taste was the cooking oil that the dumpling was deep-fried in. It's certainly not a bad option for a (quick - or maybe not) work lunch or a casual meal with friends. The portions were generous and mostly affordable for any budget. Everything was served hot.
