Ore House Hilltop Tavern is exactly the type of establishment that I like. It knows what it is, and it knows what it does well. 'Tis a pub where the inhabitants of Oracle themselves go to get a bite to eat and to have a good beer. For the latter, it has a great selection of beers on tap. Also, as it is on a hill, it has nice views over Oracle itself. This past April, Mom and I were up in Oracle for the Artist's Gallery Tour, and we were hungry and wanted something to eat afterwards. We had heard of Ore House, and we stopped in. Our waiter, Thomas, was quite friendly and very helpful. He told us about the beers, and when I asked about the Chocolate Ale, he brought me a sample. That was the beer that I ended up having, and it was delicious. We decided to go for the baskets: Shrimp for Mom and Fried Steak for me. They were cooked perfectly, and they came with Beer-Battered Fries. Yum! Thomas even told us which dipping sauces he himself liked with them. All in all, this was a very pleasant experience: good food, great beer and a terrific waiter. We will dine here again the next time we are in Oracle. read more

Just off the beaten path but SO worth the trip! Delicious local beers on tap and the food is fantastic! We tried flights of beer. I loved the Sentinel Peak Brewing Salida Del Sol and my boyfriend was a big fan of the Dragoon IPA. The Texas Toothpicks and Onion rings have such an amazing flavor. Anything with the house made BBQ sauce will be worthwhile (ribs, Smoked Chicken Salad, etc). The pizza is fantastic and, well the Skooki and Flaming Apple desserts were to die for! I can not say enough about the laid back atmosphere, friendly service, jukebox in the background and one of the more memorable meals I've had in Rural AZ. read more

For bar food, I would have rated this quirky little tavern five stars, but had to gig it a bit due to loud music. We were there today for the third time this past month and the first two times we had to ask to lower the volume. Today it wasn't bad but maybe it was because the selections were better than the first two times. The mushroom burger is very good as are the fries and onion rings. One of my buddies liked the fish & chips a lot, although not as much fish as I would have liked. We had passed this place quite a few times and wrote it off as a "bikers bar", and while it is a regular stop for the Harley crowd, patrons and staff are very friendly--often family groups there. Food is a bit slow in coming, so don't recommend it if you are in a hurry, but if you want to have leisurely chats in a friendly place with an interesting mining atmosphere, this is your place. We were heading back to our hotel in Tucson after exploring the Biosphere 2 and located this gem outside Oracle. Nice place to sit back and take in the view. The bar is located on a hill so you get a good sight of the surrounding area. Oh and the local craft beers are great and the hamburgers were very satisfying. Went to the Ore House today for lunch. Have eaten there several times in the past and have always been happy with the Pastrami sandwich. The pastrami always came in slices and the meat was crispy. My wife is not a pastrami fan, but she loved my sandwiches before. The last time we ate here was in September 2018 and I was not disappointed. Today, was different. When my sandwich came I only saw squares of meat and the meat was not crispy like before. There was only one layer of meat and as I started eating the sandwich, I started spitting out big pieces of fat. By the time I finished the sandwich, one third of the meat on the sandwich was fat. No one brought out our check, so when I went to the bar to pay, I told the bartender it was the worst sandwich I ever had. She told another lady (possibly the owner) and I told her we were never coming back. She told me to give them another chance. I never got to check my bill for accuracy, I was just told the total amount of $38 and change. We may go back in March with friends, but I do not want another fatty sandwich with no meat on it. read more

We went there for a burger and asked for the Schroom burger...but no chipotle mayo. When the burger arrived it was way overcooked and the scarce mushrooms and onions were cooked in a hot sauce. The bun was toasted in it as well. The menu said Loaded with mushrooms and said nothing about a hot sauce. We complained but nothing was done. Never again. read more

This place is a cozy hill top bar, the food is good and service is friendly and prompt. The cook sometimes is overly cautious about the ghost pepper cheese and I understand why, for most it would be too hot, but I found it not bad at all, but then I like thing hot and spicy!
