What a find! Cozy restaurant with friendly staff, that serves healthy, nutritious, environmentally friendly food! By far one of the best plant based meals I've had in the greater Boston area. My friend and I dined on a Friday mid-afternoon and a Groupon brought us here. It was a lovely day so we sat outdoors where they offer about 5 tables right on the sidewalk. Our server was very friendly, knowledgeable (as we had no idea what most of the menu items were) and attentive. Our Groupon was for $40 so a lot of lunch was to be had. We started with two appetizers: The Guacamole with Chips which were these very tasty vegan crackers and Kale chips with a delicious cheesy sprinkle. Both apps came pretty quickly and we were very good ... a great start! I ordered the Mexican Bowl and my friend, the Thai Bowl. Both were terrific! The Mexican bowl came with a hot sauce on the side, tons of fresh veggies, black beans and delicious hot rice at the bottom. My friend's Thai Bowl had a tasty peanut sauce and big chunks of sunseed burger. Though we were very full, we opted to get dessert "to go". They have a wide selection of vegan and paleo desserts. If you're not a vegetarian, vegan or health nut, there are many options on their menu that you will enjoy! We are both definitely returning and bringing friends! read more

I couldn't eat any of the food since almost everything has onion, onion powder or garlic, or leeks. Allium allergy, is tough. Most restaurants believe onion and garlic is great. People who are allergic to lilies have this sensitivity. I'm simply tired of trial and error, swollen lips and diarrhea. I got a smoothie for $10.65 which is overpriced. read more

I've been here twice, and both times the food has been great. On each occasion, it was early for dinner (around 5) and my mom and I were the only people sitting to eat. We've had the monk's bowl (skip it, because it's not as good as everything else), the onion rings, the pad thai, the beet ravioli, and the pizza. All raw, all good. If you are in need of a sweet, skip everything else and gorge yourself on raw brownies - those things RULE. We brought one home to share and ended up eating most of it on the road! This was my first trip visiting the Organic Garden Cafe based on a Living Social coupon I purchased. Despite traveling about an hour to get to the place, this was well worth the experience. My boyfriend and I both are omnivores (I eat mostly paleo) so it was a great experience as far as gluten free and dairy free dining....even mostly grain free! To start, we both got hot beverages...mint green tea and a delicious hot cup of local coffee. Black bean soup and butternut squash soup which were both delicious each with awesome raw crackers. Simply pad thai was fresh and crunchy. And we got a live pizza half spinach and onion and half "pepperoni". Left with 2 freshly made juices...super green with ginger and a beet/carrot combo juice. Also, the staff was super friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and consistent. Overall this place was absolutely fantastic! I look forward to visiting again on a weekend trip. Be an open minded individual, you will not be disappointed. Definitely a WOW factor in the dining experience. read more

I've been to OG at least a dozen times over the years and the food has always been good. Today I made the mistake of ordering takeout. I'll just write the first part of the phone conversation verbatim: Me: "could I order something to pick up?" Him: "yea" Me: "do you have smoothies?" Him: "yea" Me: "do you have some sort of chocolate peanut butter type of smoothie?" Him: "we don't carry peanut butter" Me: "oh, ok do you have something like that?" Him: "{{audible sigh}} are you familiar with are ingredient list? We don't carry peanut butter. We don't carry any butter." I won't bore you with the details of my smoothie order but there are 2 things here that bothered me: 1 - since when is Peanut Butter "butter"? I've been vegan for years and always have PB. It's non dairy and when it's made fresh, it's also raw. 2 - do I know the ingredient list? SHOULD I have to know the ingredient list to call in a smoothie order?. I didn't appreciate the rude, condescending attitude from that guy. Stupidly, I ordered the smoothie anyway (some sort of Black Forest Berry something or other.) I was 5 min away when I called in the order. The girl that rang me up when I arrived seemed to think it was ridiculous that I thought the smoothie might be made when I walked in. The order took 20 minutes... for a smoothie. That seemed kind of excessive but whatever. The smoothie cost $10.65. WTH? I know the place is organic - as I mentioned, I've been there many times - but that seems kind of pricey for a blended drink. After the 20 minute, $10.65 smoothie was finished I brought it back to my car and took a sip. It promptly went to the nearest trash bin. It tasted disgusting. No hint of berries at all. It didn't really taste like anything. So, this is my review of a place I once considered a 5-star vegan restaurant. I'll never return. There are a lot more vegan choices around than when OG first opened. Go someplace where the people aren't rude and a smoothie costs less than $10. read more

If you're looking for sprouted and/or alternative flour bagels this is your place! The menu is fantastic. Huge variety of healthy dishes. I ordered a cinnamon raisin millet and sunflower flour bagel. It was a bit denser than a normal white flour bagel but I thought it had way more flavor than a normal bagel. The almond butter on it was amazing. I'm going back soon for more of their bagels. We also ordered the Mediterranean Bowl which was packed with goodness. From the quinoa to the falafel and yummy grillo pickles (plus more!) everything worked together and tasted amazing. We also tried the coconut bacon which tasted like real bagel and was very interesting with the coconut flavor added in. Prices were not cheap but it's what you expect to pay for these ingredients and quality. We came away feeling great and very full - there are a lot of options now in downtown Beverly and you should definitely check this one out for a healthy alternative! read more

The last few times I have ordered a bowl for takeout, when I open it up at home, Its basically a slop mess. They gave me 6 pieces of spinach at the bottom (says over a bed of spinach on website, I had to add my own) and then on top of the bowl was what seemed like a gallon of 2 types of sauces. It was like eating tahini and muchi curry sauce soup with some veggies and quinoa. This is coming from a former employee and all I have to say is this place has gone down hill when it comes to the people who prepare their food and I truly believe they all need to be RETRAINED. Stopped by to grab a cup of coffee this weekend but had to walk out after no one even bothered taking my order even though I was standing there for at least 5 minutes. I'm not sure if the two women working Saturday afternoon were racist or simply had terrible customer service, but we were completely ignored. One of them was helping a customer when we arrived, then she started putting food in bags without saying anything. Another woman walks out from the kitchen, comes to the register and makes a call and says nothing to us. I thought ok maybe they are just extra busy with online or takeout orders, I wait without a problem. Both come back to the register shortly after and they started to talk among themselves, and didn't even bothered saying we'll be right with you. We wait and they continue to say nothing. At this point it's obvious they are just ignoring us. We decide to walk out, and they say nothing. If they don't want Latinos buying there, maybe put up a sign saying they don't serve Latinos. read more

The description mentions "heated raviolis," but my meal was cold. Honestly was the biggest waste of money. We went out of our way to visit this spot when we were thrilled to find a vegan friendly spot near salem. The restaurant was rather small, barely fitting more than a handful of people. Not your fault, just something we noticed when we were sitting at a table squished between two other couples eating. We walked in rather confused on what exactly we were supposed to do. We decided to just sit down and wait. It was a Saturday afternoon so we were patient. It took a long time to get acknowledged and we realized that only one server was running the whole room. That poor girl. Eventually we were greeted and she poured us water using a glass jar which we really adored. The server was extremely pleasant. It took awhile for her to come back considering how busy the restaurant was. She puts our order in and I think like 30 minutes later our appetizer of buffalo broccoli comes out. Way too long to get an appetizer to the table. The appetizer was a great introduction though. Really great presentation, full of flavor, and just kept us excited for our main courses. 5 to 10 mins later maybe our side of fries come out and the server apologies that they ran out of fries and just split one order into two portions and just charged us one portion. Thats fine and we appreciated you being honest about this but I also worry that you ran out of fries at 4 in the afternoon on a Saturday. Fries were cold and stale with no seasoning. A few minutes later we are delivered our overpriced wraps. My partner got the buffalo tempeh wrap and I got the burrito. Both were extremely bland and lacked sauce. It was really hard to eat and it was disappointing that they didnt even come with a side. I get that it's very difficult to make money running a restaurant and that the ingredients you get are expensive but you need to deliver value to your customers. The food was cold and bland and the service took forever. It seemed like your cook was making every dish that went into the kitchen one at a time. As a restuarant worker, I understand the inner workings. Everyone had their food, one table was waiting to order, and we still waited awhile. So to get this to a five star location, my recommendation is to try to find a bigger location, hire staff to accommodate, and work on spicing up the food a bit. I know you probably do not make much profit but this was probably the poorest health food spot ive ever been to on top of being the most expensive. The competition doesn't seem to be much around this and you're definently doing alright as a business but it would be great if you strived for better especially since you keep seeing repeat reviews about how expensive and bland the food is. $5 for a side of fries? The best food that I have literally ever had in my life. everything is organic and vegan but also healthy and not fake vegan stuff. almost everything is gluten free. and no peanuts either i read peanuts can cause inflammation. so basically the food here is the healthiest that you can absolutely get. and it f**ing shows. i have done my fair share of drugs and i can tell you i literally feel high after eating this food it makes me feel so good. no bloated or hurt feeling whatsoever which happens to cause inflammation. hands down favorite restaurant ever. might move to beverly for this. i am so satisfied after eating this food no cravings or anything. i think if i purely ate food from the organic garden cafe everyday i would ascend and become the messiah. read more

This is our very favorite restaurant and has been for years. We go at least once or twice a week and love everything on their menu. Some new recent additions have been new favorites like the nachos, air fried french fries and the superfood sundae. But we LOVE the sunseed burger and harvest bowl. It's always hard to decide what to get, but we ALWAYS save room for dessert. The attention to quality is amazing. Everything is made to order so it's super fresh and the fact that so much of what they serve is organic is a high plus. I love my meats n' cheese but this place is pretty awesome. My vegan friend drags me here and I don't even need to slip an emergency beef jerky into my purse to round out my meal. We typically get either the Mexican bowl or the Thai bowls (I love the Thai bowl with Vermicelli rather than brown rice). The buffalo tempeh rocks (so good in the Mexican bowl) and the peanut sauce is so good. The menu also gave me some great inspiration for packing work lunches. Woah, woah, woah. Slow it down, folks! To everyone complaining that "RAWberts ORGANIC GARDEN" is "rabbit food".. well, all I can say is, EARTH TO YELPER! (what I wanted to say included expletives, so I went PG. You're welcome.) This place doesn't pretend to be ANYTHING it's not. In fact, it fully embraces everything that it IS. A peaceful, zen-like (albeit teeny tiny) dining room is home to art-gallery walls, a case of to-go healthy treats, and a handful of tables for diners. Allow me some history... When I was a kid, this place was an ice-cream parlor, and I'm pretty sure it was something else before that. As an ice-cream parlor, it had the standard black-and-white linoleum floors, raspberry-lime rickeys, and was a go-to spot in the summer. When it closed, and Organic Garden moved in, all my 12-year-old self could think was: SALAD INSTEAD OF ICE CREAM!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I spent the next 13 years avoiding the place. Green food, yuck. At 25 and the first of what I presume will be many slowing-downs of my metabolism, I started to embrace a healthier diet and lifestyle. My mom, a huge OG fan, asked me to meet her for lunch there. I perused the intimidating menu...so many quotation marks..."cheez", "chips", "quesadilla". Frankly, I prefer my cheese quesadilla with a side of chips, hold the quotation marks. I tried a monks bowl - lettuce, brown rice, black bean soup, avocado, "cheez", sprouts, and tahini sauce. The thing is MASSIVE. Easily enough food for two. I wolfed the whole thing down, and felt full and satisfied for HOURS. Since that first luncheon many months ago, I meet my mother regularly here for falafel wraps, avocado wraps, more monk bowls, "chips", guacamole, "I am mighty" balls, Jedi smoothies, and anything else on the menu that looks remotely familiar. Service has been consistent and good, although I could use my water refilled more often when the bottle they leave at the table is empty. I'll leave you with this -- don't be intimated by the "vegan"ism or "vegetarian"ism of the place, and don't be put off by the prices. The dishes are generous. They have to be priced high to maintain the superb quality of fresh ingredients. You feel great, guilt-free, and inspired to eat more healthily at home when you leave. While another reviewer said it's a "slam dunk for vegans" (and I'm sure it is), as a non-vegan, non-vegetarian, I think anyone could find a meal or two that would be their "go-to" here. Just try it! The ravioli is heavenly. The taco platter is yummy yummy yummy (though it could use some kick). The margherita pizza is surprising and quite good (get the buckwheat crust, not oat). The chocolate/coconut pudding is better than any Bill Cosby schilled wannabe could even attempt to be(Yeah, that's right! Eat your heart out, cooked pudding!) If you're raw, then this place is the most wonderful luxury of all. Though they do use flour tortillas and very hot water for their soups, EVERYTHING else is raw and vegan. No littany of questions to ask, no eyebrow-raising subsitution requests to negotiate. Just sit your butt down, peruse the menu, pick something that sounds good, and stuff your face! If you're cooked (meat eating or not) you'll likely still enjoy your meal. The food is tasty and interesting, and though it might not ever become your favorite restaurant, you'll likely be pleased that you checked it out. Several points of note: 1. Even if you swear by it, love it, adore it in its cooked form, don't order the raw hummus. Uncooked chickpeas are nast. Plain and simple. 2. Raw does not mean cheap. Bring a wad. 3. I don't reccommend the lasagana special (made even more foul by the $19 pricetag). It was too acidic and the veg was too tough. 4. If you're allergic to nuts, don't bother with a trip here. After friends and i visited the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, we decided to venture to the Organic Garden in nearby Beverly for some quality organic, raw, vegan food. The dining room inspires beatitude with its cool blue and green interior, and mellow staff. Pick a cool beverage from their lengthy selection of teas, juices, and smoothies and start sipping while you review their extensive menu of creative gourmet food. Start off with a savory order of Onion Rings (onion coated with olive oil and seasoned w/ ground flax/sesame/sunflower batter, dehydrated crispy). Follow that with a Spicy Asian Wrap (spiced with ginger, lemongrass & galangal root with teriyaki and cashew butter sauce). For dessert, choose any of their yummy vegan pies. Organic Garden is straightforward and unpretentious, and it is well worth the drive up from Boston. Unfortunately, i have to deduct one star because of their high prices. read more

The restaurant has come a long way since inception when everything used to taste like tamari. Kudos to it for being the first of its kind in MA. In fact, it arrived years ahead of Cohen's Grezzo. If you're feeling froggy and want to leap, try their onion rings, nut butter squash ravioli, anything from their juice bar menu, or dessert case. The concept of consuming live, ripe, alkaline, organic, vegan food has me completely over the moon. It's their execution, and price tags that leave me grounded, and preferring homemade or Grezzo. If lasagna is the day's special, the tomatoes have to be ripe, not reddish and green. The nut "ricotta" has to be fresh, and tasty. The expectation when dining out is the food will be better than you make at home. Particularly when lunch for 2 can cost as much as dinner for 2 at a mid priced restaurant. (This is Beverly 01905, not Beverly 90210.) Servers are friendly and blend in well with the hippy-ish decor, lacking a few tall lava lamps, and marijuana plants.
