My kids and I love going there. The place is clean and the service is good. We like their burgers and their tacos but not their pizza. We are not sure why they sell pizza to start with. Sounds like there are trying to be everything to all people which is not a good business strategy. I would love it if their prices are a little lower so we can go there more often. This place never disappoints us... never. Always fresh. So darn delicious. They have everything from pizza, tacos, and burgers. Their fries are to die for, I'm a sucker for homemade French fries and this is the place to get them. Let's not forget the homemade chocolate chip cookies too. We love to go here also because you can get your burger served on a gluten-free bun which we always get a burger to go for my dad who has Celiac disease and he loves every bite of it. This was a quick last minute decision to stop here for our last meal before we drove back home from our SA weekend get away. It was a great choice to come here! The service was great. My husband and I each got 2 breakfast tacos and they were packed with deliciousness. We are very picky on how eggs are cooked and their eggs were on point! I was so stuffed after the 1st taco I could barely finish my 2nd. I'm a first-time Customer of Orderup which I discovered using the Yelp APP. I came on a bit of a whim because I was looking for a local place with the best French Fries. I ordered and paid online, which I highly suggest. Orderup gets very busy during Lunch and had I not placed an online order I would have not gone at all. In regard to the Fries, I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed. I tasted them straight from the bag as soon as I got to my car. While the Fries were warm and lightly salted, they were also soft and limp with no crunch. As Fries go, I would compare them with those Golden Arch Fries. On the upside, the Patty Melt I ordered was delicious and tasty. You may ask, why am I so bent on the Fries in this review? #AllergenInfo - Soy, Gluten, Dairy: Their fry oil is canola, and the ice cream is Blue Bell so many of their shakes will be soy-free. The whipped cream they use comes in a can, and has mono & diglycerides, which have the possibility of coming from soy, but other than that, it is soy-free. They don't make their own tortillas, so the flour ones are likely to have soy, but their tacos can be ordered with soy-free corn tortillas, or lettuce wrapped as a soy-free and gluten-free option. One of their employees has a Gluten allergy, which prompted the manager to do research on gluten in their menu items, and they now have an option to upgrade to a gluten-free bun or bagel, which luckily for me, are also soy-free. The burgers can also be wrapped in lettuce for yet another soy-free and gluten-free option. Their shakes and smoothies can be dairy-free with coconut based ice cream and coconut milk yogurt options. On my first visit I got a Coffee Shake, which has Blue Bell Vanilla ice cream and their locally roasted coffee. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I like coffee in my desserts, and the coffee flavor was very prominent in this shake. It went fast, was very good, and I'd place it in third place of the coffee shakes I've had. I think the Espresso shake at 24 Diner in Austin, and the Espresso Freeze at Cappyccino's here in San Antonio are the only renditions that were better done. The skin-on fries were soft, rather than crisp, and go better with ketchup, rather than without. (Sadly, for fans of soft British chips, I didn't see any vinegar available here.) I got the ABC (avocado, bacon, cheddar) Burger with the gluten-free bun. It looked like it would be a hard bun, but was wonderfully soft. None of the flavors stood out until about 1/4 of the way in when I started to taste the bacon. (uneven distribution, and I bet doing a bacon-weave would take too long for the staff) This burger comes without condiments, so you may want to add some ketchup or serrano ketchup from their small condiment station. The diced veggies and shredded lettuce can easily fall out, so this is one burger that I don't recommend cutting in half. Overall, it was a good rendition of burgers and fries. Another day I came in for an afternoon snack. I had a Strawberry and Pineapple smoothie with added Jarrow brand whey protein. It was very smooth, wasn't overly sweet, and I could easily taste both the strawberries and pineapple. I would classify it as one of the better fruit smoothies in town. On another visit I had their Chicken Burger on a gluten-free bun, without onions, and added the grilled pineapple. I also ordered the Sweet Potato fries with added Nutella and bacon, and I had a Cinnamon shake to drink. The shake came out first, and wow -- the cinnamon flavor was very strong, with a medium thickness, and it went down easily. The Sweet Potato fries were messy, and really good. Combined with the Nutella, it should be enough to satisfy anyone's sweet tooth. The added bacon I ordered came as a generous helping of pieces in a separate side cup. You can sprinkle the pieces as you see fit. As expected, the fries were soft, but the bacon added a nice crunch, and helped to balance some of the sweetness of the other ingredients. However, added to the Chickenburger, and the shake as the rest of my meal, it was a bit too much for me to eat that day. I was unable to finish off the fries. If you order them, I suggest sharing them with a friend, or order the smaller size. As for the Chickenburger, the reaction I had when I took my first bite was: "Wow, this really tastes like chicken!" I can recommend this sandwich on that reaction alone. On yet another visit I had the Surfer Fish Tacos on corn tortillas. They include fish, avocado, and grilled pineapple. I also had a side order of their fries. Surprisingly, dipping the fries in the thin salsa they provide with the tacos made for a nice tasty change of pace. (Pardon the pun.) I recommend trying it at least once. [ Yes, I know that's not too far off from breakfast tacos with salsa, but before that day, it hadn't crossed my mind to do it with just plain fries. ] As for the tacos themselves, the fish was crispy and had a little heat of their own aside from the salsa I added. The avocado, the squeeze of lime, and especially the pineapple, added nice bright highlights to the flavors of the fish. The only complaint I came up with was that the soft corn tortillas fell apart fairly easily. Perhaps they could solve that by offering an option to upgrade to double tortillas on the tacos. They have a rather large menu, but everything I've tried so far has been wonderful. Someday I hope we can move closer to this place so I can work my way through the rest of their menu. On a final note, the staff has always been quite willing to find ways to accommodate my allergy. They care about their food, and if you have an allergy, they will do their best to take care of you. read more

Previously I would have given this establishment 5 stars, but a few months ago they changed their menu. Their new menu is quite small and hard to read. (People must not be happy with their new menu because their old menu in some form sits in the front of the store for people to reference for those in the know). They seem to have tried to simplify things, but by doing so they have added more confusion and now they are more like a generic fast food restaurant. Rather than purveyors of organic, hip, fast food, they are no longer special. Previously I had esp. liked all their versions chicken tacos. And they had "gluten free" options as well as local beef in their burgers. Theses still seem to be in place, but rather than 2 tacos, they have slightly lowered the price, but you only now get 1 taco, which makes the total bill much higher. Last time we went yesterday, we ordered our normal order, but did not order any fries or sweet potato fries or any of their dairy free smoothies that you could get with coconut milk yogurt, and our bill was the same. Not a good deal. If you look at their new menu which is plastered on their wall, they have columns for burgers, tacos and pizza. (The pizza as far as I know is a new thing). But rather than the cool specialty burgers and tacos that had special names, you now have to choose what you want in them and they are fairly generic. And they took down all the pretty pictures they had of their various food options because it would likely confuse customers with the recent changes in their menu. Needless to say, we used to frequent this place weekly, but it is unclear what all these changes mean and if the quality of the food will still be the same. My husband and I felt that the chicken tacos we had yesterday were not as tasty as previous. I gottta say I love Orderup. I used to work in the Quarry and when lunch came around the majority of us ordered from Orderup. The menu is the best thing about Orderup. There are simple dishes that you can add on to from a list of veggies. I always got the tacos or the burger. To be honest the food isn't amazing but it's good for the price and the options part of it is the best part. The fries are rather good. The large is huge so they can easily be split between 2 or even 3 people. I had no problems when I ordered the shake. I actually liked the chocolate shake. Maybe it's just different tastes but I really liked it. Will definitely go back to visit soon especially on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night for the live music! read more

It's been a couple years since I've been to OrderUp but I felt obligated to give them a great review because of their outstanding fish tacos that have left a permanent imprint on my brain. I still remember the perfect sized taco filled with flavorful fish and the freshest and crunchiest veggies ....hard to do with hot fish! The tacos were absolutely outstanding (and for anyone that reads many of my reviews, I constantly order fish tacos everywhere I go...obsessed) and flavorful. The best part? They left me feeling light and healthy...not overstuffed or like I was missing anything. I used to have friends in SA and went went to a plethora of fantastic restaurants...somehow this fast food chain has always stood out as one of my most amazing meals on any of my visits. So sad that I have no real reason to visit there anymore....but if I do, I'll be sure to go here numerous times. Bottom line: the fish tacos are a must. fries are optional. read more

My husband and I ate here tonight for the first time and I really wish we'd gone to Panera around the corner instead. We both ordered veggie burgers and a large fry to share. It took 20 minutes for the burgers. When they were finally done, the girl who delivered our food informed us that they were out of fries. When I asked how long it would take for new ones, she said "thirty minutes". I know the fries are hand-cut and supposed to be very good but if they take 30 minutes why at 5:30, your busiest time of the evening presumably, would you not have planned for this? We were offered cookies or salsa and chips instead. We passed and took a refund. The veggie burger itself was one of the most tasteless I've ever had. My husband actually put salt on his! They are all supposed to come with onions, lettuce tomato, and pickles. I asked for mine without onions so when it came, it had no onions, but also no pickles. My husband's had everything. :-/ The most irritating thing about this is that we were two of maybe ten other people eating in the restaurant. There were four people working. Why was one person not making fries? Why did it take 20 minutes to "grill" two veggie burgers? I'm mourning the downfall of one of my longtime favorites. The whole appeal of Orderup used to be that you could get whatever toppings you wanted on your burger, pizza, or taco. Now it appears that this feature has been completely done away with in favor of a selection of pre-designed burgers. As someone mentioned below, the personalization model made Orderup a haven for non-meat eaters. Now, they've whittled down the veggie option to a single item, and not one that sounds overly appealing to me. Order Up has changed and for the better! I've lived in Alamo Heights for 7 years. I've watched Order Up get better and better. I'm SUPER impressed by the new menu. I've tried the pizza which tastes FANTASTIC. Their classic burgers are my favorite with a side of Nutella fries. I love coming in for their breakfast tacos because their bacon is crispy and their potatoes are amazing. I've never had a restaurant get both right! They have amazing smoothies and my personal favorite is the mango. They have the best cookies in the whole world. I've never had a cookie like order up. They're doughy, chocolatey and they melt in your mouth! I crave them all the time! They should win some sort of cookie award. read more

They have a great concept here: fresh, simple, and made to order. That's a winning combination in my book. I like how they have limited offerings yet they stick to essential traditional items (burgers, pizza, tacos, soup and salad) You have the possibility to make them your own by choosing from several toppings. I stopped by for a late lunch around three to find an empty restaurant. The girl at the counter was very friendly and patient as it was my first time. I decided to order the tortilla soup with chicken ($1 extra for that) and one slice of BBQ chicken pizza. I loved the pizza, it wasn't greasy and had a generous amount of chicken. I would definitely try this again. The soup (12 oz cup) was awesome as well, yet there was no chicken in my soup the first time so I had to wait yet again for that to be added. Also, I found it a bit odd that they gave me a side of tortilla chips instead of actually putting it in the tortilla soup (it's in the name, I expect it in the soup). I just crumbled them and put them in but it's not the same as these get soggy quick so there's no crunch. It's not a major complaint seeing as I will eat this again (it's also possible it was served this way because my order was to go??). Overall I was satisfied with my food, yet I found it a tiny bit pricey for fast food ($10 for all this with no drink). Additionally, just by skimming their menu the tacos seem over priced (up to $7 for 3). I'll just have to try a few other items to see if it's worth the price.
