I had a much better experience with Alton, the tech who came out to see why I was being dropped by my internet. He spent 70 minutes here checking my connection out by my mailbox. The last tech, a year ago, either didn't go near that connection or spent little time there. Alton sent in an order for service at that "box". He said that I might lose connection until an Optimum truck fixes whatever needs repair at that location for my internet. Alton thoroughly explained everything. He also assisted me accessing my Firestick which hadn't worked since the prior tech guy replaced my modem Spring of 2025. Alton was professional, informative, respectful. This was on the phone with customer service. I have had my children with Optimum Mobile for about a year now, and honestly, the service has barely worked the entire time. One of the phones never functioned correctly, even after multiple calls trying to get the issue fixed. Every interaction with this company feels like a battle, but today completely pushed me over the edge. My first child decided to switch carriers because the cost suddenly doubled when they tried moving their account into their own name. Surprisingly, that process was simple. The representative was polite, didn't pressure them to stay, and they walked into T-Mobile and got a new number immediately for only $15 with zero issues. Now came the nightmare. My other child wanted to keep their phone number, which meant we needed a transfer PIN. Sounds simple, right? Absolutely not. I spent 35 minutes on the phone being constantly placed on hold while the representative repeatedly claimed she had already sent the transfer PIN by email and text message. Guess what? Nothing ever arrived. Then, instead of fixing the issue, she started trying to sell me on staying with Optimum by offering 50% off for six months. I explained multiple times that I already have their internet service and it is just as terrible as the mobile service, so there was absolutely no interest in staying. Meanwhile, my child was sitting at the new carrier waiting for this transfer code the entire time. The representative kept coming back saying, "I'm still working on it," over and over again. She even asked if she could call me back if disconnected. I said yes. I also explained I had somewhere important to be by 7 PM and begged her to hurry. Instead, she kept me tied up until the department closed. Then she called me back TWICE, and both times, the second I answered, she hung up on me. By then, customer service was closed, so there was no way to call back or resolve anything. The lack of customer service is beyond unacceptable -- it's infuriating. Customers should not have to waste this much time and energy just trying to complete a basic transfer request. It honestly feels like they intentionally drag the process out to make people give up on leaving. After this experience, I will absolutely be looking for another internet provider as well because I am done giving money to a company that treats customers like this. I don't get paid to sit on hold for nearly an hour dealing with incompetence. If anything, I should be refunded for the time and stress this company caused. They get people in the door on promotions and then jack their prices up every year. While the Internet service is adequate, be aware that they doubled the price of our service after the first couple of months. Also, they have truly terrible customer service by phone. When we asked to speak with a supervisor, he refused repeatedly and instead chose to argue with us, question our reasons, and act like we were doing something wrong. When we pushed back, he hung up on us -- TWICE. Then he called back, not to help, but to continue being combative and STILL would not cancel the service or escalate the call. The disrespect and arrogance were unbelievable. This isn't just bad customer service -- it's deliberate obstruction and completely unacceptable behavior. It felt like we were being held hostage by Optimum, just so they could charge us for another billing cycle. If you're considering Optimum, don't. To make things worse, I finally had to schedule a service tech today to fix an issue after upgrading to a higher speed. All I wanted to do was order a range extender and the sales agent insisted, if I increase my internet speed at an additional charge it would solve my issue. If it didn't I could call back to remove it she said. Well, I've been on the phone with them for 2 hours trying to get my service back the way it was and they have transferred me so many times. I eventually hung up because no one answered. To make matters worse I got hung up on twice when asking to speak to a supervisor. They never took the auto and I was told that I was supposed to make manual payments for a few months which is the antithesis of automatic. I have an email confirmation of signing up for auto and it says nothing about continuing manual payments. After multiple hour long calls to customer service, I was promised a gift card that never showed up. After being promised 10 times that my issue was resolved I was disappointed every time. Unfortunately in our area, it's either suddenlink or have a dish strapped to the front of our house. After a year, Dish here I come. Today a tech was scheduled between 11am and 2pm. We have been on the phone attempting to do something very simple... confirm our appointment as we have no confidence. Of course its 2:40 and the tech was a no show. Back on the phone to hold another 45 minutes. Always "longer than normal" hold times, regardless of time called. Prompts lead you to no where. Customer service is anything but friendly. And dont even attempt to "press 2 to get a call back when it's your turn" you'll never hear from them and have wasted that time. Paying for service we aren't getting. This company is not truthful or forthcoming with information to customers. We decided to try suddenlink cable, and got what we thought was a great deal. Within a few days we knew suddenlink would not work for us but decided to eak it out for the month. We set a date for shut off and they failed to shut it off. then we got the bill because we started mid month they charged us for a full month plus a half month, at full price not the monthly deal we signed up for. This was not disclosed to us at the time we signed up, because Lord knows we would have waited for the begining of the billing cycle. Also we pay for 400mbps and what we get is 88mbps download and 25mbps upload, their answer I'm sorry there is nothing we can do about that.
