Creative, reliable, affordable! I've known Lucas for ages and watched him evolve into the successful businessman he is today. I took a job on the east coast and had to rent my house in Mar Vista within a short 2 months, and hired Orchard Landscaping to update my backyard. I needed to have lighting and sprinkler repairs, as well as plant replacement in my xeriscape yard. Lucas and Mike have great artistic eyes, and a incredible knowledge of plants, their required maintenance, and resilience. They picked interesting, attractive, low maintenance plants, repaired the lighting and plumbing (including a small fountain), tamed the existing bamboo, trimmed an out-of-control eucalyptus tree, refinished and sealed my redwood deck, and hauled away every last piece of rubbish. They did all of this within my budget, and in a time crunch. Lucas has a tremendous knowledge of household repairs, and is able to solve/fix problems when he has time (my garage door!). When he doesn't have resources for those extra repairs, he has referrals. For a single woman owning a house, it's nice to be referred by someone you trust and Lucas is that someone. I now live 3000 miles from the house I own and I can count on Orchard Landscaping to handle anything that needs doing. I've given my tenant the phone number to Orchard Landscaping because I trust Lucas to handle any repairs/upkeep. Recently the tenant contacted Lucas about replacing some plants. Lucas recommended to me some plants that would be more hardy, and less expensive than the ones being replaced, and made it all happen in a week. I can't say enough about Orchard Landscaping. Friendly, knowledgable, efficient and overall AMAZING! Thanks to Lucas I now have a BEAUTIFUL AND PLENTIFUL vegetable garden equipped with an Eco Friendly Irrigation system. I discovered Lucas, Micheal, and the crew at Orchard Design when they did a really nice job on my friends Sue's house. I had no idea how good they were until we started working together. I had ideas for a drought resistant yard but not much else. They turned my simple home in Van Nuys into the house that everyone stops and asks about. The minimalistic fence, as well as the idea to clad my concrete porch and wrought iron gates with Redwood to warm up the curb appeal, came from them. My side yard, is so cool now. That Redwood bench in back (also their idea) gets a lot of use. Their lighting design ideas, were simple, tasteful, and the perfect finishing touch. On top of this, they showed up when they said they would, the site was always tidy when they left, each part of the project was finished on, or before the estimated dates. I felt that each member of their crew, were all too notch. Phone calls were returned promptly. I was always kept in the loop with progress, or new ideas, and...also just as important there were no surprises when the at the end the final bill. We came in on budget, and on time. We knew we wanted a succulent-focused front yard for ages before finally getting a referral to the team at Orchard Landscaping. We wanted to be sure that it was low-maintenance, because we've yet to find a weekly gardener that will do decent weeding. Good design was a necessity too, because we know what we like, we don't have the ability to do it on our own. In the introductory and planning stages Michael was frequently in contact with us, in person, or by phone, text or email. There was never a problem getting in touch with him. We also got as much time as needed with the designer who was there for installation too, to do final placement of the items. Prior to planting, we got photos of plant material, giant pots, big rocks and other items to choose and approve. The team was friendly and flexible in helping to revise the initial bid to meet our budget targets. The old landscaping was removed a week or so in advance of planting. While the yard looked very bare for a few days, it was also clean and tidy. The new planting went in over a couple of days, with an adequately- sized crew. The thing that struck us was how much each one of them seemed to love what they were doing. They were focused but never rushed, and all paid a lot of attention to detail. In addition to the plants, the irrigation, lighting, cleanup, etc. were all done to perfection. They were gracious in explaining things to our children and letting them help in small ways. The kids were sorry when the job was completed because they missed the team. After the job was done and the balance was paid, there were several follow-up items that were gladly completed within the next couple of weeks. Eight months later the yard looks great. The drip system is hidden under rocks and mulch, watering plants but not weeds. Amazing! The plants are growing in nicely, but there's no need yet to trim or prune. We recommend Orchard without reservation. These are folks that love what they're doing, and who you will like having around your home. They are the best I've worked with by far. Lucas and Michael (and their new employee who's name has escaped me) were AMAZING. I hired them to create a bamboo sanctuary on my office patio and they went above and beyond. The elevator happened to be down the day they were scheduled to install, and instead of rescheduling, they carried 8 bamboo plants, and 4 concrete planters (plus other necessary work supplies) up 3 flights of stairs without a complaint or second thought. They were kind and hard working and they executed my boss's vision perfectly (thanks for making me look good!) . I look forward to working with them in the future. Used these guys to obtain and plant some bamboo and extend existing sprinkler lines to irrigate it. Michael came out to give an estimate and spent a lot of time discussing different options and pricing. He was incredibly honest and professional and very responsive via email and phone. Incredibly reliable guy. When it came time to do the job, he was very flexible around my schedule and he and the other guy who helped (Lucas) worked hard and efficiently and didn't even give me extra grief (or cost) when there was an existing problem with the existing line another contractor put in. They both worked with the other contractor to get things working and didn't charge me any extra for this hassle. Bottom line these guys were so fantastic to work with that I already found another job in my yard I'm going to have them come back to do next week. We interviewed these guys plus another six contractors for this sprinkler job and they were the best and nearly the cheapest (only one was cheaper but these guys proved to be much more trustworthy so we decided to pay extra to use them and I'm so glad we did).
