It's been awhile since I've come here but the bf wanted to come. It was just okay. Service took some time to get our order. Food was okay. Could use some seasoning. By bf enjoyed the teriyaki sauce over the katsu sauce. I preferred the tartar sauce especially with the fish. The veggies were bland. The Mac salad I liked as it wasn't too much mayonnaise. Wished there were more carrots. Most of the tables were occupied when we went. Some of the wall paper was peeling. Definitely needs an updating.

They offered an $8 special for the Seafood Aloha Plate for the entire month of April. Choice between the Crispy Shrimp, Lava Shrimp, or Island White Fish. My wife and I always enjoy the Island White Fish: 3 pieces of Island White Fish, 3 Scoops Rice with 1 Side Fresh Mix Salad!

For a chain, usually you know the food will be consistent. The price will be reasonable. People will typically not eat at the location. And it's really just more cookie cutter. But sometimes, somethings stand out at a particular chain that makes just a bit better than other "ordinary" chains. Ono is consistent. There are no surprises. But at this particular location? Angel is pretty awesome. Super nice and provides great service. He has been attentive and pleasant. Made my visit to Ono pretty great.

Honestly extremely disappointed with how bad the customer service and portions have become here. Ordered a combo plate and the NPC taking the order insisted that Mac salad was not included (completely wrong, have gotten Mac ONLY at times with same order) So we ended up having to order 2 sides of Mac salad... and they gave us spam musubi?? The portions of meat are ridiculously small for $17, attaching a photo of what we got Yeah, you guys need to get your shi together. Never coming back again except to get my refund for the Mac salad, y'all deserve to be closed down permanently

Good for a fast meal. Got the island fish. Prices aren't bad. Fish wasn't salty and was pretty soft. Not super fresh but it works. Rice was a bit harder than it should be.The beef is better for sure. But not terrible for a chain. And it does remind me of my hometown at least. Service is ok. Inside was pretty clean. Parking lot in front!

Unremarkable, but ok for a quick fix. Ordered the island spice grilled fish during their random $7 plate specials. Originally it would be $17 for the meal. Definitely not worth it at $17. Fish was barely seasoned, and quite mushy. It wasn't flaky like I'd expect fresh fish texture to be. Ordered a side of Mac salad that was also unremarkable. The mayo had an off taste and was quite watery, as if it was old. L&L still reigns supreme when it comes to Hawaiian bbq chains. Ono just can't hold a candle to their competition.

Food: I went with delivery since I was unable to leave work. ordered the Chicken mix plate with Chicken Katsu & Teriyaki Chicken. I also ordered Spam Masubi to try. I personally wasn't impressed. The Chicken Katsu was rather dry, the Teriyaki Chicken was great, and the Spam Masubi was lackluster. It missed the mark on flavorful. The side veggies offered a heap of cabbage with 2 small broccoli. The macaroni salad tasted like biting into an onion. If this is your thing, then this is definitely for you, but it all missed the mark for my tastebuds.

Shout-out to: Angel, who helped me during the YELP x Ono Hawaiian BBQ event Carlos who gave me info on how to place an Ono Family Meal Alyssa (I think this her name, she worked in the btwn 12pm to 1pm on Sunday, Dec 17th) who gave me extra utensils and followed up diligently about my Ono Family Meal - really appreciated they were able to accommodate 2 meats vs 3 meats and have my order ready since I was an hour early! My entire party loved all the food and left with happy tummies, no leftovers here!

lol- maybe I should've thought this through- before I said "ToGo!" Hee.

I'm so glad I looked up a chicken place that was tropical nearby me and I was lucky to have come across this little gym!! I had no idea they had fresh young coconut and I bought one as takeout before I realized I would literally have to carry it in a bag as I drive! Lol The young coconut was delicious and fresh, and I was able to scrape out all the coconut meat at my house! I got the chicken combo for my friend and she loved every bite of it and she's a picky foodie let me tell you!! She ate it over two days and she was really surprised that the flavor stayed as she reheated it on the stove top the second day! My barbecue chicken, luckily had no monosodium glutamate in it, which I'm highly allergic to! Being a foodie this sucks, and I can never eat Asian, soy sauce, or different Latin dishes because of this! I'm so happy I found this little gem of a place and my server was incredibly helpful, and I love the open atmosphere and relaxing Hawaiian music. They played in the background!! I've been back twice since this last visit, and I will be back again! Oh yeah, and my son, who is super picky, loved their spam musubi which is a side!!

After relocating to DTSJ, I am so glad there is a Ono Hawaiian BBQ nearby! I definitely prefer Ono's over L&L's because of the quality and flavor. I got the bbq katsu mix and a side of crispy shrimps. The bbq katsu mix is bbq chicken, bbq beef, and chicken katsu. Also, I was able to customize the meal; I did 1 scoop rice and a double scoop of Mac salad. Plus they did give a good amount of steamed cabbage. I was surprised that the side of crispy shrimps were good; it was lightly battered plus these shrimps were pretty large in size. Perfect to do a grab and go and meal is large enough to split into two meals (at least for me). Definitely will be visiting this location as it's fairly close to home and super convenient.

This is my local Hawaiian restaurant and they do it well. Being from the Bay area, I've been blessed/spoiled with not only having Hawaiian neighbors, but access to a half dozen Hawaiian restaurants. The fast-casual nature of Ono means no long waits with friendly staff and cooks spending a lot of time catch-up and chatting with friends instead of cooking. A call ahead for pick-up or strolling in and ordering at the cashier means food will come out in under 10 min. A very fast way to judge Hawaiian food is in 3 dishes, the short ribs (better be juicy and tender), the Kalua pork (better be flavorful and not dry) and the mac salad (flexibility here, but it better be tasty)! With options like two protein platters and side orders, you can stack up your favorites or sample something different. I went with my 3 staples (as well as tried the spicy chicken) and everything was spot on. Dinged a star for portion size (generosity seems to be taking a back seat to inflation). The spicy chicken doesn't stand out to the work horses of ribs and pigs, but was tender and tasty. I'm glad this place is down the street from my family's house, it fills that void and brings me back to my childhood days of friend BBQs and platters of delicious Hawaiian food!

Just when I make the decision to bump up my review thanks to the improvements seen, I am repeatedly reminded of the frustrations that go hand in hand with this particular Ono Hawaiian BBQ... The last time I was here, my order was incorrect and I didn't realize until I got home. What should have been a HAWAIIAN BBQ CHICKEN PLATE ended up being a CHICKEN COMBO. Im not sure how the cashier got CHICKEN COMBO frm HAWAIIAN BBQ CHICKEN but whatever. I was charged for the combo and received a combo.... Unfortunately the chicken Katsu was absolute garbage. Oily, dry, and didn't taste fresh!! This time around, we placed an order for a HAWAIIAN BBQ MIX PLATE [2 SCOOPS OF MAC SALAD, 1 SCOOP OF RICE] & 2 Spam Musubis. The order was sent via text and shown to the employee to ensure no issues would be made. **see screenshot of text uploaded** We come home and open the box to 2 SCOOPS OF RICE AND 1 SCOOP OF MAC SALAD! While this normally wouldn't be too big of an issue to most people, it is quite a big deal for me since my daughter only eats the mac. While there have been some improvements, employees really need to pay more attention to orders and requests. I would have loved to drive back down there but it was already running into my daughter's dinner schedule. Needless to say, I am quite annoyed!

Came in here on a Monday afternoon and it was not busy at all so service was relatively quick. I wanted to try the kalua pork for the first time since I have not had it yet. What I thought was nice about the service was that you can actually swap your rice for more macaroni salad or with vegetables at no extra cost. I decided to just get their macaroni salad because of how delicious I remember it to be. The pork was really salty though and the pork did not seem like it was tender enough for me. It was rough but at the same time was able to rip apart which didn't make sense for me. If I were to come here again, I would not get the Kaula pork though. Price was around $16 before tax.

Given the short…read moretimeframe and large order size, they delivered everything quickly while serving great quality food. The service was fast, organized and the food was consistently great. If you're looking for a catering food truck for a small lunch window that delivers high quality and very quick service, I HIGHLY recommend Fire and Rice. Their Hawaiian Asian fusion menu is unique and stands out compared to other Asian or poke trucks I've tried. The garlic shoyu chicken and tuna poke were my personal favorites. I tried some of my coworkers garlic shrimp & Miso tofu too...surprisingly pretty GOOD! With inflation being what it is, their food is absolutely worth the price, and they were also flexible and willing to work within our reasonable budget. I can't recommend them enough. For catering inquiries, It was a little difficult getting them on the phone so we played phone tag a lot. I suggest texting or emailing Micah or Jessica for the quickest response, as they're often busy on the truck or during service.

Final Thoughts: 4.33/5…read more They were our caterer for a work party. This is a food truck and they seem to have everything ready to be served to us. Asian fusion foods are typically my go-to choice and so I was very excited that they were providing us food today. Food: Garlic Fried Chicken Bowl: 4.3/5 The sauce on this is divine with the chicken. It's like an unagi sauce with garlic in it. It has some saltiness, sweetness, and that umami flavor. Garlic taste and scent is present, but not too overpowering, which I really enjoyed. That flavor is great, but some places really overdo it for me. Just a personal preference though. For the chicken itself, it's very tender and juicy on the inside and still has some of that nice crunch on the outside. Perhaps this is because the cut of meat is the chicken thigh. It's not super crispy because I don't believe this is being fried to order for us. Seems to be food held in a warmer until its ordered. Kimchi was the side that they had provided with this dish and I am here for that. Some people aren't the biggest fan of this and I saw that from the looks my coworkers gave it. Personally, very much enjoyed it though. That sourness and spice from the kimchi just balances out this bowl really well. The veggies are nice and crispy. Gives it that freshness. Also, very slight detail and addition, but I always enjoy the sesame seeds and furikake sprinkle as a garnish. There's a nice nuttiness to it that they provide as a simple garnish. Spicy Tuna Poké: 4.0/5 This item was alright. The flavor was also really good, but I did get tired of eating just one type of poke protein. Typically when I go to get poke, it's 2 to 3 scoops of different proteins with various sauces to change up the flavor. I did get tired of this one after a few bites. The flavor of this item was very good though. There's a nice kick from it and the flavor tastes like a mix of kewpie mayo, soy sauce, sriracha, and sugar. Very simple, but you can't go wrong with those flavors. For the side, they added seaweed salad. Again, not your average side dish. Personally, I enjoyed it, but it might not be a common or familiar side dish for other individuals. It has a nice sweetness and nuttiness to it. For texture, there's a nice bite to it, which is ncie since the tuna is very soft and doesn't contribute much to the texture component. Menu: Small Their menu seems quite limited, but again, that is normal for a food truck, I believe. The items they provide do it just fine for me. I appreciate that they also have an option for the vegetarians. The menu we were provided was limited to 4 items, which is fine since the scale of this party wasn't anything too wild and we were able to satisfy everyone with what they provided. --------- Quality: Alright The quality of the food seems OK. It came out within a few minutes for us and I don't think it takes just a few minutes to fry that piece of chicken. I could be wrong though, so no one quote me on that. Just an observation. Not the highest expectations because their limited to the space and area in general. The product they provide is very good though. Overall, for something that has raw seafood in it, it seemed quite fresh and tasty. The items aren't made to order either and it's more assemble and serve to order, but again, they seem to be making it work with the product that they are selling. Price: Estimated Because this was a catering event, I am actually unaware of how much my administrator paid for the food. What I know is that she paid for a certain amount of bowls. From the looks of this item though, I want to estimate the price of each bowl being around $16 to $20 depending on the food item provided. Seems quite average for a bowl of food these days. Service: Quick and fast Because most of the food is already prepared and ready, the interaction with them itself is very limited. They took our order and provided us with the food. Nothing too significant to note and that is to be expected with the food truck. They were very sweet though and explained the menu items to be when I had a question. Ambiance: Simple and cute food truck The design on their food truck is so cute. The riceball is my favorite because it has this very cute face and just looks darling to me. The outside has a simple design with the name and logo on top and then perhaps some of the food items they provide written on the bottom section of the truck. Doesn't seem like anything too fancy, but simplicity is best for me. Location/Parking: Wherever they travel and navigate to Because they're a food truck, they can drive to you, which is really convenient. On Yelp, it states that their located on 36 Commercial Street in downtown, which might be where their truck is serving most of the time. Again, it is a food truck though, so they have the ability to drive to you and travel around to their customers, which is quite convenient is reaching a broader group of people.

Interestingly enough the beef was the kind of beef in beef and broccoli, marinated and tenderized with corn starch, instead of the typical Hawaiian bbq beef slices. There was a deceptive amount of meat in this, it's definitely a solid portion. I almost wish there were more potatoes lol. The curry itself was just ok. The plate comes with 2 scoops of rice and 1 scoop of Mac salad for $18. Midly justified. I wish they had a combo curry and or bbq mix curry and not just beef. I miss wikiwiki's hamburg steak curry.
