On our last trip we visited here multiple times, it's that good! So many options to choose from but the coconut is to die for. I honestly wish I could get this closer to home. Others in our group had different options and enjoyed them as well. Great service and wonderful ice cream!

Stopped in for a quick sweet treat. I was hoping for pistachio but they didn't have any this day. We got chocolate and cotton candy ice cream. It was good, although the chocolate was a little grainy. It's not cheapest place for ice cream but conveniently located near the beach. The service was good and plenty of places to sit indoors to enjoy on a super hot day. The art work was great, the kids loved it. Definitely worth a visit!

Many locals told us to take our little one to get ice cream at Orange Octopus. Their recommendation did not disappoint! Thankfully they were open late so we were able to eat dinner elsewhere and venture over to this gem. Toasted Coconut and Mint Chocolate Chip were VERY good.

Good spot! Visited this ice cream spot with family. The spot is small but has some indoor seating. The staff was friendly and happy to provide samples as needed! I got the Kentucky Honey Bourbon and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream in a waffle cone. The ice cream was creamy and both choices were good with very subtle and smooth flavors. Unfortunately the waffle cones were stale. Hopefully the cone I got was just not the best batch. I would definitely re-visit and try some other flavors!

Orange Octopus has been hiding from me for a long time. I can't even believe it. The sign caught my eye this time by Captain Curt's Oyster and Tiki Bar. We always go to Turtle Beach not Siesta Key. It's Quieter and the walk is way shorter and it finally caught my attention. This ice cream is local and home made and amazing. I promise I don't say that for all ice cream. I had the key lime pie with coconut and coconut topping. So perfect!! My husband had the sea salt caramel and strawberry cheesecake. They were exactly as they say they were. The orange octopus theme is the cutest. Love love love this spot now every time we go back to Turtle Beach!

Loved this place! Took my girls here after a hot beach day and it totally hit the spot. The inside of the shop was really clean and we loved the minimalist design. The ice cream was phenomenal-- I got the key lime, hubby got the Kentucky honey bourbon, and the girls got the Superman and the chocolate. Super creamy and not overly sweet. Will come here every time we're in town!

Speaking as someone who has tried nearly every ice cream store in Siesta Key... Orange Octopus is a strong contender for #1. I prefer a softer, creamier texture when it comes to ice cream and this place got it perfect. The chocolate peanut is amazing and I will be returning solely for this flavor. The dutch chocolate flavor is great for a dark chocolate lover. It is not a super sweet flavor which makes it a nice compliment to balance out another flavor. FYI: They don't split a single scoop here :( BUT you can have two flavors if you get a double scoop :)

Man this place deserves every star I can give it. It was a little hard to find. It's located in a strip mall next to Siesta Key bike & kayak. Parking is limited right in front of the businesses in strip. I was greeted soon as I came in and the young man asked I if I'd like to try any flavors. I tried 4 and they were all so delicious. The server helped me decide on Kentucky Honey Bourbon and Sea Salt Caramel. Man oh man I really enjoyed my waffle cone. The Ice cream was so creamy and had the best consistency. The waffle cone was fresh as well. The shop has seating inside and a couple benches ouut front so you can sit and enjoy your ice cream. As others have mentioned you get a nice sized scoop so if you did a cup you might be able to share 2 scoops. Highly satisfied with this establishment.

I lost count of the number of times we had ice cream here during our weeklong vacation in Siesta Key. My boo and I loved it. Clearly couldn't get enough and it was walking distance from where we were staying. My favorite flavors were the chocolate flavors. The brownie one was amazing. Chocolate hazelnut was so divine. My boo loved the coconut and cookie dough. It was all just soooooo good! We wanted t-shirts but they didn't have XXLs even though the sign indicated they did. So instead we just ate more ice cream. The parking lot here is chaotic, make sure you turn in the right driveway because I think it's a one-way. Also, the seating is only okay. One night, it was so crowded we sat across the plaza. Definitely enjoy some treats from here. Nothing beats ice cream on a hot summer night. read more

Had a 2 scoop waffle cone tonight. First flavor was cookie dough. Has absolutely no cookie dough in it. Not one little piece. It was just vanilla ice cream. The second flavor was toasted coconut. It had a hint of coconut flavor but no coconut in it. Both scoops were basically vanilla ice cream. The scoops were very small too. The girl scooping had a hard time scooping the cookie dough because it was so hard. Very disappointing. Find yourself a different ice cream joint or try gelato up the road. read more

Great Ice Cream! Very smooth! We tried the strawberry cheesecake in a waffle cone and a chocolate malt and both yummy! They were making the waffle cones right in front of us so they were fresh. This place was within walking distance of our hotel, but we still would have gone there every night even if we had to drive there. It was just that good! The line was always out the door just after sunset, but it was always worth the wait! Staff is super friendly, and there were plenty of both classic and interesting flavors to choose from. read more

Lick fast! You don't want to miss one drip of their amazing ice cream! We went yesterday with the family and grandparents while on vacation in Siesta Key and each got a different flavor. There wasn't one I didn't like. My favorite was their Butterscotch with chocolate dipped pretzels and brownie bites! Cookies and cream was a big hit as well! The benches out front provided a nice shady area with a breeze. We'll definitely be back to try the rest of the flavors on our next visit to Siesta Keys. read more

Warm Sarasota weather dictates ice cream. Easy to understand...right? If not, please head over to The Orange Octopus and you will know what I mean. Some of the best ice cream is found here--and trust me; we have had (as a family) our fair share of ice cream. Here is what we ordered and regardless of your preferences, each one of these was amazing. Key lime, Coffee, Sea Salt Caramel, and Strawberry Cheesecake. OMG and yum all the way around. We decide to get cones and double scoops as well--yes, pure happiness. Each one was so good and creamy and worth every calorie. The staff is so friendly and sweet- young kids filling our cones. We had to wait a little longer than preferred--but I get it as it is so good and everyone wants some. One of our new favorites in the Sarasota area. read more

I've got to say this is my all time favorite Ice Cream Shop!!! The flavor tastes like the "real" flavor it is named rather than a fake synthetic taste like most ice creams have. The consistency is perfect! You can tell it is freshly made with whole real ingredients!!! I wish there was one back home in Pennsylvania! (My favorite flavors so far are Honey Bourbon, (I know it seems weird, huh?!?!) Toasted Coconut, & Mint Chocolate Chip! Honestly they're the only ones I've tried so far and I love them so much I'm having trouble branching out to try other flavors!!! read more

Flipping love his place! The first night I had the Key Lime Pie seriously hit the nail on the head. It was so delicious. Ok so I was dreaming about icecream from The Orange Octopus all day. We had to go again This time one scoop of the Kentucky bourbon with the second scoop of butter pecan. Imagine Homer Simpson when he drinks his Duff beer. that was me! If you are in the area and love sweets as much as I do. Go get a scoop and make your day that much brighter. read more

My family loves this place. Unique flavors and the best quality, homemade ice cream around. There sundaes are a bit underwhelming, but their servings are generous and its more fun to mix flavors. I had the peanut butter and jelly (yes they have real peanut butter and jelly in it) and cookies and creak (again, yes real and big chunks of oreo). Skip the tourist trap ice cream stops as this is a bit hidden and not always as busy. But we pass the others and come here for a reason. read more

I just went to the Orange Octopus about a half hour ago and I got one scoop of lemon sorbet and one scoop of the Dutch chocolate. It was amazing! They had it ready within a minute. This place has got some delicious ice cream!! Orange Octopus is not too far from Sarasota Beach which is where I was when I was craving some good ice cream. Decided to check this place out bc of all the amazing reviews and it did not disappoint! I had such a hard time choosing which flavors to get bc everything was so good! You can tell they use real ingredients especially for their banana and strawberry flavors. The sea salt caramel is absolutely delicious as well as pretty much every flavor if I'm quite honest. I ended up getting banana, coffee, and strawberry but seriously was considering between sea salt caramel & butterscotch as well. Their waffle cones are homemade! The store is a pretty good size and the decor is super cute! The staff was beyond friendly, helpful, and didn't rush me at all. Oh and the bathrooms are clean :) If you're in the area definitely check it out, this place is legit! read more

She was so warm with the kids and let us sample just about every flavor, which made the whole experience feel really personal. The ice cream itself is fantastic--creative flavors, but also genuinely delicious. You can taste the homemade quality in every bite. I had coconut and dark chocolate, the kids had vanilla, dark chocolate, and watermelon mint, and my husband also really enjoyed his choices (though I can't remember exactly what he picked). Overall, it was just a really pleasant stop with great ice cream and exceptional service. It's also right next to Origin Pizza, which is another spot we'd definitely recommend.

We searched online using sources like yelp to find a place with great reviews and a place near the beach. Orange octopus ice cream came up. Our commute time from one place to the other was only 7 minutes. We get there and parking was dreadful. Parking space is slim to none. The timing worked out in our favor. The young folks did a good job welcoming us in with greetings. The space is narrow and intimate. They helped us order and gave us samples of flavors to try (upon request). They all were very patient with our group of 3 adults and 3 children. The restroom is kept nice and pristine. Since there's no indoor seating, we sat outside their patio area, sat and enjoyed our treats. If in the area again, we be delighted to go back.

8/10 good stuff…read more eaten here a ton as it's a very short distance to travel. service is nice, they show you their process of making the ice cream itself which is a unique feature. their brand of nitrogen ice cream is very novel among ice cream places located in sarasota and its quite good, as it has a very wide selection of flavors, toppings, and even bases. the ice cream itself is delicious as well. only real complaint is that due to it being flash frozen it has quite the "icy" feel; it's akin to getting your tongue stuck to a metal pole in the northern winter. this is really just a nitpick on my part however and i do recommend trying this establishment if you can.
