I've tried quite almost all the Poki Bowl spots in San Jose, and Poki Bowl ( Barryessa Location) is hands down my favorite location. It's honestly the best out of all the locations in the area. One thing I really appreciate is that they still offer yellowtail and albacore. A lot of other poke places have gotten rid of the yellowtail option, so it's a big reason I keep coming back here. Another detail that makes a huge difference is how they prepare everything. They thinly slice the white onions, which adds the perfect flavor without being overpowering, and they cut the fish into perfect bite-size pieces. Other places tend to leave the fish chunks way too big, but here it's just right and makes the bowl so much easier (and better) to eat. Pro tip: ask them to mix the spicy mayo in while they're mixing the other sauces instead of adding it on top. It blends into the bowl and completely elevates the flavor -- total game changer! If you're looking for a great poke bowl in San Jose, I definitely recommend giving this spot a try. read more

Sadly this is the worst Poki Bowl location I've been to. Everything was really bland with so-so quality/freshness. Go to the Almaden location or just go to Poke House. A large bowl with tax is roughly $22 yet contents tiny portions of food and protein. Not enough to consider a meal. Service is fine as I only did online orders for pickup. Stopped here for a quick lunch before heading back to the home office. The shop is small and has very few tables and chairs. It's probably easiest to order for takeout. I chose the three poke combo over fresh green mix. The fish did taste pretty good and had more flavor than other poke joints in the area. TOGO REVIEW: Just came home from Tahoe and wanted a near by place to eat and my friend said let's do Poki Bowl i was like sure! This place is in the plant too! I got my usual ahi tuna, shrimp, and brown rice with the spicy poke sauce, and miso sauce. and i got spam musubi! Looks like they make it fresh too cuz they told us 15 minutes to prep but it was less then 10 minutes. They take CC's which i think is important. This is the second time I have been to this poke shop. The first time I went was at the beginning of the pandemic in February 2020, and this time I came, I was served by the exact same person (I think the owner) and she was very helpful, informing me about the ingredients because of my health condition, and she was very kind. Very allergy friendly and accommodating. This spot serves a regular bowl where you can have a selection of three proteins. I like how a lot of their available proteins are made without sauce (I usually cannot eat sauces for allergy reasons), and you can choose if you want sauce later. There are other poke restaurants that already mix the fish with spicy marinades or sauces, so there are only a few options where the fish is by itself. I feel like the scoop size for the proteins are small, but this place does a great job of providing more than enough toppings. They are extremely generous as well for serving avocado without an extra charge, unlike many other places. The total of my bowl was $18. Maybe I should order a large to get more proteins next time, but overall I like how convenient this place is. There is good service you can always count on. read more

I've been to the other San Jose location in the Plant shopping center off Curtner Ave and enjoyed it, so I decided to try this location to see if it was the same quality. I ordered online through their website and it was super user friendly and easy to checkout. I came in to pickup my order 10 minutes after ordering, and it was ready. I got all salmon for my protein in my bowl, and right off the bat I could tell that the quality of the fish and freshness was not the same, from the color and texture of the salmon. Poke Bowl is one of my favorite poke spots in the Bay Area. You can build your own bowl, medium-large, which determines the scoops of fish you get. You can pick your base - rice (white or brown), greens, or chips, pick your fish, veggies, sauce and then toppings. I got 1/2 rice and 1/2 greens, all salmon, onions and extra cucumbers, spicy sauce, avocado, green onions, furikake, sesame seeds, and sesame dressing. It was bomb!! I like their house sauce. The store is clean. Staff is friendly. They painted a mural on the wall that is such a nice touch to the place. The owner is always super friendly and has thanked us every time we've visited. Many years ago, I had hopped onto the poke bowl trend, so I have tried a range of pokebowls around the world and kind of have a good gauge of what a good pokebowl consists of. At Poki Bowl, the basics are just there. It's nothing extra, nor exciting. You get a standard 4 base to choose from, about 6 types of fish, and under 10 types of toppings if I remember. The flavours are good, fish is fresh. However, 1 scoop of fish here is comparatively tiny. Usually, two scoops of what they give here would = to 1 scoop elsewhere. It is a bit on the pricey side (we got a large for $18+), but this is considered a regular size in many other outlets I've eaten at. They also charge for edamame and seaweed which is meh, as IMO, is not a premium ingredient. The sauces make things better but will explore...:) read more

I was very excited to have a new poké place in the area, so I had to check it out. I believe Poki Bowl is franchise because I'm pretty sure I've been to others in San Jose and the selection and pricing is different. I ordered a regular bowl with 3 scoops of fish. I went with spicy tuna, tuna, and salmon mixed in their medium spice house sauce. I usually get edamame and seaweed salad as part of my bowl but opted to skip those here as they both came at an extra charge (never seen those come at extra cost before...) They also had spam musubi here, so I was super-excited to order that as well. The basic bowl itself was pricier than most poké places and although everything looked delicious, the overall texture and food experience was very average to below average. The rice was extremely mushy and soft - way too much water in its preparation and there was just too much of it. It was such a disappointment because it was also the same rice used for the musubi... Squishy musubi is not happy musubi. The employees were very nice and they kept the place clean. There was no AC however, so it was pretty warm inside and made things a little uncomfortable on a hot day... I really, really, REALLY wanted to like this place, but the rice, the price, and the extra costs of some staple items for my bowl just turned me off. I'd like to give them another shot in a few months after they've had a chance to hopefully make adjustments... hopefully. Fingers crossed. read more

Poki Bowl offers the basic base/fish options like albacore, hamachi, salmon, spicy tuna, octopus and shrimp. Base options like brown rice, sushi rice and salad. Their toppings include my favorite--avocado! Also included in the base price so no extra charge! The crab is still made the best here and tops many other poke places. I was craving poke after a long workweek and didn't want to make the drive to Aloha Fresh. I was greeted with a warm welcome and proceeded to make a delicious regular size bowl with half brown rice and half mixed greens. I opted for salmon, shrimp, and octopus and was given generous scoops of fish along with cucumbers and onions. Loved having first free scoop of crab salad and avocado. Decided to switch it up and come into Poki bowl today after putting it off for so long just passing by. So glad I came in today. Workers were super nice and helpful. It was my first time trying this chain of Poki. Amaya guided me through the ordering process and gave me suggestions along the way. I'll share my order because it was THAT GOOD: half white rice half spring mix, Ahi Tuna, Salmon, And shrimp. Then added both onion and cucumbers. Medium spice level(although I could have gone spicier. Very mild flavor) then added toppings like green onion, avocado, masago, crab, sea weed salad(amazing). I took amayas suggestion and got both drizzles of the salad dressing and the spicy mayo. She was right!! They go so good together. And you can't forget the furikake and sesame seed top. Seafood was fresh and delicious tasJust wayyyy too good. Will definitely be back for more. For sure will have to try the rest of their offerings next time. Probably my favorite poke spot in San Jose. Their fish is fresh af along with the veggies and other items. I've never gotten an upset tummy after eating here and I appreciate that. The owners are a very charming and friendly couple so they make my visits here feel very pleasant and comfortable. It's good, really good and I love that the avocado is no extra charge. But make sure you guys leave your mask on. Twice I've been served by someone who put their mask on right before serving me. Granted, once I started the order they put their mask on, but that thing should be on 24/7 while your working in a food place serving items with the lid off such as the toppings/poke/rice. They first spoke to me and then put the mask on. I had high hopes since this location is closer to me than the one on Almaden. I ordered online which was easy and I ended up arriving 10 minutes before the time frame in the notification I received so I went in hoping I can get it early. The place was empty and my order was bagged up and was just sitting out on some boxes. Just waiting. How long? Who knows. The fish was warm so it must have been longer than it should have been. A couple bites in and I was grossed out. Fish was not fresh and was so warm that my stomach turned. You might think that it was the rice base that warmed it up, but you'd be wrong. They put just a teeny bit of rice and the rest was all wilted greens. I was hoping my spam musubi would save the day...how can you screw that up? I didn't even unwrap it. It looked like it was cooked a week ago then left out in the open to dry out and then was reheated. Generously giving them 2 stars because the avocado was fresh as were the cucumbers, and the imitation crab wasn't too bad. That's about all I ate before giving up. read more
