Originally, I wasn't gonna eat at this place. But the sushi place I usually went to was closed. So this was the rebound. I'm glad I went here though because the food is pretty good. And they also have $5 rolls, if you want to save on money. The rolls are pretty filling too and they give enough fish. The chefs were really fast and the place is lowkey so you get your food really quick. The server was nice and he was able to sit down and explain to us the best meals, deals, and take out services the place managed. Overall the place was quiet. Not the best experience. I wasn't extremely happy with my visit to Orient House Chinese & Sushi. The wait time was way too long, which seemed to be due to them being short-staffed -- only a man and a woman were working the front and trying to manage everything. I get it, but it definitely affected the overall experience. The food itself was just okay -- nothing to rave about. What really threw me off was the smell inside the restaurant. It had this lingering old scent that made the place feel a bit unclean or just... tired. On top of that, every time someone walked through the door, this super loud buzzer would go off. It was honestly distracting and extremely annoying throughout the meal. The whole place feels like it needs a serious remodel. Some updated decor, better ventilation, and maybe a quieter door system would go a long way. It has potential, but right now, it's not somewhere I'd rush back to. read more

Let's call this one: "Never in my life did I think I'd hate a Crab Rangoon, until now" Exactly what I said... this place made a crab Rangoon soooo bad we couldnt even eat them. Yes, you read that right. When I tell you this food was so horrifically inedible... the crab Rangoon smelled sooo bad when we opened the box up I knew something was off. One bite into it and I am not kidding when I say I gagged. The worst, most pungent sour fish taste I've ever had in my life. There wasn't even any cream cheese just shreds of very clearly old, spoiled, imitation crab. (Pictured) Had we actually somehow been able to get this down- judging by the smell and taste I'm positive we would've ended up with food poisoning. Aside from the Rangoon we also got sushi, which 1. Also smelled very off and 2. should honestly not even be allowed to be called that it was so bad. Like gas station sushi rolled by someone with a blindfold on. We also got General Tsaos chicken (inedible rubber) Cashew Beef (shoe leather) and Egg rolls, which according to my boyfriend were tolerable. The food was the worst food I have had in all my 30+ years of life. The only thing that was edible was the egg rolls, and I said edible- not good. To be honest I am extremely shocked this place is still operational. I realize this review sounds incredibly harsh but unfortunately there is no nice way to put any of this and I take issue with the staff even allowing food like that to go out the door- they have a responsibility to ensure their food is safe for the consumer. We have seen this place many times and wanted to try it but seems every we went there it was closed. We finally found it open one day and went in. We see the reviews were good for food. We had to experience the two folks working there, I assume husband and wife, continuously arguing, not very pleasant atmosphere. Food was not great, lots of flies, cost was more than other places. Have put off coming here for the longest time because I thought it was your typical "mall Chinese food"... boy was I wrong. When you walk in you are greeted by a happy man, who's wife, who is from China, is the cook, so you know all the recipes are authentic with her own "homemade feel" spin. I had the Dragon Roll, as pictured, and it was by far the best dragon roll I've ever had. For the price, which is about the same you'd pay anywhere for a dragon roll, it is incredibly filling and loaded with eel, crab (might be imitation, I'm not sure), and crunchy onions. This place used to be my little hidden gem. I would come here on my lunch break and get a good $5 sushi roll but lately I've had to wait longer and longer FOR THEM TO OPEN THE DOOR. Even though the door says they open at 11, that's never the case. Today was the last straw. I placed my online order at 11 and it said it would be ready at 1130. I work very close by so I got to the parking lot no later than 1110, of course they were still closed. That's okay, I was early. 1130 comes and goes and I verify the door is indeed locked and nobody is letting me in. I called at 1145 to say I just want to cancel my order because I have to get back to work. A man tells me "no come now, it's ready, give me 10 minutes". I start saying "I've already waited long enough" but he hung up on me. I got out of my car since I was still in the parking lot and the door was still locked. So disappointed. read more

Absolutely terrible food and customer service was as equally awful. The restaurant is under new ownership and the it has gone down hill. A husband and wife are the new owners, and the husband was rude and condescending when I asked a question about an item on the menu when picking up my to-go order. It was then that I realized that Orient House was under new ownership. The previous owners were very kind... but not this guy. He was a jerk. Prior to ordering, my husband and I had stopped by several times for lunch or dinner and the restaurant doors were always locked even though the "open" sign was on. This place used to be one my family's favorites. We will never go back after the way I was spoken to. I'd give zero stars if I could. read more

Not a thing to complain about at Orient House!!! We stopped in for lunch after exploring some of our state parks. We arrived at 2 and they were closing at 2:30, but they welcomed us in. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was served quick, hot, and delicious! And the restaurant was clean. We had fried rice, spicy chicken lo mein, pad Thai, and a spicy tuna sushi roll. We have gone here a few times! Their POKE BOWLS ARE SOOOO GOOD. Considering spring lake has very limited food options this was such a great find. A friend recommended and we probably go weekly now. I'm pretty picky when it comes to fish or poke and I haven't been let down. read more

We got the sesame chicken which was a little to saucy for me and I felt like the chicken was to breaded BUT it was fresh and hot, we also got the Mongolian beef which was eh. Food is average at best and stay away from the sushi! Its mushy and watery! While the inside of the building looks great its nothing more than panda express style chinese food that isnt even as good. I ordered and watched as they prepared my order from a handful of already pre sliced fish. I was skeptical after seeing all the fish already prepped but the roll looked tasty. I ate it and it was bland. I typically order salmon rolls when ordering sushi but this had little of the sweet buttery taste that accompanied a good piece of salmon. The rice underneath had more of a taste than any of my fish. It was not terrible but given the choice I would order from somewhere else first. read more

Orient House​ is an okay place to eat in a pinch. On my first few visits to this place​​, I was excited that there was actually a sushi place nearby​. The menu has a good amount of variety and it is not that bad. The portions in which they make their plates are plenty generous and probably worth a try. Although the owner and employees are nice, it doesnt really make up for the inexperienced. You would have to have​ eaten sushi in a variety of places to understand.
