We bought in a mid-century house whose furnace is located on the roof . It is a common location for…read morethis type of house, but -needless to say- it is not easy to replace that furnace when the need comes. We decided to hire ATLAS for the job: the furnace was old, and the original roof ducting did a lousy job distributing the heat throughout the house. I was always cold even when the heat was "blasting". ATLAS did a thorough and patient analysis of our old system. They decided to double up the ducts to provide more air flow, and they also organized the flow inside the ducts: it worked. Frankly, the final cost was reasonable, considering the benefits I am getting from it. I particularly recommend Nick and Scott who supervised the project: they really looked into the project, then fixed the problem. Plus: the work was clean, and the communication great all along. Happy customer :-)

Attempt 3 at an estimate, scheduled for between 2:00-4:00, shows up at 5:45, at which point was too late as were just about to leave the house. Person (I assume scheduling manager) then calls me asking for a fourth try at this. She was very polite and apologetic, but in what world would they have earned my business like this?

We needed to replace a 24 year-old heating and air-conditioning system, Galaxy came up as number one of our first choice. We made an appointment, A gentleman came out, he emailed us a quote, a day or two later. When we had more questions, Galaxy sent out another gentleman to go over additional questions and we settled on the same, trane/American standard system . Within a week the full system was scheduled for install. The young men who installed the system were very respectful of the property very respectful of my father since his house is immaculate. You would've never known they were even there they cleaned up so well. They completed all the work in one day, which was shocking they went above and beyond and replaced a water nozzle that had been leaking under his house for who knows how long. Their pricing was also very competitive. We had a heat pump installed, and it has been working flawlessly. They even coordinate someone to meet with the final inspector with you, so you don't have to worry about that part of the process. The biggest thing that sets Galaxy apart, though, is their communication. Every message was answered promptly, and none of my questions went unanswered. I really appreciated that because many contractors are simply too busy to stay on top of communication. Throughout the project, I got the impression that they are always looking for ways to improve their service. I received five quotes before making my decision, and I'm very glad I chose Galaxy. I would 100% hire them again. Judging by their rating, it looks like a thousand other customers feel the same way.

QC referred us to Harry Clark Heating and Air Conditioning for a complete upgrade to replace our gas furnace. HC owner Don Marshall spent an hour and a half assessing the existing heating system in our 1908 home, answering all our questions and providing a detailed quote for a two zone system the next day. After reviewing the quote with QuitCarbon, we decided the price was competitive and chose not to get other bids. I should mention that I'm a licensed mechanical engineer and have lots of experience working with contractors. Armando Hernandez and his crew completed the install in one week and we were up and running on day 5. The quality of the workmanship was excellent. Armando addressed my many questions and was a pleasure to work with. There was an issue with a defective part in the air handler. The project manager Matt Schwoyer was able to resolve it with their supplier, and the part was replaced the following week. Everyone at Harry Clark was professional and responsive throughout the whole project. We are pleasantly surprised with the improved and consistent comfort level in our home and would recommend HC to anyone considering a heat pump retrofit.

I opened a project on Yelp and went with Harry Clark. Oscar was the tech who came out on the scheduled appointment date. He was very tidy wearing shoe covers and after climbing his ladder to get into my attic, he was able to determine that it wasn't the pilot light that was the issue with my furnace, but it was simply turned off. He turned it on and then went to work installing my smart thermostat. After he got it installed, he showed me how to adjust the settings. Finally he also examined my living room fireplace and showed me where the switch was inside the panel to turn it on. He was clean and efficient and I'm very happy with the service. I called them later and asked to be put on a list for annual furnace maintenance. High recommend Oscar and Harry Clark Heating and Air.

Later that evening, PG&E confirmed that our furnace had failed and was releasing carbon monoxide into our home. The next morning, I began calling HVAC contractors. None of the nine companies I contacted could help for at least a week. Fortunately, a friend from my daughter's school referred me to Jose. He answered on the second ring, immediately understood the issue, and told me his Vice President would be at my house within the hour. Just 30 minutes later, Rudy arrived and quickly confirmed the diagnosis with his equipment. Jose immediately recognized the urgency of the situation. Not only were we without heat in freezing temperatures, but our family was also at risk of further carbon monoxide exposure. By 5:00 p.m. that same day, Air Flow Pros had sourced and delivered a new furnace, assembled a six-person crew, and begun removing the old unit. By 8:00 p.m., the new furnace was professionally installed, the work area was spotless, and our home was once again warm and safe. The service was truly outstanding. Air Flow Pros delivered a high-quality product at a fair price and completed the entire job within eight hours of my initial call. I couldn't be happier and would recommend them without hesitation.

The new refrigerant line install looks very clean and inconspicuous against the side of the house (I couldn't even tell it was there without Jose sending me photos later on of where it was placed). Oren and Abdu were so wonderful! Our experience was great from start to finish. Their office manager Tanisha is warm, responsive and professional. They came to take a look at our heater the same day we called in spite of the fact that it was late October and clearly the busy season. From that point on, they diagnosed and fixed our old heater rather than try to convince us to replace it which we could not afford. They made us feel like family and went above and beyond the call of duty to replace outdated, unavailable parts with new ones- genius. They really know their stuff and they are truly kind and generous. We were actually surprised when we got our bill. This review is definitely long overdue. Scheduling: I called in asking a million questions and Oren's team was great. The receptionist, was kind and respectful of my continuous questions and answered all of them and made sure she could really accommodate ALL of my needs. I then ended up having to call and reschedule more then once and each time I was met with a friendly greeting, and furthermore, reassured it was no problem. Day of service: the team was extremely professional showed up on time. David and his crew are fantastic!! They are professional, clean, courteous and very knowledgeable. I live in a condo and the unit above me had a leak coming from the dryer duct. David come to do a duct cleaning and found that it was more then just condensation. The duct was full of water, with his experience he knew just want to do. He used his carpet cleaner to suck all the water and lint from the duct. This worked great. We believe we have isolated the source of the leaking. As far as pricing and availability; they returned my after hours call and came over the very next day. Plus they were the least expensive I found. 11-10-2016 I contacted Oren's services in order for him to provide Hvac work in a project I have been working on. Oren came out to be job site, more than anything he impressed me with his professional knowledge of the trade. Besides that, his price was competitive and I felt he can do the job right. We recently moved to Oakland, and were looking to replace an old furnace and install a new AC system in our house. Oren came out to do the estimate, which was super easy. A few weeks later, we had our new system! Oren and the team were all super communicators about the process and extremely responsive to my questions and concerns. After the new system was up and running, they came back no charge to do a few slight modifications to the duct work to optimize a bad design by the original installers from years ago. Oren's Services did a wonderful job in cleaning up bird droppings under and around our solar panels in our roof. The previous company that was contracted by our Solar Company installed the bird screen around the panels, but did not clean up, (but that's a different review). Oren's (Sean and company) came by Sunday and cleaned up everything for us. They removed the bird screens, cleaned up underneath and around the solar panels, including the gutters, then they put back the bird screens. They even cleaned up my backyard concrete! I worked for Oren for 2 years as a service technician. I can say he emphasized that I troubleshoot and Diagnose and present honest solutions to the homeowner. He told me to never upsell, that if you take your time and be honest the work will come and you will be ok. One of the best companies I ever worked for. He covered his shoes before he entered, and told us everything that was involved, and proceeded to walk us through the steps. He worked solid for nine hours, taking only one short break for lunch. The quoted price for a two-head unit with external pump was in line or lower than the competing bids, backed by an extended multi-year warranty as Mitsubishi Diamond Certified installers. Heat pumps installed alongside existing central air is not an uncommon request, but we had a great conversation with Brook on how we might update to a more modern system in the future, given our original(!) furnace's age. Side questions for him aside, we had a thoughtfully sized system outlined and quoted within a day, and scheduled within two weeks. Our experience with the installation was similarly great, with the team arriving promptly as scheduled and taking the care to put on shoe coverings moving through the house. Everyone was polite and efficient, bringing the plan to life and bringing us in early when there were onsite decisions to be made in our unique spaces. When an issue arose on the cooling not blowing as cold as we had expected, they were quick to assist with troubleshooting, and had it fully remediating within the week. Permits are still pending due to the Oakland backlog, but their lead electrician will also be onsite during the inspection process so I have no worries there. While our immediate need during the heat wave this Spring was cooling our living spaces, I have full confidence that whenever we go to multizone heating and cooling, Spot Free will be our go-to experts!

First, the heat pump brand was changed in the quote to one that we did not want (Carrier). We were replacing it due to leakage of carbon monoxide. This is obviously a safety concern for us, but also a peace of mind issue. We had discussed using Carrier at the site visit, but I was adamant to avoid it. Second, Brook mentioned that there was a manufacturer's recall on our existing 1-year old Mitsubishi heat pump (we have 2 zones with 2 separate units) and that we should pay him out of pocket to fix it. I was confused, because we received no information regarding a recall and typical costs associated with a recall are not paid by the customer. Furthermore, we hadn't experienced any issues and we're still within the warranty period from the manufacturer and installer. Brook said he had been processing a lot of recalls on units he installed and Mitsubishi was slow to send parts so it's easier to pay him directly for the repair. I contacted the original installer, who we had a very positive experience with initially, and they said there was no recall. I also looked online and couldn't find any information regarding a recall.

Unfortunately, instead of discussing different repair or replacement options, the conversation immediately shifted to a proposal to replace the outdoor unit and evaporator coil for nearly $12,000. My original goal was to explore whether replacing only the outdoor condenser was a viable option, but that was never meaningfully discussed. I also found the estimate to be at the very high end of the market for a single stage system. I paid a $60 diagnostic fee and was told that it would be credited toward the installation if I decided to move forward. However, the estimate I received did not reflect that credit or mention it anywhere. Overall, I left feeling that the visit was focused more on selling a replacement system than helping me find the most practical and cost effective solution.
