    A true Seattle and Pike Place institution! On my most recent trip here on a Saturday morning, I got the half and half: a half order of salmon sinigang and then I opted for the longanisa. I also got two lumpia as well! The sinigang was addicting I could not stop drinking the broth. It had a nice sour flavor that I could not resist. The longanisa had the perfect amount of sweetness and texture and the lumpia was nice and crispy with an amazing filling! Limited seating here as it is counter only if you are dining in but it is so good!! Also the workers are super nice and friendly and checked in on you!

    This isn't a standard pike place food stall--it's a high-stakes audition where the prize is lunch. The line moves best when everyone is understands what's at stake. You're expected to know your order, say it clearly, pay immediately, and slide down the counter like you've trained for it. Hesitate, ask a question, or make a joke and you can feel Auntie Lie, the owner, giving you the once over. I ordered the salmon sinigang and the longanisa, unfortunately, they were amazing. This is Filipino home style food- rustic, rich, flavorful, well seasoned--and after walking all day in the cold rain, it was like coming home. Auntie Lie behind the counter served it like she was issuing a warning, not a meal. Just kidding- she actually was warm and friendly. She said, "you come here before? You know exactly the right things to order". I didn't tell her it was out of fear and admiration for how she handled the tourist in front me. Just kidding . I sat at the side bar, enjoyed my meal and enjoyed reading her many notes and pictures with folk who've been longtime fans. This stall has baked in character, and in the bustle of tourists, eating here and watching it all was a great ambience. Worth it? Yes. This is a must needed spot to visit at pike place. If it isn't, don't tell Auntie Lie.

    Always so comforting and delicious came right when they opened on a Sunday, has been awhile since I've had a chance to dine here. Love being able to chat Auntie Lei. My friend and I shared the Trust Me Plate we had both been wanting to try it for awhile.. and were also lucky enough to get a couple of Auntie's wings. Every one is always friendly and food comes out fast. One of the fun parts is reading the signs while you're sitting at the lunch counter

    This is my first time here and I can definitely see why it's so highly rated. It's in pike place, and they are popular as there was already a line right when they open. They only have a few seatings so either you have to wait or do take out or fine seating elsewhere. The person taking our order is very friendly. She treated us like a friend rather than a customer. We ended up getting 1/2 sinigang and pork adobo. It was a good portion. Both was very tasty. The pork was very tender and soft and the dish itself was balanced. The sinigang was definitely sour but in a good way. My husband loved it. The only reason for a 4 star is because I think it's pricey. The food is good but I don't think it justifiy for the price. It was $28 for what we got.

    It was not good at all. Just being honest here. Everything is watery even the inside of the longanisa. Not sure why people like this place. Location: It is located at Pike Place Market. You have to go inside of the market and it looks like an eatery. There is only bar chairs so its a little bit uncomfortable. There is a line when I went there. Service: they were nice and apologetic about the line. Food: Everything was not good. This is not how Filipino dish should be made. LONGANISA: i dont know but the sausage is very watery inside, it could be good if it is not soggy. The rice is not cooked as well it has too much water. The noodles that comes with it is bland. ADOBO: this is not how adobo should he made. It was watery and there is no adobo flavor. I felt like they boiled it in water and put soy sauce on it. It is very watery. SINIGANG na SALMON: this might be a little better. Its sour but the salmon is the head so there is not that much meat on it. Price rating: 10/10. Very expensive for not so good meal. around $22 per meal. Never will come back here. I felt that people that come here never tasted what a real Filipino food supposed to taste like.

    No frills, no fuss. You order at the counter, then sit down and they bring the food to you. And this is a storied place at Pike Place, and the wall of visitors and recognitions lets you know its past. It certainly is a home cooked food experience, you are seeing them cook right in front of you. I got a half and half - so salmon tip sinigang soup and chicken adobo which came with pancit (noodles) and garlic rice. The soup is so perfect on a rainy day. It warms from within, the herbal sour notes. It's not heavy, it's light but it is definitely plentiful. Just be careful of the fish bones. The vinegary chicken adobo is also like a hug in a bowl, eaten with the rice. Would absolutely recommend anyone who visits Pike Place to not miss this place.

    I came with my fiancé to Pike Place around 2pm on the 4th of July. Unsurprisingly, the market was incredibly crowded and everything had a long line. We were so hungry and by some miracle found Oriental Mart which did not have a line at the time. I had read very good reviews online about it and know they won a Classics James Beard award back in 2020. They were sadly out of everything (including the salmon sinigang) but they did have chicken adobo so we ordered two. The kind woman at the counter offered to give us leftover broth from the salmon sinigang though to try for free! I ordered a lumpia on the side as well to try. This is such a cute casual spot in the market that offers some counter seating around the sides of the business. The place feels super comfy, homey, and welcoming. For our food: - Lumpia: super crispy and delicious! The filling was generous and had the perfect level of savory which really contrasted that addictive sweet/sour lumpia sauce. These are thin but pretty long so you can easily share! - Chicken adobo: what a filling and nourishing plate!The chicken was tender and fell off the bone. The seasoning was perfect and not over salted (if anything under salted for a restaurant) but to me that made it taste so homemade! This came with a side of the fluffiest white rice, and delicious pancit. It was my first time trying pancit but I loved it! The noodles had the perfect thin texture and flavor, combined with the texture of the veggies... divine. - Salmon sinigang: like I had said, we only tried the broth since they had ran out by then but this was delicious! The soup is sour, aromatic, umami, and has hints of salmon which make it feel healing and warm. I definitely want to come back to try the full plate. Overall, this cute little stall offers delicious Filipino food that tastes homemade and authentic. I loved how casual it feels and nourishing the meal was. Would come back in the future to try more dishes (and get more pancit!!) Definitely a gem in Pike Place!

    Oriental Mart is a familiar and long time lunch spot that serves Filipino comfort food in the heart of Pike Place Market. The dishes are classic "carinderia" style and exemplifies Filipino home cooking. Their service was warm with a smile. Their bar top seating arrangement brings back childhood memories of road side eateries in the Philippines. For lunch, I decided to stick with the usual chicken adobo plate and a two piece order of lumpia. The order came with side of pancit and steaming hot rice. The chicken was tender, flavorful, and had a perfect balance of vinegar and soy sauce. The pancit was also delicious and went well with the adobo plate. The lumpia was crispy, well-seasoned, and fresh out of the fryer. It wasn't until I was done with my food that I noticed a banner mentioning Oriental Mart's 2020 James Beard award. There's also a wall of handwritten notes to customer located just behind the seating area. The piquant wit made me chuckle and was a nice read as I ended my meal.

    I first saw Oriental Mart on YouTube with Marcus Samuelsson, so I knew I had to check it out. Tucked in the heart of Pike Place Market, this Filipino food stall is a cultural gem. There was a line when I arrived, but it moved fast so that was not an issue at all. I ordered the Longanisa plate with garlic rice, pancit, and sweet vinegar sauce. I also asked for the rice to be smothered in adobo sauce. I would probably skip it next time since it clashed a bit with the Longanisa. Still, everything was packed with flavor. The Longanisa was tender and sweet, balanced perfectly by the savory garlic rice. And I'm not even a pancit fan, but I finished every bite of that! Now the lumpia? Absolute star. It was made fresh when I ordered, insanely crispy, and somehow still melted in my mouth. Also Don't assume they're the typical bite-sized kind, they're HUGE!! Don't make the same mistake I made and order 4, unless you are super hungry. Overall, Oriental Mart is a must-try spot in Seattle, especially if you're craving authentic Filipino comfort food. The service was very welcoming, they were very fast and efficient, and I can tell they cook every meal with love.

    When I'm in the mood for a quick Filipino food fix, I head over to Oriental Mart in Seattle, WA. I was shopping at Pike Place and decided to give it a visit, since I haven't eaten from here in awhile. The menu changes every day, depending on what Aunty feels like making! It is a family-owned small business, ao please be patient with them when ordering and waiting on food. Some of the items that I have seen sold here is sinigang, porkgasantis, lumpia, and many more! - *Longanisa *Pancit *Chicken Adobo - Aunty and staff are always nice. You can dine in if you want, but just know it is counter seatting and very limited space. I would suggest taking it to-go if you want to avoid crowds or want a quieter spot to eat at. This spot is hit or miss tbh on consistency, but I rated it a 4 because I've had more good meals than off one's from here.

    Auntie Lei's food is very satisfying. We had the Salmon Sinigang and the Pork Adobo. Both were pretty good. When we were there someone from the fish mart where they toss the fish was bringing over a fresh bag of the salmon collars. The meat of the salmon collars was really nice in the sinigang. It's the kind of home style food which I would be happy eating every day, which is not true when it comes to restaurant food in general. Auntie Lei and the person who took our order were really gracious. It was still before opening time and she took our order and served our food and was simply nice. Autie Lei was busy cooking but still found time to share with us. We watch Youtube videos of Matt Norman a lot and she told us that he had Thanksgiving with them and brought a brisket that he had slow cooked over 2 days. Genuine and nice person.

    DON'T SKIP THIS PLACE! Huge shoutout to Infatuation IG for the recommendation, because this spot is so easy to miss--it's tucked behind a market! Tiny little joint with some bar seating, but it feels like you've just crashed a family dinner. The sinigang? *Perfectly* sour. And the salmon belly? Total game-changer. Plus, they serve everything with rice *and* pancit, so you'll be stuffed to the brim. I couldn't finish it all, which turned out to be a blessing because our hotel had a microwave, and I got to enjoy it again later. Win-win! Also, the signs posted around the kitchen are entertaining, and the vibe is so chill--listening to the staff tsismis felt like crashing a family party. This place was pure joy, honestly. Proof that great things come in small packages. 10/10, would definitely come back!

    As of July 2021, on which days is lunch available here? Trying to plan a visit, but don't want to miss the food if it's not every day.

    They are open every day for lunch other then monday. It is a lunch counter that opens at 11 and closes when shes out of food or 4pm. Whatever occurs 1st.

    Does this restaurant offer delivery, I've looked everywhere on delivery apps but can't find it? Also, the link to their Facebook website seems broken to me.

    I don't believe they do delivery. They don't have a real big menu right now they have a table set on the side facing the street that goes through the market and you can order from a list of items available.

    What are the hours for getting the salmon sinigang? I am getting conflicted info- are they open from 9-6pm or only for lunch 11-3?

    11-3pm Thur-Sun or until they run out of food. This is just temporary until the next phase.

    Can I order for togo? I would like to try the sinigang but i live quite far away so i wanna buy a bunch then save jt for later

    Yes, I recall a few people ordering to go orders!! The line can be long but worth it.

    Do they serve dinuguan there daily or is it a special dish only served once in a while?

    Just once in awhile but if you call and ask for Leila she will let you know what day she'll make it

I ordered the lunch plate, which came with chicken adobo, pancit, rice and pickled veggies. My lunch plate was solid. Chicken adobo was tender and really, really liked how vinegar-y the flavor was, which, any Filipino would tell you that all food tastes better with vinegar! Pancit wasn't bad, but not the best. Some of the noodles were on the dry side, but I did like the cabbage and green onion throughout. Pickled veggies were a nice addition, adding more sour flavor to the overall entree. For someone who hardly ever has Filipino food and desperately misses mom's cooking, I was just happy to have Salu-Salo bring some adobo to the area. I would definitely recommend checking out Salu-Salo if you ever see their stand around. They don't update their social media channels, unfortunately, so is a little difficult to find where their stand will be. And when I asked if they participate in any markets, they do not. But the owners did mention that they visit downtown Seattle often at other office buildings around. Therefore, I have a feeling I'll be seeing them soon and getting my Filipino cuisine on. (Plus, bonus points for the owner being from the Bicol region of the Philippines, which is where my mom's side is from. Love that!)

Salu-Salo offers a wide variety of dishes with unique flavor profiles. With some of the dishes, I can't compare them to anything I have ever tried before. For example, my favorite dish on the menu is the Laing Express, which is made with coconut milk, taro leaves, topped with a delicious crispy piece of pork belly. With a topping of pork belly, how could anything go wrong? This dish has an amazing earthy flavor, with a bit of a kick to it. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. How often to you get to eat purple desserts? Ube cake gets its color from purple yams! Salu-Salo's ube coconut topped ube cheesecake balls are not just adorable, they are addicting. Not overwhelmingly sweet, and perfect for sharing, these are a treat. For those with dietary restrictions, Salu-Salo is a great option because there are plenty choices. As someone who is gluten free, all of the main dishes are fair game. This is often very rare when dining out for me!! Here's to Salu-Salo for exposing Seattleites to what Filipino food is all about. Rosario's cuisine feels like a healthy take on comfort food. Each dish bursting with flavor, yet still accessible to all ages. The idea behind comfort food is all about the thought that goes into the prep. After tasting Salu-Salo's food, I promise you can tell a lot of care goes into the preparation of each dish. I am looking forward to this becoming a Seattle institution, and hope it inspires more Filipino cuisine to start popping up in the PNW.

Now, service is still an issue. There was one server/cashier and I felt really sorry for her. She was doing her best to keep a smile on her face, and I wanted to give her flowers or something. We had several dishes that filled us and had left overs to take home. Pinapaitan had the right bitterness and well balanced-not overwhelming from what I've experienced in the past. We had 2 breakfast plates: Bang-silog and the Tapsilog. I also ordered tortas talong. I thought we went overboard but I'm sure we can eat the rest at home with no problem.
