Oregon Coast Chowder House is attached to Oregon Coast Pizzeria. My wife is a clam chowder aficionado -- she declared the clam chowder here the best she has ever eaten. The chowder had lots of clams and was buttery with a touch of sweetness. Brenda, our cheerful hostess/waitress/chef told us it was the heavy sweet cream she uses. The outstanding fish and chips were reminiscent of an English chips shop we liked very much in Harrogate, Yorkshire. Both fresh cod and halibut were offered -- I like cod and loved this take on the UK standard. Even the coleslaw was first rate. Two (emphatic) thumbs up from us. read more

The place smells like the generic bathroom soap smell. Ambiance was weird with no music and it was awkwardly quiet with our family and 2 others waiting for our food. My son said the boys bathroom sink didn't work so he couldn't wash his hands. We ordered a cheese pizza and I got a side of clam chowder. The pizza looks like it's a generic pre made pizza crust they have ordered in. Tastes like gas station pizza honestly.And the clam chowder was disgusting and cold. When we walked in, no one even acknowledged us, when I tried to order,the person behind the counter said she couldn't help us because she was punched out. We ordered the French dip with onion rings, double clam strips, a vanilla shake and a chocolate shake. This is the first time I've had a French dip with NO dip. Half of the onion rings were burnt, but the other half were soggy. The clam strips came with the smallest order of steak fries ever, we counted 7. The large shakes were served in the metal cups and weren't even half full. The restaurant seems tired and dirty.We were disappointed with everything. We will not be back ever! This place has a owned and operated feel to it and they have a wide variety of food to pick from. The only thing that was not so impressive was the menu's them selves.
