Looks like an old library card catalogue sort of (nice decor for toppings).

We came here on a Saturday morning and the line was to the door. Definitely a tourist hot spot. Not only was the line to the door but the actual dining area was packed. The line moved fast, we waited maybe 5-10 minutes for two hot drinks and an order of avocado toast. All delicious and made accurately. The line dissipated quickly but still no place to sit, standing room only with patrons waiting for items, so we took our stuff to go. The dining area is beautiful and modern, definitely a sweet hangout spot to enjoy, early mornings or weekdays when it's not the rush hour.

Long line at 7:30 and they open at 7! The line moves quickly and it was nice chatting with other "coffee people" as we waited. Service was friendly and efficient. We got one pour over with an Origin coffee, Las Delicias from Peru and a Sweater Weather latte with cardamom, cinnamon and local maple syrup.... delicious!!! People just kept coming in it was great to see this local business doing so well.

Great cold brew and very cute place! The line was long (almost out the door) when we got there, but they were very efficient behind the counter and got our cold brews right away. Would definitely consider coming back to try some of their food and sit down in there to enjoy the atmosphere.

We were road tripping and in need of a healthy option in Lake Placid. Admittedly there were slim pickings, but Origin was great!! Latte was good - Asked for unsweetened and still got honey which wasn't ideal. Avocado toast was *amazing*! The roasted red pepper spread was remarkable, and the bread was also super yummy. Would recommend highly if you're visiting the first time!!

Open early, I was here for Saturday morning coffee. After finding parking, the place was rather busy with a constant flow of customers. I enjoyed my cortado (excellent!) and worked out a plan of attack for Lake Placid on their wifi. Sitting at the counter is my recommendation so you can see into the kitchen and watch the baristas try to keep up. [Review 1595 of 2024 - 509 in New York - 22618 overall]

What a cute coffee shop! It was busy as we walked in which is a great sign. But the line moved quickly. They have sandwiches to order and baked goods in a case(we got there mid morning so not much left). I opted for their Sweater Weather Latte and got it iced. The drink consisted of local maple syrup, cardamon, cinnamon, espresso and steamed milk. This was a perfect drink for a fall day which it felt like as we left to head home. Friendly and efficient service. I can't wait to head back to try more items when we return next year for our yearly trip.

Delicious coffees & food. Service with smiles and nice quiet vibe. Avocado toast was tops. Headed back for another round today!

Origin Coffee helped me start my days off right during a recent conference I attended in Lake Placid. I thought for sure most places would be closed since it's in-between seasons. Thankfully Origin was open bright and early at 7AM. This is an excellent coffee shop/roaster who also offers their coffee VIA Kalita Wave/Pour Over, which is my preferred coffee brewing method. Awesome shop, friendly people and of course great coffee.

A popular cafe right in the middle of the Lake Placid town. It took about 30 mins for us to get to front of the line + get our food and coffee, but you can easily take your coffee to the mirror lake and enjoy it with the view. Ham and cheddar panini is tasty and I especially liked the apple slice that add some freshness to the sandwich.

They do not train their staff well, and there is clearly a lot of disorganization. On top of that, they have changed the menus and completely removed signatures like the pizza which was one of the best in town. Pretty disappointing as we always liked the vibe. They need a real manager in here to turn things around. They will lose a lot of summer business in the meantime.

He was polite, extremely personable, and gave a great recommendation to me on the quesadilla, which turned out to be spot on and was DELICIOUS! I couldn't stop saying how good it was. I also got a flight of 5 beers, which themselves were each unique and enjoyable. Overall we didn't expect much going to a Mexican themed restaurant at a brewery, but we left very impressed and happy we gave it a go. Thanks to Rylan and the kitchen, we had a great experience and would highly recommend giving them a try if in the area. Also I'd note that it was almost empty (A Sunday) when we arrived at almost 5:30, but by the time we left there wasn't an empty seat in the place. So it seems they got a good thing going here

I have a bit of a story about Generations. Seven years ago,…read moremy family stopped in while visiting Lake Placid and, unfortunately, it was a pretty rough experience. After waiting over an hour for our food with no updates in sight, we finally left hungry and declared we'd never return. (We've all made dramatic vacation proclamations before!) When we got home, I wrote to the restaurant, and Natasha, the manager, personally responded with a sincere apology. She explained they had been incredibly short-staffed and invited us to come back if we were ever in Lake Placid again, promising a better experience. Well, seven years later, my sons found themselves in Lake Placid with friends and decided to give Generations another chance. They asked if Natasha was still there, and amazingly, she was! Not only that, but she remembered my email from all those years ago. This time, everything was wonderful. Great food, attentive service, a relaxing outdoor table, and happy young men!--which is review enough! To top it all off, when they asked for the check, they were told the meal was on the house. Natasha's kindness, grace, and commitment to making things right left a lasting impression. Thank you for turning a not-so-great memory into a great one. Cheers to Natasha and the team at Generations!

This place is just OK, it's sort of touristy with the basic menu, but pretty dining room. I asked the server if they had good, fresh iced tea, he said yes and then brought me a bottle of ice tea, not at all what I requested. Next up was to try a cup of their onion soup. The soup came out looking beautiful, the flavor was very nice, the temperature was moderate, I would have expected it to be server hotter, since it's soup. Then I ordered their Ruben. About 10 minutes later the server came back advising the chef said he didn't have anymore of the meat for it, so they offered to make it with turkey instead and since I love a Rachel (the turkey version of a Ruben) even more, I went for it. It came out looking pretty good and tasted quite nice. The fries were warm; again, not hot, but they had a decent flavor. Overall, I can see why the reviews are mediocre at best here.

Drinks were messed up and orders had to be repeated about 3 separate times. The restaurant was not busy, so I'm unsure how this could've happened. Some of the food was good - those who got the french dip sandwiches enjoyed it, as well as the wings. However, the black bean burger and beef stroganoff were average. It didn't blow us out of the water. The stroganoff had good flavor but was sitting in a pool of oil so that put some people off. I am visiting town, but unfortunately I would not come again if I return to Lake Placid due to the disorganization, errors, long wait for food and lack of food quality to make up for the prior problems.

We were waiting with two elderly and they recommended trying the sourdough pancakes. We got in by 9:05 and by 9:30 the whole place was packed. People say the woman is rude and I see that. Her attitude was dependent on how busy she was. When we first arrived and stood inside by the door, she teased us for not coming to the cash register to order food. The elderly ordered first and when we tried to order immediately after, she scolded us to wait. We each got the mountain man combo. I asked if I could get sourdough pancakes in the combo and I eventually got my way. The sourdough pancakes tasted like sourdough while being just grainy enough to count as pancakes. I liked it. We were supposed to get toast with our combos and when we asked, she said, "Well it normally does. Do you want it?" ...what? We got fresh semolina bread, and It was worth it. One friend felt like he was being punished for placing an order at the restaurant. I was laughing inside because nothing made sense. Good thing we were mentally prepared for these issues because she could have soured our moods instantly. It was hilarious how accurate the customer service reviews were. We had a great time getting mixed feelings between attitude and food. While we were terrified at times, the food was great and that is a fact.
