First time here- I will say the ordering is awkward as you order at register prior to sitting. There are menus at the register. If possible look at menu online and be prepared. Quiet restaurant with handful of tables- 2 screens that are good for weekend game watching. Store is clean and well stocked. Service was so friendly and the food came out timely for fresh made. The pizza crust is on the thinner side and so good! Very cheesy and not too greasy! The penne pollo was delicious and saucy. Calamari was well cooked and marinara sauce was yummy. Ray's Pizzaria on McCarty Rd offers a broad menu and a clean, easygoing environment, but our experience was mixed, and overall it didn't stand out among the many similar options in the city. Atmosphere: Located in a strip mall off San Pedro Blvd, Ray's is easy to access with plenty of well-lit parking. They offer carryout and delivery, and the interior is clean, colorful, and equipped with two TVs for casual dining. Restrooms were clean during our visit. You order at the counter--either through a cashier or a large touchscreen kiosk--and then grab your drinks. Service is mostly self-serve except when the food is brought to the table. We dined during the week and noticed a sign announcing an upcoming move to 7115 Blanco Rd, Ste. 107. Food: The menu is extensive, featuring pizza, calzones, pasta, Italian entrées, sandwiches, salads, appetizers, wings, and desserts. Vegetarian options are limited. Our group ordered a variety of items with mixed results. The calzones received no complaints. The lasagna was very good, and the eggplant parmigiana was solid. Spaghetti and meatballs were average. Pasta entrées include a salad with choice of dressing. We also ordered a large specialty pizza with a thin, foldable crust. Unfortunately, it had very little sauce and the crust was burnt, making it difficult to enjoy. Dessert included a large chocolate chip cookie--good flavor but dry and crumbly rather than soft and chewy. Drinks include fountain sodas and both sweetened and unsweetened tea, though no lemon or lime slices are available. At the time of our visit, the posted health inspection score was 97/100. Staff & Service: Staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful. We had no service issues. Overall: While prices are competitive and portions are average, the food quality was inconsistent. Tried the thin crust pizza here and it was excellent--crispy, light, and perfectly baked. The crust had that nice crunch but was still airy inside. For dessert we had the ube gelato and the mango pineapple sorbet. The ube gelato was creamy but didn't feel heavy, and the mango pineapple sorbet was the best--so refreshing and full of flavor. I LOVE coming here, I've been coming here way before it was rays pizzeria however the staff needs ALOT of improvement. Every time I go there something is ALWAYS WRONG OR MISSING. I was there yesterday and the PHONE DOES NOT WORK. I called today and I was told "to call back tomorrow " with no remorse or apology. The girl at the front is not very competent in the whole ordering process. She charged me $2 for 4 extra ranches. And SHE DID NOT PUT THEM IN THE BAG. Starting off strong with the person behind the register suggesting dishes and even saving us money by pointing out the specials that included extras so we were off to a great start. Everyone was so friendly, helpful, and the restaurant itself was so clean and well maintained. Many of us know there are two Ray's one on McCarty and the other on Fredericksburg. They are not the same. Different businesses but similar menus. This review is the McCarty one. So trying to be fair I tried to order a similar dish at each. That was a mistake on my part. There seems to be no sausage dishes here. Ziti with ground beef, ricotta, mozzarella and marinara sauce baked. The baked ziti while wonderful and filling is not that spicy, Plenty of meat and sauce but I like a more robust spice. I'll have to try another dish and ask about spices. To be fair I did have and loved the spaghetti and meatballs from their old location on Blanco years ago. Hopefully I'll manage to get back here earlier and have a slice it two and that shrimp dish santorina sounds great. Go it to go...wonderful packing in a metal pan that really holds the heat. It also reminds me of Italian back home. I live a good 29 to 30 minutes drive and it was still hot when I got home and finished that salad. Very Friendly, got my order correct and handicapped easy to get around. Plenty of room for a wheelchair. Now the salad was really a 6 plus...just look at the black olives, cheese, and other ingredients. Really top notch. Of the two the better salad in my opinion. Both had really good bread. Now having said that...I think it depends on what part of town you are in. Which is closer or more convenient for you. Slightly different flavor profiles but then I have not really tried enough to be sure of that. Happy to order from either. read more

I've never heard of Ray's until they catered lunch at our office. Those 20 inch pizzas are huge. I'm usually a fan of thin crispy crust pizza, but their New York style crust was so flavorful. Thin with a nice bit and chew. My favorite is their Supreme with Pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, sweet peppers, and black olives. Those red peppers were so good. We also had their salad with Romaine, tomatoes, garbanzos, black olives, mozzarella, and pepperoncini. Very tasty. I will have to give them a try next time I want a pie to go. read more

I truthfully expected to have a similar experience with the food and ambiance at this location. Sadly I must confess that the experience with the pizza was not the same. The pizza here was poorly made tasting nothing like the Fredericksburg location. The whole experience was dissimilar. The toppings (mushrooms and pepperoni were good and generous!) Soooo why the three stars? Although the pizza crust was well cooked and crisp it had little to no flavor of its own. And to make matters worse the accompanying pizza sauce was (I can't put my finger nor my tongue on it!) So very salty or straight out of a can or old or a combo of some of these. I wish I could say it was great and it was good compared to all the cardboard franchises like well you know the names papa smurfs, pizza house of terrible pizzas and dominatrix of awful pizzas and more! The Supreme pie was as good as it was at the last location. The toppings were great. Good amount of sausage and pepperoni. The mushrooms were meaty, the onions and peppers nice and tender. We had some calamari, too. Tasty. Only thing is the marinara is a little too thin. Could be thicker, for sure. All in all, I'm betting the quality of the food is as good as always. read more

We shared the large Ray's Special, and Spinach Ricotta pizzas, with a side of 12 bone-in wings - 6 lemon pepper/ 6 mild between 4 adults (including self). We were all stuffed with pizza leftover. Oh, and I also ordered a cannoli for us to try--super tasty and baked fresh to order! Ordered a medium pepperoni pizza and hot wings to go for my gf from NY, who's typically hard to please. We did not receive our correct order because Ray's didn't have ingredients to make us what wanted...so instead they just gave us random items on the menu. They are RARELY open and continue to be closed more and more during peak eating times. Ray's continues to disappoint with poor management and irresponsibility. read more

I am so disappointed to write this as this was a place I genuinely enjoyed eating at. However, a few months ago, I dined in and when my salad was brought out to me it came along with a little dead baby roach on my salad dressing container. The owner was apologetic and brought me a new salad dressing. It doesn't end there! Recently, I went in and sat down to eat only to be met with a medium roach charging towards the bottom of our table by the booth area. It was disgusting! We quickly moved and informed the waitstaff when she brought out our food. Surprisingly, she asked for clarification as we were frazzled and mortified only to say "oh, OK" as she calmly walked away. As we sat there avoiding making a scene, we noticed a family of roaches in that same area congregating under the booth. After further investigation, tiny baby roaches were seen by the new table we relocated to. As if that wasn't dreadful and traumatizing enough, upon visiting the restroom, before abruptly leaving, the restroom sink was dingy and dirty as if it had not been cleaned in awhile. So sad Ray's Pizzeria, we hope you can repair your reputation and clean this place up!!! read more

My friend and I went for the first time during our lunch break. We went at 12 on a friday and it wasn't packed at all! The layout is nice, you order at the front then you sit yourself and they bring the food to you. (Just in case you haven't been here and are wondering if you need reservations) The food was really good and filling, we couldn't even finish it.
