All of the dishes were tasty and hot, and some of them (radish cake and dumplings) are pan-fried in a cart right before it's given to you. Oriental Pearl has been opened for soooo many years we actually had a family wedding here. And the dim sum experience sadden me today. I did make reservations online which walking in I didn't need to the place was not packed at all. There were only 3-4 carts coming around with the same thing the whole time we were there. There was no chicken feet/spare ribs roast duck tripe stew/steamed rice rolls with shrimp. We had tea and like 7-8items and nothing else it was 9 of us water wasn't refiled nor tea. The Pearl is known for its fabulous dim sum. You can tell by the Asian clientele that the food is on point. We went with another couple and by the end of our meal our table was stacked with little dishes, most all delicious. I'm not a fan of the rice cake, the texture and flavor were very off-putting to me, but everything else was fresh and good. I am a LONG time customer of Oriental Pearl, have been to dim sum here numerous times over the years, and have had many family dinners for special occasions here as well. My wife, toddler, and I ordered a LARGE (and not inexpensive) take out order for a nice lunar new year dinner earlier this week. We came to find a nice metal staple embedded in a piece of chicken. Not a staple floating around in the food, but embedded into a piece of chicken. I went back to the restaurant and showed the manager a photo of the staple and she began to explain loudly that they put orders in paper bags and staple them shut. (Yes, I know this already.) I then explained to her the staple was IN the food and she responded angrily that there was NO WAY that a staple of theirs could have been in the food. She then said WE must have dropped the staple in the food while taking it out of the bag. 1) The food is in foam containers, within the paper bags. 2) We removed the containers from the bag and took the containers to a different room. We did not open the containers near the paper bags, therefore the staple was in the food prior to being placed in the bags. The manager then said "Do you want to see how we staple the bags, there is no way we did it!" (I'm well aware of how bags are stapled BTW) Staples aside, the food was good which is the only reason this isn't a ONE star review. The sad thing is that the manager refused to discuss this any further, no discussion of re-making the dish, no apology, no refund of course, but worst of all she BLAMED IT ON THE US, THE CUSTOMER. Therefore, when I moved back to Georgia after five years away, this was one of the first places I tried. The result... It is such a disappointment. We should have left when I don't see many people during a Sunday lunch. Service - The waiter who served us was rude and exceptionally not helpful. The restaurant ran out of Dim Sum... We wait for another 20 minutes for a new batch to come out. One of the servers pushing the Dim Sum cart didn't even try to make a whole round across the dining area. The guy went back to his station and proceeded to wander around. Food - Most of the Dim Sum plate we got was bland. You can tell some of the items on the cart have been there for a while and looks dried. The only good dish I had was the chicken feet, which we waited for close to 25 minutes after sitting down. The dining area looked more refined than your average Chinese restaurant with their wedding-like interior design - the golden seat covers, large round tables, and a stage. During COVID pandemic, I miss the excitement of the dim sum carts being pushed to your table and I was so glad this restaurant delivered that. I thought the overall quality of the dim sum food was pretty good. I thought most of the dim sum tasted flavorful and fresh. The presentation is what I would expect at a dim sum. Steamed dumplings were nicely cooked. However, I thought some of the dim sum that had a shrimp filling had a very faint metallic taste that was a little odd, not sure how to describe it. I've been here so many times (but only once since the Covid-19 pandemic started), that I could've sworn that I've already written a review. Apparently not. R and I came here for Christmas dinner. At around 6:45 pm, there weren't that many customers in the restaurant. The host saw us waiting in the lobby, but ignored us, didn't say a thing, stood near the cash register not doing anything else and let us wait for about 5 minutes. Finally, he led us to a table near a group of people who were done eating and were just talking, but none of them were wearing face masks. R told him that we wanted a different table away from people not wearing masks. The host grumbled about them still eating, but R told him that they were just sitting there talking, with dirty plates and no food at their table. The host led us to a different table away from others, and we were able to safely social distance. Our quick and efficient server came by and asked if we wanted hot tea to drink, Yes, that was fine with us, and a glass of water for me. We also ordered our food: Hong Kong style crispy pan fried noodles with chicken, and salt and pepper pork chop. I'm not even sure if the pan fried noodles are on the menu, but crispy pan fried noodles are placed on a serving plate and cooked and sliced carrots, Chinese broccoli, mushrooms and white meat chicken and a light brown gravy are poured on top of the noodles. This allows the noodles to soak up the gravy over time, so it's best to eat the noodles as soon as they're served. The longer your wait, the more mushy the noodles get. The server didn't have much to say, but he was quick with bringing a teapot filled with tea and a glass of ice water to our table. Within 15 minutes, our food was served to us, and it all smelled good. The Hong Kong style crispy noodles with chicken was perfect, heck, everything was perfect! The chicken was tender, the veggies were cooked well, but still firm and not mushy. The salt and pepper pork chops came with slices of jalapeño peppers that added a lot of kick. Even though the pork chops were fried, and the batter was light, similar to a tempura batter, and the outer crunchiness went very well with the moistness of the meat. This is one of the best dim sum restaurants I've been to in Atlanta! It's a bit of a drive, but the food is fantastic and comes in the classic Hong Kong style dim sum carts. The place is huge, spacious, and you may have to wave down people to make sure they come to you but with the open dining hall, you can see people from a mile away. Food has been consistently good, can be a little pricier than other places, but overall quality. Would recommend coming here, and also for bringing people trying dim sum for the first time. read more

Gosh it just feels like everytime I come here I get upset.. you know the food is gonna be good when the dim sum ladies are hella rude. The place isn't super clean either. It's not my favorite dim sum place but they have some really good dishes. It's pretty consistent in taste everytime I go. My family even hosted a couple parties there. The restaurant appeared clean. The services was great! Our server made sure we were well taken care of and checked on us frequently. He noticed that my youngest wasn't eating so it was very nice of him to give him a plate of sliced oranges. The food was just ok. We got shrimp and pork shiu mai, char siu bao, steamed fish balls, and pork fried rice. Their menu is pretty expansive and offers a wide variety of Chinese dishes but we specifically came here for their dimsum so we didn't get to try any. My mom was craving Chinese food on NYE 2020/2021 and so we decided to check out old faithful- insert Oriental Pearl. I was very sad to see the restaurant mostly empty. I know COVID is running rampant but the Oriental Pearl staff do an excellent job at following CDC guidelines. Both the dishes and cups offered had some dirty spots, it is possible that they had been sanitized, but, they certainly were visibly dirty and we had to wipe them down as replacements also came dirty... The food itself was variable, but, overall average. It was not bad, but, not outstanding and/or the same quality as the service/staff. We had egg tarts which tasted off, possibly old... The price itself is reasonable for the quantity, would expect the restaurant to be cleaner, regardless of price though. Came here with family for dinner. We ordered mostly seafood. Seafood is very fresh! Service is good. Dining area is newly renovated approximately three weeks ago. Place is clean. Well lit area. Quite airy which is good. Seats are comfortable. The owner came out and greeted us asking as how's out meal. My family and I agreed that the food is good. Service did improve noticeably year after year within the last few years I dine here a couple times a year except in 2020. Presentation is nice. Staff were attentive checking on our tea pots. Complimentary sliced Oranges at the end. Tables are adequately spaced. Pictures are worth a thousand words and speaks for itself. There's no filter on these pictures. I'm sure there are those who are worried about consuming foods with high sodium. I am one of those people. I can say, this is one of the few restaurants that will stay on my list to revisit. They offer salt and pepper shakers for those who likes it extra salty. But I would say the flavor is well balanced. Eat slow so you can savor each bite. I recommend this place.
