Congratulation on a new location. Let's learn how to cook rice correctly. It's very difficult to cook rice wrong if you are using a rice cooker. You just have to be careful when you put water. You are putting too much water somehow. Most of your entrees have some type of sauce, which makes rice softer. I didn't come to this restaurant to enjoy porridge. read more

One Hawaiian BBQ is cool place to stop in for a quick snack. I usually stop into one of their locations here and there to grab a couple of spam musubi's. Mainly when I'm out & about needing something quick to eat. The food is prepared pretty fast so no long waits. I do wish the spam could be a little thicker given the amount of seaweed surrounding it but all in all, they're a decent snack. I also like the hot teriyaki sauce that's provided for self serve. We left LAX to go home at 6 pm on a Friday and to avoid traffic we decided to stop by this place. What a dirty mess of a place. The trash bins we're overflowing with trash, floors had napkins and food, and tables need cleaning. Being the only Asian guy in the place I went up to the cashier to ask for two extra plates- she tried to finish my sentence by telling me I wanted chopsticks. I had a laugh and she got embarrassed so she told me most of the customers asks for chopsticks. Ono is always comfort food and always so good. Great service and delicious food. The katsu and potato salad are always so yummy!

My relationship with them is on and off because I love Hawaiian food and I'll eat here since it's closest to me and then I'll be somewhat disappointed but then months later I'll forget how disappointed I was and find myself here again since it's the nearest Hawaiian food and then the process repeats itself since I didn't learn from mistakes. The best thing they had going for them was their mac salad. On the other hand the Hawaiian BBQ beef was mostly fat. I spent 1/2 my time eating and the other 1/2 of my time picking the fat out. It's understandable if it was 3/4 eating 1/4 picking the fat out but that wasn't the case. There was even a whole bite of marinated barbecued fat. The taste was there except the quality was lacking. Another thing about most Hawaiian food is that portions are huge. That's just how it is in Hawaii - 1 plate lunch can feed 2. But this place doesn't match that. It's normal mainland portions. I really like this place. The food is consistent in flavor and portions or generous. We topically order the #1 Hawaiian BBQ plate combo comes with chicken, side of rice, cabbage and macaroni salad, drink comes separately. If a regular plate is to much they aldo have mini meals. Place is usually clean, staff is nice and prices are reasonable. The restroom is clean and tagging free. We've had food catered from them and its always a hit! read more

This place looked like it was going to be a good find but I was not pleased. They don't offer any smaller portion plates at this place. I hate paying $8 for a whole bunch of food that I can't finish. I wanted some fish and some macaroni salad. Simple and small. The lady and the counter helped me pick the best meal for what I wanted but I sill shelled out almost $9! The food took over 15 minutes to get to me! And the disappointment of all disappointments was as follows: NO FRESH TARTAR SAUCE! They only have the kind served in those little packets! There is very little that is more disgusting than that. Any place that serves those I would recommend switching to real tartar sauce, not only because the taste of those packets is miserable (think: room temp mayonnaise with small chunks of pickle. YUCK!), but there is a mentality that tartar sauce should be slightly chilled and not be sitting out like that. The macaroni salad is the only reason this place is getting two stars instead of one. Emily, the girl who took our order, somehow managed to be remarkably rude while taking our order, even though the interaction lasted only a minute. Then, after our order number was called, another female worker carelessly dropped our tray down onto the counter and didn't respond when we thanked her for it. And to top it off, one of the workers kept noisily pushing the chairs under the tables instead of lifting them, being needlessly obnoxious. As for the food: It wasn't too bad, but given the overwhelmingly bad experience I doubt I'd give this establishment another chance. This location has by far fell apart the last few years. I give them a 2 mainly one star or food and one star for the service. However the food is already pre-made all they have to do is warm/finish cooking it. It's not to bad as far as cleanliness in the seating area but it does however have weak customer service. The employees have no sense of urgency. They will let you wait 15-20 min for a to-go plate, as they eat/talk/check their phones.
