They changed owners not long ago. And also changed the Chinese name of the restaurant, but the English name is still the same! If you come on the weekends, beware the lines and wait time is absolutely nuts. Hostess was getting a bit frustrated, but all the servers/staff inside with the dim sum carts were super nice and personable. There's a tablet to check in at the door when you walk in. The inside was also renovated and looks very different than the old restaurant. Parking is also limited when it gets busy. I don't really eat meat much anymore besides seafood. So I didn't try too many dishes. But my dad loved everything he had, especially the century egg congee. I love the shrimp hargow, basically like shrimp dumplings with a transparent dough. My favorite though was the shrimp steamed rice roll. The shrimp were big and plump, and the sauce they pour on it is really good. Like a soy sauce with a touch of sweetness. I also really enjoyed the fried rice and the hot tea. Everything I tried I can wholeheartedly recommend, but honestly I didn't try too many dishes. I would definitely come back again!! Visited Oriental Petal on a very busy Father's Day, and I'll be honest--picking that day to eat here is something I probably wouldn't do again. The food itself was good, no complaints there, but it took a long time for our dishes to come out. It seemed like the restaurant was understaffed for the holiday rush, and the wait times definitely showed it. I don't think this is their usual pace, and I'm willing to chalk a lot of it up to the Father's Day crowd. Still, for a big holiday, you'd expect the restaurant to be better prepared. Back to Oriental Pearl again for Dim Sum. The updated interior is nice and clean looking without being ostentatious. Service has been great since they reopened but the food was hit or miss. Based on today's Dim sum lunch, it seems like the food is getting better. The steamed chicken bao were better than expected, the rice noodle wrapped Yao Tiu were excellent as usual, steamed spare ribs were not a disappointment this time, beef tripe was okay and the mixed beef organ stew was spot on! It's been years since I was here last. I found out that there's new ownership and they've also modernized the place. I was here for a private event where they served a family style banquet. My faves that evening were the stir fry beef - tender pieces of beef in a peppery brown sauce and house fried rice - had beef, chicken and shrimp. Oriental Pearl Restaurant is another dim sum spot in Metro Atlanta. I believe they recently reopened, so when I went for the first time, it was pretty busy inside. The space is not as big as other dim sum places, but it is located in the Atlanta Chinatown strip so there is not a lot of space to begin with. Parking was annoying to find for Sunday brunch, but it was doable. As for service, I thought the rolling carts were a bit slow and at times, it seemed like our servers forgot our requests. I did family style with my friends and we got several dishes, including Chicken Feet, Har Gow, and Shumai. I judge dim sum places by their Chicken Feet and this one needed more sauce as it tasted a bit plain. I also thought that the Fried Shrimp Ball and Har Gow, while generous in shrimp portion, tasted bland as well. I wanted the soy sauce and chili oil to add more flavor to the food, but the soy sauce tasted a bit sweet... as if it was meant for dumplings... and the chili oil was not that spicy, which was disappointing. My friends agreed that the food could use a bit more seasoning overall. As for pricing, it was $5.50 for small, medium, and large dim sum plates but not sure how long that will last. The tea was technically $2 per person, but free at the time I went (possibly because it was the grand reopening). Overall, I think that this spot was alright. Not my favorite for dim sum in Atlanta. But definitely check it out for yourself as there are non-dim sum options too such as an a la carte menu of Chinese dishes. read more

The restaurant is beautiful inside, with elegant linens and tablecloths that create a warm and upscale atmosphere. The service was outstanding from everyone, including the staff and servers, who were friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. The remodel was a big sham. I came in with a group of 7 people. The self rotating lazy Susan was cool, but where we were sitting the AC wasn't working and the whole meal felt hot humid and muggy. It didn't help that the servers rarely visited our table and only refilled our water glasses once. When I did flag down a server, she awkwardly said she wasn't our server and refused to help. The food wasn't much better either. Chicken feet was soft, no texture, and tasteless, egg tarts were also bland. The spare ribs as well were rubbery. The Chinese broccoli was super oily. The only good thing I ate was the sesame balls, which were probably bought from a wholesale distributor. We asked for beef ho fun and radish cakes but they never arrived. They also overcharged us on these "big plates", even though the deal said 5.50$ for all plates. At this point I didn't care to argue over the bill. The food was tasty without being overly salty. Prices are reasonable and portions were quite generous. The only issue I had was that a few of our orders were incorrect. I think that could be because it's "soft opening" right now. There was a rush of people that the kitchen staff was likely unprepared for, so it got a little chaotic. This place is absolutely fantastic. We used to drive all the way to Duluth for good dim sum, but not anymore. The restaurant is spotless, beautifully decorated, and incredibly welcoming. We ordered almost everything on the dim sum carts, and truly enjoyed every single dish. The seasoning was spot‑on--flavorful without relying on excess salt--and many plates had thoughtful touches that elevated them even more. We also tried a few items from the menu. We've had overall good experiences at Oriental Pearl. One large caveat: We typically come here on Christmas day, so I can't say what this place is like on a non-holiday. That said, the food is DELICIOUS. I have no qualms about saying that. We typically aim for Dim Sum on Christmas, but this year we couldn't make it early enough in the day to participate (they stop Dim Sum service at 3pm, and then it's just an order-off-the-menu situation). We love the Dim Sum for it's flavor (obviously) and variety. But ordering off the menu yesterday was also a treat. The menu is gigantic. It basically has a page for each protein. If I shared menu photos, it would take up all the memory on my phone (I kid, I kid). But seriously, they have an impressive catalog. The five of us shared the spicy garlic pork, the sweet and sour chicken, pan-seared pork potstickers, green beans, and snow pea greens. Everything was excellent, and they served it with white rice. One of our party had the rice beef noodle soup, which would be hard to share, so she just had that for her meal. The other dishes were more than enough food for the 4 of us. The service was ok. Our servers were a little short with us, which I won't count against them on a holiday. But that is the only area of improvement I could see. The food here is alright - I might just have super high expectations growing up with houston chinese food, but nothing here was outstanding. My party of 4 came for dinner and we did part dim sum, part dinner entrees. Of all the items we ordered, I thought the walnut shrimp was the best! The shrimps are massive - truly some of the largest I've ever seen. They offer dim sum all day, but their dinner dim sum options are quite limited. I would say the siu mai was a little different than normal... wasn't the biggest fan. The interior is nice and is decorated like a classic chinese banquet restaurant. Came here for a lunar new year celebration with a big group. We ordered the kitchen ordered food and didn't come for the typical dim sum. We got crab, lobster, chicken, pork, two vegetables dishes, fish, and noodles. The chicken dish was served cold and it was really good with all the scallion and cilantro. The ginger sauce that it came with was fragrant and a great dipping sauce for the chicken. The lobster dish was delicious and the right amount of salty! The lobster dish was with a ginger sauce as well. They also cracked a lot of the shells and the sauce seeped into the lobster. The crab was just as good and came with a good black bean sauce. The first vegetable dish with lotus came with mushroom and other root vegetables, I particularly liked this dish because of the different vegetables! The other vegetable dish was a simple wok fried vegetable and just as good. The fried noodles we ordered also came with lots of small pieces of seafood and had a good wok fried char flavor to it. The fish was steamed and very fresh, the meat just fell off the bones. I enjoyed the fish the most. The sweet and sour pork came with onion, bell pepper, and pineapple. In my opinion, this dish was a little too sweet than sour and most of the pieces were fatty, which I didn't love. They also have a plate of oranges at the end of the meal. Overall, I really enjoyed the dinner we had here and the service was efficient. They also changed out our dirty plates throughout dinner! I went to atlanta to try the dim sum so i could compare it to Houston and San Francisco. The dim sum menu was a bit lacking so I ordered the seafood egg tofu dish and basil clams. Overall, food was decent, not memorable and some dishes i expected to be silky and smooth were chewy. My basil clams were juicy but the sauce needed a bit of black bean flavoring along with the basil. My seafood egg tofu dish was completely missing the seafood. Imagine my shock to pay $23 for only egg tofu. Then the bill came and i was totally expecting g it to be at least 40% higher than it was. I kept asking if they were sure they charges me for everything. So food 3/5 but price 4.5/5. Compared to most Chinese restaurants in Houston, Tx that provide little or no service i was a bit spoiled by my wait staff constantly changing my dirty plates. We had to tell them it's ok to stop. So customer service 4/5. The ambiance reminds me if the older restaurants I used to go to in the 90's. They were even playing g music videos from that era. Very nostalgic! read more

Lots of staff looking busy but not actually doing anything. And the food frankly sucked. The braised innards dish was sweet!!! It's like they accidentally put sugar in instead of salt. No on the chicken feet. Flavor is no good. Only the hargow and shrimp rice rolls were any good. Nothing new on the carts. In fact food was slow to come out. We tried this place on the recommendation of a guy on TikTok. The pros: ample parking and excellent attentive service. Also, the fried rice was top notch! Moist and flavorful without too much soy sauce. The cons: we came for the dim sum and it was a disappointment. The offerings were the usual dim sum fare & we ranked them as follows: Steamed bbq pork buns 2/10 - very little bbq pork. Tasted old and lukewarm. Shrimp dumplings 2/10 - dry, old tasting and lacked shrimp. Chicken feet 1/10 - floating in grease and again old tasting and lukewarm. Taro/meat dumpling 1/10 - cold, dry and gummy. Eggrolls 1/10 - cold, soggy and flavorless. Shrimp balls 1/10 - cold, rubbery and flavorless. I've eaten at many dim sum eatery's in the US and abroad and this would have to be my least favorite. I would however return for the fried rice, which was incredible. One last thing to note was a weird exchange we had with one of the women pushing the carts. She kept trying to sell us jewelry under the table from her apron pocket. Quite odd and frankly uncomfortable. It felt like we were being hustled. "Psst wanna buy a Rolex!" It wasn't a Rolex but you get my drift! I honestly think that the food off the regular menu might be good since the fried rice was so wonderful. Place is super clean and people are so friendly. Got some dim sum and it is worth the money and wait for it if you don't come when the carts are out. Har Gow is amazing here, thin dumpling that you can see the amazing amount of filling in it. Real good taste and goes amazing with their chili oil on the table. The Shumai is really good also, filling is so well made and the dumpling wrapper is done so well. The deep fried shrimp balls were my favorite, wonton strips around the fried shrimp balls were perfectly done, like if you like shrimp balls get this for sure. Got the beef chow fun, you can't have a meal without this. It had the perfect taste you want from it and makes your crave more per bite. If you want other dishes the menu has something for everyone, next time I come I will be trying the wonton mein for sure cause I have heard amazing things about it. read more

The dim sum we had was top-notch, although limited (2 carts). Highly recommended for seasoned cart-served dim sum diners. Chicken feet - perfectly sauced and tender, not greasy, 10/10. Pork buns - sweet and yeasty, not white and fluffy, not over-stuffed with meat, 9/10. Chinese broccoli in garlic sauce - menu item, not on the cart, yummy, tender, perfect fiber to balance out the carbs, 10/10. Turnip cakes - delicious! 10/10. Steamed shrimp dumplings -pretty good, 6/10. Shrimp and crab (seafood) dumplings - surprisingly yummy, 10/10. Lotus leaf wrapped chicken and rice - delicious very distinct flavor, 9/10. My nephew (who had a big appetite) got 1/2 roasted duck - very delicious flavor although some parts were not so tender, 8/10. If you want a STRONG buzz, get the hot tea, holy moley! It takes about 30 minutes to kick in so be cautious. The service was quick and friendly, albeit a little aggressive. You have to actively say "no" when they try to put items on the table, especially if you don't want to fill up before you've had your favorite items. There were only two carts, maybe because business was slow (only 5 full tables when we were there at 12 noon). A waitress tried to sell us bracelets ... I travel a lot and I am used to shooing away hawkers with a terse (rude) "no." :) The ambience is nice: classic "royal/ formal" Chinese decor without being intimidatingly fancy. I ordered everything off of the cart except one entree of spicy garlic shrimp. That too was flavorful but not as spicy as I had hoped. They had a spicy oil that helped raise the level. All in all I tried 5 items. I thought all of them were something I would get again except for the steamed shrimp dim sum. It was watery and slightly under seasoned. All of the dishes were tasty and hot, and some of them (radish cake and dumplings) are pan-fried in a cart right before it's given to you. Unfortunately, we were seated in a far corner, so dim sum carts weren't always in our area, but we were able to order through our server. Our party was extremely full, and had leftovers, with the check only amounting to slightly over $175 including tip. In my experience, this is VERY affordable for dim sum. We even ordered a beef chow fun and two orders of rice rolls with the fried dough sticks from the kitchen.
