In my humble opinion, Origin Coffee is the best breakfast place in the Saranac Lake area. I went back twice with my group for coffee and food during our time here. The viet coffee tasted very authentically made and the ham and cheese panini I ordeted was huge. I especially loved how it was only a 3 minute drive from my hotel, with plenty of parking nearby as well as being a great spot for those who were studying, working and having conference calls. Definitely visiting the next time I return to the saranac lake/lake placid area. read more

DEFINITELY VISIT!! Sweater weather coffee was very good but only if your into maple cinnamon and cardamom flavors. Matcha was a little on the warm side and wasn't sweetened so make sure u add some of the raw sugar they have! My husband and I were visiting the area and decided to pop in for coffee. No parking lot but we were lucky to get a spot right out front. The counter and tables were pretty full but there was no wait because they seem super efficient. I tried the maple latte and my husband had 1 of their teas. Dropped by for a cup of drip coffee since I was not about to drink coffee from a hotel room k cup machine. The shop is very aesthetically pleasing and spacious inside. There was only one person working but she kept the line moving fairly quick. It's nice to see a La Marzocco espresso machine since I typically only see them in the coffee shops in the city. Unfortunately I cannot say much about their espresso drinks since I only ordered a hot cup of coffee and I was extremely caffeine deprived at the time. The coffee is good, no sugar or cream needed. I would have gone back for my later afternoon fix but they close pretty early. read more

After 13 miles or 60,000 steps of hiking with rain and up to 70 mph winds yesterday with friends, I visited this place for breakfast Sunday morning. I liked the fresh hip vibe from the interior coffee bar and the baristas. A contemporary addition to town. I opted for the buttermilk biscuit with chimichurri sauce and a large drip coffee, black. I appreciated how the baristas reminded me to add chimichurri sauce, and got my coffee out in moments. I was throbbing with pleasure as I looked forward to my first proper meal back from hiking. The coffee was near scorching hot. My taste buds went numb for a bit and I waited for it to cool. By the time I finished the biscuit, I resumed drinking coffee. Good thing is the coffee was still warm an hour later on this warm sunny day. The buttermilk biscuit was interesting. The biscuit itself was like a pair of hardened, condensed croissant textured buns with a wide egg and paste of chimichurri lodged in between. It came with several slices of green apple so whenever I felt a little dry from the biscuit, the apple slices would rehydrate my palate and jolt me with simple sugars. My friends all got the breakfast burritos. Those portions were larger but it's not like I regretted my biscuit. I'll probably come back for coffee and try the other foods. They have an entire menu with toasts and sandwiches. I'm not a breakfast food guy but I'm willing to give food many shots. read more

We were very happy with our trip to Origin Coffee! I got a large latte and it was great. Hubby tried the sweater weather latte and enjoyed it. We split some baked goods - pumpkin muffin (moist and flavorful, perfect for fall), blueberry scone (yum! A bit of lemon zest for zing), and a chocolate croissant (super flaky and buttery). So relieved to find a casual cafe with breakfast options for a vegan family member in Lake Placid, which doesn't seem especially vegan-friendly. We had the vegan sausage panini (which is weirdly not vegan unless you swap out the cheese for avocado) It was really good. There's also avocado toast. The service was helpful and nice. read more

The two stores in lake placid and saranac lake have a strong following. Great avocado and other toasts and good breakfast burrito. However, the breakfast biscuit was too dry, admittedly a common problem repeated in breakfast biscuits elsewhere. Could use something lighter like tomatoes, herbs, lettuce. Might be better if you take the option of adding bacon. They seem to be cagey about hours (post-pandemic unavailability of labor?) which are not displayed on location, on their website, or on yelp. Google knows all, though, and 7-3 W-Sa, 8-2 Su, Cl M-Tu matches my experience. I missed that cortado on Monday and Tuesday. read more

Wait staff was very pleasant and food came out quickly. Not a lot of seating inside, but great location to grab food and keep walking on Main Street. My boyfriend got the egg biscuit sandwich and added bacon and I got the lemony whipped blueberry toast. We both thought our food was so flavorful!! I would really recommend the lemony toast if you're not sure what to get. The biscuit sandwich definitely was more filling and more food, but I loved the toast for a lighter breakfast. I thought the toast was a little pricey and they did add on $2 to the biscuit sandwich for adding bacon(which made the total for the biscuit sandwich $8.) The next day, the coffee order got screwed up and we were given iced lattes, we rolled with it, and the breakfast burrito and biscuit were delicious.
