Chicken Feet, Shumai, Har Gow, and Fried Shrimp Ball
    Michelle H.

Oriental Pearl Restaurant is another dim sum spot in Metro Atlanta. I believe they recently reopened, so when I went for the first time, it was pretty busy inside. The space is not as big as other dim sum places, but it is located in the Atlanta Chinatown strip so there is not a lot of space to begin with. Parking was annoying to find for Sunday brunch, but it was doable. As for service, I thought the rolling carts were a bit slow and at times, it seemed like our servers forgot our requests. I did family style with my friends and we got several dishes, including Chicken Feet, Har Gow, and Shumai. I judge dim sum places by their Chicken Feet and this one needed more sauce as it tasted a bit plain. I also thought that the Fried Shrimp Ball and Har Gow, while generous in shrimp portion, tasted bland as well. I wanted the soy sauce and chili oil to add more flavor to the food, but the soy sauce tasted a bit sweet... as if it was meant for dumplings... and the chili oil was not that spicy, which was disappointing. My friends agreed that the food could use a bit more seasoning overall. As for pricing, it was $5.50 for small, medium, and large dim sum plates but not sure how long that will last. The tea was technically $2 per person, but free at the time I went (possibly because it was the grand reopening). Overall, I think that this spot was alright. Not my favorite for dim sum in Atlanta. But definitely check it out for yourself as there are non-dim sum options too such as an a la carte menu of Chinese dishes.

Before 12/25 I used to love the Peking duck here! It actually had meat on the skin! The food is always been good here and I've always enjoyed eating here I was so anxious when they closed down. And when I went back for my birthday I was very excited to be able to order my duck again. Unfortunately, it was a huge contrast from what I was expecting so much that, I had to write another review that was so disappointing. See my other review update in March 2026.

The restaurant is beautiful inside, with elegant linens and tablecloths that create a warm and upscale atmosphere. The service was outstanding from everyone, including the staff and servers, who were friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. The food was absolutely delicious, served fresh and presented nicely. The prices were also very reasonable for the quality of the meal and experience. I only wish I lived closer because I would dine here all the time!

Favorite spot for Dim Sum! New owners are very nice. Go early and get this awesome spread.

The remodel was a big sham. I came in with a group of 7 people. The self rotating lazy Susan was cool, but where we were sitting the AC wasn't working and the whole meal felt hot humid and muggy. It didn't help that the servers rarely visited our table and only refilled our water glasses once. When I did flag down a server, she awkwardly said she wasn't our server and refused to help. The food wasn't much better either. Chicken feet was soft, no texture, and tasteless, egg tarts were also bland. The spare ribs as well were rubbery. The Chinese broccoli was super oily. The only good thing I ate was the sesame balls, which were probably bought from a wholesale distributor. We asked for beef ho fun and radish cakes but they never arrived. They also overcharged us on these "big plates", even though the deal said 5.50$ for all plates. At this point I didn't care to argue over the bill. Probably my worst dimsum experience ever.

This place was just renovated and is now under new ownership/management. The dining area is now bright and clean. The staff and manager/owner we talked to were all very personable. The food was tasty without being overly salty. Prices are reasonable and portions were quite generous. The only issue I had was that a few of our orders were incorrect. I think that could be because it's "soft opening" right now. There was a rush of people that the kitchen staff was likely unprepared for, so it got a little chaotic. I am sure they will improve.

We haven't stopped talking about this restaurant since we left. The staff was welcoming and took the time to educate us on a few things which was super cool. Everything we ate was amazing. The only thing we regret is that we filled up on dumplings mostly and didn't save room for other dishes. Can't wait to go back for more.

The food here is alright - I might just have super high expectations growing up with houston chinese food, but nothing here was outstanding. My party of 4 came for dinner and we did part dim sum, part dinner entrees. Of all the items we ordered, I thought the walnut shrimp was the best! The shrimps are massive - truly some of the largest I've ever seen. They offer dim sum all day, but their dinner dim sum options are quite limited. I would say the siu mai was a little different than normal... wasn't the biggest fan. The interior is nice and is decorated like a classic chinese banquet restaurant. Overall I think the pricing is a bit steep to justify the average food.

What's the latest dim sum is served?

    Do they serve alcohol?

    Yes

Do they do cart service on weekdays?

    Yes they do!

Is mask required for indoor dining?

    No.

What hours and days do they serve the dim sum?

    I remember it's served till 3 pm.

I have only gone to a Dim Sum house like once in my life, forever ago. Is there a specific time of day that they do the Dim Sum carts or is it part of the regular menu? How does this work? Thanks!

It happens for brunch. Sunday is the big day to experience it. I would suggest going on a Sunday at 12:00PM. While very busy at this time, it is when all of the dishes being served that day are sure to be available.

Having been at least once every couple months for years, it's our Chinese comfort food as dim sum is meant to be. Although I would recommend arriving at anytime they are open, we find the absolute best time for dim sum is to arrive right at opening on Saturday or Sunday. This time lets us beat the wait, get a great table fast, and the food is super plentiful, hot and fresh out of the kitchen. The chrysanthemum tea is a must have and complements the food as a perfect, tasty, and just sweet enough palate cleanser (although I would prefer to add the rock sugar myself to my tea, they serve it with sugar already inside the pot). For the absolute best pairing with your chrysanthemum tea, make sure to save room for the awesome pineapple buns while supplies last. They were out today and we all collectively cried (will be going back just for the pineapple buns soon...we are just not complete without them!). We love all the dishes, but our absolute favorites (outside of the pineapple buns) are the pork spare ribs with black bean, the beef rice rolls/noodles, shrimp dumplings, and turnip cakes. Add some spicy sauce to the spare ribs and turnip cakes to really set them off! For iced coffee lovers who like it really strong, don't pass up on the iced coffee. It has legs that are strong enough to walk, but completely complements the dim sum with a little extra boost to help you enjoy the day. So, I challenge others to find a better dim sum place in Atlanta. That is why Canton House earns my 5th star and looking forward to getting my pineapple buns (really) soon!

We started with the flower tea, amazing choice! Sweet and warming, nicely aromatic. Perfect start. Then the dim sum carts rolled in and we chowed down. DISHES I ORDERED - Siu Mai: Not the best I've had. Quite oily on the outside, but the flavor isn't bad. It does...taste like siu mai. It's just nothing spectacular - Chinese Broccoli: A classic! Very good - Beef Chow Fun: A very chewy and bouncy home made flat noodle dish. Savory, salty, and flavorful! Good amount of tender beef too. - Shrimp Balls: Crispy and fried on the outside, yummy, with good big shrimp ball. Yummy classic sweet and sour sauce too. Delicious - Egg Rolls: Good, not too oily, a normal egg roll - Spare ribs: Possibly my favorite dish! Tender, not too chewy, good savory sweet flavor. -- Overall, it's not bad but it's nothing to write home about. My favorite item was probably the spare ribs. The rest were standard in my opinion. However, service is fast since it is dimsum, so perfect to eat when hungry! Also great ambiance for big group parties or hangouts!

We were a party of 5 and found both the food and the service to be inconsistent. The Food: Most dishes were mediocre or worse. The Three Cups Chicken (1/5) was the worst I've ever had. The Hong Kong Style Shrimp (1/5) was just bland, tasteless fried shrimp. The Lamb with Scallion (2/5) was far too salty. The only "average" dish was the Spicy Beef and Tendon (3/5), but one decent dish can't save a meal this poor. The Service & Billing: The service was quite slow during our visit. We waited a long time for the check and eventually ended up packing our own leftovers and heading to the front counter to pay so we could head out. I was also surprised to see an automatic 20% gratuity added to the bill, especially since it was calculated on the total after tax ($23.07 tip on a $106.80 subtotal). While I understand automatic tips for groups, it felt a bit high due to poor services. There are a lot of great dining spots in the area, but based on this disappointing visit, I'm sure I would not return to this one.

It's really delicious and perfectly seasoned and plenty to share. I think the young man at the counter was having a bad day or a bit overworked because he wasn't very pleasant but I do appreciate him telling me sorry for the long wait, because it took a while to get my chicken, but it was just a busy time around lunch. It was worth the weight though. Next time I want to try those meatballs they really looked delicious and someone I was with ordered them and they had my mouth watering. And also, I got the barbecue pork on rice and the Singapore rice noodles from Hong Kong BBQ. The noodles have three different meats in it and I believe curry seasoning. The flavors are delicious. The barbecue pork over rice was pretty simple and plain, but I do appreciate that it comes with some steamed bok choy because it's nice to have a good balance of some vegetables in there with all the starch and pork. There's plenty of seating so if you go with a family or a larger group, you should be good to go and there's a place to seating outside. We ordered pan fried buns and instead received Chinese donuts in the bag :( I didn't realize it until we got home, but I never had an issue with this place so it didn't occur to me that they prepared (or packed?) the wrong thing. If I ever return, I'll know to do better than expect the correct order and check everything before heading out. The crab rangoon was still flavorful but whatever dough they wrapped it with this time was so freaking tough that it cut the top of my mouth. My jaw should not get a workout from eating crab rangoon of all things. Another disappointment in the bag. But the beef entree we ordered was good, yet overshadowed by the other letdowns of the night's visit given that I can't really remember what exactly we ate. I'm going to remove another star for the unhygienic practices I witnessed that I was perhaps blissfully ignorant of my last time visiting. It's hard to look past a server comfortably coughing into their hand and proceeding to handle multiple patrons' plates and orders without as much of a squirt of sanitizer. I will say though they are quite dedicated to the customer. As I was sitting in the parking lot waiting 10-15min for my order to finish, someone clearly forgot their food and the same hacking server ran out to give it to them. Oh wait! Turns out that was actually our food being jostled around as he ran through the parking lot searching for the owner. I was watching the time and planned on returning but maybe I wasn't moving fast enough for this guy lol. He did all that just for the order to be wrong.... Damn bro. I prayed he didn't box the food. Best dishes (the reasons to come) 1) Salt and pepper squid This one was excellent. Fried well, not greasy heavy, topped with plenty of fried garlic, plus cilantro and fresh cabbage to balance the richness. Super satisfying and well executed. 2) Dried chow fun with beef Also a standout. Great texture and temperature, well seasoned, and the ingredients felt evenly distributed instead of clumped or uneven. This dish was done right. 3) Eggplant in a small pot Served in a small pot that keeps it warm for a long time, which makes a big difference. There's a lot of sauce, but you can reduce how salty it tastes by how you scoop and serve it. Comforting and flavorful. If you ordered just these three, you'd already have a great meal. Other dishes (good, not amazing) Coconut shrimp The shrimp itself was cooked well, and I appreciated the broccoli on the side to balance the heaviness. The issue was the sauce: way too much. It got soggy fast and leaned too sweet and too salty. Next time, I'd ask for the sauce on the side so you can control it. We also tried a vegetable dish and a fish dish. Both were decent, but not particularly memorable. Tea They serve tea if you order it. The chrysanthemum tea was pretty good, and I liked that it was loose leaf. Atmosphere and service We went around 2:30 to 3:00 pm, so it wasn't crowded. The vibe felt very local and family friendly. It's an older building, but clean enough and inviting. Service was great, and it seemed even smoother if you have someone in your group who can speak Cantonese. Would I return? Yes. I'd come back, especially for the salt and pepper squid, dried chow fun with beef, and the eggplant pot.

Everything came out on real dishes--not to-go boxes--which I loved. You order and pay at the counter, grab a seat, and they bring the food out to you. Now let's talk about the food... DELICIOUS. The spice level was just right--flavorful with a nice kick, but not overpowering. If you like it hotter, you can definitely add more heat, but I was perfectly satisfied as is. The lo mein was really good too--veggies were fresh with a nice crisp (those onions and carrots were hitting!), and everything tasted well-balanced. Only small note: I wish there was a little more meat in the dish, but it didn't take away from the overall experience. And let me say this--the portion size is VERY generous. I ate until I was full and still had just as much left to take home, which is always a win in my book. All in all, I'll definitely be back to try more. If you're in Chinatown Market and not sure what to pick, Chong Qing Hot Pot is a solid choice. 4/5 stars for me!

I ended up order the sweet and sour chicken with white rice and veggie egg roll. My husband ordered the garlic eggplant with fried rice and hot/sour soup. Plus, we shared veggie fried noodles for long life because we stopped here for my birthday. Service was wonderful and we got our food fairly quick. They were really good at refilling our water and clearing the table free of trash. I really enjoyed the noodles as it had tons of veggies, but an overwhelming amount of bean sprouts. The sweet and sour chicken delivered as it was both sweet and sour and I had plenty of leftovers. I found the veggie spring roll quite oily though, but it did its job.

New Lan Zhou Noodle is one of the restaurants in the China Town food court. It's pretty popular due to their freshly made daily pulled noodles. Pre-pandemic, you used to be able to see them do it behind a glass screen. Now, you cannot see the back kitchen. Hubby and I ordered a noodle dish each (him was Seafood and mines were Short Ribs) along with their soup dumplings (that they're known for) and Twisted Cruellers. Food took very long to make, but it's understandeable. Bowls were very big and full. Meats looks good, but the white broth did not look good at all. We took a spoonful of broth to start off with without adding any condiments and OMG...no flavor at all! We were thoroughly disappointed. The meats part were good and tender (though again, no flavor), but most disappointing was that even with condiments, the broth was bland. We kept on saying to each other that we will not order from here again. The noodles were just okay. Nothing earth shattering about it. Twisted cruellers tasted like it was just heated from a frozen one. I didn't get to taste the soup dumplings because we were running late for appt since the foods took so long and had to pack it to-go. I can't really comment on that. I will not order from here again and would like to try the surrounding stalls around it.

Prices have increased since my last visit (of course), but they're still quite reasonable. The service is exceptional! We always enjoy chatting with Jojo and Chloe when we're there. These two ladies are incredibly friendly and helpful. My parents visit so frequently that Jojo already knows their orders without them having to say a word lol. You never have to wait long; our orders come out one dish after another very quickly. Our go to orders: * Chow Quay Teow * Fish Fillet * Kari Fish Fillet * Salt & Pepper Squid * Hainanese Chicken + Chicken Rice!! * Salt & Pepper Tofu * Stir Fried Okra in Garlic TBH you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Highly recommend.

We decided to try Mamak after our 1st option was BOOKED and busy for Cinco ... EXCELLENT choice. Since it was both our first time, we ordered an assortment of items including the puffs, spring rolls, egg noodles, roti and our entrees. My tofu and veggie dish was flavorful with a hint of spice. My friend ordered the glass noodles with chicken and shrimp. Great service. Absolutely locally patronized - always a good sign - and a range of options. Loved this for my first time having Malaysian food !
