My two year old loves going into Organic Roots for smoothies. We have made it our Saturday morning tradition to go in for smoothies. He's turned into a picky eater lately and refuses to have veggies so I tend to grab a green machine smoothie for him which he absolutely loves! Recently picked up two different batches of fresh kale, potatoes, & a glowing bottle of one of my favorite reds (the coveted Montepulciano) @ this local haunt. I have driven by it but never went in, due to my avoidance of all mall-related traffic. To my delight, it is like a mini Whole Foods (I am always complaining about how Temecula could really use a Whole Foods), with fresh produce, a smoothie bar, lots of organic products for skin and bath, in addition to the cute little deli section. I saw there was a Kale pesto white cheddar pasta sauce that I may get on a future trip. Made a simple dinner with the ingredients I bought, adding it to ground turkey, chicken, and red onion that I already had in my fridge. I think I walked around the store just in awwww- that I had found my local oasis. What a fun place to gather fresh seasonal foods, while exploring other products for health and fitness. My cashier helped me sign up for their points or system as it was my first time there. Sorry, forgot his name but super friendly with bleached hair and told me he liked my tan LOL. Very frustrating when sold a bad rotten product from vitamins and there's nothing they can do except for refer you to the manufacturer who probably will not refund me is what I am told. How do you sell bad products to your consumer and do not make an exception for an exchange, store credit at the very least. They will not return unless it hasn't been opened well.. how did I know it was rotten? Would they have put it back on the shelf ? Then the next consumer purchases a bad item? Vitamins especially probiotics are very expensive and it's not the consumers fault for picking up a bad product. I know how these products come in via crates and if they are not kept refrigerated and put away right away they will go bad. This is not the way to maintain customer satisfaction, I don't take this lightly as I am a single mom on a single income and there's nothing this business can do. It's gross especially since I spend a lot of money and gave roots the majority of my business compared to other competitor health food stores. Unfortunately I will not be unless I absolutely have to. This is an awesome place for health-body food items. Please don't come here for the prices, they are not the lowest. But they have products and food choices that are good for you. I need to go back to try a few things, a bit challenging since it is located a hour away. But I fell in love with their Juice bar. I had a bowl called Something Nerd (I don't recall) but it was the best I've ever had. I even bought the local honey that was in the bowl (bananas, strawberry, etc)...just fantastic! Roots is great. I mostly shop there for their meat. I often order a leg of lamb and Joe cuts and wraps it to perfection. I have to say that the way he wrapped my ground beef today was wonderful too. He's considerate, helpful and funny. I also had the experience today of conversing with James, the produce manager. I'm a long time customer of roots and expect check out clerks to make pricing mistakes, however, if pointed out the pricing error I expect to have it corrected. Last week I was charged $11 for asparagus I didn't purchase, I called roots the next day and notified them then a couple days later brought back the receipt. The manager said it was not the policy to correct the mistake; they made me feel as if I was a thief. They were the one trying to steal from me. How insulting. This place was a pleasant surprise! I was driving through and wanted a green juice. I called in my order. The girl was nice over the phone and suggested a popular green juice. To be honest I can't remember exactly what was in the juice or the name but I know it had celery, paisley....it was one of the popular picks. It was very good! Very fresh! Such a hoity-toity, nose in the air type of market. I've never felt like I belonged in here and they always have the most unhelpful workers on the floor. We walked in circles for a hot minute looking for an item with all these kids just talking amongst each other while trying their best to ignore you. Organic Roots is my 'one stop shop' for my nutrition needs. I take advantage of their 'grass fed to finish' beef and dairy products. I also purchase my poultry and pork at their butcher shop. The produce is also organic and fresh. After my three times a week tennis sessions I stop by for a protein shake at their Juice bar. The made to order sandwich bar and soup bar are often my lunch option. Of course, I often shop at the hot food bar to take home my evening meal. I can't forget how comprehensive and fresh their salad bar is. I often take advantage of their cool and clean dining area. Oh, I also find their products are competitively and fairly priced. A small whole foods in the heart of Temecula. This was intimate and inciting. There is ample parking and as you enter there are hand sanitizers that smell good. The space is small with high ceilings so you don't feel cramped. I like the size and you can find everything you need. It's like whole foods and sprouts had a baby this is the place. They have unique products and price point is affordable for some things and the exotic fruits are more on the high end. Staff is friendly and able to help when you look lost or new in their store. The store is clean and smells good. It's organized, has a small cute bakery and around the corner of the bakery is an area you can eat. It's nice to have a local market catering toward organic and healthy alternatives. This place more so reminds me of Mother's Market or Jimbo's. I do miss living closer to a Whole Foods which carry specific items you can't find elsewhere, but in a pinch I've been coming here. I've been in a few times since moving here and finally had a moment to try the hot food bar. A lot of items were gone because I ordered towards the end of the night, but I enjoyed the teriyaki tofu and butternut squash. I also ordered a piece of salmon on the side. Everything came well packaged and warm. It all comes unseasoned except for the teriyaki tofu which obviously had sauce to give it flavor. It was a quick and easy meal that I appreciated, but I'm more so typing this review to call attention to this and for customers and the owner to take note. I know another reviewer had mentioned finding molded potatoes in her bag. Well, I unfortunately purchased a loaf of bread that molded as well. I didn't know until I drove all the way home because it was on the back side of the loaf. I didn't bother to grab a receipt and since I live on the other side of town, decided to just call it a wash. Shame on me I guess. So PSA -please check your items before leaving to make sure there is nothing wrong. I've delayed a few days before writing this review to give myself time to calm down.My son and I have been loyal customers at Organic Roots since they were at their previous location, spending several hundred dollars there every month. But we will NEVER go back because of an employee named Liz. On Oct. 9 we purchased $79.22 on food, not including our 2 smoothies. When we returned home, I started preparing dinner, using the 3 pound bag of red potatoes we had just purchased. However, a terrible stench arose from the bag of rotten potatoes. Let the attached photos speak for themselves! I immediately called Organic Roots and told them. The woman said to bring them back. I replied that I couldn't for several days and didn't want to keep rotten potatoes in my condo. However, I'd be happy to send her photos. She checked with a manager and said to not worry, just bring the receipt back within 30 days. Can you imagine my surprise when Liz mocked and ridiculed me when I handed her the receipt and explained the situation to her? She actually said that I lying to her because it wasn't store policy. She snidely asked if I thought Organic Roots was stupid enough to refund money to anyone who came in with a receipt. I asked if she could check on who was acting manager on Oct 9 because she would find that I was telling the truth. Oh no she wouldn't. I told her that this was the first time in about 15 years that I had ever returned anything to the store and I was not a liar. She wrote out a pink return slip when I said I was going to write a review on Yelp. Have you ever been so embarrassed in front of other shoppers for 4 bucks? I'm 72 years old and I will never accept such verbal abuse. What kind of training do the employees receive here? Luckily there are several nearby stores where I can spend my money. My wife and I are really focused on finding the very best quality foods free of hormones, gmo's, pesticides and all the other junk that doesn't belong in your food and or/ other personal and household product. This place makes it very easy and stress free. You'll still need to check the labels on some product but way less than you would at let's say Sprouts. Very high quality meats and poultry(grass fed and grass finished) which is a must for me. I love that they have a juice bar we always take a growler to go. The deli is great if you're looking for a quick bite. It's not the cheapest by any means but considering you only get one body it's an investment I am willing to make. After spending my money at places like Sprouts and Whole Foods, it was refreshing to find a store, the entire store dedicated to everything "organic". What a vast selection. We had a heyday here. Even partook of the hot prepared foods. Some looked better than others, but the grilled veggies and the healthy chili were two that were surprisingly tasty. They even had a seating area for casual dining. The store has a huge bulk section. A vast selection of beans, nuts, cereals, grains, sweets and snacks. The meat section may not measure up to a standard grocery in variety and volume, but if you ask me about the beautiful pork chops we purchased, I will get a sentimental tear in my eye. Not cheap by any means, but some of the best tasting ever. We were also able to find organic chicken backs to make our own bone broth. All meats are pasture raised, hormone free, antibiotic free. They offer a huge selection of supplements, lotions, hygiene products. I had been recently told about Bulletproof brand products (look it up, they do coffee beans, powdered collagen protein, collagen snack bars (made from cashew) that are out of this world, health drinks), and lo and behold they carried this brand here. Yes, our lifestyle has certainly changed in the past few months.. And it is hard to find the pasture raised meats, organic fruits and veggies, nuts, and so on that are supposed to be a part of our daily food intake.
