I work in the area and never stopped by until recently and even though the menu is limited, every meal I've gotten is always seasoned to perfection. I've always had my food to go and meal sizes are well-portioned and I have a large appetite. Food takes around 10 minutes minimum but it's worth the wait. I am so grateful that this place opened up in Anacostia. I frequent here quite a bit and the food is so delicious. It's clearly made with love. As a Nigerian who lives in Anacostia, I appreciate being able to support a West African family business. I always call in since the food is made to order and pick it up. I have gotten the chicken sandwich (very good!), beef patty (love!), and most often, I eat the goat and/or vegetable stew with pounded yam -- also very very good. The meat is so soft and tasty. The restaurant itself is intimate and cute, though I live close enough to just take the food back home. I have only met the two brothers that are often there and they are both friendly + clearly working hard. I strongly recommend giving this establishment a try! read more

Food is made fresh as you order and it shows in how delicious the food is. They loose one star because both staff and patrons were maskless. This was the worst food experience in the DC area. I did an order at 6:15pm and didn't get my food until 9:45pm after the restaurant was closed. Everything I ordered was cold and very unappealing. There was no way for me to contact the restaurant since they were closed. I was so excited to support a new spot in SE and not far from my home. I am sure that the leadership of Ope. So I hate to admit it but i had this spot twice in one day! First I had lunch and ordered the fish sandwich! The fist was perfectly battered and flaky. The homemade tarter and the fresh veggies on the sandwich was an added bonus. The second meal of the say was the jerk bbq salmon with the side of mac and cheese. Wow!! I was walking to 7 eleven and I saw this place. Decided to stop in and order a sandwich. I ordered the shrimp wrap cost me $10. I am so disappointed....my wrap literally had 6 small shrimp not even the jumbo shrimp and a little tomato and lettuce and red onion. It wasn't even stuffed with veggies...and to top it off a big burrito tortilla wrap was used. The shrimp tasted good but to really taste it I had to eat them without all that tortilla. This spot satisfied my palates desire for some fish, and also surprised me with some West African delicacy!! Located at 1243 Good Hope Rd., S.E.Washington D.C. Open Crumb is a refreshing site. Their menu is simple, diverse, and super affordable all at the same time!! Their entrees include a $10 Spinach stew( sautéed spinach in a tomato curry with Jollof rice or plantains, their Roasted ginger curry salmon for $18 (served with rice or spinach stew), and their Goat Stew for $15 ( stewed goat on a tomato curry served with a choice o two sides). I copped their Chicken Stew with Jollof rice. This meal was plentiful, flavorful, and reasonably priced at $11bucks!! The Jollof and chicken were definitely delicious, however, this meal was more mild than spicy, and I like my West African food spicy. It wasn't until later that dug into the bag, and found a container with the spicy tomato curry option...it was nice and spicy too!! Among their Chicken, Salmon, and Shrimp sandwiches, snatched their fried fish sandwich (pictured $7.50 with homemade tarter lettuce, tomato, mixed greens, onions on Brioche bread). Get this sandwich!! It was topped with 2 pieces of fried whiting, savory tartar sauces, on that Brioche bun...EVERYTHING!! They have sides like Mac n cheese, fries, Wakye (Ghanaian rice and black eyed peas), cookies, and Kale. I got their bread pudding. I wasn't a traditional styled bread pudding...it looked like soaked French toast bread, deep fried. It was definitely tasty. Customer service was on point, and parking was so so. My daughter and I stumbled on this place after going to Mahogany Books, and I'm so happy we found it! We were quickly greeted and ordered our food, and we waited at one of the tables for about 15 minutes while they cooked our order. We love this place! after checking out the fried chicken sandwich, red red, macaroni and cheese and fried shrimp, we became complete fans. Then, when we had a few family and a friend over and were looking to feed the crowd (of five...it is a pandemic after all) i just ordered for everyone without asking what they wanted. Whoever answered the phone was VERY RUDE and unenthusiastic ab answering the phone for the greater good of the business! I asked him how he was doing and he didn't respond and as I was trying to inform him that I would call back when I confirmed what my daughter wanted, he hung up before I could get the complete sentence out without so much as a bye. Always my pleasure to support black-owned businesses! Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and, once I entered, I immediately recognized the restaurant. It used to be a crab spot. Now it's a restaurant with a tasty mix of sandwiches, West African food & cookies. I dig it...sandwiches for the less adventurous & everyone loves cookies! I deducted a star because they didn't have cookies that day I ordered the fried fish sandwich & chicken stew meal with jollof rice and stewed spinach. Was able to take a quick walk around outside with my baby while my order was being prepared. The fish sandwich was delicious & I loved the creamy homemade tartar sauce. Would order again! The chicken stew portion was big enough for two full servings. It was great. I don't go to war over which West African country makes the best jollof rice, but there's was so-so, but with the spinach stew, I loved it. Especially liked the side of hot pepper sauce/paste, it was spicy! My family wants to try their food when they're in town soon. So, I'll be back. Please have some cookies! read more

This place is a gem! I had their crab cake sandwich with their milk buns, and it was delicious. I should have bought extra milk buns because they are amazing and so soft with a hint of sweetness. I also had their plantains which were not greasy and tasted so good! I ordered the chicken sandwich combo and a chocolate chip cookie on my lunch break the other day. Seemed like staff was still figuring out their system but were super nice. You can tell its a small family run space. Food was made to order so it took some time but not too long. WAS WORTH THE WAIT. The fried chicken was so crispy and juicy on the inside.
