I can not believe that I missed a review for this place after so many visits. Origin Thai II is one of the best Thai place around Morris. Its honorable achievement next to entrance showed it all. I like the lighted fish tank in the front, which fits well with the dark inside. The first floor only have less than then table but there are more space downstairs. The menu is modified Thai scheme, where sea food and duck dominate the majority. Of course you can find ones with beef and chicken. I highly recommend the appetizer taste plate, with duck salad, tuna tartare, spring roll and surprisingly an empanada. In many cases, I saw people entering just have this appetizer collection for lunch or dinner. My wife and I have tried most on menu and I like the grilled jumbo shrimp the best, although she kept ordering curry dishes from time to time. The one I had last night was particularly impressive. The squash and asparagus on the size were well seasoned and not over cooked. The coconut milk steamed rice is wrapped by banana leaves, which is a little bit over cooked and chewing. The six jumbo shrimps caught my eye once our waitress present this plate in front of me. It were butterflied and kept a little shell at tail. It also gives great charcoal flavor. The shrimp it self is almost perfectly cooked and is covered with a little sweet sauce. I would prefer to have ones 30 second less on the grill. I'm a huge fan of Thai food but I had the WORST experience picking up food from here. They missed part of my order and then took it to the back to add the missing pad thai but due to miscommunication someone took out some other part of my order. I don't know what happened but I wound up waiting an additional 30+ minutes because of the confusion. Meanwhile the guy at the front is yelling at them for mixing things up. I've heard great things about the place but I really couldn't enjoy my meal after that whole ordeal. I've had better Thai food and most likely will not be going back. read more

Went there New Year's Eve. Appetizers were tasty. Wife ordered Sea Bass, which was excellent. I ordered Beef Pad Thai. The noodles, tofu, vegs, etc were fine... but the beef was inedible. It was tougher than shoe leather. I ate everything but the beef. When the waitress cleared our plates, I'm surprised she didn't ask why ALL THE BEEF was left uneaten on the plate. My husband and I have been here twice. The first time was a fantastic experience, food, service, and atmosphere. We really loved it. The second time the service was off. Our waitress seemed uncomfortable and inexperienced. She didn't understand my husband's questions. Also, they really need to train their employees on proper pace of meal. We got our appetizer and two minutes later the entrée came out. It really ruins the dining experience. The food was fantastic though, I have no complaints but the service was not good. The Bangkok Duck is wonderful. A perfectly cooked duck breast with a mix of vegetables, pineapple, and tofu. Served over a bed of spinach with just enough curry to make it really interesting. read more

Great food but the service could improve. I always seem to get the same 2 females as a waitress and they act bothered to take my order and def no help on the menu. Appears to be under new mgt with more pleasant staff. Rack of lamb was our favorite dish but will now ask for extra sauce. Grilled squid is still excellent, comes with a few sauce options. This is our go to thai place in morristown. We do both take out and sit in and always a good experience. We have eaten here at least 7 times in last 3 months and they are consistent. They also have a wine delivery service if you forget your byob. Enjoy! read more

My wife and I have eaten here numerous times over the past 5 or 6 years and I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience. Just had dinner here the other night and I would highly recommend it for almost any occasion. The occasion for us was business dinner and the service was fantastic. The food was delicious, especially the tuna pizza, which our server recommended, he was right! It isn't really a pizza, more like a scallion pancaka with raw tuna and pickled ginger slivers and a wasabi creme fraiche drizzle. I like this place. After a half dozen visits over the years, they dont dissapoint. Maybe its the crazy techno bday song and hat, with blinking lights, but the flavors are great. The entree choices are not a dime a dozen type foods. No wings, spinach dip, quessadilla yada yada yada here. Wild Boar, Ostrich and a great duck dish. Other tamer options too. Do it. TERRIBLE. I was happy to learn there was an Origin Thai in Morristown when I moved here from Somerville, where there's another Origin location. However, was totally disappointed after eating there. Good food quality/price for lunch in Morristown. The location is great and love the decoration/atmosphere of this place.

I went last night with a group of seven women ( a waiter's nightmare). We sat downstairs and pretty much had the place to ourselves. We started out with a dumplings, veggie spring rolls and tuna pizza. I had the green curry and it was delicious. Service was great, especially given our large group. Not a good experience. We booked our reservation at 8pm and our table was not ready until 830. The service was rushed and rude throughout the night. Then one waitress, Nikki, kicked out our party of 14 out at 11pm because she wanted to clean up and go home. Honestly, we were done with our meal at 11 and we were leaving but Nikki walked around and told each of us to leave. She even took full glasses of wine out of our hands... Who does that? I understand she wanted to go home after working all night but Nikki was beyond rude and not professional which made many people in my group upset. I don't recommend this restaurant! Ok Thai food. But expect better for those prices and nice Morristown location. Service is slow and definitely without a smile.

First, when we asked to be seated in the basement area, he said it was all booked. Give me a break, who BOOKS the basement ahead of time? He could have easily put us down there instead. He gave us this response without even looking at us. Second, at the end of the dinner we brought out cupcakes made by a friend for the birthday girl. The manager came by right away to inform us that it's against restaurant policy to eat food not provided by the restaurant. Despite us mentioning that it was for a birthday, he prohibited us from taking them out. Third, when we wanted to split our check up into 4, he was unwilling to assist. The most he can do is dividing evenly. There were members of the party who ordered less food and did not know each other. So, we must split our bill. Showing frustration despite it being a 10 second conversation, he called out a waitress to "take care" of our problem so he could go seat newly arrived patrons. As a big time restaurant goer, I have NEVER in my life experienced such rude and ill-mannered service. Interestingly, the rest of the staff was warm and friendly. Even though the over-priced food was not worth going back for, I would have given them a second chance. But of course, this a-hole as a manager turned me off, and I will NEVER EVER return to this restaurant again. read more

My wife and I both got bad food poisoning from Origin on Saturday after Thanksgiving. She ordered chicken massaman curry and I ordered chicken pad thai. The next day we both were stricken with vomiting, painful joints, hot and cold flashes, diarrhea and fatigue. I felt like I was paralyzed. Food poisoning is usually the result of uncleanliness, poor food handling and/or poor food refrigeration in the kitchen. We had been to Origin several times before and never had a problem, but I won't go back. read more

A coworker and I came here for lunch. I had the Pad Gra praw with corn soup. The dish was good but could have been spicier. My coworker enjoyed the Royal Massaman Curry. I returned recently and ordered Pad kee Meow to go. Lunch was nicely packaged which was appreciated for the transport back to the office. The dish had 2 shrimp and barely any chicken and it was flavorless. Thumbs down! This is an ok option for Thai but I have had better. It is also expensive. read more

We ordered pad Thai and red curry. The food was good with good ambiance. Overall it is a decent place to have Thai food.

if i am taking friends out to someplace fancy and very good, this is where i take them. the food is always excellent, fresh, and prompt, and the servers are responsive and impeccable. i have never been embarrassed taking people there. i usually order the pad thai, green curry, or some exciting special. i also like the sticky rice dessert. : ) read more

The worst of the 3 origins. Surprised they are owned by the same folks. They are more focused on getting you out of the restaurant to turn the table than the service they provide while you are there.
