Stay away! Despite having an appointment and arriving right on time, we were kept to wait for 15 mins. The best part is there were two customers currently being served, but there was an additional nail technician who chose to clean instead of take one of the two appointments that had arrived right on time. When we finally received service, my nail tech was extremely rough in removing my gel nail polish, so much so that it was quite painful. Also, they weren't even apologetic for taking us late. I HIGHLY recommend this nail place out of ALL the nail places in Palo Alto/Mountain View/Los Altos- honestly anywhere in the Bay Area. The owner is SUCH a SWEET soul and really cares about her customers, which a lot of other nail places do not. I've been to many places where they just care about getting your nails done ASAP so that they can get paid. Orchid nails is not like that at all and is absolutely FANTASTIC because of how you are treated! If you're unhappy with your service or the quality of nails, they won't make you feel bad about needing your nails to be retouched. I got a gel manicure here about a week ago and it's still holding strong. I would highly suggest going with gel nail polish and not the regular nail polish because the reg. chips very easily. The owner was so kind and went out of her way to directly contact me after hearing about how I felt disappointed with my pedicure. This place is very beautiful and very clean! I was a bit worried coming to this nail spot since most of the reviews were negative. My usual spot was closed and my nails needed desperate attention. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the owner and technician. They were smiling and eager to pamper a customer. I was given time to choose a color and was handed hot tea. Everything was exceptionally clean. Lots of color choices and the chairs were super comfortable. Best pedicure I've ever had!!! Went there earlier today to get my nails done (mani+pedi combo) and had a fantastic experience. I started with the pedicure and was pleasantly surprised by how thorough my nail artist was. The exfoliation and moisturizing treatment was great and I also got the hot stone as part of the basic gel combo which was also very soothing. My feet have never been so soft and smooth! My gel manicure was also great! I got a simple color but I'm sure they are able to do more complex designs if you request. The pricing is also decent. 80 for pedicure + gel manicure. First ... if you want acrylic nails, do not go here because they do not do acrylics. They do the get powder dip. I looked to Yelp to find a nail salon close to the V.A. Hospital. I am from out of town and didn't want to get lost. I was hesitant to go here based on the reviews. But it looked clean and inviting.... and it was. The lighting was pleasant and the background music was so relaxing ! The pedicure massage chairs are fabulous. I didn't get a full treatment for pedicure because I had sun burned my legs really bad the day before. Despite the sunburn she did give me a very gentle massage. I had acrylic nails on, I wanted to get them soaked of and not ripped off. The nail technician did a wonderful painless job removing the acrylic. She was very careful not to damage my nails any more than they already were. She even manage to keep some length too. It took almost and hour of tedious soaking and then wiping with cotton to get them off. She was gentle and took her time, she didn't get upset and just go straight to the file or scraper. My gel polish has soft dips in it but that is due to the previous damage. I will definitely return. read more

I got a pedicure here that was fine overall, but there were a few minor things that made this four stars instead of five. One is that the chair I was asked to sit in apparently didn't move forward enough to be close to the bowl, so they put two pillows on the back of the chair (meaning I wasn't able to use the massage function). The other thing I should mention is that they asked for a tip in cash - I would have felt awful if I hadn't had any cash on me! So that's something to know in advance. read more

This is my new favorite nail salon. Orchid nails offers wonderful service in a clean, well-kept space. Staff is accommodating and very friendly. (Vanessa is amazing!) The nail techs don't rush and I'm consistently impressed by their precision/attention to detail. Annie was so meticulous, patient, and gentle with my gel mani to make sure it came out exactly how I wanted. Service - At most nail places, the service is what keeps you coming back or drives you far, far away. While for most places it is the latter (a few times of bad service and you are onto your quest for a new nail place), I am happy to report EVERY SINGLE employee at Orchid was friendly and wants to ensure the best of service. These ladies go above and beyond. While typical nail employees chat among themselves, the employees at Orchid actually chatted with us and asked time and time again if we were comfortable. Also, they do a really quality job and all the ladies are definitely perfectionists. They did not rush us at all, and spent close to 2 hours on our service. Atmosphere - They have super comfy massage chairs here for pedis, give you a thorough foot/hand massage, and also have an electric machine to remove the calluses on your feet. The place is also super clean and you can tell they aren't reusing any old tools (because who wants a foot infection or disease...eww). A mani pedi is $40 and they have a loyalty card for $15 off after you visit a certain number of times. All in all, if you want to be happy with your mani-pedi, it's time to let your orchid bloom! read more

There were two women working on one customer (which I get) and three free employees walking around gossiping on the phone, looking at her nails, the other was putting things away. We were the only two customers in the salon. No list of services or prices displayed anywhere. I asked if they did waxing, the woman told me to sit down twice before I could finish my question. I sat and waited 5 minutes until I was eyeballed by another worker from head to toe and head again.. really uncomfortable.. Then she said, "come back (in 45 minutes)." Which didn't work for my schedule. Out of 5 people, only one does waxing? Figured I'd give this place a try since it's close to work and my usual place is in San Jose.. definitely won't be coming back after that awkward experience. I have my usual lady but unfortunately she was totally booked and I was in desperate need of a fill. 3 had broken a bit, 1 was about to lift, I'm a weight lifter so I'm hardly kind to my hands. (hence why I do acrylic so I can still retain some of my femininity) One of the girls at work suggested Orchid since she has the same problem with her nail lady being too busy. First thing this place is absolutely adorable. The decor is tastefully done in neutrals with flours around the shop. Their Polish selection is top notch for such a small shop. This place had real potential, until I ended up paying $27 for a pedicure that did not include a scrub down of the heels with a pumice. It's not an add on service, they just don't do it. I looked at other customers while there too, and they did not get one either. Since when is getting a pedicure just a paint your toe nail type of thing. I didn't have such a great nail tech either. She wasn't gentle and had a difficult time using the cuticle cutter as well as the file. I feel a soreness already due to digging in too deep. Highly recommend going elsewhere or just painting your toe nails at home. Not recommended if you have to pay. read more
