Pizza was huge and delicious!! The service was great as well as the ambiance. They just opened a new place and it was very cute! It felt like new york. I will definitely be returning. A great place to get pizza by the slice. Thank you, Ray's!

Best New York style pizza in San Antonio. This place is a little slice of home for East Coast expats. One of the few pizza places in SA to sell by the slice.

This place was on point today and was very impressed for my first visit. Starting off strong with the person behind the register suggesting dishes and even saving us money by pointing out the specials that included extras so we were off to a great start. I asked for a cappuccino in the middle of the day and it was made to order - so well made that I asked for a second cup. To die! Everyone was so friendly, helpful, and the restaurant itself was so clean and well maintained. Every single one of our part of 7 enjoyed their meals, very flavorful and we were there a while catching up with no one pressuring us at all to leave. We even had gelato's and cannoli's. We will definitely be coming back and soon!

Many of us know there are two Ray's one on McCarty and the other on Fredericksburg. They are not the same. Different businesses but similar menus. This review is the McCarty one. So trying to be fair I tried to order a similar dish at each. That was a mistake on my part. There seems to be no sausage dishes here. Ziti with ground beef, ricotta, mozzarella and marinara sauce baked. The baked ziti while wonderful and filling is not that spicy, Plenty of meat and sauce but I like a more robust spice. I'll have to try another dish and ask about spices. To be fair I did have and loved the spaghetti and meatballs from their old location on Blanco years ago. Hopefully I'll manage to get back here earlier and have a slice it two and that shrimp dish santorina sounds great. Go it to go...wonderful packing in a metal pan that really holds the heat. It also reminds me of Italian back home. I live a good 29 to 30 minutes drive and it was still hot when I got home and finished that salad. Very Friendly, got my order correct and handicapped easy to get around. Plenty of room for a wheelchair. Now the salad was really a 6 plus...just look at the black olives, cheese, and other ingredients. Really top notch. Of the two the better salad in my opinion. Both had really good bread. Now having said that...I think it depends on what part of town you are in. Which is closer or more convenient for you. Slightly different flavor profiles but then I have not really tried enough to be sure of that. Happy to order from either.

The woman who took our order was polite, informative, and a great person to speak with. We came for just a quick slice before a cover band concert at a nearby bar, and we were extremely impressed. The pizza was fast, hot, and very cheesy! We will definitely be back!

The food feels like the chefs were given good quality materials, but had no idea what to do with them. We ordered a funghi pizza to share then a cinghiale, a costine (short ribs), and a dentice (bass). Funghi pizza was the only dish that made coming worth it at all. It had a nice flavor, but if you're expecting the notes of an earthy mushroom flavor, don't. It's just a nicer version of a standard cheese pizza topped with some onions and mushroom. The cinghiale was just stunningly mediocre. The meat was flavorful, but the pasta itself was shockingly bland. It was just so... ok. The dentice was the best of the 3 individual dishes, but it is just what you would expect some average short ribs with random sauce to taste. The costine was just terrible. Salty on the outside, yet flavorless on the inside. Avoid at all costs. The service was passable, but they clearly overwork their servers as one server just handles an entire section and is too overwhelmed to be timely. I came to cheer myself up, but honestly it only made dinner comically worse. I seriously can't imagine what would cause someone to rate this as 5 stars. Maybe if they thought Olive Garden was 4.5, then I guess this would barely be a 5 in comparison? Either way, if you're looking for good food for your dinner, keep looking. You won't find it here.

I started with a Hugo spritz, which was light, refreshing, and exactly what I wanted to kick things off. It was incredibly creamy and paired so well with the fresh toppings and bread. Definitely a must-order. And of course, we had to end with dessert--the tiramisu was unbelievably creamy and indulgent, with just the right balance of sweetness and espresso flavor. Absolute perfection. Our server kept everything organized, drinks refilled, and plates coming out smoothly without anyone feeling rushed. Everyone in our group felt really well taken care of, which made the whole evening relaxed and fun. The food was just as impressive. Truly every person at the table seemed to love what they ordered -- we had a lot of "you have to try this!" moments being passed around the table. One thing I especially appreciated was the Caesar salad. I noticed another review mentioning the anchovy flavor in the dressing as a negative, but in my opinion, that's exactly what made it great. For me a Caesar should have that briny anchovy depth, and this one tasted freshly made and perfectly balanced. It felt authentic and thoughtfully prepared. Between the warm atmosphere, truly fantastic service, and food that everyone enjoyed, it made for a really memorable evening. We'll absolutely be back! Thank you Renzo's for taking such great care of us!

Not too hot, just that easy breeze rolling off the river like it's got nowhere else to be. I'm there with my daughter and family, and the world's walking by boats cruising, people laughing, a little chaos, a little charm... dinner and a show, no ticket required. Now the food real Italian food. Not the kind that just throws red sauce at you and hopes for the best. This is layered. Garlic that actually means something. Rich, buttery sauces clinging to perfectly cooked pasta like they're in a lifelong commitment. You taste herbs, you taste depth it's the kind of Italian food that makes you slow down mid-bite and just nod like, "Yeah... they got this right." Drinks? Smooth enough to keep ordering, strong enough to make you question your life choices in the best way. Service was dialed in. Nobody missing, nobody stressed just right there when you needed them, like they were reading your mind or watching you a little too closely... either way, it worked. And the atmosphere? That's where it gets dangerous. Because you sit there watching the River Walk roll by, the noise, the laughter, the movement... and suddenly two hours disappear. You're ordering dessert you didn't plan on, another drink you don't need, and nobody at the table's in a hurry to leave. I came for Italian food... ...and ended up staying for everything else.

The ambience within the premises is also lovely with that of a cellar vibe, low lighting (at night) and of course the water which works well. The staff were professional, friendly and attentive. Menu-The menu was quite extensive. However, would not normally attend a place this pricey, but it was a special occasion & you tend get what you pay for. Meals- We ordered the Capellini Pomodoro Crudo & the Spaghetti ( Spicy ) The red sauce is delicious on the spaghetti. The Crudo, it was a little disappointing. It hardly had any roasted tomatoes in it and large chunks of mozzarella that never melted. The olive oil was very present & not much else. Would have been better tossed with some of that spicy tomato sauce! (see pics). Note-Advise you to make a reservation! We were fortunate: as we went late in the evening, no wait time, seated outside & they were still fairly busy. The restaurant offers a private cruise dining $ experience. So we went online and made a reservation. Upon arrival, we had a large round table set for 10 ready for us. Our waiter, Rami, was really nice and worked hard all evening to take good care of us. The restaurant itself is along a quiet area of the River Walk in an old stone building with tons of charm. The ambiance was relaxed and inviting, perfect for a group dinner. As for the food, it was good but not exceptional. I was excited for the Goat Cheese Pizza with balsamic onion, pistachio, and saba. The thin crust, however, was almost too crunchy and a bit tough to eat. The toppings didn't stand out as much as I had hoped, likely because they were overbaked together. Overall, we had a lovely dinner with great service, a charming atmosphere, and good - but not great - food. 4 stars for now. I would return and try again.

However we realized quickly EVERYONE was waiting outside and they had clearly overbooked or had some issue. Finally, after waiting 20 minutes we were sat. The waittress was kind and let us know the kitchen was having some issues so food would be a little delayed between courses. It was about 60 degrees outside and we kindly asked to turn off the outside fans which were on full blast. Once. Then again, and again, and again. After 5 attempts asking various people we gave up and the waitress let us know she couldnt turn them off because their iPad control died. We werent upset at this we were just upset we kept getting different answers and no explanation for our entire 2+ hr meal. We finished the entree and were waiting for the dessert for about 15 minutes until we finally just flagged down a waittress and asked to get the check and desert to go because we were ready to leave. We waited another 10 minutes before someone else brought us our desert but no check. We asked them for the check and then the original waitress came back with our check and another set of deserts. At some point I saw another server who seemed like the manager or supervisor telling another worker to straighten the tables outside so the corners were aligned... needless to say the table alignment was not the issue. Overall just seemed like the restaurant was overwhelmed and there wasn't alot of communication between tables and the staff. It seems the staff was trying their best but the management wasn't handling it well. Would have appreciated more effort into making sure we were taken care of considering the meal for 2 totaled almost 300$. The only reason this isn't a one star is because of the kind waiting staff.

As far as the food, we had the fried mozzarella, which was essentially a log of cheese deep-fried and served over sauce. It was delicious, but the cheese-to-crust ratio was a bit heavy. The Caesar salad looked better than it tasted. It was very wet, if that makes sense, and the lettuce seemed soggy. Now for the Wagyu ragu. This almost made me have a seizure, and not in a good way. It was extremely salty and completely inedible, so we had to send it back. The waitstaff was very accommodating and agreed that the salt level was way off, so we replaced it with the carbonara. I'm not sure if that's what authentic carbonara is supposed to taste like, but I did not enjoy it. It tasted burnt to me and had too much pepper. I also didn't care for the shape of the noodles. Last, we had the Americano pizza. It was decent, but nothing to write home about. I just think that if you're going to advertise a pizza with meat on it, there should be more than one piece of sausage per slice. As far as the service, our server was fine. Not particularly friendly, but straightforward and efficient. The manager (or another server) was helpful when it came to replacing our dish. Overall, I would not go back. The location is great and the vibe is nice, but the food was a miss. Save your money and go somewhere else.
