I am writing to share some feedback regarding our recent dinner visit to the restaurant. While we enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere, we found the volume of the televisions showing various programs to be a bit loud for the space. Regarding our meal, we ordered two plates of the Pad Thai with tofu. We found the Pad Thai itself to be delicious and perfectly seasoned; however, the tofu in both dishes was unfortunately very hard and chewy. Because our server did not return to the table in a timely fashion to check on us, we simply set the tofu aside and finished the rest of the meal. I wanted to bring this to your attention as we truly enjoyed the flavors of the dish and would appreciate a more consistent experience. read more

I had this place a couple weeks ago on my lunch break and I ordered spicy shrimp and lo mein and it was delicious! Yesterday I was under the weather and I ordered the same thing but also added a soup. My soup was delicious but later that night I went to dig into my shrimp and it was chicken! I'm pescatarian and don't eat chicken. I called and the lady told me to bring the food back! It's already in the trash being it's the next day! Finally!! I've found my go to Chinese spot. I've tried several in the area and they were all a flop - not here.    We ordered carryout, and it took a little while, but it was worth it. Everything was piping burn your tongue hot. The prices were reasonable for the portion, and we received good service. This was only my first time here, so I can't speak to consistency yet, but I'll be back for sure!   My personal faves were the steamed dumplings, lo mein, and combination fried rice. read more

Was across the street at the hotel and didn't want fast food...found this place. Got the chicken Pad Thai and an egg roll. My order must have weight two pounds...load of food...and damn good. Did find a piece of tofu in my noodles...not a fan or tofu but not a deal breaker. Noodles had just the right amount of spice and a hint of citrus...well done. OpenRice for the win! I love this place been coming to it since 2014 when I first moved up here and hasn't let me down yet. Called in my order and told the employee what I wanted. He said ok gave me the price and a time frame. As soon as I hung up, I noticed that he didn't ask for my name, so I called back, and he said he didn't need it I could just come in and ask for my order. My friend and I were craving Chinese food and decided to give OpenRice Asian Bistro a try since it was nearby. We ordered the family combo, and I went with the kung pao chicken with white rice. The dish was okay, but nothing special. The eggroll was fine too, but overall, everything was decent--not amazing. Editing my earlier 4-star review: This is our go-to restaurant for Chinese food, hands down. The ingredients are always the freshest, the flavors are rich and delicious, nothing too greasy, no fat on the beef, the vegetables are crisp and colorful, the sauce is JUST the right amount...I could go on and on. The Mongolian Beef is my favorite (so many onions, so much joy), followed closely by the Broccoli Beef and General Tso's chicken. My husband's go-to is the Kung Pao chicken which is loaded with crunchy vegetables. Even the fried rice is tastier than before! I only wish they were open on Sundays, but it is absolutely worth the wait and worth the trip if you don't live nearby. read more

I ordered a chicken pad Thai and it was 95% dry noodles with a wet rag smell/flavor. I don't know how they cook their chicken but it's like chewy fried chicken. I'm no expert but I've never had a chicken pad Thai that was loaded with tofu and even egg? First time to try Open Rice and ithe food is really good. I ordered Szechuan beef and requested it to be made extra spicy. Unfortunately it was not as spicy as I would like but it was still good and the vegetables were crisp and had good flavor. I was hoping that the Szechuan would have had whole red peppers to make it spicier but other then that it was good. My daughter had the Sesame seed chicken which was really good and full of flavor. We also ordered spring rolls and crab rangoons which were pretty good. My son ordered Mongolia beef and it was extremely good and I would like to try it on our next visit. My daughter in law ordered the General Tso and it was very sweet and had great flavor also. We all ordered steamed dumplings and fried which were very good. Overall the experience was great and the employees were very nice. The restaurant was not allowing dine in due to Covid but the restaurant was very clean. The food portions are very good, and their prices are even better. That said, I did think the food was a bit of a let down, described below: I tried a couple of dishes including the Hunan style chicken with white rice and also the chicken fried rice. For the first dish, I though the rice was a bit too chewy, like it hadn't been cooked through enough. The chicken was cooked well, but there wasn't enough sauce! I had to use soy sauce to hold me over. The fried rice portion was very generous, it can easily feed two. My issues with it were that the rice was too oily. I mean I know it's fried rice for goodness sake, but it doesn't always necessarily have to come glimmering with slicks of oil. The flavor was very good, the chicken was cooked well. Overall, a decent place to get your Chinese fix especially if you want an affordable, filling and fast meal. The ambiance: I think most people order to go. It's very small with a few tables and metal chairs. My husband and another guest saw a huge water bug on the floor. The service: prompt The food: first you should notice there are two sizes offered. We did not realize this and we ordered one sesame chicken and one orange chicken. Since we didn't know to specify size, we got large sizes and they were huge and it cost $30! They were swimming in sauce. The first few bites were pretty good. After that I wished I would have known and ordered light sauce. My husband insisted we take leftovers home as he wasn't wasting all this money. I knew I wasn't interested. If I got this to go or it had been based just on the food I'd give 4.5 stars....but I ate there. The restaurant is incredibly dirty. Not like just had a rush of people and tables needed cleaned, but someone get a scrub brush and some bleach dirty. The floors are pretty gross. Walls are dirty. Area where sodas dirty. I'm just gonna pretend to myself the kitchen is the one clean spot in here since the food was good and I decided to go ahead and eat because I was starving.... But honestly I almost didn't stay. As a weary business traveler always looking for decent food options, OpenRice Asian Bistro was a great find! The food was delicious and made to order (a veggie substitute). The Kung Pao combo was very tasty though I must admit I'm not a fan of, or have every gotten, breaded shrimp in a sauced dish. I ordered medium heat and should have gone hotter. If you're accustomed to spicy foods, go up a level or two on this. The egg drop soup was very good and without any clumpy gooey sauce one often finds. Perfectly executed. The crispy chicken dumplings were good as well though I expect they would be better warmed in a hot oven or air fryer. Unfortunately for me that's not a luxury a hotel resident can pull off. All in all if this were a local regular takeout place, I'd certainly order again, perhaps with a few special requests. I was born in Japan and used to live in Taiwan and Japan, have traveled the mainland of China for weeks. My order was Sichuan chicken, I like spicy food, also I took brown rice instead of fried rice. My impression was the flavor lack of depth and spiciness. I was expecting more spicy (maybe they can adjust, but no options provided) , but not spicy. Okay, it was not a big deal though Sichuan flavor should be spicy (off course, not all Sichuan food is spicy). But, I couldn't rate 4 or 5 stars if the lack of the depth in flavor is there. Maybe oyster sauce, soy sauce or doubangjian (spicy bean paste) was not enough, I don't know. This menu was not oily, so this is a good point.
