Hole in the wall poké place. Fresh poké available. Delicious and fresh. Service was quick. The only downside is the parking availability since it shares a very small lot with an apartment complex and another small shop. Some are reserved for each shop. Street parking is also limited since the store is located along a busy main street.

I've tried quite a few poke spots around the Bay Area, and the quality of the fish here in Hawaii definitely stands out. - The spicy ahi was easily my favorite. It had great flavor without overpowering the freshness of the fish. - The wasabi ahi was also good, but be prepared for a strong wasabi kick that definitely clears your sinuses. - I also tried the Hawaiian ahi, which was a little too mild for my taste. - The miso tako ended up being my least favorite because it leaned much sweeter than I expected. Next time I'd probably go with the shoyu instead since I was looking for a bit more flavor. One thing they absolutely get right is the fish itself. It's incredibly fresh, buttery, and almost melt in your mouth tender. Compared to other well-known poke spots, I actually preferred the quality and flavor of the fish here. The only reason I'm taking off one star is the rice. They use regular jasmine rice, and I really think sushi rice would make a huge difference. Since poke is essentially fish and rice, the rice should complement the fish instead of feeling like an afterthought. Service was quick and straightforward. You tell them what you want, they build your bowl, you pay, and you're on your way. The shop itself is very small with no indoor seating, just a couple of outdoor tables, so I'd consider this more of a grab-and-go spot than a place to dine in. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the freshness of the fish alone. With sushi rice, this place would be even better.

Best part of Ono Seafood is the gelato they sell for Il Gelato. The poke is not as great.

Not the freshest poke if I'm being honest. They must capitalize on being the only poke spot for miles because I don't understand how they have 4+ stars. The portions were small. I missed the photo op but there was nothing captivating. The spicy sauce on the spicy salmon couldn't cover up the gamey taste. Same goes for the miso ahi, but it was slightly better than the salmon. The poke wasn't cut consistently, had some stringy pieces, and wasn't cold enough either. It seemed like it had been saturated for a while, too slimy. Plastic or styrofoam bowls would definitely help with the presentation. They're currently charging $20 for poke bowls served in a mini plate lunch container filled with mostly rice. The best part of the trip was the gelato. It's not theirs, they are vendors for Il Gelato. The dragonfruit and mango lilikoi combo made up for the mediocre poke. I would return for the gelato.

My boyfriend and I wanted to eat a good poke bowl so we made a stop at Ono Seafood on our way into Waikiki. There are only a couple stalls in the front of the store so parking is not the greatest. Before you enter there are a few tables that you can sit and eat your food. Inside, it's pretty small so I can imagine if it gets busy the line can go out the door. Although, the line moved fast and they seemed to be very efficient. You can look at the menu board while you're waiting so you can decide what you want. They have all the poke choices on there and sometimes have specials posted on the glass where you order. I got the Hawaiian style and miso tako. I was hoping the Hawaiian style had a little more taste, but otherwise still good. The miso tako was my favorite! Yummmmm. My boyfriend got the Shoyu poke and spicy tako. His shoyu was really tasty! The only part I didn't care for so much was the long grain rice because it was just a tad bit dry. Otherwise, everything was good. I've tried their poke before when someone brought it to a get together but this was the first time I've made a stop here. Nice staff and very efficient + Ono poke!

Good poke and solid prices. Small lot and small eating area outside. Loved the tuna here

This was the most fresh seafood I've had in Hawaii. The texture of the fish was so delicious. I tore this bowl up in mere minutes, it didn't stand a chance against me.

Good option to put on the list for poke bowl besides F**dlands and I will give Ono higher score for the freshness! Price wise it's also decent and ordering process is swift. They occasionally offer salmon as well! Obviously the dining ambiance is prolly the downside as it's a simple outdoor patio in front of the venue, but hey it does the job! We got their combo of Wasabi Ahi and Spicy Salmon, both of which we really love. I might like the sauce from the other well known place tad better, but would say this one was certainly delectable!

I dropped by this small poke place near Leonard's and got a poke bowl. I got half shoyu ahi and half spicy ahi. The fish was so fresh and melted in your mouth. I love the combination of the spicy mayo and tempura flakes that came with it. There are no tables inside but there is some outdoor seating.

We visiting their food truck at the Kaka'ako Farmers Market. There was no line around 1pm and service was fast. The fish was good, but didn't taste much different from the other poke i've tried on the island. The poke to rice ratio was off though, I wished there was more poke.

What? I can't believe I haven't reviewed this iconic poke spot. Indeed their fish was amazing - fresh and smooth, and their seasoning for the poke was spot on. However I can't give them 5 stars coz I think it's overpriced for what it is. Plus the rice was so undercooked I ended up feeding half of my rice to the birds. It's dry like bird food. I'd recommend ordering the poke by the lb and take it home to eat with some good Japanese rice. Also, no line for lunchtime on a Saturday in February!

So glad I finally got to try Ono Seafood! I got the salmon and ahi poke and really enjoyed both. The fish was super fresh and the sauce was flavorful. The rice wasn't the freshest, but honestly the fish quality more than made up for it. Portion sizes are big, and everything comes out super quick. It's more of a grab-and-go spot, but there are a few tables if you want to sit and eat. Overall, really solid poke. Can't wait to come back!

Ono Seafood and it was hands down the best poke I had on the island. The fish was insanely fresh like it literally melted in your mouth and had that buttery texture that you can't fake. I got the spicy ahi and my friend got the shoyu ahi, and both were so flavorful and perfectly seasoned. It is a little on the pricier side, but honestly it was 100% worth it I finished every single bite. Everything is made fresh and comes out super fast, and the owners were so nice (they even let me sample the spicy ahi first to make sure I liked it). Definitely one of those spots I'd go back to ASAP and recommend to everyone.

Shoyu ahi and Hawaiian style tako combo poke bowl - IG @bougiefoodieboi
    Kyle W.

Honestly overhyped. This is one of the most popular poke spots out in Honolulu and is usually one that friends visiting recommend. However, it is still delicious but it is a bit overpriced for the portion size. We went around 10am on a Saturday and it was not busy, but people started trickling in right after we got our food. The seating is mostly outside, or you can enjoy takeout elsewhere as everything is served in a takeout container. We got the shoyu ahi (tuna) and Hawaiian style tako (squid) combination which was $17+tax. As most of my poke experiences are previously frozen, I could taste the quality difference - the fish is much smoother and melt in your mouth texture. The marination is on point. However, they gave a disproportionate amount of rice to compensate for a less generous amount of poke (comparing it to other people's photos) so we ended up having to toss half a container of rice when we finished the meal. The rice was also quite undercooked so it did not blend well with the poke.

I'm somewhat let down by the rice and fish quality. The rice isn't the usual sushi rice they serve, and the fish is different as well.

The fish itself is always great quality; the flavor is always fresh despite the texture sometimes (rarely) having some tough parts. The prices are reasonable too, though I usually prefer ordering 1/2 or 1/4 pound of poke along with another side dish instead of a poke bowl. They have great sides like the Fish Patty Musubi or Inari Sushi, but I really hope they bring back the Grilled Musubi soon!!! Although the shop itself is very small and can get crowded quickly, the staff are always super friendly and efficient. As you can probably tell, I have nothing but love for Ali'i and would recommend them for any fan of poke!

Felt unwelcoming and like we were annoying her by being there. The poke was good, the kalbi was disappointing. It was small and flavor was kind of bland. There is a little bit of indoor seating if you can get it.

I had to taste the poke to believe all the hype around it and OMG, the 5 star reviews are deserved!…read more This poké is amazing in a sense that the sauces are amazing and handmade (and it shows) and the fish is so fresh, even at the end of the night! I love the options of poke bowl, poke nachos, and poke by the pound. I do recommend skipping the rice bowl and just buying them by the pound and that way you just get the full essence of just the fish and the taste! Service was fast and I loved how this place was conveniently located inside the Ilikai hotel, where I'm staying because it's just an elevator ride away but also great for anyone not staging at the hotel and walking by since it's right around the corner from the front entrance.

Typically, I like a salad base. I forgot to say earlier because they had already stacked my bowl with the sushi rice base, but I asked the cashier if I could get a salad base with unagi side sauce instead. They were accepting and said they could stack the salad on top. I didn't get the unagi sauce in the moment, but I wasn't upset either because I enjoy salad without sauce too. To my shock, they remembered I asked, found us, and brought it out to our table! 20/10 service, 20/10 poke
