I ended up order the sweet and sour chicken with white rice and veggie egg roll. My husband ordered the garlic eggplant with fried rice and hot/sour soup. Plus, we shared veggie fried noodles for long life because we stopped here for my birthday. Service was wonderful and we got our food fairly quick. They were really good at refilling our water and clearing the table free of trash. I really enjoyed the noodles as it had tons of veggies, but an overwhelming amount of bean sprouts. I didn't want to do this but I felt obligated to because my first review was glowing. A little more than a year ago and my friends and I were obsessed with this place. Amazing food, excellent service, and amazing food; it warranted repeating. I just moved back in to town and was excited to have my favorite Cantonese food in Atlanta but honestly, after our meal today, I don't know that I'll be back and I certainly won't be bringing any more of my friends. Service: Everyone was still really kind. But the food came out slowly for how dead they were. We were halfway there of our dishes when I mentioned to the waiter that two more dishes were missing. He spoke with the waiter who took our order and they said they were coming. A half hour later and the dishes still hadn't arrived. I asked again and they apologize profusely and said it would be out shortly. Unfortunately, that's where the niceties ended... Food: Overall, the food was really bad. The best thing about Cantonese food is how complex the flavors are and when there is a good chef, it is my favorite cuisine in the world. That is what BBQ Corner has been in the past...but not anymore. All of the dishes, especially dishes with sauce, were overly sweet and very one note. The eggplant with garlic came with a bright red sauce that had no garlic in it. When I mentioned to the waiter that it was the wrong sauce, she said "No, that is spicy garlic sauce." I have had that dish at this restaurant at least five times and more than 20 times elsewhere. It was the wrong sauce and the sauce wasn't good. She and another waiter spoke to the kitchen and later apologized. Assessment: I think ownership changed and they took their cooks with them. Instead of the lite, complex flavors of Cantonese food of which they were once masters, this meal felt like mediocre Chinese takeout. While the waitstaff is lovely and mistakes happen (I still tipped 30% because it was Christmas), the food just wasn't good enough to warrant a return trip. I'm sad because this place used to be my favorite...one summer a friend and I ate there three times in one week. But things have changed and definitely not for the better. read more

Seafood chow fun was a big disappointment. Weak flavor. I kept on hearing about this place for years, but had never tried it since there's so many in Gwinnett near me that I'm still trying to get through. So glad I came with a group of my foodie friends. All the dishes were fantastic, even the vegetarian ones! If my sister hadn't told me, I would thought that it was a service type of restaurant, but no, you order at the counter and go find a seat. That was the only confusing part. You just have to look at your surroundings. The place can get tight and so I can't imagine on the weekends during rush hour lunch and dinner. I had a very odd craving for this roast duck on a Wednesday. I drove over here on A Wednesday and forgot that they are closed that day, bummer. Don't be like me and have a duck craving in the middle of the week. Anyhoo, I'm back, and the duck still hit like I this the first time I had it. My kids and I are on a quest to try new menu items so tonight was the beef chow mien with black bean sauce. It wasn't bad. You know how kids ate, the veggies were too chunky for them but overall the dish was good. They also expected the skinny rice noodles instead of the flat thick rice noodles, again, kids preference. I came here with friends because a lot of the restaurants in the area had a long wait. There was not too many people here, so we were seated immediately. The servers and owners were really nice, but the food left much to be desired. I got the wonton noodles, and it was okay, but I have definitely had better in the area. The restaurant itself is pretty small but has good seating availability. Had lunch here today and it was awful. The hot and sour soup was goopy. The fried shrimp wonton was a large wonton wrapper with a pea size shrimp inside, it was pathetic. The orange chicken did not have orange in it all and was just covered in the sweet sauce from the fried wonton. The broccoli had a strange taste that ended with chlorine. So it's a nice little area, but it's in a strip mall that's very congested. So just be aware of that if you are coming here, parking could be a beast. Depending on what time of day you're going to be there. When I was seated, I got brought a menu and some water right away so they had really good attentive customer service. She explained to me you and gave me a chance to go and look over it, she didn't try to rush me. Just a note, I came around when they were closing so it was last that they didn't try to rush me. The barbecue pork was a nice pile of sliced meat. And it was the medium size so I can only imagine what the large size would be. The pork itself was pretty dry, but they had two compensate by adding some sauce at the bottom of the plate for you. So without the sauce, it really didn't hit, but it added some extra juicy flavor to it if you use the sauce with the meat when you were eating it. I ended up taking some of that home and poured the sauce over it and the leftover meat absorb the sauce right up, I feel like I needed more lol. The Egg drop soup was okay, I kind of felt like it could have used a little more flavor, but it was good. It had really big chunks of eggs in it, but it needed a little extra seasoning a little salt and pepper to make it come out. I would probably try to hide and sour next time. General Tso's chicken was really good, I would definitely get it again even I want to try other things next time. The sauce that came on it was good and super sweet and really flavorful and had some cake to it. It was thick so it really stuck to the chicken, so when you put the chicken in the rice, the rice will stick to the sauce which was on a chicken and it made everything falling full circle! Egg rolls were pretty good. They came with a good and sweet sauce that had a nice flavor to them. A lot of times they come with a combo, but this wasn't the case but it's fine (they're on the appetizer menu). The chicken came with steamed rice but you can pay like $4 and some change more and get fried rice. I don't know why I would ever just settle for white rice when fried rice was available so it was a pretty good upgrade and it was a really nice amount of rice too. I took some of that home as well so that was really good. No complaints about this chicken and rice combination Let me mention one thing, I had food left over so I took it home. And you can really tell the integrity of a food and the quality of it by how it reheats, and this food reheated pretty well honestly. This was pretty solid, I really don't have a lot of complaints about it. I thought that they treated me well and they were nice and greeted me and waved at me goodbye as well when I was leaving. The head give or take about maybe 20 or so areas to sit at, and it wasn't full at all so I can get there full attention so that was good but I'll bet at lunch time they probably bang. Either way, I enjoyed myself here. Just to know, the parking here is not great because it's in a parking lot of a strip mall and they're doing construction so you will have to navigate like Tetris around up on a parking spot depending on what time a nite going but I wasn't upset at all. I was carving authentic Asian food. Took my baby girl with me, and we went to explore Doraville, aka Buford Highway. People aint lying when you ask them, "Where are all the authentic and amazing Chinese cuisine?" And they reply, " Buford Highway" or " Jimmy Carter Blvd." You really can't go wrong with any of the restaurants from these locations. However, the thing to look for is the health ratings of all the restaurants. Luckily, Yelp does that automatically for you when you search up the restaurants. Just be cautious about which restaurants you walk into and make sure it's sanitary like you would expect in any restaurants. We found this place, and the food was delicious. We ordered drunken noodles, chicken fried rice, combination congee, and, of course, hot and sour soup. Everything was cooked to the authentic taste. The reason why I deducted a star was for the health ratings. So far, my stomach feels just fine. You know the best foods are located at these hole in the wall places. Just use your best judgment and give it a try! I will be exploring and dining in this area more often in the future, so I know where to take my buddies from California when they visit! read more

As much as I love regional Chinese cuisine, I grew up on weekly takeout from my neighborhood American Chinese place. Dishes like General Tso's chicken, egg foo young, and house special fried rice hold a special place in my heart. Good quality American Chinese can be surprisingly hard to find, but my go to for the American Chinese dishes of my youth is BBQ Corner 2 in the Asian Square shopping center on Buford Highway. One of my absolute favorite comfort food meals is General Tso's chicken with roast pork fried rice. The rendition of those two dishes here is excellent. The General Tso's sauce possesses less cloying sweetness and more tang and spice than one may expect. The pork fried rice here benefits from well seasoned char siu pork chunks and the ideal balance of rice and veggies. One order of each yields about three meals worth of food for me, and the prices are subsequently quite reasonable. My order is always ready in a timely manner and the staff always serve with a smile. While this restaurant is a respectable Cantonese place in its own right, I shamefully haven't tried the authentic dishes here and can't comment on their quality. Nonetheless, BBQ Corner 2 remains my go to spot for American Chinese food and I'd heartily recommend it to any in search of well portioned and quality comfort food of that genre. read more

I don't know a ton about Chinese food, so I'd like to try some other spots, but we really enjoyed our meal. Service was fast and friendly. We split an order of potstickers which came with a delectable sauce. They were a good portion. I got the pan-fried rice noodles with beef and vegetables. It was different than I expected, but so good! Hot gravy-like sauce and crispy noodles. My fiancé got the BBQ pork lo mein which he loved. These portions were also sizeable for the cost. The meat was tender and not too fatty. 8 treasure clay pot - this is a classic with 8 ingredients - shrimp, squid, char siu, chicken, tofu, Napa cabbage, snow pea, mushrooms, braised in a clay pot. Really good! Green bean with Sze Chuan vegetables and minced pork - this was the only dish that wasn't really good. The food in this very modest little spot is always good - tasty, hot and promptly served. Not to be missed is their Egg Foo Yong. The service is always good, too, but there's one thing to be aware of. They automatically charge an 18% gratuity (which I don't really mind, although it was surprising for our group of just two adults and one child), but then the check includes a suggested tip, too. The food is solid, well priced, but the service is even better! Every time I come to BBQ Corner the staff is always so willing to accomodate for my friends and I (we often show up with a large party of ~15). They even offer to box up leftovers, which most Chinese restaurants never do - I was so impressed! They just asked me which leftovers I wanted and they took care of the rest, leaving me with a nicely tied up to-go bag. Some of my friends commented that the food was a bit too salty and that one of the dishes (sizzling beef w/ crispy noodles) didn't have enough sauce with it. While the food may not leave a lasting impression, I still think this is a local staple where you can get good food at a good price and with great service. I came here for lunch yesterday with no pre-conceived thoughts or ideas about this restaurant, and I had a great dining experience! BBQ Corner 2 is in the very popular Asian Square Shopping Center on Buford Highway. There's currently (re)construction going on in the parking lot near BBQ Corner 2, so there may be some challenges with parking, especially during peak times. I was immediately welcomed when I walked through the front door. The employee was with a customer taking a take out order, and gestured with her arm to have a seat at any table in the dining area. All the tables and floor were clean, so my choice of a table wasn't decided by the number of clean tables available. Within a few minutes, my server came over and brought a menu, plate and eating utensils and asked what I wanted to drink, and just wanted water. A couple of minutes later, the employee brought my water and asked if I was ready to order. I wanted to see how well they made their Salt and Pepper Pork Chop, so I ordered that, which comes with steamed white rice. As my server took a few steps away, I asked her if anything other than rice comes with it. She came back to the table and explained that nothing else came with it, and went on to tell me that they have lunch combos that are served with either soup (egg drop or hot and sour soup) or an egg roll (pork), and I have a choice of egg fried rice or steamed rice. She added that I could get the Salt and Pepper Pork Chop as part of the lunch combo. When I asked her if the regular Salt and Pepper Pork Chop is a family-style entree, she said that it is. I didn't really want that much pork chop. As my final order, I asked for the Salt and Pepper Pork Chop lunch combo with hot and sour soup and steamed white rice. Within a couple of minutes, my server brought a bowl of hot and sour soup. This was the spiciest hot and sour soup I've ever tasted, which was ok because I love spicy, but it was just surprising that the heat level was on the high side. After I finished off my soup, my sinuses were clear! That was when my server brought a small bowl of white steamed rice and a serving dish of Salt and Pepper Pork Chop. It looked like it was one pork chop that had been cut haphazardly with a cleaver (bones and all, like many Asian restaurant chefs hack up their pork and chicken), dipped into an egg batter than was lightly seasoned, and pan fried. The chunks of pork chop were placed onto a bed of sautéed onions and cabbage, lots of seasoning and spices, including jalapenos and red chili peppers, and garnished with more seasoning and spices and green onions. The pork chop pieces were delicately crunchy on the outside and still moist on the inside. It could've used more salt and pepper, but it's probably best for me to not have too much salt. I liked that the onions were still a little firm. My Salt and Pepper Pork Chop was a lunch combo that was done well! I'm really satisfied with the suggestion/recommendation from my server regarding getting the lunch combo versus getting the entree. I'm looking forward to trying more items off of their extensive menu in the future. read more

BBQ Corner 2 is a BuHi staple. The food is good, but not outstanding. We ordered the Mongolian Beef, Pork in Peking sauce, Salt & Pepper Squid, and green beans with garlic. The salt and pepper squid was by far our favorite thing we ordered! It had great flavor and wasn't overly chewy or hard. The pork was slightly crispy and the sauce was good. The Mongolian beef was like any other restaurant's, as were the green beans. We had good service and the food was timely in coming out. I've been going to BQC2 since college and it's for good reason - the food is great and the atmosphere is just as great. This is a large but small team ran restaurant with an extensive menu and even though you wouldn't believe it if you walked in with me and watched as they asked if I wanted my regular of sweet and sour ribs.... I've tried a lot of it and all of it is good. The staff is the real star here - they're a small group of very fun and enjoyable people more than willing to walk you through the menu if you need suggestions or anything like that. They're super amazing and deserve all the business you can give them, and honestly after you eat something you'll do that anyways. If you're eating in, this place is huge. More than enough room for you and your friends to order a bunch of stuff and eat family style and have a good time. You can't go wrong here. read more

This place has gotten incredibly pricey. Spent $35 on a wonton/noodle soup, plate of roast pork, & a side of white rice. I realize that after the pandemic, everything is more expensive but this is a 50% spike from a couple of years ago. Food still tastes as good as pre-pandemic but don't expect any service or good ambiance. The TV's would be great if they actually broadcasted something instead of freezing and skipping. Owners must've taken queues from Canton Cooks and used the fire exit to store things. If there is ever a fire in the restaurant, use the front door or start breaking windows. I remember this place very fondly as a child. I would always ask my mom to come here and get the roast duck. It has been many years since then, and either my memory serves me wrong or this place has truly gone down hill. When I walk in now, the decor has not changed much. Which means they've had the same carpet and furniture from over a decade ago - and you can definitely tell. The staff is not that helpful as well and are just there to do the bare minimum. Their sulkiness and general apathy would be more tolerable if the food was good, but overall, there's not much taste, and the barbecue is very dry. Their hot and sour soup is overly peppered. I was stirring the noodles thinking the sauce had sunk to the bottom, only to be told by the one friendly waitress there that the noodles had already been mixed in the kitchen - meaning there was just no sauce. This place is mine and my husbands top 3 places to eat at in atlanta. Number 1 for Chinese food and it's so consistent. We've been coming here since we started dating back 5/6 years ago. It's so hard to try new things here when you've had the few amazing things that you know is good every single time. The house made fried chili oil is one of my favorite things because we put it on everything. The service is quick, efficient and they always do a great job. The ambiance is very simple, but also inviting. You just know walking in thấy this food is going to be good because it's not super fancy and they just focus on the food. If we ever move from atlanta we will be deeply sad because this places brings so many good memories for us.
